Keep aspect  ratio?

Hi,
I created custom component(polygon) in Flex Builder, compiled and added to my add-ons.
I got my custom component on stage in Xcelsius.
I would like to keep aspect ratio of my custom component during resizing?
Please check Spreadsheet Table component. Spreadsheet table and resize handlers keeps aspect ratio during resizing.
How can i accomplish this?
My thoughts:
I could do this by adding mouse down and mouse move event to stage area. When user starts resizing component(mouse down pressed, mouse move dispatched) I could just simply calculate and change component minWidth and minHeight.
Can I add events to stage area? If yes what kind?

I agree it would help productivity if there were a "sticky" setting on the crop selections.
In the meantime (assuming Adobe will eventually change this) you can use Synchronize or Copy Settings to apply a crop ratio to multiple images.
There are a couple minor glitches/bugs using this approach :
After synching, the crop size on the toolbar shows "Custom" rather than the actual ratio you set. I think it should display the chosen ratio, as it does when you choose a setting from the list.
If you copy/paste, the ratio improperly shows "Original", and the list also shows "Original" checked. But the crop frame tool on the image correctly shows the pasted crop ratio. I've found you have to go back to grid view and return to develop to set it properly. Confusing, at best.

  • How to keep aspect ratio for different sized resolutions?

    If I have a 1280 x 800 resolution widescreen moniter, and I have this fullscreen game that likes to run in 800 x 600 but I don't like the way that the game stretches across the whole widescreen moniter. The only way for me to keep everything in a good aspect ratio is to put my resolution at 1280 x 800 but the game doesn't like that.
    Would there be a way to set it so that the 800 x 600 resolution is set to have the correct aspect ratio rather than being stretched across the widescreen?  ie, so it looks like a square with black spots on both sides.
    I heard that a modeline generator would be the thing I want, but I'm not sure how I should go about this stuff. If you have any reading on it, please give it to me.

    Thank you very much. I never thought to look in the BIOS.
    There wasn't an option to keep aspect ratio and stretch but I was able to center it rather than stretching.
    Now my framebuffer boot up got centered, I need to find out how to make the framebuffer bootup be 1280x800 rather than 1024x768. This should be simple, but the guide in the sample menu.lst only gives square-y resolutions.

  • Resizing Image and Not Keep Aspect Ratio

    Is there a free program to resize images and not keep the original aspect ratio?
    I need to resize loads of images to 100x100 pixels and have tried Image well and IResize yet they do not seem to have an option to not keep the original aspect ratio.
    Thank you
    20" Intel 2GHz Core Duo imac, 2GB Ram, 250 GB HD

    Hi, Downsize does not seem all that great according to reviews. Why not see if you can buy PS E' 3 mac -- maybe ebay/amazon (if I remember I only paid about $70 for PS E3) As PS E4 just came out I'm sure someone has PS E3 for sale. You will then have no problems completing your image resizing.
    2 other questions for you..are you using the Mac side of your intel or Windows?
    if your using the Windows side I can let you have PS 6 (PC) ..freegratus.

  • Option to keep aspect ratio when scaling pictures

    If I place a picture object on the report and change the size or scaling I woul like to have an option to keep the original aspect ratio. I've seen other products that have this feature. I use the ole object with a graphic location value (from DB field) so different pictures may appear based on data. Unfortunately the original pictures are not all the same size so pictures end up skewed when trying to fit.

    I meant for this to be in feature request thread. Not sure how to move it there or atleast delete it.

  • Idvd not keeping aspect ratio when burning dvd

    Ok, what I am doing is creating the project in Final Cut, exporting using quicktime conversion (everything up to this point is 16:9) then I go to iDVD and what I need is a dvd that has no menus at the front or the end of the project, and it plays upon start. So I go to iDVD >file>onestep DVD from movie>select movie then insert dvd and it burns, But it burns it as 4:3, not the 16:9 I saved it as. I see nowhere to change this setting. Am I limited to only doing 4:3 projects with this type of dvd?

    I'm very surprised that if you followed the references I gave you, you are still having problems.
    Another solution is to use something called Anamorphizer that sets the file's widescreen flag so that it is recognized as anamorphically squeezed widescreen.
    Get Anamorphizer at http://homepage.mac.com/sith33/FileSharing34.html
    Make sure Quicktime 7 is open before you try Anamorphizer. (NOTE: You MUST use Quicktime 7 and NOT Quicktime X)
    Place a copy of your movie clip in a new folder and drag that clip over the Anamorphizer icon. This should create a second file in that folder that start with Anamorphic- This is the reference movie you drag-and-drop into iDVD. Note that your clip in that folder (which is the movie the reference movie points to, must not be moved or deleted).
    What I do is air projects on our local school board channel and just realized that idvd changes my 16:9 to 4:3 when doing the idvd> file>one step dvd from movie option.
    BTW, how does the DVD play in your computer? There may be an issue with the school board channel playback.

  • How do I automatically scale a layer to fit a canvas while maintaining the original aspect ratio?

    I'm currently tasked with reformatting 3,000 product images (thumbnail, normal, and large sizes for each) for a new online store. To do that, I'm trying to create a Photoshop (CS6) action that can automate the process as much as possible because I have a hard deadline and not a lot of time to get it all done. Where I'm running into issues is scaling the images automatically once I've used File-->Place. My canvas sizes are all square (670px X 670px, 250px X 250px, and 125px X 125px), but the product images I'm placing on the canvases are almost always rectangular with the height greater than the width at about a 2:3 ratio. I need to scale them so that the image is touching the top and bottom edges of the canvas and the width is adjusted accordingly with the image centered horizontally.
    I found the program below on another thread, but it's not working exactly like I need it to. It mentions "maintain aspect ratio," but when I run it, the image I'm trying to place ends up getting stretched to fill the entire canvas rather than the width adjusting to the height once the height has reached its maximum. I have no experience with JavaScript, so I'm having a difficult time adjusting the code to meet my needs. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am a writer who is WAY out of his comfort zone.

