Keeping a Vodcast up to date

OK - we're running a surfing related vodcast:
http://www.surfline.com/vodcast
If you drop this into a RSS reader it immediately updates the TEXT, DESCRIPTION, LENGTH etc, as/when we change the xml file. However, if you drop this in a podcast subscription in itunes, you have to cancel the subscription and re-subscribe to see any new videos, despite setting options in preferences... (check hourly/daily etc) and it doesn't seem to want to keep old episodes.
If I search the podcast directory, WITHOUT subscribing, I see the new stuff, If I subscribe, I just get stuck with the old stuff I got when I subscribed and it never changes
For example - the current "TRAILER" episode is correctly title "Revolutions" (about board design), but shows a trailer from a video we served about a week ago. (called "Down the line" - big waves in Hawaii)
Am I missing something here? I think I followed the vodcast API to the letter and no joy. Is there an XML/Vodcast guru who could take a look at our XML and see if they can see a problem? The stuff we're serving is effing killer and we'd hate to start off as a bust.
(PS - anyone who can solve this for us will get a free year subscription to surfline.com - hope that doesn't violate forum guidelines!)
Thanks!
Graeme

i have multiple devices backed up to the same computer each with different data. how do i keep them from syncing all data when i back up or transfer stuff from the computer to a device? one is an iphone 6 and the others are ipad mini first gens, each ipad has 64gb and the iphone has 128, need to keep the data seperate as they are not all mine

Itunes content and pics are NOT part of the backup that itunes performs.
Backing up, updating, and restoring iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone software
You should transfer any purchases from iphone regularly:  File>Transfer Purchases  , if they fail to be transferred when you sync.
You buy one and only one download.  It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your purchases.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow.

    Any adivice?

If i am using 11G andrtp is 11g but on rtp side if they configure SSL, is it mandatory to do it from our side also?No it not mandatory to enable SSL at your end however you have to configure identity and trsut at your end.
Any update on my regular question(The main forum question)? You mentioned that you are posting message from 10g to 11g and as per log you are sending it to URL - https://dev-nog.server:443/b2b/transportServlet
So few things which I see as a problem are-
    1. You should use URL https://hostname:soa_server_ssl_port/b2b/httpReceiver instead of https://dev-nog.server:443/b2b/transportServlet
    2. SOA server SSL port should be enabled (SSL should be enabled on SOA server)
    3. You should configure wallet at 10g side to contain trust cert of 11g server

Photomerge interactive is no longer available in 12.  I wasted 4 hours trying to find the option.  Then read in a forum that the feature had been discontinued.  Interactive is the primary reason that I keep the product up-to-date.  When will the feature be returned?

No one knows if the interactive dialog will return, except adobe and adobe is not saying.
What operating system are you using?
On windows there is a way to get it back, but not if your using a mac.

fair enough.  No need for any unnecessary posts either.  You issue had been addressed ad nauseum already in this forum had you bothered to search this forum (as forum etiquette would dictate) before posting.
In any case, I hope that your problem was solved.

  • Keep the user up to date

I have a servlet that does a lot of processing within a for loop.
i.e. it takes a lot of time for the server to finish its job.
    e.g.
    for(1000 objects)
       //do work
      //takes very long
}what i would like to do is to keep the user up to date of the current status of the processing e.g. if the servlet is working on object no. 500, the user will be updated accordingly. I am looking for a very user friendly method if it is at all possible because the users may not be technical users.
If you have any ideas please message me.
any help would be appreciated. thnx

    thnx for the valuable discussion.
"no. as long as you don't close the OutputStream, you're still in the same response. you just can't send another full response. "
what do you mean by full response?
What i really want is that when the user presses the button on the browser he can follow up the long long wait he has to put up with. It can be hours.
So basically the ideal thing would be to have a small box at the side of the window. when i press the button it starts showing how many objects have been executed, how many are left and how much time it has taken to execute up to the current status.
It sounds a bit complicated, but i think it should is not be a new problem.
You are right!!! there can be many clients at the same time (i.e. waiting for their own processes to finish) and i want to supply each of them their specific information.
thank you for your help so far, i appreciate it

