Justification on word processor using java

hello! i would like to ask if there is a function in java that has the function similar to that of the word procesor......or if anyone has created a function that does that.....please help thanks!!!!!

Hi,
in another of your posts I left a link to application SimplyHTML. The link is http://www.lightdev.com/template.php4?id=3
Did you visit this link already? It leads to a Java application implementing a word processor. Does this meet your needs? If not, it would be interesting to hear about what you are missing in detail...

  • How to do exact word search using Java API

    Hi,
    Can someone tell me how can I write a search query using Ultra Search Java API to return data containing a full word that is sent as a search
    parameter. e.g. If I want to search for a word 'Dictionary' I need to get all the results conatining full word Dictionary for example if I
    have following 4 records
    1. Dictionary
    2. English Dictionary
    3. French Dictionary
    4. AllDictionary
    How can I write a query that returns me first 3 records only as they contain the word 'Dictionary' and not the fourth record as it's not a word.
    Here is what I need to get back and ordered in that way as the 'Dictionary' needs to be first record because the search is on Dictionary.
    1. Dictionary
    2. English Dictionary
    3. French Dictionary
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Looks like we can not do an exact word search using Java API.

  • How to open Word Document using java?

    Respected Sir/ Madam,
    I am doing my project in Network Security using java. I have to transfer the files from server to the client. Each transferred file should have some of the access privileges such as read, write and exeucte. If the transferred file is a word document means then automatically the client should open Microsoft word and if the file is having Read Permission alone then the save, Save As, cut,copy, paste options in the MS - Word should be disabled. This is similar for all the files that i have transferred. That is if the transferred file is excel, audio, video,txt file the corresponding application should be opened properly. How could I acheive this. If the file is having write permission then if the user clicks the save option then the contents of the file should be saved in the server machine not in the client machine, Could we achieve this???? Can anyone help me regarding this? Please give me your views about this query?

    Respected Sir / Madam,
    Thank you very much for your reply. Could we use Microsoft API inside java program to achieve my doubts?? Could U explain it more????

  • How to launch MS Word application using java

    HI:
    I'm developing a project using java, but we need to launch Microsoft Word into java based GUI(like Jpanel, or Frame, things like that), could anyone be so kind that give some hints on how to do it?
    thanks!

    I would be pleasantly shocked to find out this is possible. Well, let me retract that. You might, just very, very maybe, be able to use a combination of Windows API and Word's API (either DDE or OLE or ActiveX) to interact with Word. This will involve using a lot of native methods, javah and pre-compiled DLL's written in C or C++.
    But I think you will be completely stuck trying to get the UI to switch to a JPanel. Microsoft would have to have a version of Word independent of the UI (in effect, have designed Word to have a pluggable user interface). They may have done this, but I have never heard of a project where someone successfully swapped out Word's user interface with a custom Swing one.

  • Generating reports in .doc format (Word Document) using Java POI - HWPF

    Hi,
    I dont think that your requirement has to do with ADF capabilities.
    You want to edit a word document with JAVA. For that reason, you will need an API, as the suggestions above.
    You can do it without ADF and by using standard JAVA and the API of your choice. a static void main will do for that matter.
    ADF comes into the game when you want to handle the document with your ADF application.
    This means that you either want to get your new data to be placed on your doc from BC or any other DataControl or you want to do something else with ADF..
    My guess is that you want to get data from ADF into your Doc.
    You could create an API on handling your Doc and then use it into your ADF application.

    Dimitris.

    Desktop.print() is the simplest way. Everything else will get tricky really fast.I wonder if one could print .doc file though.Desktop.print() simply tells the OS to do whatever it usually does to print the file. If Word is installed, it should start word with the file as an argument and whatever parameter it takes to tell Word to print it.
    If you don't have anything installed that can view/print words files (or the correct entries are missing in the registry), then it won't work, of course.

  • Possible to read/ write word files using Java?

