Just installed windows 7 on my macbook (os x snow leopard) using bootcamp.  I can't get back to my mac now.  I've tried logging off of windows and shutting it down.  when i restart it comes back on in windows.  How do I get back to my os x?

Just installed windows 7 on my macbook (Mac OS X Snow Leopard) using bootcamp.  Windows 7 works great, but I can't get back to my Snow Leopard.  When I log off or shut down Windows and try to start up again, all I get is Windows.  How do I get back to my mac operating system?

If your Mac is off then start up. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the Option key until the Mac and Windows Disks show up. Then click on the Mac disk and the arrow below it. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.
If you are in Windows then look for the Boot Camp icon on the taskbar. It will look like a gray box sitting on one corner. One of the options when you click it is to restart in Mac OS. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.

  • Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard, Win 7 & Ubuntu, can't upgrade to Lion

I have new 13" macbook pro with Snow Leopard on it.  With a combination of boot camp and some disc partitioning trickery, I got windows 7 and ubuntu on it as well.  Furthermore I also have a shared data (fat32) partition on the machine (so 4 main partitions - win, mac, linux, shared - plus swap partition, efi, etc).
I just download Lion and I'm trying to start the installer, but when it asks me which partition I want to install it on, all options are greyed out and the Macintosh HD partition says somethign to the effect of "this disc cannot be used to start the computer".  Is there any way for me to get lion installed without having to erase all my extra partitions and start this whole agonizing process over again?

You may be out of luck without formatting your HDD. See this article from Macworld:
(At least Recovery HD should be created. In our testing, it appears this special partition is created only when you install Lion onto an internal drive formatted with a GUID partition scheme. In addition, that internal drive must initially have only a single partition; or be a multi-partition drive that was partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant and not further modified afterwards. So not everyone will get this useful feature. Apple has confirmed some of these restrictions.)

  • I got a Macbook OS X Snow Leopard Installation disc. Will it work on a Desktop Mac too? I want to upgrade to Lion

I got the OSX Install Dvd that came with my Macbook with the Snow Leopard OS. It says it is a "Macbook" disk so thats my question...
Will it work with a Desktop Computer?
Its a Leopard 10.5.8, it has an Intel Core Duo
I want to update it to lion.
    Thanks

No. DVD that come with Mac are are specific to the hardware of the Mac they shipped with and will not work on another. If you wish to upgrade you must buuy the Snow Leopard DVD.
A Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor can't be upgraded to Lion. The Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor in order for Lion to install.

  • Cant install Windows 7 on MacBook Pro running snow leopard.

I just got a shiny new Macbook Pro and i tried to install Windows 7. I partitioned the drive using Boot Camp assistant and proceeded to install Windows 7. Windows 7 Installation started and then it said it cant find device drivers for CD/DVD drives. Since my Windows 7 disk was stuck inside the drive at this point with no way to eject it, i took the Leopard installation disk and connected it through a external USB DVD drive. Then was able to browse the DVD and look at the Bootcamp drivers. But pointing the windows installer to all the directories still came up with "No device drivers found". Though, my leopard installation disc has a folder called x64 drivers etc... Any suggestions ?
    Thanks.

    1) BootCamp .rtf at root of Leopard disk:
Double-click setup.exe, in the root level of this disc, to install the following:
    • Boot Camp drivers, which allow you to use your Mac-specific hardware with Windows, including your Apple keyboard, mouse, trackpad, and built-in iSight camera. For more information on Boot Camp, see <http://www.apple.com/bootcamp>.
    • Remote Install Mac OS X, which allows MacBook Air users on your local network to install Mac OS X using a Mac OS X installation disc in your computer's optical drive. For more information, refer to the MacBook Air User's Guide.
    • DVD or CD Sharing, which allows MacBook Air users on your local network to use your computer's optical drive. For more information, refer to the MacBook Air User's Guide.
If you can't find the MacBook Air User's Guide, download it from <http://www.support.apple.com/manuals>.
For more information on installing Boot Camp, restart your Mac in Mac OS X, open Boot Camp Assistant (in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder), and click Print Installation & Setup Guide.
    2) You can eject without having right click by clicking desktop Computer icon which opens Windows explorer and a view of drives C:, E;(likely your cd/dvd.) if you highlight this with mouse cursor, you can Eject from column above drive icon.
Using Windows Explorer, In the Boot Camp Folder on the Leopard disk is Setup.exe Running this should install Bcamp & drivers for you.
For me autorun at leopard disk insert has 3 icons to select from; for boot camp installation is third or one on the bottom. Maybe you don't see it due to screen resolution setting.

  • My computer crashed so I tried to sync all my stuff to another computer and lost 300 songs when I synced my iPod to the other computer how do I get them back I don't have them saved in iCloud and I can't get them back from the other computer

Is there anyway to get these songs back also I had music that I had downloaded from emusic and installed some from CDs.

If they are still on the iPod then:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Otherwise they are gone and you will have to get them from where you obtained them before.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • When I had my ipod I used my dad's computer. I then lost my ipod and moved. I have my moms old laptop.I logged into my account and synced this computer but there is no music in the library. How do I get all my music back I bought on itunes.

I need help. I would like to get all my music back. Thank you

For what silly reason would someone expect media to magically appear simply because they signed into iTunes?
Media is only where the user puts it.
Either copy the media from the old computer (or it's backup) to the new computer or download past purchases from iTunes.

  • HT4410 I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

  • I had iLife pre-installed on my aluminium Macbook 2009 with OSX Leopard on it. My hard drive broke but got most of the info off it and just installed snow Leopard on to a new drive and then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion over it. Now I don't have

I had iLife pre-installed on my aluminium Macbook 2009 with OSX Leopard on it. My hard drive broke but got most of the info off it and just installed snow Leopard on to a new drive and then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion over it. Now I don't have iLife anymore. How do I get it back?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?  On the guess that you're running the latest iPhoto, 9.4.2, Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the thumnails, Option #2.
2 - It may take 2-3 attempts so don't give up after only one attempt.

There is your problem. DVDs that ship with a Mac are machine specific. You will need to purchase a retail copy of the DVD $29.

  • TS2570 i see a folder and a question mark when i restart my macbook pro

i see a folder and a question mark when i restart my macbook pro

There are four general causes of this issue:
    1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
    2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
    3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
    4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from the hard drive's location.

  • I have a new l7 macbook pro running snow leopard.  When I try to boot into windows7 32bit, I get either a blue, black, or flickering screen.  Then I have to physically shut down and try again.  At that point it will load correctly.  Any help?

I have a new l7 Macbook Pro running snow leopard.  When I tried to to install windows 7 32 bit on bootcamp, I kept getting a flicking black and blue screen when it tried to install. (Tried several times).  I finally downloaded the bootcamp windows support to a flash.  I inserted that and finally got it installed.  Now when I try to boot into windows I get either a solid black (sometimes blue) or flickering screen and windows will not start up.  If I then physically shut down the mac and restart, it will finally boot into windows where it tells me that windows was shut down unexpectently and once I click start windows normally, it will boot up.  That will generally let me boot into windows for the remaining of the day.  The next day, the same thing happens again.  I have tried reinstalling several times, and the same thing keeps happening.  It is not my windows disk because it installs flawlessly on the mid 2008 macbook pro.  Anyone know how to fix this?

I own HDM 2011. But they have products that aren't listed or hard to find too.
