JVM Classpath

I have written a class that is called from PL/SQL and tries to initiate a new connection back to the same Oracle database. I keep getting the error 'No Suitable Driver' eventhough I can run the method from DOS.
I think the problem is with the classpath Oracle is using. Is there a way of setting the Classpath from with Oracle?

    hi mv,
tried your suggestion of installing sun webserver7 but i got an error, something like "can't use sparcv9.so" (too bad i didn't copy the entire error before uninstalling). may have something to do with patches for solaris8. unfortunately, i don't have access to the patches since my support for the hardware ended many years ago.
was able to get 108434-18 but not 108435-18 which needs an active support account.

Is there a good workaround? Can you nest jar files - that is, have one jar file that contains other jar files?
For a lot of usability reasons, we hate to package everything in one huge jar file. We want to keep the manifests, and know what library versions we're using by looking at the classpath.
    Thanks!

  • Scripted WAS Config change http port add JVM classpath

On Windows in WAS 6.4 SP9
I can manually change the HTTP port for the dispatcher and add JVM settings (system properties and classpath) on the J2EE engine in the ConfigTool but I need to create an automated script do what I am manually doing in the ConfigTool.
Can someone please provide an example of how to do each or any of these?  Is there documentation on how to script things manually done in the ConfigTool?
    Thanks,
    Barry

    Hi,
changing the HTTP port is possible by integrating the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/84/0e3f15fc6af94f82c2e6449bcef3d1/frameset.htm">SETSP</a> shell command into your script (just as suggested in your other post).
However, I'm unsure about the JVM settings. They are usually read from a property file (instance.properties) by the jcontrol process that starts the instance. The option I see is to integrate the jcontrol in your script and pass your custom properties file using its <b>-file</b> option. However, this is just a suggestion - I have never tried this and am therefore not sure if it works at all.
No documentation is available about scripting, as AFAIK, this is not an officially supported startup procedure.
Hope all that helps a bit!

    Dear Customer,
As you can see, your pre-requisite checks are failing because you are not on supported OS version.
Please verify supported OS from SRSP guide (If you are on prior Siebel version 8.1.1.8) or Certification tab for all siebel versions from 8.1.1.9.
    I hope it helps.

    Hi,
Make sure that you append the following syntax in your jvm.classpath setting in jvm12.conf. And restart the server to make the changes effective. I hope this helps.
    <b>D:/mybeans/beana.jar:D:/mybeans/beanb.jar:D:/mybea ns/beanc.jar</b>

  • Error when accessing Java and JVM section

I'm getting the following error when accessing the Java and

"Element JDKPATH is undefined in FORM"
I've searched a lot and there's very little on the topic. On

it was suggested it might be the jvm.config file. I've looked at
mine but I really have no idea what could be wrong. Also, there are
two jvm.config files in my install, one in jrun4/bin and another in
    jrun4/servers/cfusion/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war/WEB-INF/cfusion/runtime/bin
    folder (I did multiserver installation).
I've already tried a bunch of things and no luck, any help is

  • How do I add my own JAR file to the classpath?

When I put a JAR file containing several compiled Java classes in the '/opt/SUNWips/lib' directory they are not found while compiling a JSP-Provider. When I extract them from the JAR it is not a problem (I think because the '/opt/SUNWips/lib' directory is already in the classpath).
Where can I add my JAR to the classpath?

I have been successfully editing the jvm12.conf file to add jars. This is
the web server config file in
    /opt/netscape/server4/http-your.server.com/config directory. Add to the
jvm.classpath line with all the other jars. Yes, lib is in the path, but
Java doesn't see inside the jars unless they are explicitly in the path.

  • Environmental Classpath

    Hi
I set the path settings to use the Envirnomental Classpath by unticking Ignore on the JVM Classpath Settings using the Admin GUI. Now the J2EE Server will not start up. Is there a way to undo this by editing a config file.
    Thanks in advance
    fm

You did not mention which version of Application Server is this, but steps should be pretty similar...
You need to modify env-classpath-ignored property value in your <installdir>/domains/domain1/config/domain.xml file. If you set it to true, you should be back to normal.

    Hi there,

Hopefully that is readable -- basically, it can't find a bunch-o-classes. Now, normally, I would snicker, and say something smart about classpaths. However, I have already done this, and looked in all the places that I think should have these classes in (I shall just use the last eg, com.esri.aims.mtier.model.map.Map, rather than all of them):
    # find /home/websites/#####/ |grep com.esri.aims.mtier.model.map.Map
    /home/websites/#####/WEB-INF/classes/com/esri/aims/mtier/model/map/Map.class

    33267 Wed Dec 04 15:50:14 GMT+09:30 2002 com/esri/aims/mtier/model/map/Map.class
So, as you can see, the relevant files are in not just one, but two places that I had assumed were in the classpath. Judging from the error messages, they are not. Am I doing something wrong here?
    Here's some of the config...
    The relevant line from web-apps.xml:
    <web-app uri="/#####" dir="/export/home/websites/#####" enable="true"/>
    The classpath from jvm12.conf:
    jvm.classpath=/opt/iplanet/servers/plugins/servlets/examples/legacy/beans.10/SDKBeans10.jar
That's all that I can find that is relevant. Please ask if there is anything else I can give you (apart from access to the server or the application -- I can't give that).
    Any ideas?