    I'm planning to write a Java application that can read an MS word document, extract something (including mathematics equations created with the equation editor) from the document and write it to another word document.
    Is it possible to do this?
    Can anyone give me some idea?
    Any idea is much appreciated :)

    I think I may have misunderstood your question, but in case I didn't and you find this helpful, following is the code to read a word doc, replace certain strings, then write it out as a new doc.
    import java.io.*;
    public class Copy {
         public static String endResult;
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              String oldAuthor = "Samuel Foote";
              String newAuthor = "New Author";
              String oldDate = "1720-1777";
              String newDate = "1975 -- ";
          try {
              File inputFile = new File("C:\\document.doc");
              BufferedReader input = null;
              input = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(inputFile));
              StringBuffer contents = new StringBuffer();
              String line = null;
              while ((line = input.readLine()) != null){
                   contents.append(line);
                   contents.append(System.getProperty("line.separator"));
              String text = contents.toString();
    //     Replace the author and the dates
              Copy y = new Copy();
              y.replace(text, oldAuthor, newAuthor);
              text = endResult;
              y.replace(text, oldDate, newDate);
    //     Copy the new, improved text to another file     //
              Copy z = new Copy();
              z.finalReplace(text);
              input.close();
         catch (FileNotFoundException ex) {
              ex.printStackTrace();
         catch (IOException ex){
              ex.printStackTrace();
         String replace(String text, String oldSubstring, String newSubstring) {
    //          Search the text for a string, then replace it //
              int fromIndex = 0;
              int e = 0;
              StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
              while ((e = text.indexOf(oldSubstring, fromIndex)) >= 0) {
                   sb.append(text.substring(fromIndex, e));
                   sb.append(newSubstring);
                   fromIndex = e + oldSubstring.length();
              sb.append(text.substring(fromIndex));
              endResult = sb.toString();
              System.out.println("final string = " + sb);
              return sb.toString();
         String finalReplace (String args) throws IOException {
    //          Move the altered text to a new file  //
              File outputFile = new File("C:\\copied document.doc");
              FileWriter out = new FileWriter(outputFile);
              Writer output = null;
              try {

  • How can i do the word processor's page operations in my java word processor

    Hai,
    I am developing a word processor using Java. Its workspace is JTextPane. In order to give the page view and do page operation I have assigned one JTextPane per page.
    Generaly in a word processor if the cursor completes a page, a new page will be created and the cursor will be fixed in the starting position of the new page.
    I need to do the same thing in my word processor.
    That is I need to restrict the JTextPane(page) in such a way that the cursor has to be always inside the JtextPane. It means that the JTextPane (page) should not increase its size whenever the cursor goes out of its size. Instead a new JTextPane(page) can be created and the cursor can be fixed in starting position of the new JTextPane.
    Thing is that a text component can be added with or without the JScrollPane. In the first case both the scroll bar and the cursor will appear if it goes out of the text components rage. In the second case neither scroll bar nor cursor will appear. So these two will not help me.
    How can I do this in my word processor?
    I will be grateful to you if you send some suggestion.
    With regards,
    K. Saran

    Hi,
    this is not an answer to our question, sorry.
    I'm fairly new to Java but is working on a projec similar to yours. I always use other code to learn how new parts of java works. Haven't been able to find any examples of initializing JTextPanes though. Any chance of you posting some here?
    Would be much appriciated.
    Alternatively: do u know a site where u can find such examples??
    Kind Regards

  • How To Create MS-Word Document in JAVA ?

    I want to create a MS-Word Document using JAVA.
    then i want to create table in that document.
    is there any way through which i can create a Object of MS-Word in JAVA.

    As far as I know. There is no support. And you can't get the file format specification for MS Word documents.
    My advice is to look in to RTF, the spec is out there, although its not very nice.
    I think you can do tables in RTF, and you just need to write your output as text and MS word will load it.
    One thing to do is create a table in Word and save it as RTF, then look at the text and try to see whats going on. Although it won't be pretty !! Good luck
