Keeping track of caret position when using scrollbars

Hi!
I have a jtextarea contained in a jscrollpane, To the jtextarea I have added a caretlistener. The textarea displays a lot of log output that will not be editable. When I move the cursor in the textarea I get updates of the caret position. The problem is that when I use the scrollbars the caret position does not move, which might be the right way. But I would like just that, that is to get an update on which line or position that I am currently on.
The problem is that the log output is very large so I have to keep track on where I am in the log file, and only have a portion of the log information from the file in the textarea.
Some pointers, suggestions or examples would really be appreciated.

yes....
you can do using context listeners....
in the start of context listeners read from the file and add to context ... and when the context becomes inactive write to a file....
for that you should use tomcat4.01 ... cause only tat has servlet 2.3 implementaion.
if you are not using tat .. write to the file every 10 minutes .. atleast you will have the latest update of the counts when something crashes......................

    All 3 of my books transferred over without my having had to do anything at all.  If you're worried about retaining books, you could try moving your ADE 4 to an external drive & confirming that your books are also there.  I believe that the book information is saved elsewhere (separately from the ADE) and it should simply transfer over, but since I only had three books, all library items, I didn't have much to lose.  All I can speak from is my own experience.  I had to get rid of ADE 4 in order to successfully install ADE 2.0.

  • Keep layout position when using Find/Change?

    When using Find/Change in InDesign CS4, each occurrence of the "Found" material is centered in the window, so the page moves around with each find. Is there a way to keep the page in a fixed position when searching through a document?

    Actually, I can think of a shortcut for the hard part: The user uses the
    regular find/change UI to make all their settings. Then, they run the
    script, which will simply use the settings in the UI. Nice, huh! So you
    could get a listBox of all the finds -- select the entry and you get
    taken to the desired location. Click the "change" button and the change
    is made. Here's a proof of concept:

    Obviously very rudimentary: but this does work in CS4. If the list is
    too long, though, the change button will disappear off the bottom of the
    screen. Also, really once the change is made, the item should be removed
    from the list, but there's a bug in CS4 that makes it impossible to do
    that simply, if I recall correctly (or was that only a tree list?)
    Also, I have found that the only sure way of getting the entire spread
    to show is as I've done it above (and it would need much more error
    checking than this -- for instance, overset text).

  • Keeping zen micro backlight on when using the car charg

    Is there any way to keep the backlight on, when using the car charger. I have my zen micro hooked up the my car stereo. It would be nice to be able to see the screen at night. The lights for the buttons stay lit, but not for the screen.

    RMSkater: There's no "always on" setting. This is for good reason I think as the type of light Creative use will wear out with a few thousand hours of use, which will get eaten up relati'vely quickly if "always on". At least I believe that's what Creative have said in the past.

  • Track Changes in Pages when using Voiceover

    Has anyone successfully used theTrack Changes feature in Pages when using Voiceover? I can find out how many changes there are and navigate to them, but it's not good at telling me what the change is so I can decide to accept or reject. Has anyone got any tips for using this feature? I'm using Pages 5.2.

  • How can I keep a state machine readable when using large amounts of in/outputs

    Hello, I am new to Labview,
    Read trough the fundamentals and the
    getting started and a lot of examples.
    What I want to do is use a standard
    state machine from the template, and add some stages, for example
    orange, apple, banana. At this point I can use numeric controls to
    put in the amount of oranges, apples, bananas there are. I can even
    use a led to tell the user which state of the state-machine is
    active.
    The thing is there will be more numeric
    controls and more leds and it would be nice if the code would still
    be readable when there are 20 inputs and 20 outputs.
    Questions
    (1) It would be nice if I could use the
    typedef to select the right state AND the corresponding numeric
    controls and leds out of a cluster or an array kind of structure to
    keep the number of wires low. Is this possible, how can I do this?
    (2) I tried to put the numeric controls
    into a cluster but that way I can't put the numeric control for the
    apples in the upper right corner and the numeric control for the
    oranges in the lower left down corner of the front panel.
    (3) An example would be really nice, I
    know that I saw some examples describing this problem but there are
    so many examples that after a few hours of searching I haven't found
    the right one yet.