  • Kalu: Keeping Arch Linux Up-to-date

    Hi all,
Yes, there are already a few “update notifier” out there, but I couldn’t find one that would fit my needs (granted I didn’t search too hard, I was also interested in making my own as a fun exercice…) so I decided to make a new one.
kalu (which could stand for “Keeping Arch Linux Up-to-date”) is a small application that will add an icon to your systray and sit there, regularly checking if there’s anything new for you to upgrade. As soon as it finds something, it’ll show a notification to let you know about it. (In other words, revolutionary. )
    What kalu can check for:
    - updated packages (A word about this: kalu does not sync your "actual" databases, to avoid potential problems, but instead uses temporary copies of the dbs.)
    - updated watched packages (i.e. packages not installed, but for which you still wanna know when there's an update)
    - updated AUR packages
    - updated watched AUR packages (same as watched ones, but for AUR packages. Who would've guessed?)
    - news (from archlinux.org)
(on its tooltip, kalu can also report how many (if any) dbs can be synced)
When system/AUR upgrades are available, notifications can include a button to start the system/AUR upgrades. You can specify the command line to be executed when the button is clicked.
And for the fun of it, it comes with an integrated "system updater," to do what `pacman -Syu` does but in a GTK GUI. Because why not? Also, I wanted one. :-)
The system updater can also execute one (or more) command lines of your choice after a successfull upgrade, and you can use a variable ($PACKAGES) to be replaced by the list of upgraded packages. (Note that the list actually is of all packages involved in the sysupgrade, i.e. also those removed or added, e.g. when a package is replaced by another one.)
If you don't like it/the idea of a graphical system updater, and not using it isn't enough, you can use configure option --disable-updater and turn kalu into a notifier only.
From v1.1.0 onwards, two command line options - --manual-checks (-m) and --auto-checks (-a) - allow to run manual/auto checks from command line. No GUI will be used at all, everything gets printed on stderr/stdout (using the same templates as for notifications).
This can be done without the need for a DISPLAY/running X server (i.e. no GTK init performed), thus works from a tty or through SSH. This can also be useful to use kalu from scripts.
Alongside those options is a configure option (--disable-gui) to make kalu a small CLI-only binary (i.e. no dependency to GTK nor libnotify), which could be useful on GUIless box (e.g. servers), where kalu can then still be used to check for upgrades, watched packages, etc
With v1.2.0 it is now possible to have kalu re-show the last notifications. So if you missed them or forgot what it was about, one click will re-show all notifications instantly without the need to ran the checks again. And, somewhat similarly to what happens after a system upgrade using kalu's updater, you can now use variable $PACKAGES on the command line to perform AUR updates. Can be useful to start some helper/script to handle the update of those packages automatically for you.
Also note that kalu's source code (and issue tracker) has been moved to a git repo (was mercurial before), and is now hosted on github.
Thanks to Painless Rob for his great icons.

Hopefully someone may find it useful.

  • Why do I keep getting an error "insufficient data for an image" when opening a document

why do I keep getting an error "insufficient data for an image" when opening a document in Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06

I am also having this problem, especially with scanned documents. Since I need to download scanned documents in my work this is a big problem!Sometimes I can read but not save the document, sometimes one or two of the pages will be blank from the start. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10). I tried reducing the page zoom, a suggested workaround on this page: Acrobat: “Insufficient data for an image” error after updating to 10.1.4 or 9.5.2,  but that did not help at all. FWIW I use a Windows 8.1 PC with 4 GB RAM. I usually download PDFs from the internet using Firefox.

  • What is the best way to keep 7 days most current data in tabledata

    Hi,
Can anybody help me to keep most recent 7 days data in a table? any data older than 7 days should be removed which cen be done once a day.
What is the best way to do this? partition, re_create table or anything else?
    Thanks
    George

Have you considered partitioning the table? You could then drop the oldest partition every day, which would be marginally quicker & easier than deleting the 10,000 rows. 100,000 rows is a pretty small table to partition, but it may be worth considering.
I wouldn't expect there to be a significant difference on query performance no matter how you set this up. You won't reset the high water mark, but that is only important when you are doing a full table scan and Oracle will reuse the space for the current day's data, so it's not like the high water mark will be constantly increasing.

on my laptop icloud comes up and tells me i need to enable the extension to keep chrome bookmarks up to date with the safari bookmarks on your iphone! if someone could help me i would be grateful !!

