JTextArea - set specific amount of rows, or characters...

I'm working on a Applet which handles text according to given parameters. One of these parameters sets a JTextArea to the horizontal size of, lets say: 5 rows. What i want is that once this TextArea is set to a specific number of rows no text beyond those rows can be inserted. 5 rows, or a specific amount of characters are allowed.
My problem is that the TextArea wont stop allowing text vertically. The TextArea is visibly set to 5 rows, which doesnt change. But how can i stop text from being inserted beyond row 5?
We have tried a number of different approaches, from trying to set TextArea's size with invisible scrollbars to overriding invalidate()...

I never understand why people want to limit the number of rows in a JTextArea. Add the text area to a scroll pane and scroll bars will appear when the number of rows exceed the display area. The point of using a text area is to allow the user to enter data in a flexible format. If the format is not flexible then maybe you should be using another component or combination of combination of components.
Setting a maximum character size is valid if you intend to store the data on a database with a fixed size field. It is easy to do this by using a custom Document with you JTextArea. Read this section from the Swing tutorial on "General Rules for Using Text Components" for example code on how to do this:

Note, if you really want to limit the text area to 5 lines then count the number of new line characters in the document and don't allow them to enter more than 4.

Quick question I hope... How do I request a set amount of terms and have the Oracle Agent stop, once the amount of rows has been reached.
I am not looking for (example):
select * from
(SELECT rownum ROW_NUM, empID, empName FROM employees)
where empName like '%SM%'
AND
ROW_NUM <= 10
This works in most cases, but Oracle is still evaluating all results, and only returning rows where the ROW_NUM meets the criteria. If I have a million rows with matching empName , and only want to return 10 results it still evaluates all million rows. and break the query, this does not work...

Statement 1 is faster - rownum criteria is used along with the last_name
Statement 2 is slower - rownum criteria is used after all the last names are fetched.

I have a question about how to set specific rows in ALV grid ready for input.
I know that I can make some columns ready for input before the ALV displayed,but I have no idea how to make specific rows displayed in the ALV ready for input.

For editable columns we can use the fieldcatalog (LVC_S_FCAT-EDIT = 'X') but for rows you need to define editability on cell level.
The required steps are documented in sample report BCALV_EDIT_02. Below I point out a few crucial points:
*§1.Extend your output table for a field, e.g., CELLTAB, that holds
*   information about the edit status of each cell for the
*   corresponding row (the table type is SORTED!).

Rounding Tax amount in row

Hi Experts,
One of our customer wants to round the tax amount in each row of marketing documents.
When searched the help of 'Document Settings:General Tab", we found a setting field for this called 'Round tax amount in rows'.
But the same is missing from the Document Settings window, General Tab.
We are using SAP Business One 2007B, PL13

Choose ->> Administration.
-> Setup.
-> Financials.
-> Tax.
-> Tax engine config.
Tax Code Determination.
->> Tax Formula.
Select your Formula which you want to ROUND OFF
then pull down from Operation Round and kip your variable.
Simple example,
Service_BaseAmt=Total
Service_TaxAmt=Round(Service_BaseAmt*Service_Rate,0)
It will round off 0.5 to 1.0 and less than 0.5 to 0.0.............
IF you want to Round off final Tax amount(ex. VAT_TaxAmt).

Summary:
When Numbers is used on a system with decimal comma a csv file may be good AND wrong
Steps to Reproduce:
With Numbers v2, you introduced an interesting enhancement.
In system using the comma as decimal separator, Numbers requires csv files using the semi-colon as values delimiter.
In fact it’s true if we OPEN the document dragging its icon on Numbers one or thru the open dialog.
This said.
(1) Drag and drop a csv built with the 'semi-colon' standard on a table or on a sheet
(2) Drag and drop a csv built with the 'comma' standard on a table or on a sheet
Expected Results:
Every normally constituted user assume that in
case (1) he will get a perfectly built table
case (2) he will get every cells of a row in a single cell
Actual Results:
In fact you forgot the drag and drop way of use and in
case (1) every values separated by semi-colon are inserted in a single cell
case (2) values separated by comma are correctly spread in a table
isn’t it ridiculous ?
Regression:
Except looking in QuickView to see which is exactly the structure of the file to decide the way we will insert it in a Numbers document, we may use an applescript fair enough to replace the semi-colons by TAB characters
or
to replace the commas by TABs and the decimal periods by commas
Notes:
While I am on this subject, I wish to make two proposals:
(1) It would be fine to format the date according to the ISO format year-mm-dd when you export a Numbers doc to csv.
Doing that, dates would be imported correctly in every countries.
At this time, on an English system, you export as mm/dd/year.
If the doc is open on a system using the format dd/mm/year, the results will be odd.
On a system using the format dd/mm/year, you export this way and so, if the doc is open on a system using the format mm/dd/year the results are odd too.
As every localized versions accept the ISO format (at least on entry), using it in the export scheme would give a correct behavior everywhere.
(2) It would be fine to add the format Tab Separated Values in the Export pane.
TSV + ISO date format would give documents opening flawlessly everywhere.