    calculations on fruit, I am only using this to make the question

    I can only start a proper answer but I might as well start with that.
    When I am developing State Machines I have to think about what data is used and manipulated in each state. I then have to think about where am i going to keep and manage the data. I list all of the fields that are "touched" in each state and what values are used together and which are independent form the others. After this phase of the analysis, I usually have some data structure defined (cluser array etc).
    Then I flipp from thinking about the state to thinking about the data (after all this is LabVIEW and the data-flow paradigm is critical). If I see data that is only used by the State machine and is used in many of the states, then the data structure get put in a shift-register for easy access in each state. This maybe enough of an answer for your fruity question.
    When i see data that is shared or only used in a handful of states then I concider putting the data in an Action Engine. Depending on how you design your AE, you can access each of the fruit totoal by name or increment etc as required.
    If your app demands many fileds that are all related (can't be broken into distinct data structures) then create a cluster that has all of your values that are used by the AE. Then create an Wrapper VI for each call of the AE but only put the associated fields on the FP of the wrapper and then bundle that value into the cluster and invoke the AE.

  • Certain LinkedIn functions are not working. Browser keeps on looping, for instance when using the search function

    I go to LinkedIn and type in a name in the search box, for instance "Peter" and hit enter.
    Normally, this will return with a list of people with the first name "Peter", listed according to degrees connectivity.
    Instead the web site never loads the next page. It appears that it keeps loading the page over and over again, but with no result.
    In the end I have to press back or use another browser (Safari) to load the page and use the search function.

    When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Bypass Firefox's Cache
    Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. Any difference? If not...
    2. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely
    Edit > Preferences > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
    3. If needed, remove your linkedin.com cookies
    While viewing a page on the site:
    Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    Remove each cookie then try reloading the page. You probably will need to log in again. Does that help?

  • ITunes keeps stealing focus from itself when used with Windows Live Messenger 2011

    Dear Community,
    I've always used WinAmp as my default music player, which worked like a charm both at playing music and showing my 'Currently Listening To' in WLM 2011.
    However, I personally think iTunes has better library management, and since I bought an iPod Shuffle (4GB, small stick without buttons, think 3th gen?) I needed it anyway just to be able to listen to my music when I'm in the bus or train, so I made the switch.
    It really works quite nice after you get to know the program, minor flaws here and there, but no really big deals. (except the lack of FLAC support, had to recode like 60% of my library, I like lossless audio without a proprietary codec)
    At least, not until I used it to show the currently playing song in WLM2011.
    Since upgrading from iTunes 9 to 10 (10.4.1.10 to be exact, and upgraded after a clean install of Windows 7 SP1, so to make it clear, iTunes 9 was not installed at the time I installed iTunes 10, nor were there any files or leftovers) it just keeps stealing focus. Not from my browser, or other apps, but from itself!
    Whenever I try to edit a song's information and WLM is running, it keeps popping back to the main window, which makes correcting songs (like putting the artist in the right column) a real pain in the ***.
    I'm running W7 x64 SP1 (build 7601), all drivers are up to date, WLM 2011 (build 15.4.3538.513) and, if it makes a difference, WLM Plus 5.03.0.716.
    I already have it as 'Default Program' for all possible file extensions.
    I have looked through these forums to see if there's a similar problem and found many, however, they all apply to older versions (iTunes 6 and 7 or MSN 7 and 8) and don't seem to work with this new version.
    If any of you know a way to keep iTunes as my default player and show the currently playing son in WLM2011 without iTunes stealing its own focus, I'd love to hear it!

    hi there, i've had this same issue too for a while...so basically...the problem only happens if you run windows live messenger with compatability mode and while you tell windows live messenger to show what music you're listening to.
    SO the solution to this problem is to:
    1. turn off compatability mode
    OR
    2. turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" to on windows live messenger
    personally i'd rather just turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" because windows live messanger tends to crash a lot when compatability mode is turned off.

