JSR168 portlet - How to acquire Portal user identity?

My scenario is:
- Write a JSR168 portlet to access data in an Oracle database
- The portlet will use the identity of a Oracle Portal user, who currently logs in, to create the connection to that database
- In the database, I create a global role, that in turn, assigned to an enterprise role, already granted to the portal user.
- When that user logins the database, depend on his available roles, the database will control his access on data
My problem is: how can I get the identity (username/password) of that Portal user to establish the connection to my database?
If anyone know, plz give me some help. I'm very thankful.

Dear Steven,
Can you elaborate on your query a bit further?
If you are looking for some SQL statement that will validate against a table for a given portal user then you can use the API wwctx_api of Portal.
For example,
SELECT FIELD1, FIELD2, FIELD3.....
FROM TABLE1
WHERE PORTAL_USER = WWCTX_API.GET_USER;
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
Saabir.

    Hi Jithin,
    The link that you've shared talks about a different scenario.
    In my case, I want to pass the portal user id when the user clicks on the Help Link present in the header area.
    I am trying to pass it along with the Help Link Url property of a masthead iview but it is not getting passed to the target Url.
    I would like to know if it is possible to pass the Portal User Id in this way or not.
    Though if we create a appintegrator iview and pass the user id <User.UserID> along with the target Url, it reaches there.

  • How to get Portal User Context  in Web Dynpro application

    I have successfully integrate a web dynpro app into SAP Netweaver Portal.
    Within my web dynpro app, how can I get portal user context information such as first name, last name, job title or some newly created ume attibutes.
    Is there any programmatical approach to get portal user context in my web dynpro. I not sure whether I can use the following codes in web dynpro?
    IUserContext userContext = request.getUser();
    String firstName = userContext.getFirstName();
    String lastName = userContext.getLastName();
    If yes, can someone point me the name of the jar file I have to import.
    Note : The SAP Netweaver installation that runs my web dynpro app is same with the SAP Portal.

    Hi ,
    you can use the below code to get User details and  add com.sap.security_2.0.0 > lib > com.sap.security.api.jar
    try
              IWDClientUser clientUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
    String firstName = clientUser.getFirstName();
    String lastname = clientUser.getLastName();

  • How to determine portal user in a BSP

    Hi,
    is it possible to determine the current logged in portal user in a BSP iView? If it's possible, how?
    regards

    it is possible.
    1. if spalogon ticket based SSO, then with BSP application, sy-uname will hold the user id.
    2. if the sso is based on user mapping (different logged on user in EP and different user id for logging on to ABAP system)
    check this link where i have explained on how to do this
    Re: EP user credentials as attributes of BSP
    in the bsp application iview application parameter
    pass
    you need to use
    epuser=<User.UserID>
    you can also use
    epuser=<User.LogonUid>
    then in the corresponding bsp page have page attirbute with auto check with the name epuser. now epuser will  hold the ep logged on user

  • How to fetch Portal Users data ? (Including Mapping details)

    Hi all,
    I want to retrieve Portal users data with the detail of its mapping (i.e. if the user is mapped or not with backend user? and if yes, to which backend user?).
    Thanks,
    Tejas

    Thanks for the reply Nadav.
    But what I want is the complete list of all the users, the reason being there are more than 2000 users on Portal and going for this one by one mapping checking is not really feasible time and effort wise.
    So is there any way how can I get the users data from UME or LDAP? as I have both kinds of users.
    Please guide.
    Thanks and Regards.

