Jtable column sorting

Hi all,
I have jtable wirh setAutoCreateRowSorter(true); . The columns with Double object are sorting correctly. One column values are object of our class "Carat". But this column is not sorting like numbers. What are the changes I have to do to sort like number or Double.?
my custom class Carat is
import java.io.Serializable;
import common.Common;
public class Carat implements Serializable{
     private static final long serialVersionUID = 7876408747596231364L;
     Double carat;
     public Carat(double carat){
          this.carat = new Double(carat);
     public double doubleValue(){
          return carat.doubleValue();
     public void setCarat(Double carat){
          this.carat = carat;
     //here round to 3 decimal
     public String toString(){
          return Common.roundCarat(carat.doubleValue());
     public Double getDoubleValue(){
          return carat;
     public Carat getDifference(Carat cat){
          return new Carat(this.carat.doubleValue() - cat.doubleValue());
     public boolean equals(Carat cart){
          if(this.carat.doubleValue() == cart.doubleValue()){
               return true;
          return true;
     public int compareTo(Carat anotherDouble) {
        return Double.compare(carat.doubleValue(), anotherDouble.doubleValue());
}Ant suggestions ...plz help....

You have to implement the Compareable-Interface.
Also the compareTo-Implementation is wrong:
use Object for the parameter type.
public class Carat implements Serializable, Compareable {
public int compareTo( Object that ){
}Read the book Java "Effective Java" :)
IMHO this post is not in the correct thread...

  • Sorting JTable column with DefaultTableModel

    Hi all,
    can i sort the column in Jtable which is using the DefaultTableModel? If can, how? I have downlaad the TableSorter.java and implement it into my code which is using DefaultTablemodel, but it doesn't work... :(
    If sort does not work with the DefaultTableModel, which model should i use that will list the records in the JTable and sort it?
    Thanks in advance for yr help...

    When you create your own table model you usually extend the AbstractTableModel class, and the DefaultTableModel class does just the same.
    So I think your problem is likely to be due to the sorter class itself, rather than the model.
    I hope this will help you.

  • JTable multi column sorting (jdk 1.5)

    Hi,
    Can you please send a short example (and/or a link) to multi column sorting using sun TableSorter class ?
    Thanks a lot,
    Ido

    Read the Documentation that comes with the TableSorter class. I believe you use Shift+Click or Control+Click to sort multiple columns.

    Thank's in advance

    I think the crosspost is because the OP was advised to post it in the Swing forum instead (it would've been nice to see the original post closed as well, though). Anyway...
    Have you got your table sorting using one column? If so, how have you achieved that (eg, are you using Java 6)?
    All you're after is a stable sorting algorithm so that any elements that are the same in the new sorting scheme stay in the same position relative to each other. Then you can just sort by "Column B" then "Column A" to achieve multiple column sorting. I believe that Collections.sort is stable and therefore any sorting approach based on that should be easily modifiable to do what you want.
    Hope this helps.

  • JTable allows sorting and filtering at same time

    Hi All:
    Any one has experience about having a JTable allows column sorting and row filtering at same time ?
    I've got JTable allows sorting, as well as a JTable allows filtering; but had a hard time to combine these functionality together. It seems I can't use separate TableModel since I need perform these two operations together on on JTable.
    any help is going to be greatly appreciated!

    Hi All,
    I am new to OATS and I am trying to create script for testing ADF application using open script tool. I face issues in recording two events.

  • Interactive Report wide Column Sorting hangs in Internet Explorer

    I have an application that contains an interactive report. The Column Sorting and Filtering functions work fine in Firefox. However, if I try to sort a wide (110 byte - it contains a hyperlink) column in Internet Explorer, APEX produces the 'loading data' image and then hangs. Even a sort of a narrow (3 byte) column is noticeably slower in Internet Explorer than in Firefox.

    You say the images disappear when you sort the report. Does it happen when you sort on demand in the dashboard or when you sort it in the report itself? Or both?Only when sort from the dashboard. From the report itself, the answers works fine.

  • Issue Action links,Column sorting in OBIEE(11g) 11.1.1.7.0

    Hello everyone,
    I want to provide the feature column sorting to my users but i dont want to provide any feature to users when they click on right mouse button.When we click on right mouse in action link column value it is giving the "action links","include/exclude columns" options etc.
    I disabled the do not display the action link report name in the column properties.
    Also disable the  include/exclude columns options in the interaction XYZ properties of the view.
    But still i am not able to understand why these links are coming when i run the report from the dashboard.
    Please help me out here.
    thanks,

    Hi Timo,
    I am using data control web services to get these attributes on to the jspx page. The table has the value property which is binding to the iterator( #{bindings.SUMMARY_LINES_ITEM.collectionModel}).
    The table has various coulmns like order no, status, request and so on..where Order no and status are converted to a cmd link which navigates to another page on a query.
    I don't understand how setting sorting to true in one of the columns can make it not found in the iterator! And I get the errors only if sorting is done first before querying(clicking on one of the values in a column to navigate to another page).
    Thanks,
    Sue

  • F2 key not working with custom JTable Column

    The F2 key when pressed generates an action event (either JTable generates it or some other component). I am not sure how to handle the action event in the isCellEditable() method. Also, F(X) range of keys other than F2 dump some junk character in the JTextfield when pressed. I am now stuck at this point and don't know how handle F(X) range of keys.

  • How to catch selected text in JTable Column

    Hi there,
    I am learning JTable. Need help for How to get the selected text from the JTable Column which is set to be editable.

    Here's an example of the model I used in my JTable. Not the "getValueAt" method & "getRecordAt" method. You will have to have a Record object - but it only contains the attributes of an inserted record (with appropriate getters & setters). Hope this helps.

    hi there

    any ideas or useful links or tutorials?

    Well, then that would be a Swing related question. Did you search the Swing forum to see how rendering works.

    In list view: Why don't searches include results from the Collections field? Why won't the Collections column sort properly?

    I create a new index on column2, (INDEX_N3)
    and change SQL to
    select 1 from table T1 where
    T1.COLUMN_002 = '848K 36892'
    This time INDEX_N3 will be used.
    but change SQL to
    select 1 from table T1 where
    T1.COLUMN_002 = '848K 36892'
    and T1.COLUMN_004 = '1000'
    The explain plan will show full scan.
    Why?
    Thanks.

  • Export JTable Column headers to Excel document

    Hello all!!! I am having a small problem while trying to export some data from a jTable to an excel document.
    I have a jTable and I use a custom TableModel with this:
    private String[] columnNames = {"First", "Second", "Third", "Forth"};as names for each column of the table.
    The thing I am trying to do is to export exactly the same "headers" from the columns of the jTable to the excel spreadsheet using Jakarta POI. Unfortunately I don't know how to do it and I haven't found anything yet on this forum. Can anyone help me with this?
    In simple words I want to know how I can have the same headers from my jTable columns, with the headers from the excel doument I will create.
    Many thanks in advanve!!!
    Kostas

    Thank you for your reply first of all. The problem is how to get the heading text and how to put it to the excel's first row OR to excels "headings" (if it is possible...). [in other words replace A,B,C,D from the excel document with the headers I get from the jTable...] .
    I hope now you can see what I am looking for... If there is no solution to this please tell me what are the alternatives. (B) could be a good example.
    Thanks you very much!!