  • Trigger based on Position when using analog feedback

    I am developing an application that uses two hydraulic cylinders to move a model in a pitching and plunging motion.
    My hardware consists of a P4 computer running windows XP SP2. The motion controller is a PCI-7350, 2 axis board.
    The two hydraulic cylinders are equipped with analog position sensors which provide the primary feedback signal for the motion control.
    The drive signal from the motion controller is used to open or close a hydraulic valve, closing the loop. The motion portion works great.
    I am using buffered contouring to generate a precise motion on the two axis using a vector space. The update rate is 10mSec and the motion appears to be correct. Is the contour update rate a precise 10mSec if the PID is running at 62.5 uSec?
    My problem is I need to generate a trigger when the controller is on specific positions of the contour. I can't use breakpoints as I am using analog feedback instead of an encoder. I wrote an onboard program that monitors the contour buffer and toggles the breakpoint line when the controller is on or beyond the specific point. It runs ok and is close but, I am getting an occasional timing discrepency of roughly 16 mSecs. ie the trigger will occasionally be  late by more than 1 contour period.
    I tried increasing the size of the buffer to hold all the points as I thought the delays might be occuring when the buffer was being updated. No change in performance. I tried assigning more time to the trigger program as it is the only on board program, but again it seemed to make no difference. I reduced host communications to a minimum, no change.
    I have attached my entire application and a test sample waveform  in a zip file. You can run the application without any hydraulic cylinders if you set max following error to 32768. You should have a trigger pulse on the breakpoint line every 500 mSec.
    Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, you can reach exactly 10 mS update interval with a PID rate
    of 62,5 µSec. You can calculate the actual interval with the forumla
    provided here.
    Of course the accuracy is limited by the accuracy of the onboard
    oscillators of the board but this shouldn't be really relevant.
    Generating triggers based on 2D position data is not a trivial
    task. I have tried to examine your program but it's a bit hard to read.
    I had a look at your onboard program. I don't understand exactly how
    you determine if the axes have reached a trigger position or not. It
    looks like you are only reading values from buffers. For an exact match
    with the physical positions you should read the real position values
    from the axes and compare them with your trigger position buffer. In
    your comparison algorithm you will need to add some tolerance to allow
    some deviation from the ideal trigger position (see image).
    There are several possible solutions for your application. You could
    either try to implement the more advanced comparison in your onboard
    program but I'm not sure if this will result in the performance you
    need. The 7350 provides only a limited amount of CPU power for onboard
    programs. At last it all comes down to the question how good your
    deterministic real-time behavior needs to be. If some ms delay and
    jitter are ok for you then you probably could stick with this approach.
    If you need a better real-time behavior you should consider using
    either an additional real-time board like the PCI-7041/6040E that could run the 2D trigger algorithm or a PCI-7830R board that could run the algorithm on an FPGA.
    There are even more options including the NI SoftMotion Development Module to design your own motion controller using LabVIEW RT but again, this depends on your application needs.

  • Photoshop CS4 is not tracking the mouse pointer when using various tools.

    We have windows 7 Pro 32 bit using adobe CS4.
    Core i5 and core i7 processor
    4GB installed RAM
    ATI 1GB 4570 Graphics card.
    Also on various other hardware spec the same error.
    The tool brush, pen or erase etc is not following the mouse pointer smoothly.  There is a delay and if you attempt to draw quickly e.g a circle you instead get a jagged linepolygon shape.  The writing is trailing the pointer by less than one second.
    We have tried installing on a pc with no other software to test if there is a conflict and get the same error.
    Can anyone advise what the resolution is.

    Migrating user from one machine to another should not be a cause of your symptoms.
    Curious two machines in a row. Did this happen before you transferred data/ or di you check.
    You have 14 days to return/exchange if you are not satisfied.
    You could Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379   but I don't see it.
    Did you try making adjustments to trackpad settings
    >Sys Pref>Trackpad> Point & Click>speed

  • Can i use track pad and mouse when using two displays

    I have a second display I wonder if I can use my mouse for the other display and my track pad for my macbook pro.
    if not what will be the solution.
    ps: my second display is a tv.