  • How to get Portal user from a standalone Java application

    Hi,
    I have a standalone Java application from where I need to fetch the Portal User Information like userid and email id.
    I am using the below line of code
    iUser = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("e017939");
    I have included the jar file com.sap.security.api , But it was giving me the below exception
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/tc/logging/Location
         at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:55)
         at com.am.wcas.java.mailscheduler.kmaccess.FetchDataFromKM.getiUser(FetchDataFromKM.java:29)
         at com.am.ScheduleEmails.main(ScheduleEmails.java:89)
    and I am getting a pop Up message from the Java Virtual Machine Launcher, saying a Fatal Exception has occured and the Program will exit.
    Then I went throught he SDN threads and they asked me to include the
    logging.jar and com.sap.security.perm.api .
    I Included them, then also, it is giving me Exception
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/engine/lib/logging/LoggingHelper
         at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:56)
         at com.am.FetchKMData.main(FetchKMData.java:30)
    Exception in thread "main"
    and I am getting a pop Up message from the Java Virtual Machine Launcher, saying a Fatal Exception has occured and the Program will exit.
    Kindly let me know if it is possible to access the User info using UMFactory in a standalone Java application. If yes kindly let me know where i am going wrong.
    Regards,
    Shilpa B.V

    Hi Shilpa,
    1. Check that you have added com.sap.security.api within the Your Project>Libraries folder (under navigation tab) and also added jars in the build path of the Your Project under project>properties>Build Path.
    2. In case you have a DC instead of Web Dynpro Project then you have to add the com.sap.security.api under Your DC>Used DCs and have compile time and runtime dependency added.
    Here java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError is caused basically due to only build time dependency added and reference to the jar missing at runtime. Rest the code to retrieve the current user id using UME API and getUserByLogOnID("....") method with/without portal environment would not be an issue at all.

  • How to map Portal User groups to a MDM System?

    Hi,
    Have anyone tried mapping portal user group to a MDM System?
    The idea is to avoid each user to do user mapping for MDM of their own.
    When i look into the usermapping section of a portal user group, it shows me a message -
    "There are no systems available for user mapping for the selected principal"
    Thanks and best regards,
    Arun prabhu S

    Hi All,
    Got it!
    1. Create portal users,
    2. Create a portal user group,
    3. Assign Users to User group,
    4. Go to System Administration, edit permission of the MDM system, add the user group to the MDM system permission list and save
    5. Go to User Management, modify the user grooup, go to the User mapping of the user group and do mapping for MDM system and user group using a valid MDM User name and password and Save
    6. In User Management, modify the Portal role for MDM , add the user group to the role and save
    7. Edit permission of the role object, add the user group to the permission list and save
    Result:
    All the users assigned to the user group will be able to access MDM information on the portal correspond to the MDM mapping done at the user group level. This avoids self user mapping in personalization link.

  • Writing a JSR168 portlet WITHOUT using Jdeveloper or "wizards"

    I have a JSR168 portlet that is built using Maven (http://maven.apache.org/ if you don't know what that is).
    It deploys and operates perfectly well into a portlet container such as Pluto (the standard, reference container from Apache).
    Pluto supplies a Maven plugin, that takes the vanilla web.xml and other configuration e.g. portlet.xml and adds the necessary configuration to run the portlet in the container. I believe there is an Ant plugin that does exactly the same thing.
    It adds the following conf to teh web.xml;
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>my-portlet-name</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.apache.pluto.core.PortletServlet</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>portlet-name</param-name>
    <param-value>my-portlet-name</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>my-portlet-name</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/PlutoInvoker/my-portlet-name</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    This is the "magic" that glues my portlet to the portlet container.
    What I wish to know, is how to make my JSR168 portlet deploy into Oracle Portal 10g without EVER using JDeveloper. What is the 'magic' I have to apply to my web.xml or portlet.xml or other configuration that will men I can deploy my portlet war into the app server and make it talk turkey with the portal container. I can cope with just having a customised web.xml that I have to copy into the WAR file if need be ... if I could find some guidance what should be in that file.
    It seems that every search I've done in google or though the doco we have here starts with "Start Jdeveloper and select XXX in the portlet wizard".
    I do not use Jdeveloper and nor will I. I will continue to build my Java code in a correct fashion, i.e. on the command line with my standard build tools that don't involve the IDE. Don't get me wrong, I use an IDE, but one should never be mandated. In my book, "wizards" are about the worst imaginable way to get any programming task completed.