The solution was to download the DTD file and change
the URL to a file: link, so iPlanet could
successfully use the DTD. Did you have to define the file link as an absolute path? Or where you able to use a relative link.? If so, can you please provide the full syntax?
We faced a similar problem and after much trial and error ended up placing the DTD on the server in /usr. But we'd like to try and find a way to define a relative file path and put the DTD right in the WEB-INF directory (or somewhere similar) so that we have one less configuration hassle and platform/server independence (i.e. the war file has everything it needs). But we have not been able to determine a way of doing this.
    Thanks

  • How to avoid jvm caching objects?

I'm programming a class, which will be loaded into another class. Everytime I did some modifications on my class, recompile it, kill the loaded object, and reload it, the old version will be loaded again, rather than the newly compiled version. So I have to shut down the whole thing, and start again. please help. thanks.

Well, now, you are right along the lines of what I am working on. I am building a plugin engine that will offer this type of ability along with many other features. Of course, it isn't exactly what you are trying to do, per se, but the class loading stuff, reloading and picking up the new object, that stuff is what I am working on as well.
First of all, your message is a little vague on what you are doing. Is your application creating an object at runtime, then you "modify" the source while your application is still running, and then your app creates a new object but is still retaining the old version of the class, thus not picking up your modification to the source? I am guessing this is what you mean. You then need to answer if you are using a separate class loader instance for this object that you wish to reload. In this case, an object and a class are the same thing, because you are only creating one of them at runtime then wish to reload it with a new version of the class/object.
In any case, for every class you wish to reload at runtime with a new version, EVERY SINGLE CLASS must have its own class loader instance. I have no idea if you understand how the JVM loads classes, the classpath, and so forth, but let me give you a bit of what I have learned.
First, the JVM has a "system" class loader that it uses to load the Java APIs and usually all of your classes to an application unless you create an instance of a class loader to load your classes. I forget, to be honest, if there is more than one classloader the JVM uses. I think there is a boot loader for the API classes, then a system loader that has as its parent the boot loader. Now, if you are unfamiliar with the ClassLoader hierarchy and how it works, a good read is the ClassLoader API docs. It explains the delegation model. Then read the URLClassLoader docs, as it explains how it uses its own URL as a classpath, in which you can add more URLs to its classpath and so forth.
The delegation model works like this. Every class has a ClassLoader, usually its the System loader because most developers never get into the class loading issues. They develop an app that is launched by the JVM in the normal way java -jar someapp.jar or java myclass with various parameters and attributes. If their code never creates a ClassLoader instance to load classes dynamically, then every class of their app shares the same one classloader instance, the System loader. This is why your classes never have to include any of the JDK/JRE runtime, its automatically done for you as part of the boot loader classpath, which the system loader picks up due to how the delegation model of ClassLoader works. Now, lets get on to that. The delegation model is a way a ClassLoader instances looks for a class when asked by the JVM to find a class. First, the classloader looks in its "cache" of already loaded classes. If not found, it then asks the parent class loader to find the class. If the parent class loader can't find the class, it finally calls its findClass method, which is what the API recommends any new classloaders override to do their own specific class loading features. This is the delegation model in short. It ensures that the very first time a class is being loaded, the parent classloaders are searched first before your own classloader instance has a chance to find it however it needs. There is one problem I have with this. IF any class you need to load lies within the JVM classpath (or in the case of a J2EE deployed application, lies within the J2EE classpath or web-app classpath), it is ALWAYS found by the parent classloader before your classloader instance ever gets a chance to load it. What I mean is, if you create your own classloader, extending say URLClassLoader, and you try to load a class that you want to eventually reload, because the JVM classloader (or parent loader) loads it first before your own classloader implementation gets a chance (via the recommended findClass() method you should override and implement for your needs), you can't ever really "reload" the newly modified class, because it is within the JVM's classpath (or J2EE/web-app).
As I have had to do with my plugin engine to ensure any class can be reloaded, I have to override the loadClass() method of ClassLoader. Now, to understand why this is done, you need to understand how the JVM works, which in fact I posted a message on the JVM forum of this site just earlier today to get exact info on. The JVM, when it loads the bytecodes of a class, as far as I know asks that class' ClassLoader instance to "find" any classes the class implements, extends, or imports. If you have Class A use Class B, and Class A has its own classloader with say NO parent loader, and Class B has its own loader with no parent loader as well, The Class A classloader instance needs to "see" the Class B .class file (visibly) somehow in order to understand HOW to use Class B in the Class A use of it. Man this gets tricky to explain. So, somehow, Class A and Class B must be within the same path so that Class A classloader can also instantiate Class B for its use in Class A. I am using the word Class loosely here, because we know that every Class becomes an object when instantiated. Anyway, in order to have every class reload, every class must have its very own instance of a ClassLoader. Ideally, using URLClassLoader works well for this because you can declare URL objects as part of the classpath a URLClassLoader instances looks for classes in.
Anyway, that is all the time I have for this right now. Let me know if it helped at all, or if you have any more questions. I'll watch the topic and check back soon.

    Hi,
I got solution to my problem of webservice is not working in CF8.
    the problem was
we have already a "rt.jar" file in a location and we defined this location in CF Admin >> java jvm >> classpath
    so this file was conflicting.
i simply removes this file path from CF Admin.
    and restart the CF services.
and my web service start working.
