Kernel Warning; WARNING: cpu module 'cpu.AuthenticAMD.15' has API version 0

I installed patch 127128-11 on my solaris 10 x86 server and now I see this warning when I booted.
WARNING: cpu module 'cpu.AuthenticAMD.15' has API version 0,
kernel requires API version 1
The notes in the README state you will only see it after the first reboot and not afterwards.
NOTE 11: On first reboot after applying this rev of Kernel Patch (127128-11),
the following message may appear:
WARNING: cpu module 'cpu.AuthenticAMD.15' has API version 0,
kernel requires API version 1
This message can be safely ignored and will not occur on subsequent
reboots. This error occurs due to the method in which Deferred
Activation patches are installed, and in particular, in the way
in which kernel modules that are being obsoleted by this patch are
deleted. The error is benign and is safe to ignore.
Why do I see this warning every time I reboot the server?
Thanks,
Chris

Try:
1) touch /reconfigure ; "init 6"
and
2) after (1), boot "init 6" and look for the boot_archive being regenerated. If you don't see this message, I would manually re-do the boot archive.
There is a new kernel version now; 138889-08
Use PCA at http://www.par.univie.ac.at/solaris/pca/ to analyze your system (pca -l or pca -L). Then, if you want to patch:
- install the patch utilities patch first
- download all patches into a given directory (read pca docs)
- drop to single user mode
- pca -n -i first to get all the userland and no reboot/reconfig patches in
then
- pca -i to finish it off.
I've been doing this for some time and its been working well. Always backup and be careful.

  • Warning: /lib/modules/3.14.17-1-lts/modules.devname not found

I am trying to use linux-lts but get this error, I'm using rEFInd. I am able to boot the standard arch kernel, but when selecting the other entry in refind I just get the error.
Warning: /lib/modules/3.14.17-1-lts/modules.devname not found - ignoring
    The file does exist though.

I sorted it, though not exactly as I want it. I had to change the initrd line in /boot/refind_linux.conf to be initramfs-linux-lts.img, I had previously copied the boot line and created a new one with that initrd line, but that didn't work. As I have things now I can only boot the lts kernel, if I want to change to the other I need to manually change that line before rebooting.

  • Mkinitcpio WARNING: No modules were added to the image.

I am trying to build a pf-kernel using this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … raditional
Everything went fine, but when I try to make the initramfs, I get this error:

I searched the warning message, but all the posts I found were related to other errors, like a "module not found" or so. As you can see, I'm not getting any actual error message, just the warning.
Is this message just because the MODULES line of mkinitcpio.conf is blank, or something else?

I definitely ran `make modules_install`. Twice actually, because I thought something went wrong the first time.
A find command shows that there are some modules, but only a handful. My guess is that I forgot to copy a good config before running menuconfig, so I'll try building again.
I was wondering why it only took 10 minutes to build.

  • How could i get the kernel and user cpu usage for each process

    Hi all,
In order to monitor the system CPU usage, I would like write a script to gather the kernel and user CPU usage for each process, like the prstat or top does. As always missing the shortlived kernel usage, prstat or top cann't get the precise CPU usage. I checked with the dtrace syscall, proc and fbt provider, but don't get which one is useful.
Please provide your comments and suggestion.
    Thanks in adv

As I've studied the "dtrace" for a while, and seems Sun gives a pretty high score on this new feature.....I do want to know whether there's some probe can work for it, like writing a "dtrace" version prstat. You can write a prstat without dtrace. Because that's just polling at specific intervals and reading some process structures from /proc. You could have dtrace fire a probe every 5 seconds and read the same thing, but it wouldn't really be using any features of dtrace. Trhying to write it "in dtrace" doesn't make much sense.
What you could do that would be harder via other methods is to fire a probe at process exit that displayed the process information including total CPU time. They could print exactly when processes exited. Doing that without dtrace would be very difficult.

