Just installed Bridge CS5 and it is running very slow!

I am trying to open a folder (in ESSENTIALS / thumbnail view) with 60 jpg files. It is has been running about an hour and they are still not in preview mode. I've done this many times in Bridge CS2 and all the images would open within a few minutes. I'm not certain of the file size of the individual jpgs but I did change Preferences Do not process files larger than to 2500 MB (the default is 1000 MB). Any suggestions?

First try the menu tools / cache/ purge cache for folder
A folder with that amount of files and in jpeg should create thumbs and
large high quality previews in less then a few minutes on a fairly fast Mac
and enough free space on the HD.

Randomly freezes and becomes unresponsive, requiring forced power down. Randomly logs off. Removed Kodak AIO software via Clean My Mac2, but BonjourAgent still there and requesting access. Cleaned weekly with Clean My Mac2 and running Sophos AntiVirus. 2GB memory installed. Currently 169.99 GB available of 249.2 GB capacity.

I am having the same problem. Did turning off iCloud work? Did you just turn everything off or did you actually delete the account off your iPod?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same?
What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

Since you've already run PSE, go into the Saved Application States folder and delete any for PSE.
Repair permissions and try again.
Also go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and be sure everything there is off (except face recognitiion, if you use that).

I work with photoshop CS5 and the stamp is verry slow. Why?

If you can afford it, go with a Crucial M4 SSD.
If your in a limited budget, go with a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB.
The SSD will be the fastest one and the Seagate being faster than a conventional drive.
If you decide to go conventional, avoid the Western Digital Scorpio Blue. They tend to have issues with Macbooks.

Just installed Photoshop CS5 and cannot figure out tablet sensitivity...

Hi everyone.
Previously with my computer running Photoshop Elements 7, I had no problems using the brush tool with my Tooya Pro tablet. The harder I pressed, the thicker the line would become up to the full diameter of the brush selected.
Just yesterday I installed Photoshop CS5 (wahoo!), and the brush works fine with the tablet- except there doesn't seem to be any pressure sensitivity. Clicking "Tablet pressure controls size" box on the top tool bar doesn't appear to do anything, and neither does setting the size jitter to "pen pressure" in shape dynamics in the brush menu.
Does anyone know anything else I should try? I've gone back to PSE7 and found out it still works as it used to, but just for some reason it won't work right in CS5.

Did you try it with the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5?
Normally both a 32 and 64 bit version are installed on an x64 system.

Brand New Machine and Photoshop CS6 running very slow

I just installed Photoshop CS6 on my new Machine and it is running horrible. Moving around objects, turning effects on/off, zooming, and more all take for ever to render. I can not figure out why. I have updated video card drivers and more. Scratch Disk is set to a second disk and messed with all of the GPU settings. Only photoshop runs bad on this machine. I should not be having issues with the system. Below is the system info from Photoshop. Also this machine is running with two SSD drives which should make PS run even faster.

Tried Photoshop at all sorts of various settings including default. All with the D drive being used for the Scratch disk. Working on the similar size file described above. The file I am working on now is 4000 x 4800 pixels, CMYK, 8 bit depth. Photoshop is slow selecting layers with auto select, very slow when moving layers around the Canvas, and slow rendering the Canvas when zooming in and out. This document also has about 30 layers and is 80mg.
I only use the 64 bit version of Photoshop these days. Also all three monitors are set at 60 Hertz. Photoshop is closed and reopened upon all changes.
I use to be a Photoshop Certified Expert in CS3 so I am extremely familar with the product. I am just stumped.

CS5 and Matrox RT.X2 very slow

We are running CS5 with video card Matrox RT.X2. The Premiere Pro versionis 5.0.3 (005 ( MC :218798))
The hardware we are running on is built by ourselves:
- CPU Intel XEON X5680
- GPU ATI FirePro V4800
- 128 GB OCZ IBIS
- Motherboard SuperMicro X8DAH
- 16 GB RAM
We are using this server for editing commercials and inserters for one sport tv channel. We are loosing time because Premiere »acts« really strange. Whenever an operator clicks on File/Export he begins to wait for Premiere to open the Export Settings window. This takes about 5-10 minutes.
Then when modifying only one setting ( format for example ) Premiere again takes 5-10 minutes to aplly the change, etc. for every change.
When the daily task on the server is around 10 commercials the guy working on the server cannot complete his work in his shift, because he constantly waits on Premiere to respond - so it takes around 5-10 minutes "per click"
We already uninstalled and reinstalled...
Any ideas?

