Just bought myself a Zen Mic

So, being an owner of a Zen Touch, I was impressed by the sound quality. I decided to buy a mini version, but then the new Ipods came out so I got an Ipod mini instead. After using it for 2 days, I sold it to a friend because the sound quality was weak compared to my Zen Touch. So today, I bought a Zen Micro. Hopefully I don't have one with a faulty headphone jack. My Micro came with firmware v..0.03, does anyone know if thats considered new?

Nope, it's not the latest. The latest can be got from?Nomadworld.com downloads (as per the?BEFORE you post, READ THIS FIRST (FAQ) post).
There's a big difference between the v and v2 firmware. More here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

I just bought a creative zen v (GB) for my brothers 8th birthday, I was just wondering, seeing as I bought the zen v recently, will the latest firmware already be installed or am I required to install the latest firmware myself. Furthermore is it best to install the firmware straight away or wait until the zen v starts to have problems?
One last thing where do I download the latest firmware from and is the joystick really susceptible to damage?

Just bought myself a JamPack and would like some advice on installing...

In the form of the Symphony JamPack. It was quite a fleeting idea, and I just went in and picked it up from the Apple Store. I see it needs 10 GB... This is just for my MacBook, so really just for self amusement, and I'm running lowish on HD space. I don't care at all about the loops, does anyone know how much space it would give me to get rid of them? Also, any efficient ideas on how not to install them at all? Or do I need to fully install and then delete afterwards.

I have that jam pack and think it is an incredible value.
About your situation, I can't recall if there is a custom install option in the Installer. That would be the first place I would look if I were you. If there's not, then you will probably have to install everything and delete the ones you don't want, like you surmised. And don't forget to have about 20% of your hard drive as free space......

Hello, I don't know if the thread like this exists. I just bought myself shiny iPad mini( just for Baldurs gate). But it's not ok. Playlists aren't syncing- they're on iPad but non-playable

It is seen only on iTunes in tab 'on this iPad' but playlists are shaded, grey. When i unplug device, there is nothing on music. Also no 'Other' data or sth like this. I'm checking playlists, they're adding themselves to the bar on the bottom( where You can see how much space is left. But when i try to sync- voilá. Audio disappear And no playlists on iPad. I'm using newest iTunes. I wanted to the iPhone archives to restore iPad. Aaah btw- they don't see each other when i'm trying to pair them with BT. I want to send photos from iPhone, because iPad didn't downloaded all my photos from iCloud and instead of having 230 i have 7. What is wrong??

An owner has a variety of means to assist someone who finds his lost iPad, and is motivated to return it. Writing a phone number on the back, for example, preferably prior to losing it.
From what you describe, your motivation to return it greatly exceeds the owner's motivation for having it returned.
You can avoid this sort of trouble by not taking other people's stuff. Having done that, now it's your problem.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure the birthdate yo specify results n an age of at least 13 years old.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

It sounds unlikely of course. But from your question it's hard to tell what might have filled your HDD. Are you constantly on file sharing or has filled the drive with movies?
Best way to tell is to start checking what folders occupy space. "Get Info" for the HDD and its subfolders is a way to start checking where the data in question resides.
And as BGreg say, call Apple support is also a good way to begin with.

ZEN TOUCH - NEWBIW JUST BOUGHT ONE - A FEW QUESTI

As a novice, I have just bought a Zen Touch, I am transfering my CD collection via Media Player 9 which is taking forever, when I access the Creative Media Source Organiser, I noticed that some of my tracks have blue padlocks next to them, why is this? what is it for? and why do some have and some not.
Is there a quicker way of transferring my CD's?
And does anyone have the problem of not being able to upload any songs to the Zen? There is over 7GB left and I can't get it to upload anything, although I know that the cable and the USB port is working well.

Those are protected files with the padlock.
You will get the same thing if you download tracks from Napster, iTunes or whoever else.
You are not legally allowed to transfer those files (except in Europe and then only for a back-up) anywhere.

Just bought a 30Gb Video, and it's not happening for me!

I had a 20Gb 4th Gen that died about a year ago. Finally bought myself a 5th Gen 30Gb Video iPod about an hour ago.
It's not being recognised by iTunes (yes, 7.3!) and possibly not even Windows (Windows is recognising a mass storage device).
When I bought my first iPod I remember having to install software on it and registering it and stuff, appears to be none of that now.
I've just plugged it into the mains to charge now. I've ran iPod diagnostics on iTunes which came up with a red light on iPod Connection Status, full diagnostic report below:

Just bought a refurb PB G4 via power seller on ebay. Froze on 1st power up. Report says unresolved kernel. Is this terminal or fixable. Should I ask for money back whilst under warranty? I am not techie so worried and not sure what to do? OSX 10.5.8

Just over a week ago I bought a refurb Powerbook G4 via a power reseller on ebay. The first time I switched it on it froze said OSx had quit unexpectedly... assumed I had done something wrong as not very techie so forced shut down and started again. It is saying the same message frequently and freezing... report says unresolved kernel etc etc etc.
I emailed the apple specialist I bought it off and he advises restarting by inserting the OSX disc and pressing down the C button to reboot from there then selecting disk utility, hard disk and repair. He says it shouldn't be happening as it was fully tested before dispatch?? The only thing I have loaded is an update to adobe and Software for my 3 dongle but as it was freezing before I loaded either of these I don't think they can be responsible??
Please can somebody advise if this is a serious problem. I believe I have warranty for 14 days on this item and I am worried I may have bought myself into a problem. Is this a simple thing to repair. Does he mean me to hold down the C key on the alpha keyboard or the ctrl key? (I emailed him and asked him that 2 days ago and he hasn't responded, hence my worries)... I am sorry if that is a stupid question but I really am not very techie at all.....
Should I just ask for my money back??? If it is a simple repair do I just literally push the disc in, push the power button and hold down the C button?
Any advice would be really apprciated.....

That's where I would begin, too, with
Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

All H.264 files (assuming they are H.264 level 4.1 or lower) are compatible with the built-in Videos app.

It entirely depends on your needs. The top players (AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer, It's Playing, GoodPlayer) all have different strengths and weaknesses. I myself use It's Playing the most as I convert everything into MP4 and simply love the DSP's (brightness / volume / saturation boosting). (Its software decoders are definitely worse than those of AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer; however, MP4's are played back from hardware.)