  • %ACE-2-901001 kernel: Warning:-MTS queue is full messages on ACE 4710

I am getting the following messages repeated continually in my Admin context
Apr 18 2012 14:42:27 CHIACE01: %ACE-2-901001 kernel: Warning:- MTS queue is full for opcode 4062 sap 63994 pid 18847 clear idle debug plugin sessions or telnet/ssh connections to recover
    How do i clear them?
How can I check whether i have idle debug sessions?
or telnet/ssh sessions ( as far as i am aware no open telnet sessions, as they alway time out after 5 minutes)!

    Hi,
    Could be related to CSCtn85846
    Symptom:
A warning message is displayed as follows: "Warning:- MTS queue is full for opcode %d sap %d pid %d clear idle debug plugin sessions or telnet/ssh connections to recover"
    Conditions:
MTS messages to command shell are not processed as it executes user commands. Because a user command may take a while to terminate, the command shell can receive many MTS messages which won't be processed and run out of buffer space for the MTS queue. When this happens, a warning message is displayed.
    Workaround:
This warning can be ignored. User can close all debug plugin sessions and terminate command execution in all telnet/ssh connections to stop display of warnings.

This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I don't think it is being maintained.
Starting with the Firefox 4 version, Firefox is using a "local" Start Page with the address of '''about:home'''. It looks similar to the old Start Page, but it isn't exactly the same.

    Help?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

  • Please help with: WARNING: The user_dump_dest init.ora parameter has been d

    Hi gurus,
I have been getting this warning for a while but I can't find a way to get rid of it.
    Fri Apr 08 10:29:04 2011
WARNING: The user_dump_dest init.ora parameter has been deprecated.
WARNING: Please remove the user_dump_dest parameter from the init.ora file.
WARNING: The diagnostic_dest init.ora parameter now determines the location of the diagnostic data
WARNING: The new location for the user logs and traces is c:\oracle\diag\rdbms\orcl\orcl\trace
I looked at the init.ora and init_SID.ora file and the pfile but I do not see this parameter. The only places I see this parameter user_dump_dest is through the show parameter user_dump_dest is SQL*Plus and the EM Initialization Parameters, and they both show c:\oracle\diag\rdbms\orcl\orcl\trace.
Please help me fix this warning.
    Thank you!
    Ben

Starting in Oracle11g we not longer have many of the original OFA file system structures and we see that the ancient dump destination init.ora parms (core_dump_dest, background_dump_dest, user_dump_dest) are placed by a single diagnostic_dest parameter, the place to go when Oracle wants to take a dump.
You can use the new initialization parameter diagnostic_dest to specify an alternative location for the diag directory contents.
As of Oracle Database 11g Release 1, the diagnostics for each database instance are located in a dedicated directory, which can be specified through the DIAGNOSTIC_DEST initialization parameter. The structure of the directory specified by DIAGNOSTIC_DEST is as follows:
    <diagnostic_dest>/diag/rdbms/<dbname>/<instname>
This location is known as the Automatic Diagnostic Repository (ADR) Home. For example, if the database name is proddb and the instance name is proddb1, the ADR home directory would be <diagnostic_dest>/diag/rdbms/proddb/proddb1.
The following files are located under the ADR home directory:
Trace files - located in subdirectory <adr-home>/trace
Alert logs - located in subdirectory <adr-home>/alert. In addition, the alert.log file is now in XML format, which conforms to the Oracle ARB logging standard.
Core files - located in the subdirectory <adr-home>/cdumd
Incident files - the occurrence of each serious error (for example, ORA-600, ORA-1578, ORA-7445) causes an incident to be created. Each incident is assigned an ID and dumping for each incident (error stack, call stack, block dumps, and so on) is stored in its own file, separated from process trace files. Incident dump files are located in <adr-home>/incident/<incdir#>. You can find the incident dump file location inside the process trace file.

