K9N Neo-F and USB Mouse problem

Hello,
Some people including me have noticed problem with USB Mouse when using MSI K9N Neo-F BIOS above 1.3.
Results are simple - when loading Windows, the system initiates USB devices, but when it goes to Windows mouse doesn't work.
There is only one solution to fix the problem, reconnect USB cable from mouse.
It seems to be a BIOS problem, but there have been many BIOSes during 2-3 months and now currently the newest one is 1.63 Beta, which still didn't fix the problem at all.
I contacted MSI, but they can't do anything.
According to my tests, if I change in BIOS S1 to S3, it runs fine until I won't shutdown computer and turn it on again.
I wonder if there's any solution. I'm really mad about it and probably will RMA my mobo or change it to some else.

  • KT7 Turbo V3 and USB mouse problem

Hello!  I'm hoping someone here can help me out with this problem.  I've looked thru numerous other threads here regarding USB problems, and I'm not certain if any of them apply to me.
KT7 Turbo V3 with lastest Live BIOS downloaded and flashed.
    Athlon 1GHz
    512MB RAM (2x256 Crucial)
    Windows 98SE
    300W PSU
    Nvidia Geforce2 MX
Logitech Cordless Optical USB mouse (2 button)
Anyway, in pursuing a problem discussed in another thread, I upgraded my BIOS and re-installed my operating system.  Actually, I've done both multiple times, including re-Fdisking and formatting.
Since then, whenever I make a BIOS change of any type, or change any drivers, etc., the mouse stops responding, and Windows gives a "No mouse detected error" upon booting. I fix this by going into Control Panel>System>Devices and deleting the Human Interface device, and then either Refresh or re-boot.
I'm afraid to even install the Logitech drivers anymore, because the last time I tried it, and had this problem, Windows wouldn't even boot after I deleted the mouse in Devices.
I never had a single problem with this mouse until I updated my BIOS.  Has anyone heard of this problem before?  I'm thinking about going back a few BIOS versions, but I also want to pop an Athlon 1600+ in my machine, so I was afraid I might need a newer version to support it.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
    - Rick

FYI for anyone else having this problem, going back to an old BIOS version seems to have fixed this.  Both v2.4 and 2.9 seem to work fine.

  • MSI K9N Neo board- and Windows 2003 R2

    Hello,
I am having some compatibility issues with running a K9N Neo board and Windows 2003 r2
--I cant get core center to run
--I cant get audio/sound to work, it is all installed except for one thing.
so then i killed by loading XP drivers that it did not like.
Does anyone have a list of the minmum drivers off my CD that i should install to get it going, or are they on the MSI site for W2k3?  I could not find them.
This machine works totally fine with XP and Vista.
    thanks

That is mostly correct, absolutely. But it happens that Microsoft thought-up some security measure or two that prohibits some - for example - updating procedures. Here is an example, but I doubt that is your problem. Please note the kb number, you don't have to learn Swedish.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922582/sv
Modificacion: Very few companies do I believe produce special 2003 drivers. Don't think I ever saw any MSI ones, anyway. Isn't it enough that XP and Vista works? Those are better for gaming, entertainment, VOIP and such.

My Macbook Pro keyboard and USB keyboard will not work.  However, the trackpad and USB mouse will work.  Any help?
This is quite frustrating, since it randomly occured as I was browsing the web.  It seemed to happen out of nowhere.  I cannot login to my user account because I cannot type my password.
    Any help will be appreciated.

If you have another Mac, boot the non-working one into Target Disk Mode (holding down "T" at startup). Hook up the two Macs via a Firewire cable. The non-working one will mount on the other Mac as an external Firewire HD.
Next, download the 10.5.6 Combo update from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate .html
Run it. When it asks you for a destination, choose the other Mac that was mounted via Firewire. When it's done, unmount the computer and restart it. The keyboard and mouse should work now.

  • USB mouse problem - K8N Neo Platinum

I have a Razer Boomslang 2000 USB mouse. Ever since I got my new motherboard, the K8N Neo Platinum, It has problems when i turn the power for a long time - overnight. When I turn it back on in the morning the mouse refuses to work. I then have to manually pull it out of the USB port and plug it back in, in order for it to work. This is extremely frustrating.
I have windows xp pro sp1 all fully up-to-date and the latest 1.2 bios and 5.03 chipset drivers.
Any ideas on how I could fix this ??

  • MSI Neo 4 SLI USB mouse won't boot

Whenever I have my logitch MX500 plugged into my Neo Platnium 4 SLI the system hangs at the screen for post or enter setup.  It boots fine when I uplug the mouse and the mouse works fine in windows.  Any ideas?