    Hum Im not sure Im getting you here… Have you looked at Image Processor…?
    Why are you NOT just using Fit Image and canvas size in your actions…?
    These are all built-in to Photoshop.
    If you wanted to do all 3 sizes in the 1 fly-bye then use script to process…
    If you need extra file naming conventions then script would probably be best…
    All of the above should have NO trouble handling your 3k files…

  • Resize a native window content mantain the aspect ratio..

    Hello,
    I'm using this code top open a native window and load an external SWF into it.
    var tableWindow:NativeWindow;
    var options:NativeWindowInitOptions = new NativeWindowInitOptions();
    options.systemChrome = NativeWindowSystemChrome.STANDARD;
    options.type = NativeWindowType.UTILITY;
    tableWindow = new NativeWindow(options);
    tableWindow.title = 'MyWin';
    tableWindow.width = 600;
    tableWindow.height = 500;
    tableWindow.stage.color = 0x000000;
    tableWindow.stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    tableWindow.stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
    tableWindow.addEventListener(NativeWindowBoundsEvent.RESIZING, resizeDisplay, false, 0, true);
    tableWindow.addEventListener(Event.CLOSE, closeWin);
    tableWindow.activate();
    after opening a window i load the swf into it:
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var context:LoaderContext;
    context = new LoaderContext();
    context.allowCodeImport = true;
    context.applicationDomain = new ApplicationDomain();
    loader.load(new URLRequest("app:/myswf.swf"), context);
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, loadFlash);
    I have several problems.. if i use a ScaleMode different than NO_SCALE in main swf and/or in the loaded SWF the file is shown wrong. I have a correct window but the swf is displayed HUGE into the window.. so i've decided to use NO_SCALE as ScaleMode
    Is there a way to mantain the aspect ratio of the window AND (more important) resize ALSO the swf loaded into it?
    Thank you

    I rarely do Flex but I've done a lot of AIR for AS projects and I find their windows to have this bizarre behavior as well.
    I think 2 things are important in my limited experience. To keep aspect ratio I set it to NO_BORDER. This maintains the aspect ratio but also allows resizing.
    Second on my main class I explicitly set the main SWF to a height and width:
    e.g.
    package yada {
         [SWF(width=xxx,height=xxx)]
         public class MyApp extends.....
    If I didn't set that in the AS3 code explicitly (the XML didn't matter at all) the SWF would be the original size. Now your content should be at the size you specify in your window and allow resize.
    Lastly, you're already paying attention to resizing:
    tableWindow.addEventListener(NativeWindowBoundsEvent.RESIZING, resizeDisplay, false, 0, true);
    I think you need to handle that manually. As the user intends to grow or shrink the window you need to override their resize and set the height and width explicitly based on what they try to do, forcing the outer windows size to always be a proper aspect ratio.

  • Aspect ratio out of whack...

    Hello,
    I find occasionally when I import a movie into Logic 9 the aspect ratio goes out of whack. The same clip opens fine in Quicktime. I can uncheck 'Keep Aspect Ratio' in the video settings and rough the ratio into something that looks normal again but I have to do the same thing everytime I open the project. Is there a way to work around that?
    Thanks,
    Duane

    I have a similar problem with clips shot in "cinema" mode in a JVC camcorder. I have been able to edit them in the older iMovie HD version, but not in iMovie 09. If Apple doesn't address this problem, I'm not going to have much use for the 09 version, which is too bad because it has desirable features.
    If anyone has found a work-around, please let us know.

  • How to keep original aspect ratio when cropping in Camera Raw?

    How to keep original aspect ratio when cropping in Camera Raw? Cant figure it out! With shift, the aspect ratio is 1:1. But I didnt set it to 1:1 (I checked "normal").

    The Shift key works once you’ve set your crop ratio.  DSLRs would typically do 2:3 and others sometimes do 3:4.

  • Way to keep original size and aspect ratio?

    I've got 3 clips (from Snapz 2) I've created for a video tutorial at 507x196 and I'd like to use iMovie to put it all together. The problem is iMovie appears to only allow 3 aspect ratios which clips out both sides and then resizes it to fit, which isn't what I need. Is there any way to keep the original aspect/size as the clip? or a suggestion for a Mac app (free or low cost) that does?
    Thanks!
    Dan

    iMovie assumes you want to output for TV or iPhone so you are limited to 16:9. 4:3, or 3:2.
    With QuickTime Pro version 7, you can choose any dimensions you need. It costs about $30. You can get it online from Apple.

  • How to keep the stage aspect ratio when stage width=100%?

    Hey,
    if I would like to make an animation that always fits into the browser window by fitting the width to 100% I'm having trouble keeping the aspect ratio of the stage's height. I can only configure 100% there which will stretch the content also to 100% of the browser window's height. If I configure a pixel value for the height, then I am also stuck on this value.
    All I want is the stage to adjust to the width of the browser window, and the height of the stage to preserve the aspect ratio depending on the width.
    this video shows what I mean. unfortunately I am not familiar with coding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=hrLt0Y9QAY8
    Can somebody help me?

  • After pasting a crop, how can I keep that aspect ratio?

    I am using LR3.2.   I often use "Previous" to paste settings onto a picture, including a crop with an aspect such as 5x7.  When I then go into the crop tool and grab one of the corners to resize the crop, it snaps back to the "Original" aspect ratio.  Is there a way to tell it to keep the same crop ratio I just pasted, without having to reselect that aspect each time?

    It's a bug.
