JUNavigationBar looses Icons

After migrating my application from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3 my user defined icons in a JUNavigation bar sometimes displays the default iconset instead of my own ones.
Is there somw kind of solution or workaroud?

Unfortunately, they have modified the method for setting the icon, so you have to explicitly set the icon, rollover icon, disabled icon, etc. now for each button. If you want to just change the button's icon and get the default gray-filtered version of it automatically, you'll probably have to customize JUNavigationBar to set your icons. Maybe there's another way, though.

Where are my icons

my mac seems fine in safe mode. Many problems when running normal admin user. 1. First noticed that I couldn't move files on desktop. rebooted and started loosing icons. The more times I rebooted or restarted the more icons I lost. Can still open programs from the tags that normally are below icon.
2.adobe flash crashes, after recent upgrade. Have gone back to flash 10 but still no joy. doesn't crash in save mode but doesn't work appears to be loading but no actual movie. 3. Very slow.
Any ideas short of reinstall ????(need to replace superdrive)

Receiving emails not addressed to me

in the last two days I have been sent emails. The first was addressed to '[email protected]' which appears to be a scam email.The email was sent from [email protected]
The second is addressed to '[email protected]' Which is an email that has a link to a pornographic web site. The email was sent from [email protected] Both were not addressed to my email address and hopefully not intended for me. Is there a security issue here? Could someone have found a way of sending emails to the .mac community? Has anyone else had simular emails or has something happened to my email address to make it receive other peoples? My .mac account is up for renewal soon I dont want to loose it but I also dont expect to receive this kind of stuff sent to .mac accounts. I too have experienced strange happenings since upgrading to 10.4.5 sent emails appear in drafts and the toolbar for mail and safari keep loosing icons. Any suggestions??

The headers in an email message (From:, To:, CC:, BCC:) are NOT used by the SMTP delivery system, and may bear no relationship to the actual sender and receiver. This is generally the case for spam mail.
To deliver mail a mail client (eg mail.app, but it can be any program or even be done by "hand" though telnet) strikes up a "conversation" with a mail server the goes like this:
mail from x

mail to a
OK
mail to b
OK
here is the mail
(the message you see, with headers)

The mail server does not check for the existence of x, nor of a or b or possibly hundreds of others in the mail headers of the message. You can -and have!- receive mail without being mentioned anywhere in it, as the delivery conversation is totally separate from the message content.

To change the icons, you could call navbar's setButtonIcon method like:
navbar.setButtonIcon(EXECUTE_BUTTON, myIcon);
To remove/hide a button group you could call one of the
setHas...Button methods (setHasInsertButton, setHasDeleteButton, setHasTransactionButtons, setHasFindButton...) THX Sathish, but my problem is that i want to use the Buttons without the Icons!!

I just updated my itune on my PC and now it doesn't start. There was no error in installing/upgrading the software but once I rebut the computer the icon appeared but it wouldn't start the program. Did I loose all my music and data?\

Try this from MacFixIt as well:
In the case of drive directory damage or problems with permissions, the solution is usually to use Apple's Disk Utility to repair the disk. Of course, you won't be able to perform this operation normally (simply launching the Disk Utility application, located in Applications/Utilities, and initiating a disk repair) if your system will not startup. So two options exist:
* Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) media (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
* Alternatively, you can repair the disk while booted in single user mode if you do not have access to a retail Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) DVD/CD. To startup in single user mode, hold down the "Command" and "S" keys simultaneously at startup. Once properly booted, type the command fsck at the prompt. Repeat these process until no errors appear.

HT5137 The icon ..eg. Sound hound.and others.. Won't open when pressed. They just flicker with the face page briefly and won't open..don't want too loose sound hound ,as many references there .. Any ideas.

You can also try backing up your iPhone and restoring the iOS. This will erase everything then you can restore fomr your backup to bring back you apps and all of the associated data. If you decide to do the easier steps of deleting and reinstalling the individual app, you will loose the data contained within that app, unless there is a log in account associated when you set up the app (like connect to facebook, or another internet account).

The older version would let me drag the icon bookmark to the tool bar but now I have to make a whole new toolbar just to add the one bookmark i loose too much page room this way. Is there a way to do it like the old version?

Removing the favicons, changing the titles to 1-4 characters without spaces, and putting some or most into folders still readily accessible from the bookmarks toolbar
would help a lot. Also changing the size of the bookmarks toolbar text and color with a Style to differentiate between folders and bookmark/bookmarklets would help, see

Replying to emails, I loose the icons at the top (the Toolbar)

This has been going on for a while but now I'm getting perturbed. Seems like it was worse when I upgraded to Leopard. When I reply to an email, I loose all the icons at the top (like send). To actually send it, I have to save it as a draft, then open up the draft and TaaaDaaa there's my send icon. Any ideas?

when you hit reply for an email, before doing anything else and with that email window still opened - even though you do not see the icons, go to the mail menu, then choose view>show toolbar. that should do it.

