Just opening a PDF in Workspace
Hi all,
I have a process in which I submit (copy) an entire PDF file with digital signature to a watched folder and this kicks of the process.
Now as the first step I would like to present the PDF for the user in a task assignment. The PDF opens fine but nothing happens when I click the buttons Accept/Reject buttons in WS. How can I fix this problem

Ok, I will try to explain the scenario.
Our solution has a form that will be submitted to a server, which has a custom .NET module that processes the form and sends a confirmation of receiving the form to the user. All of this is non-process management. However the processfields
After this the .NET module kicks of a process that will handle the form. The first step in this process is to show it to the user.
The idea Jasmin gave me worked fine - I can now use the Approve/Rejct buttons in Workspace when the form is open.

Are you running into this issue with one PDF in particular, or with any PDF that you open? Did the PDF display correctly previously? How was that PDF created?
For starters, please choose File > Properties and click the Fonts tab. What fonts are used in the PDF? Are they "embedded" or "subsetted."
I would be happy to take a look at the PDF here, if you'd like. Let me know!

ITunes LP just opens a PDF in Preview
I'm trying this with the new U2 album. I have never actually tried with any other album so I'm not sure how it is supposed to work.
When I click on Play iTunes LP, it just opens the booklet PDF in Preview and nothing else happens. I assume that not the proper behavior...Hi Aaron,

Hi,
Currently I encounter a problem to open my pdf files in my workspace.
I deployed the same application on another dev server and it works nicely.

Our solution has a form that will be submitted to a server, which has a custom .NET module that processes the form and sends a confirmation of receiving the form to the user. All of this is non-process management. However the processfields
After this the .NET module kicks of a process that will handle the form. The first step in this process is to show it to the user.
The idea Jasmin gave me worked fine - I can now use the Approve/Rejct buttons in Workspace when the form is open.

We are running Internet explorer 11 with the latest version of Adobe Reader.
have found when users login to a secure website and it has pdf links on there, it doesnt open these pdf directly in the browser, it wants to save them and then open them.
is there anything we can change to allow them to be opened directly in the browser?

I have a problem I can't solve.
I'm creating a intranet website. In this, i want display PDF but the browser reply "Access DenIed".
I stock my PDFs in a network drive where i have the rights on folders and files.
I try to unckeck "Enable protected mode" but no change.
I try to open with another PDF reader (Foxit) and it works, but i want keep Adobe by default reader
for my users.
I have the last version of Abobe Reader XI (11.0.05.3).

It seems that Adobe have recently changed the location of that setting in Adobe Reader (at least on 11.0.4). They've now hidden it under Edit > Accessibility > Setup Assistant > Then on page 5 of 5, there's a tick box to toggle 'Display PDF
documents in the Web Browser'.
However, it doesn't work like it used to though, as it won't just open a PDF in Adobe Reader instead of the browser. It will instead ask to disable Enhanced Protected Mode to run acroPDF.dll.
And if you try disabling the Adobe PDF reader add-on in Manage Add-ons to try and force it to open in Reader, then when you visit a PDF link, you just get the same blank page (shown below) with the black crossed out circle in the top left, but without the
message bar at the bottom of the window. The only way to open the PDF is to either turn off Enhanced Protected Mode and allow acroPDF.dll to run or if there's an original link to the PDF, right click and select 'save-as'.
I think it's about time Adobe released an x64 PDF viewer... Or at least there should be an open/save dialogue box in IE.

How do I change my settings for opening a PDF file?
Currently I can't just OPEN a PDF file I must save it and then I can access it. It once got saved accidentally to automatically save instead of opening straight. In some cases though it cannot be viewed this way. How do change it to open straight?
To change from using the built-in PDF viewer to your PDF reader plugin:
From the Firefox menu choose Tools>Options
Select the Applications panel.
Find Portable Document Format (PDF) in the list and click on it to select it.
Click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column for the above entry and select Use PDF reader name (in Firefox). -
I am running my application which requires JRE on Internet Explorer 10. Since the IE need to run in 64 bit mode, we have enabled the "Enhanced Protection Mode" in Security option of Internet Options in Advanced tab. But my application also opens
up PDF in the browser, when the page with PDF is invoked it displays "The webpage wants to run 'AcroPDF.dll'. If you trust this site, you can disable Enhanced Protection Mode for this site to run the control.(Disable)(Always Ignore)". And on
clicking any option the PDF is not displayed.
We would not be able to disable the Enhanced Protection Mode as the 64 Bit JRE would not be invoked for other part of the application.
Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