    Hey,
Regarding high CPU issue and the two processes you have mentioned:
    1. Overview of IOS Auth Manager: The capabilities of devices connecting to a given network can be different, thus requiring that the network support different authentication methods and authorization policies. The Cisco IOS Auth Manager handles network authentication requests and enforces authorization policies, regardless of authentication method. The Auth Manager maintains operational data for all port-based network connection attempts, authentications, authorizations, and disconnections and as such, serves as a session manager. So looks like this device is managing good amount of AAA sessions.

as corlettk already told you: avoid those API whenever possible.
    Regarding your cases:
    * SignalHandler: proprietary API, there's not alternative. Use it if you must. Fail gracefully if it isn't there
    * Hashtable: seems like you simply picked the wrong one. Use the one in java.util
    * Base64 stuff: Plenty of free (BSD licensed) implementations out there, I'm sure there's one in commons-codec as well. Use those instead.

  • High CPU utilization on CSS 11501 version sg0750303

    Hi everyone,
I have the problem about High CPU utilization on CSS 11501 version sg0750303.
Our customer has used one pair of CSS 11501 (active-standby).
As a matter of convenience, called "Old CSS" after here in this post.
However traffic via Old CSS had been increasing so customer decided to add one more
pair (active-standby) of CSS to separate traffic.
Yesterday we installed new two CSS 11501 version sg0750303 (active-standby).
As a matter of convenience, called "New CSS" after here in this post.
Today, active CSS 11501 and standby CSS 11501 which were installed yesterday (New CSSs)
    indicates High CPU utilization.
    Active CSS 11501:
    Peak CPU utilization: about 85%
    Average CPU Utilization: about 60%
    Standby CSS 11501:
    Peak CPU utilization: about 40%
    Average CPU Utilization: unknown
I do not understand why CPU utilization of both New CSSs become high.
The traffic pass through New CSS less than Old CSS, because the traffic is separated into
    Old CSS and New CSS.
And CSS's configuration parameters (service, content, access-list) also less than Old CSS,
because real servers are also separated into Old CSS and New CSS.
Old CSS indicated average of CPU utilization about 20% before installing New CSSs yesterday,
in spite of all traffic pass through Old CSS only.
I wrote "New CSS remains High CPU utilization", however end users do not feel the
performance issue (e.g., performance delay, communication failure and so on) and
the traffic pass through New CSS normally.
So I have the question "CSS 11501 sg0750303 remains High CPU utilization on normal situation ?"
And customer uses MTRG to poll SNMP for Old CSSs and New CSSs.
So I have the question "CSS 11501 sg0750303 become High CPU utilization in case of receiving
    SNMP polling ?".
Or if this situation is abnormal we need to start investigation.
Would you please let me know how do we investigate this situation.
I found the DDTS CSCek57080 "Performance issue using arrowpoint-cookie with ASR".
Release note of this DDTS says that
A customer was using a CSS pair configuration where arrowpoint-cookie
is being used along with a redundant-index on many content rules. When
the flow rate increased to a few hundred flows/sec, the peer message
queue of the CSS receiving ASR related message began to fill up.
When the peer message queue became over subscribed, the CPU increased
    and the CSS became unstable.
New CSSs have configured redunrant-index on two content rules, and end users do not feel the
performance issue (e.g., performance delay, communication failure and so on) and
the traffic pass through New CSS normally.
So I think this DDTS does not related to this case.
Your information would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,

    Gilles,
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
I got the capture you instructed us.
The following are additional information from our customer.
    At time user traffic path through the active CSS, active CSS indicates;
CPU utilization always range of 30% - 40%
    Peak CPU utilization about 60% - 80%
    At time there is no user traffic pass through active CSS, active CSS indicates;
CPU utilization always range of 0% - 5%
Attached files are named "Active CSS.log" and "Standby CSS.log".
"Active CSS.log" is captured on active CSS and "Standby CSS.log" is captured on
    standby CSS.
I found the following process is using resource by looking the output of
    "shell 1 1 spyReport" command.
    On active CSS,
    tFlowMgrPktR 8ba24070 50 26% ( 1469) 20% ( 26)
    On standby CSS,
    fmPeerMsgTas 8a511510 50 16% ( 176) 10% ( 7)
Your comment would be greatly appreciated.