Please help Apple community!!!! We had the iphoto icon set up on our iMac which stored over 4000 photos of our grandson sin he was a baby till 5yrs. Unfortunately my niece manage to loose this icon from the side bar and we have been unable to find it. Ple

I really appreciate everyone's imput for our original post so far and was hoping to have some positive news for y'all but unfortunately we are unable to retrive these photos from anywhere.
We have tried to retrive the icon in Finder and Applications but have been unsuccessful. We also
tried looking for the icon in every application within the imac but unfortunately still no success.
I know we would've, should've, could've but we never and this is the result of loosing all these precious
photos.
If anyone has any other ideas other than taking it to the experts we would greatly greatly appreciate this.

I fully agree with BDAqua.
Don't do anything with this Mac until you have an external disk which you can boot your Mac from.
Not all USB disks are easy to boot from - FireWire is better
When you have a suitable empty external disk I advise:
Put install DVD into damaged Mac
partitioning external disk into 2 volumes
install OS onto one volume of external disk
Don't import anything during install process - it may reintroduce historic problems
Boot external disk
Use finder to copy critical data from Mac to volume of external disk with OS
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the whole Mac hard disk to the other external volume
Boot into installer DVD and erase Mac's internal disk
Partition internal disk into 2 volumes and install OSs as required

Loosing T530 AC (Access Connections) + PM (Power Manager) Icons after Sysprep

Lenovo T530 (Windows 7, x64 SP1) Sysprep OOTB generalized
After the Sysprep, the system looses the Icons from the Access Connections (Version 5.85) and the Power Manager (Version 6.32) in the Taskbar. I can get them back, if i'll do a right click at the task bar and choose the AC and PM manually.
Is there a possibility that the symbols retained after the sysprep?

Probably because the tools aren't added to the taskbar in "Default" user. Did you added the tools to the taskbar in Audit mode?
Though sysprep will not keep some settings. You may need to use `unattended.xml` to configure scripts to add those tools to the taskbar.
Just another question: does the PM tool appears in its factory state?

I have an alias of one of my external hard drives in my trash. When I click on "show original" all my external H D 's and my Mac hard drive show up. How do I delete this icon from the trash without loosing all my files?

I have an alias of one of my external hard drives in my trash. When I tried to delete it, it showed that I was deleting 80,000 files and counting. I stopped the delete process and when I clicked on "show original" all my external H.D.'s and my Mac hard drive show up. How do I delete this alias from the trash without loosing all my files? When I tried to drag it back to the desk top, it just made a duplicate and remained in the trash. When I turned off the external H.D., the trash was then empty. Tried rebooting the computer and then turning the external hard drive back on and the alias shows up in the trash again. Much help appreciated.

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.

How do I get firefox 3.5 back? Firefox 4 can't find yahoo.mail URL. Using your suggestions has caused me to loose my system tray icons and printers from my computer altogether and my system restore will no longer work either.

Firefox 4.0 cannot find the Yahoo mail URL. Working with the Verizon tech we were able to get Internet Explorer to finaly find the yahoo mail web site. But not luck with Firefox 4.0 .
Since trying your suggestions to make firefox 4 find the Yahoo mail URL. I have noticed that all of my system tray icons except the Panda anti virus and volume control icons have disapeared. My system restore will not restore and printers are gone altogether. How do I get the old firefox and all i've lost back.

You have to swipe in a left to right motion. If the airplay icon isn't showing up it's likely something within your network that is blocking it. You can also try rebooting devices and router.

Keep Loosing my sidebar icons?

Hello,
Received my MBP 17" today. Was finally able to install Photoshop after a re-intall of OSX. Of course now I can't get Illustrator installed? But what is bugging me now are the icons (namely Disk Utility & Activity Monitor) that I drag to the sidebar won't stay there. I close a finder window, open a new one and poof... they are gone? Did the repair permissions thing. Ran Cocktail. Any suggestions?

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter ~/Library/Preferences/ as the folder's location. When this folder has appeared, drag the item named com.apple.sidebarlists.plist to the desktop and try changing the sidebar's contents again. If the Finder asks you to type in your password, select the Preferences folder, choose Get Info from the File menu, and give yourself Read & Write access under Ownership & Permissions.