has the Matrox MAX option, see also “Matrox MAX H.264 encoding (MAX

• When you export a Matrox PAL sequence to MPEG2-2 DVD format using
Adobe Media Encoder, set the Field Order to Upper under Basic Video
Settings in the Export Settings dialog box. Otherwise, your export may
be blurry. (Ref# 51007)
• If you find that switching the export format in the Export Settings dialog
box sometimes takes a long time, such as when you switch from Microsoft
AVI to MPEG2-DVD, rename the SurCodeWrapper.vca file on your system
(for example, rename the file to SurCodeWrapper.vca.bak). This file is
usually installed by Adobe Premiere Pro in the following folders:
$ \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\MediaIO\codecs\
$ \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5\MediaIO\codecs\
Be aware that after renaming the SurCodeWrapper.vca file, you won’t be able

The database and Application is running very slow.

We are facing the slow performance on Application and Database.
We found that the load average is going very high and when we checked through sar , it shows sys is using 70% CPU.
Can some body let me know , how to check that where system is eating the CPU.
through prstat and other i am able to see only the user process.
Please guide me on the same.

I would suggest you first check and note that PID from prstat that is using 70%. Then query v$session and link it with v$process to see what session owns that PID. That way, you can track the problem down to a particular session and probably code in your application. Then you can further drill down to root cause of it.

IPhoto is running very slow

I have about 2,000 pictures in iPhoto and it is running very slow. Do I need to delete pictures or what is going on?

Someone told me in the other forum not to install anything until the problem was solved but I don't want to rebuild the library without backing up first... sorry I am a novice at all this sort of thing....

Garageband running very slow on my new Macbook Pro

I have just bought a new 15" Macbook Pro - base model - and Garageband is running very slow. I've added nothing else to my Macbook yet......

Your computer is farrrrr more powerful than what you're describing, so something is definitely amiss.
Are you saying in Disk Utility, you are unable to click "Repair Disk Permissions?" Does your user identity have admin privileges? I'm not sure if that's a requirement to be able to repair disk permissions or not, but the ability to repair disk permissions should always be available to you.
Another thing you could try in terms of troubleshooting is to go into system preferences -> accounts, and create a new account. It can be a temporary one just to test this. Then, in the new account, you could see if you have the same problems. You could always delete the account after the test.
You could also try recording to an external drive. A firewire drive would work best (recording to external firewire drives generally improves performance) and would rule out the internal drive as the culprit.
If you are still having problems, you could always call AppleCare, which can walk you through a hardware test, or bring the computer into an Apple store to have them check out, in case there's something wrong with the computer itself.

Report run very slow because some user accessing the same report

I group my table into 3 tablespace And some reports, accessing different tablespace (more than 1 table space). and these report will always be run by 5 user in the same time. and make it run very slow. Is it going to make the report very slow ? Please advice

if ur report processing includes relatively high
amount of calculations on tables..then the report
processing can be very slow...
In that case try to create a table to store ur calculations
temporarily and try to use that table in the report..

IMac running very slow; how can I fix it?

My iMac is running so slow, I can hardly use it all. All kinds of spinning balls, etc. I don't even know where to look to diagnose. If I restart, it will be faster for awhile. Both Safari and Firefox are running very slow...or not at all. I have repaired permissions and hard drive. I have dumped permissions for Safari and Finder and anything else that seemed involved. I checked my memory....this is the report I got. Does the fact that the first one say "disabled" mean anything? I will appreciate help you can give me.

Apple provides repeat downloads as a convenience, not a substitute for your computers being the primary source of file transfers. All your iTunes information such as playlists, ratings, etc. are in a file on your computer, not in the Apple Store. Typically when you move computers you copy the whole iTunes folder and everything it contains to the new computer. Moving media files can be done with a drive, or by Home Sharing. You can also redownload media but let's say somebody desiced Apple may no longer sell a certain album; it cannot be downloaded again but if you already have it on a computer you can move your copy of the file.
5 authorizations: Some households have multiple computers. If you want ot use one with an account it has to be authroized. It means you can use any computer in the house to make purchaes, etc.