My problem is just that- I have created all my forms using LiveCycle Designer because it is easier to make the forms accessible to individuals with disabilities. Apparently it doesn't make Mac users have access to the forms. I've received complaints from Mac users that cannot complete or submit the forms that I created. I'm not asking how to recreate using another software, I know how to do that. I'm asking is there a work around to allow a Mac user to open a PDF form or even XML (bedded within an HTML page) on a Mac computer WITHOUT having to use bootcamp, parallels, etc. and be able to complete the form and submit, print or email it????? I've exhausted all my knowledge on this thus far and I'm hoping to find something that will help. So far all forums talk about how Mac users need to have a PC side to their computer. Isn't there another way?

Load resources lazily.
You should never load a resource file until it is actually needed. Prefetching resource files may seem like a way to save time, but this practice actually slows down your app right away. In addition, if you end up not using the resource, loading it wastes memory for no good purpose.

I just purchased Export PDF, and when I use it, it opens them in WordPad (which I never use) instead of Word. Thus, the pictures are not there, and the fonts are changed. How do I get them imported into Word?

Adobe Acrobat Pro XI is having some issues. When just the base program opens it freezes before I can even do anything with preferences. The same thing happens when I open a PDF document from anywhere. I have cleared the %temp% directory and repair installed the program with no success in finding a resolution to this issue. I have removed Adobe AIR as a thread indicated that this program could be the cause of some issues. I even restarted the print spooler as that was mentioned in a different post on Adobe Support Forums.
I would suggest rebooting (particularly if you have not) and log in as the administrator. Also, it sounds like you can open Acrobat, but then it locks up when you try to do the preferences. So in that case go to Help>Repair and apply that. Then repeat the process with Help>Updates to get current. See if that resolves the issues. Since you mentioned %temp%, I assume you are on a windows machine, but which one?

Opening a pdf in safari just gives me a blank page

when i try to open a pdf in safari it just opens a blank page. from the docs its supposed to open the pdf inline as part of safari but this doesn't work for me
is there a setting i need to adjust to make this happen?
i'm running safari 2.0.3 on tiger 10.4.5 with a 6month old powerbook.

Also did you use the combo up-date for 10.4.5? Because this version
corrects things in Safari that the stand alone does not.
Did you repair premissions before and after the up-date?
Did you turn off your firewall?
Safari: PDFs now open directly in Safari instead of in Preview
When using the latest version of Safari with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger," PDF links that you click will now open directly in the Safari window for your viewing convenience. Before Tiger, PDFs would open in Preview.
If you still prefer Preview, simply Control-click the PDF link (or right click on a two-button mouse) and choose Download Linked File from the shortcut menu. Once the file is on your desktop, double-click it to open in Preview.
Notes:
In addition to Control-clicking the link and selecting Download Linked File as described above, you also have the choice of using Option-click on the link to shortcut the process even further.
If you do open a PDF in a Safari window, you can Control-click on the PDF itself and choose Open with Preview.
Due to certain server configurations, some PDFs will still download to your desktop instead of opening in a Safari window.
If you use a third-party PDF plug-in for Safari, it will block Safari's built-in PDF support.

Drag them to your iTunes library. Download the free iBooks app. Select the PDFs you want too sync in the iTunes books pane. The iBooks app will show your books collection or your PDFs collection as you select.

In general below is the way to change the default program Windows to open JPEG files or other file type:
1. From "Start" > "Default Programs"
2. Select "Associate file type or protocol with a program"
3. Select "jpeg' from Name column
You can change the setting to other program by clicking "Change Program" button at top right corner.