Once you click "get new recovery key" all data on your sync account is erased forever. There is no way to get that back. If you have data on your iPhone you cannot move it from your iPhone to desktop Firefox. the iPhone sync is 1-way only. Unless you have a Firefox profile somewhere, you will ahve to manually rebuild your bookmarks.

  • Keeping your charts up to date

I have a bookmark to http://culverson.com/keeping-your-charts-up-to-date/ this article explaines how to put a time stamp on the X axis of charts.
My company has installed a Barracuda web filter system and Barracuda blocks access to Culverson.com saying it has somthing to do with proxies. I am not sure what that means, but I do know I will get in big trouble trying to access this now since it is on the Barracuda black list.
Does anyone have a link to a simmilar explanation of how to put a timestamp on the X axis of a chart?

Relying on charts to plot a timestamp is inherently flawed. In my opinion, charts altogether are inherently flawed, except for "quick and dirty" troubleshooting, or where the time component of the measured signal is irrelevant (uncommon). With Charts, each subsequent point is assumed equally spaced, which may be a decent assumption for short periods of time with a deterministic data acquisition.
Instead, use XY Graphs, which allow for arbitrary point spacing in both X and Y directions. This means that over time, error in time measurement does not stack up, but instead always properly represents the absolute time and relative spacing between points.
To show the X axis as a timestamp, right click the XY graph to access the properties of that graph. Go to a tab that says something like "Scales" (I don't have LabVIEW in front of me) and then choose the X-axis scale from the Listbox. Here, you can set the Display Format of the numeric to be shown as an Absolute Time, and you can customize how this time is displayed.
I'm a bit surprised anyone would condone using a Timestamp on a Graph, and I would not recommend this practice when timing is relevant.

  • What is the process to upgrade at full retail, switch SIM cards, and keep old plan with unlimited data feature

I'm on a really old plan...America's Choice Family Share 500, Free N&W, with 2 lines, and each line has the unlimited data feature on the line.
Neither line has a texting package.
I currently have a Droid Bionic (large SIM card) & want to get a Droid Turbo (small SIM card).  It is literally cheaper for me to pay full retail for a phone (actually 2 phones) than switch to a "More Everything" plan because my plan is so old.  Across the two lines, we probably only use 3-5 GB/mo, so we aren't 'heavy' data users, but we aren't using 1-2GB/mo either.
I went into a VZW Corporate store, and they said I should be able to keep my plan with unlimited data if I pay full retail, but the sales person said their system has been knocking off unlimited data for other customers, even for something as small as a SIM card change.
I tried upgrading on verizonwireless.com, and the system tried to kick me out of my America's Choice Family Share 500 plan.
What is the process to get a new phone, pay ~$600 for it, get the new SIM card assigned to the account, and keep my calling plan with unlimited data?
(I also have the option to turn on & off Mobile Hot-Spot for $30/mo at will...but probably only have it active for 1 week a year, if that)
    Thanks!

Just log into your my verizon and order a phone at the full retail price. When you add the phone to the cart you choose 2 yr price, edge or full and then hit add. You will have to choose a plan but that plan does not go into effect since you are buying a phone out of contract, it is just part of the process. You then will not lose the data

Why does Mobile Data notification keep coming up saying 'Mobile Data is turned off for "Numbers" and I have to click on OK to get rid of it? I KNOW it's turned off for that program because that is what I want it to be set at. What I DON'T want is to have to click on OK EVERY TIME I open the program when I'm away from wifi.

That is how it works in general, not just for Numbers. It irritates me on other apps at times, although I can see an argument that if it didn't do that then people would complain about missing functionality after they forgot they had turned data off for an app. At any rate, this is a user to user support forum and we can't do anything about it. If you want to make a suggestion to Apple, following is a place to do that: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