    Although Apple has enabled multiple Finder and Dock display functionality as an option within Mission Control preferences, there is no means to assign pointing devices to different displays.
    I have two Apple devices: Magic Trackpad and Mouse. One mouse pointer is allocated to both devices regardless which screen I am using. That's the way it is.

  • How mute a Single Midi track instead of all when using multi-timbral instrument

    I added a Multi-Timbral Instument, opens up 16 midi channels. When i want to mute/solo just one of those 16 midi tracks, all of them are muted/solo-ed. How to mute/solo them individually?

    If you have only one single mono audio track then duplicate it (select audio track then hold down SHIFT and OPTION/ALT key simultaneously and drag the mono audio clip down to the audio track below, it will give you a duplicate) after doing that select and double click the duplicated mono track and in the viewer Pan that hard right (1). Finally select both audio tracks and hit Option+L. You now have stereo pair.

  • Freezing when using scrollbar

    We are generating with Designer 9i and Headstart 9i. In all of our multi record blocks with scrollbars, when we press the arrow on the srollbar, the java session goes into an infinite loop 5 out of 10 times. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this.

    Do you have the original MacBook Pro installer disks?
    If you do, boot it up with the startup manager:

    If you don't, and you lost them call AppleCare for a replacement set:

    If you bought it third hand, ask for the seller to call AppleCare if they lost their set, and ask them to give them to you, as they don't belong to them.
    Once you boot the installer disk, select the language, and go to the Disk Utility in the Utilities menu. Select repair permissions, and repair disk, and tell us the results.

  • MacBook Pro w/ retina keeps crashing in some apps when using RIGHT CLICK?

    Hi every time I RIGHT CLICK in some apps "The Spinning Rainbow Beach Ball of Death" comes, I can also see in CPU usage that the freezing software top to 99,9% of usage.. I recent;y updated to 10.8, but in a week it is the first time I meet this problem. No apple apps nor Google chrome do that, only apps such Evernote, uTorrent, Google Sketchup, Microsoft office, Skype do that but not always.. Sometimes apps work great and when I reboot my Mac, and use right click in them, BANG! Freeze! I've tried repair permission in disk utility, but the problem persist. What can I do?

  • Ho can I use left / right dock position when using two screens?

    OSX 10.9 makes a big thing about having the Dock on the active screen.  This certainly works when the Dock is at the botom of the screen, although it does seem sluggish at times before it appears.  I have tended to have my Dock on the left of the screen as I was getting annoyed at losing the bottom part of the screen on my MBP 13". 
    Mavericks doesnt seem to like this and regardless on how I configure the second screen I can't get the Dock to jump away from the MBP screen, apart from closing the lid on my laptop.  Still happening when I put the two screens vertically rather than horizontally (so that the left side of the screen is not a transition zone between the two).
    This is quite frustrating.  I have tried using Dock at bottom again and am just going to struggle with that having not used it for many years now.
    I wonder whether they have just assumed that most people have the Dock at the bottom and functionality has been built around that.
    Any ideas out there?  Apple, any comments?

    Hello again Kirby, I was able to find a workaround that prevents colors from looking overly vibrant on the external display. It seems the "Swap Displays" option under Aperture's monitor configuration drop-down is the culprit. When this is disabled, colors on both monitors match in vibrancy (as much as one can expect given how different the two screens are). But as soon as you enable "Swap Displays", colors on the external display become twice as vibrant. So then the question becomes, how does one show the thumbnail viewer on the laptop screen while viewing the fullscreen image on the external display?
    The workaround is along the lines of what you posted. In dual-monitor mode, Aperture places the thumbnail viewer by default onto whichever screen holds the system menubar. So by placing the system menubar on the laptop screen, I'm able to work in fullscreen mode in the configuration I want without having to activate "Swap Displays", thereby avoiding the boosted colors bug.
    I'll be sending the issue to Apple Feedback now that I have a better understanding on what exactly causes the issue and how to replicate it. Thanks again Kirby for your assistance.