OOP ALV - Setting specific records as editable

Hello everyone,
Is there a way for an ALV grid/OOP ALV to set certain fields as editable?
I have tried setting specific columns as editable through field catalog setup, but I don't need all records of that column to be editable. I just need specific records to be editable. Is this possible with ALV or I have no other choice but to use Table Control?

This code displays the same data on the JTextArea everytime i select each row,but my requirement is ,it has to refresh and display different datas in the JTextArea accordingly,as i select each row.Please help.Its urgent.

Because of the above I didn't take a close look at your code, but i would suggest you should be using a ListSelectionListener to be notified when a row is selected, then you just populate the text area.

Since I want to set more row can be displayed, but choice no any method can set. And I have tried to add Jcombobox into awt.frame, then, the handling event function cannot receive event for the right-top cornet button(minimize, maximum, close).

i urgent need the option to set the number of rows per page dynamically.
I've got a parameter.
In dependence of the value of this paramter i want to set the number of rows per page of a repeating frame.
The Reports Builder version i use is 10.1.2.0.2
I defined a report trigger.
My code so far:

Do you just need to change back and forth between 1 and some other number? If so, you can create two identical layouts, one with the "number of rows per page" preperty (on the repeating frame) set to 1 and the other layout set to whatever. You would have to have duplicate layouts for each group you wanted to do this with. Your format trigger on the outermost master group frame where num of rows was 1 would look like:

Select a specific number of rows in query

How can a specific number of rows be selected in a query? For example, a query retrieves 30,000 records and I want to retrieve the output by groups of 5,000. I want the query to retrieve the first 5,000 records, then the next 5,000 records etc. I tried rownum but that does not work.

Getting a specific number of rows

Hi,
I would like to know how to get a specific number of rows. For example, I want to page data in my web application, so I'd like to be able to retrieve just 25 rows in my SELECT statement. I searched and I couldn't see anything under the obvious keywords of LIMIT and TOP (as used by other database vendors) so I'm wondering if possible, what do I need to do - a pointer to the relevant documentation would be helpful also.

Restrict Bank Account payment exceeding specific amount

Hi Gurus,
I want to restrict my bank account to make payment only under specific amount say 5000 ETB.
I have given the minimum payment and maximum payment and outlay controls in bank account.
But when I am trying to create payment exceeding the Specified amount it just gives me Warning, if I click on yes it allows me to make payment.
Is there anyway I can stop the payment and it should not allow payment beyond 5000 etb.

Hello.
The system will let you continue processing the payment even when the payment amount exceeds the maximun outlay. As i said, the only way i know to avoid this is to use Forms Personalization (which is also a standard functionality of the system). There is no need to customize code.

Localization in OBIEE 10g(Error "start row is set higher than the row count

Hi All,
I m Working on Localization.
I have used exteranize string and saved excel file and added language column and inserted data en and fr and loaded the file into the database.
then i have created 2 variables
one is for weblanguage SELECT 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.WEBLANGUAGE)' FROM DUAL
second is SELECT SESSION_VARIABLE, TRANSLATION FROM TAB_EXTERNAL WHERE LANGUAGE = 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.LOCALE)' when i click on Test for the second variable it showing error
"start row is set higher than the row count"
i have seleted start row =10 and show some 10.then also it is showing same error.
Please send me the solution ASAP.

I am working in OBIEE localization. I created two variables and when press test i am getting vaules successfully. But in OBIEE application i am getting columns in english only. It seems there is some problem with values in DUAL table. It contains only 1 column called 'DUMMY' and value as 'X'.