    Hi Marcel
    With respect, it's patently obvious that we know how to develop a portlet without Jdeveloper, because if you read the message you would have been able to discern that this is the way we are accustomed to doing it, and it's faster, easier and more portable that way. I've been doing J2EE development since the first version of the spec and well before there was an Oracle implementation of it.
    You don't actually need an EAR file, as a WAR will suffice and the dcmctl command-line utility can supply everything else in its arguments (like, context-path and the like), and it allows each WAR artifact to be deployed in different times, i.e. when they are built on the integration server. I find EAR files usually too heavyweight especially as I rarely write EJBs, as opposed to using e.g. Spring.
    Using the web browser is not an option for automated deployment and acceptance testing from an integration build server.
    Configuring the portal side of things looks decidedly a different matter and I've not found anyway to do it from the command line, it demands the browser, which is a let-down.
    It's terribly disappointing the paucity of information about automation of deployment as opposed to the positively verdant amount of presentations, tutorials and documentation that assumes top-to-bottom Oracle tooling and environment and browser-based configuration. Even where it's actually possible Oracle doesn't seem to want to tell people about it or do as I believe they should, which is regard this form of deployment and configuration as the default way to teach developers how to use their products. None of this helps build and deploy to Oracle products using test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated acceptance testing, all of which are usually regarded as essential parts of a modern developers toolkit by the best minds in the business.
    So after we're left alone to discover how to do this by ourselves for a month you can forgive my disappointment at being lectured like I was some neophyte who doesn't know how to make a WAR file with textedit.

  • How to find out portal user from sso cookie ?

    Hi,
    I want to find out the portal user id from Portal30_sso cookie. It is required for security in my java servlet.
    Thanks
    Vikas

    First of all, you can't get anything from the portal30_sso cookie or the portal30 cookie or the SSO_ID cookie. These are cookies established for (1) The login server session; (2) The Portal session; (3) The login server single sign-on cookie - visible only to the login server.
    When you want to know who the current user is, you need to establish the context. If your servlet is standalone and not a partner application to the login server and it's not a portlet, etc., then what context does it have? What concept of users does it have? If you are really asking what Portal is currently logged on, that is still a loaded question. The user's browser could be accessing several portal's at the same time, each with a different identity. What I am getting at is that your servlet needs to somehow be associated with a particular portal before it can even think of asking this question.
    The ways to associate your servlet with a portal would be
    [list=1]
    [*]Make it a partner application
    [*]Make it a portlet
    [*]Make it an external application
    [list]
    Hope that helps.

  • How to Restrict same portal user from other node

    Hi
    In my application, we charge customers for each portal user logins. But, i found that, they can share same user logins amongs number of people.
    I don't want to allow the same portal user login into the application if that user is already logged in and it's session is still active.
    Here is the Scenario :
    User A is logged in to the portal from terminal AA. Now, User A agin tries to logg in to the portal from terminal BB. I don't wnat to allow user A to log in from terminal BB bcuz user A has active session from terminal AA.
    Can anyone know how to implement this??
    thanks in advance.
    Srini

    Hi Srini!
    We have solved this problem with our own login portlet. Before the final login we've got to check (from the certain table) how many logins there are currently with that username.
    But there is a problem. If the user closes the browser without logoff, the session remains active. There is a cleanup job, which removes those session in some hours. Still it is not very elegant.

  • How to determine numebr of portal users?

    Hi experts,
    we are using sap portal for displaying contents from different application, and active directory is storage of user master data.
    my question is how can i find the number of users using SAP Portal ( login to sap portal ) ? i searched the users through portal user administrator  it gives me all users created in active directory that does not make sense because some user do not know about portal.
    another way i tried to run http://<server>:<port>/USMM this does not work either.
    so how can i determine number of users using SAP Portal?
    your any help would be highly appreciated?
    Regards;
    kumar

    Hi Arvind,
    If you want to find out the number of users which are actually defined in Portal, you can go to the User Administration tab and in Identity Management, Search Criteria as USER and select All DATA SOURCES, put a * in the column adjacent to it and click on GO.
    It may give you tht the size limit is exceeded but it also gives you the total number of search elements.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sneha.