Are you sure the system totally hangs after the POST or maybe just takes ages?
I have a vaguely similar problem with my non-SLI mobo which may be USB related but I've yet to establish the exact culprit.
Whenever I boot from cold or restart, there is a three minute delay after the POST screen before the Windows XP loading screen appears. If I press reset during this delay I get the Windows did not load completely screen immediately after the POST and selecting Load Windows Normally starts it off immediately.
No difference on BIOS 1.1 (original) or latest(?) 1.5. 1.5 is said to have problems with PS/2 mice.
Since buying this mobo and related kit 10 weks ago, I have loaded XP four times, hoping to resolve these problems. First time it became unbootable within 24 hours, second time all was weel for two weeks when the 3 minute delay suddenly appeared, third time on reboot when loading XP, and fourth time after a couple of days. I have yet to activate XP as I do not want an argument with M$ every time I have to re-load.
I have a USB mouse plugged into one of the ports on my Cherry USB keyboard, a USB webcam (Philips TouCam II Pro), HP 9650 USB printer and USB 2 card reader all plugged in at startup. I'll have to experiment.
What chance MSI releasing a BIOS update that works with basic hardware like USB and mice?

  • K9N Neo V3 and SATA DVD-RW, need help

    Hi all!
I've got a K9N Neo V3 mainboard and a Pioneer DVR-215BK DVD-RW (which is a Serial ATA drive). The problem is, when attempting to read any disc (CD or DVD), the drive recognizes it OK - but then hangs the very moment data transfer begins, then after 3-4 attempts (i.e. read-hang-read-hang etc) starts reading, but transfer mode is set to PIO by the OS (I have Windows XP SP2 installed). I can change it back to UDMA 4, but when I load a disc the whole story repeats :( . Reading speed in this mode is not too impressive, of course.
I have upgraded mainboard's BIOS and the writer's firmware to the latest versions; tried NVidia IDE SW drivers; checked the RAM for errors; connected the writer to different SATA ports with different cables; changed RAID mode in BIOS setup - and, of course, surfed the web searching for the solution - and now I'm here... Seems like few people had quite the same problem, but I've tried what they were proposing (even disabling error control for the corresponding IDE channel in Windows registry) - with no result at all.
Here's what I have inside my PC case:
MB and DVD-RW - you already know; RAM: KingMax 2*1024 Mb 800 MHz; HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (SATA); Graphics: NVidia 8800 GS; Sound: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio; PSU: Delta 500W.
Note: SATA HDD works fine in UDMA 6 mode, without any errors. Any other piece of hardware I have also operates fine...
Hope anyone can tell me what causes this issue and what I can do about it. Is it my DVD-RW or motherboard that's faulty, or some compatibility issue, or I'm just stupid ? Thanks in advance.

Quote from: Nestemat on 28-March-08, 05:11:31
The burner is not the issue , the issue is the motherboard or  some simple bios settings or the bios itself .I have a K9n Neo v2 mcp 520 and it has the same problem dvd-rw under pio , i think the problem is caused by the drivers , because they just won't install
Well, that's at least something! Means I'm not alone.
Yesterday I cleaned up whatever was remaining that could have caused the issue: removed everything but vital components; uninstalled all programs that might use additional drivers (like Nero, WinCinema and such); had the RAM checked again by MemTest86+ 2.01. Well, nothing changed, of course.
Tomorrow I'm taking the system to the dealer I've bought it from (that's gonna be a challenge, we got a lot of snow here   ) - we'll see what the service personnel has to tell me.
I will let you know as soon as the problem is solved.
    Nestemat
In your case - what's the brand and model of your DVD-RW? Have you tried downloading the latest drivers - or maybe your installation CD is bad or a buggy installer? Try installing the drivers manually.

  • Retina MacBook Pro fan very loud and usb mouse disconnecting when restarting the computer

2 days ago, I got a brand new retina MacBook Pro 13 inch with the specs 2.8 GhZ i7, 8 gigs of ram and 512gb ssd. It should definitely be functioning properly since it's a really expensive computer, but I already noticed a few problems that I hope you can  help me with.
So first of all, when I play World of Warcraft, the fan seems to go up to 6000rpm and is very loud. I checked the activity monitor and it says WoW is using about 60% CPU, so it shouldn't have to be that loud. I also installed smcfancontrol, but it doesn't seem to lower the speed of the fan.
I ran an apple diagnostics test and it couldn't find any problems, and I also tried resetting my smc, but the fan is still going very loud.
And the second problem I have is, that when I have my mouse usb connected to my Mac, and I restart it, it can't detect the mouse anymore. So I'd have to pull out the usb plug and put it back in everytime I turn on my computer. isn't it supposed to automatically connect to my mouse when it's already plugged in?

    Matt,
Try reading this, then go to the section on Resetting the SMC for a Macbook Pro with a battery you should not remove.

  • Slooow internet and weird mouse problems?

I recently upgraded my iMac to Leopard (10.5.4) and started having weird mouse problems. At start up, mouse would be frozen in upper left corner. I'd restart, switch mice, restart, over and over. I use a Wacom tablet w cordless mouse plus Apples alum cordless keyboard. Eventually I tried switching USB ports for my Wacom tablet and the mouse was OK. I have learned that when this problem occurs, I need to shut down and unplug everything. That seems to solve it. Anyone know why? ALSO, ever since upgrading I have found the Internet to be appallingly slow. I have 2 GB memory and just upped my internet speed (supposedly) through Embarq.

hmm, what is a mouse usb or a keyboard usb?
arent all the usb ports same?
I really wish to show you how this happens it is really fun, but also annoying. especially when I am playing a game. it is interesting to watch the screen when suddenly all the world starts rotating when you are playing a first person shot'm up.

