Kernel panic sometime after 10.4.9 software-updated, SMB?
Apparently samba-networking related - makes sense: it happened as I saved a BBEdit file to an already-SMB-mounted Window2000 server volume (across wired ethernet). Earlier I'd rebooted a couple of times after the update (once then it asked me to, a second time to check everything was OK).

Then, I suspect your permissions are a bit out of sorts. Launch Disk Utility and repair the permissions and try downloading again. If still no go, create a new admin user account, log into it, and try downloading. If that's successful, then the problem lies within the old account, most likely a conflicting or corrupted preference file, and you'll have to sort that out.

Kernel Panic only after I install 16GiB RAM but it passed memtest and AHT
Kernel Panics occur after I installed the 16GiB RAM(Corsair Vengeance Laptop Memory Kit 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL10 PC3 12800 (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10) in my MacBook Pro 17" 2011 early. It might appear in login window, or after using Safari for 2 or 3 hours. If I did't use the MBP overnight and just let it run, there would be strong possibility that kernel panic didn't occur. But on the next day when I went up and start using the computer, the kernel panic occur in half an hour.
I run the memtest for 12+ hours and Apple Hardware Test for 19+ hours, but no error was found. I tried OS X Lion 10.7.4 and OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 GM, and even a clean install of 10.7.4, but it still occur.
However, when I install one of the 16GiB a.k.a 8GiB, kernel panic never occur. I even tried one 8GiB with another my old 4GiB ram, and kernel panic didn't occur either.
I've tried to fix the problems for 2 weeks, and I did everything I can. So, can anyone tell me which part might be bad, Mac or RAM? Should I goto Genius Bar or ask Corsair for RMA?
Here's my latest panic log:

Thank you for your reply.
My 8GiB RAM is also two 4GiB DDR3 1600MHz (SAMSUNG) and it was running very well.
I also checked the intel documents (http://ark.intel.com/products/50067/Intel-Core-i7-2720QM-Processor-(6M-Cache-up- to-3_30-GHz), and it says:
Memory Types
DDR3-1066/1333/1600
If you have read my original reply to you post, I did mention that someimes it will work and sometimes it won't. Your Samsung might be rated at 1600MHz but the CL could be higher than your Corsair which is why it worked.
The memory Type you read in the link you provided is motherboard/logicboard depended. Your Logic board is rated at 1333MHz. So going 1600MHz will not benefit you since you're locked at 1333MHz.
good luck -
Kernel panic immediately after connecting Android via USB
Hi!
I am getting a kernel panic immediately after I connect my Android phone via MTP. It wasn't happening before (on pre-Yosemite version).
It may be relevant to know that I installed Samsung Kies before, which installs it's kernel modules, but I removed both modules and software itself since then.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -

After doing a recent software update, our macbook stopped opening up Safari. We keep getting a problem report for Safari. How do we fix this?
Please copy and paste the entire report in your Reply. That should reveal what the problem is.
No need to send anymore reports to Apple. One is sufficient. It's only for the developers perusal. -

Lost Playlists after 10.6.5 Software Update
After 10.6.5 Software Update all my Playlists have disappeared. On opening iTunes after Update I was also prompted to choose a Library. I chose my usual one on an external Firewire drive... but no Playlists. There were loads and I'm mightily annoyed.
I've tried Time Machine but it hasn't backed up my external drive.
... help? ... solution?
Cheers.I haven't opened iPhoto yet!
I've seen Apple Launching Mac OSX 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 Today but an update to iTunes is not available yet.
My 'old' iTunes Libraries comprised over 176 GB of music, movies, app, podcasts etc. All the files are still on the drive, but I have to Rebuild the Libraries and Playlists. I haven't figured out any other way than Create a New Library then importing to the new Library. This make a copy of the originals in a new Media folder, so I've had to delete files on another drive then copy the original Library there so I can Import. It will take ages.
I'll be a tad upset for myself if the iTunes update fixes this after I've done so much, but please for others.
OK, I'll see what happens to iPhoto now. -

After the most recent software update message saying "not enough application memory"
after the most recent software update to 10.9.2 i get a recurring message saying "Insufficient application memory". what is the cause ? and what is the remedy?
Fatma50,
to take the recurring message at its word, the cause of insufficient application memory is that a particular app requires more free RAM than is currently available, and the remedy would be providing it with more free RAM, either by closing other opened apps or by upgrading the amount of RAM in your MacBook Pro. -
Is there Any way to sync what's on my ipod(playlists in particular) INTO my iTunes? Somehow most of my playlists disappeared after i did a software update.
Use a program like YamiPod to export the playlists back into iTunes.

Fans are always on after late Oct. automatic software update
The fans are always on after yesterday's automatic software update (late Oct 2011).
The fans run at 5500, cpu temp is at 85C with only Mail and Safari on, and Activity monitor shows that the 95% of the CPU activity is consumed by CoreserviceSD, whatever that may be. What's going on?
MBP 2011, 17", 2.2, i7, 8GB.CoreserviceSD does a lot of display services for Finder. It is used to display Icons, for example.
Searches for CoreServiceSD suggest SOME other users have solved this problem by clearing caches.