  • USB Mouse problems

    Hi there,
Have been experiencing issues with my usb mouse. Sometimes when I start the computer up the mouse does not work, it lights up fine when I move it but the cursor doesn't budge.
The funny thing is that it will work if I leave the computer off over night then come back to it the following day. Also, I have Windows installed on another hard drive and that always picks up the mouse so it can't be a hardware problem.
    Any ideas?

So no AM2+ for you if you want a 125watt processor on it and a nvidia chipset. is there any reason why MSI cant fix 125watt support?
If you dont care about a future quadcores upgrade you can buy a old AM2 board, but dont forgot to look at the cpu support list, because the most AM2 boards doesnt support 125watt either.  ???

That is not true, 125W support usually have high end mainboards.

  • My cursur, trackpad, and USB mouse are going crazy

This all happen just today. I don't really have control over the cursur and I have no idea why. The trackpad doesn't really work and the mouse is just jumping around.
Any ideas? or anything I could reset?
    This litterally happened over night.....
    p.s.
this took about 20 mins to type...

I have this same problem with my MacBook Pro (only since updating to Snow Leopard 10.6.4 from Leopard). I do not use a mouse. Periodically, I will find that I cannot move my cursor or use my trackpad. I usually use 1 finger to move the cursor and when this happens, it takes 2 fingers and it is jumpy (not moving exactly where I want it). Sometimes I cannot select anything or enter won't work.
I originally thought I must have accidentally hit a wrong button when typing. It usually goes away on its own after several minutes and I don't know why or how.
It's as if some setting got changed, but when I went to the trackpad / cursor settings, nothing appears different and I don't see anything to change to put it back the way it was.
Either it is a legitimate glitch with the S/W that needs fixing or some kind of setting issue that has an easier fix than going through safe mode and doing whatever the other poster mentioned.
I am somewhat familiar with safe mode on a Windows machine, but not on my Mac. I am fairly new to the Mac (have had it about 10 months, but still a lot I don't know).
I want an easy fix. It does not appear virus-related (or user-error) as nothing else seems affected and it goes away as suddenly as it came. It is always when I am using the internet, but that is 95% of what I use the Mac for. Again, I never had this problem with Leopard, and I only upgrade to Snow Leopard within the past 2 months or so after months (about 8) of using Leopard with no problem.

  • Huawei e220 hangs on Mac Mini G4 and USB mouse and keyboard slow way down

I have a Mac Mini G4 running os10.5.8 My mouse and keyboard are a creative wireless combination that go to a USB hub then to the USB port on the mini. When I use my Huwei e220 wireless broadband modem, it frequently hangs when disconnecting, and the mouse and keyboard barely work. Activity monitor shows the CPU load is not very high at all, yet the mouse is almost stuck. If I put the computer to sleep, then it comes back and works fine. Its a bit of a hassle, and seems to be specific to the USB on the mac mini.

Is the modem connected via USB?

  • USB mouse problem x- and y-axis switched

Some distros load my HP wireless mouse just fine others not at all but Arch likes to play with me and switch it up.
When I move the mouse up the cursor goes left, down goes right, moving the mouse right the cursor goes up, down the cursor moves right.
/dev/input/mice and mouse1 both return stuff in the console.
    any ideas?

    Simon
    thx for the reply.
no - i think its a bug (as i indicated in my second post). i would expect when using the Dynamic Width / Height feature that the size of the axis would not change - i.e. if i am doing a chart of Employees (on X axis) and number of hours recorded (on
Y axis), using Dynamic Width, then all that should change would be the width of the chart where the columns are contained dependant on the number of Employees selected. The Y axis details (showing number of hours) should NOT change - the value will be relatively
constant if a few or a lot of employees are selected. from what i am seeing the whitespace / Y axis area appears to increase in width as the width of the chart increases - think this is wrong

  • Wired and wireless mouse problems...

Hey, looking for someone who can help me with a mouse connection problem I'm having with my G4 powerbook. Originally I was using a bluetooth wireless mouse and it would seemingly loose its connection. Example, I'm surfing Safari and I go to click a link with my mouse and then the cursor disappears up into the left corner. I have to move it around a bit before it gets its connection back. To test this I put the computer with hot corners to start expose. I would be surfing and BAM expose is activated.
Ok potentially crappy mouse. I plug in my USB mighty mouse and BAM, it does the same thing. I still have apple care on the laptop, but the nearest apple store is an hour away so I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this annoying problem.
    Anyone...?

I have the same issue. Left and Right buttons are programed as "primary" and "secondary" respectively, but any action on the mouse activates the right button drop down menu. I changed out my wireless mouse to the wired mouse, rebooted and changed USB ports but not change. My keyboard is not typing either?
Looking forward to some GURU type insights here....?
