As I said in my first post, emptying Safari's cache has no effect, & it is only the the "Back to Topic List" in Discussions that displays this delay. Using the path link (like the "Feedback about Discussions " link at the top of this page) is always as fast as I expect but the "Back to Topic List" one is not.
The two links are identical except that the "&start=0" index suffix is not included in the "Back to Topic List" link. Since the page that loads for either link is identical, I assume that the index suffix has something to do with the phenomenon, but what that might be I have no clue.

    Hi all,
    I have read the long help document on how to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list, and still can't work out what to do.
    I have done a 548 page book, using a document for each chapter, and a book file to put them all together in the right order.
    I now need to make an index at the back, as the author has many quotes throughout the book at the start of each chapter and section.
    I have a list of those people quoted and want to upload this list and get the index feature in InDesign to find all instances of the name occurring in the entire book.
    After reading the help document I still cannot work out how to do this.
    My questions are:
    1. Do you have to use an InDesign document as a source for the list of topics? If so, should the document be added to the book file or outside it?
    It seems a bit recursive to have the list of topics in an ID document that is in the book file.
    2. Once you have uploaded the topics into the Index feature, how do you get it to look for all instances of that 'topic' througout the entire book? I can't figure that out from the help documents. What do I select? Do I do it from the Index panel? Do I highlight the text in the source document? Not sure how to do this...
    3. I need the names to list surname first of the quoted authors in the index. This command seems to be different between various editions of ID. For ID CC 2014.1 is it ctrl+alt+shift+]
    4. To make the surname show first, what do I highlight? The topic? and then do ctrl+alt+shift+] and select find all as well? Or do I have to just go through the text and manually do this and ditch the idea of uploading topics first?
    I am confused as you can see and any help with this is appreciated.

    Sorry 007, I really thought you were posting a trick question as on the OCP tests.
    Anyway, as Justin mentioned, if you have an index on ename, it may be used when doing a comparison predicate statement with the ename value.
    What it depends on are several other things: stats, how many rows in the table, use of an index hint, etc.
    Rather than questioning the group on this, why not just turn on autotrace and run the query for the different scenarios.
    The output will show you if it used the index, number of rows returned, blocks read, etc.

    You can test each of your scenarios, one by one, including use of a hint.

  • Topics don't appear in topic list

    I imported several topics into RoboHelp and checked them into
    source control. Then, after trying to change the colour of a
    conditional build tag, RoboHelp crashed. Now, I have the topics in
    the project folder, source control and the root.fpj file, but they
    don't appear in the RoboHelp topic list.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    I am using RoboHelp 6.

    I deleted the .cpd file and that has fixed the
    problem.

  • Some .htm file not displaying in Topic List, but displaying in RH11 folder

    We are running a project using RH 11, team consist of 3 person (include me)
    But we have problem with many  .htm file from my 1st coworker, file not displaying in Topic List in my Robohelp and 2nd coworker.
    Although we already get the latest file again and again
    But .htm file displaying in all our RH11 folder.
    In my 1st coworker RH, all file displaying in Topic List also RH11 folder, but when file generated then
    Many files from 1st coworker, hyperlink is not working well (broken link / file not found)
    Does anyone have experience about this problem

    First of all, make sure you do not have the following files in source control: .cpd, .pss, .ldb.
    These files contain local information that can cause problems when in source control.
    Then try this:
    Everyone deletes the .cpd file.
    Everyone gets the latest files for the whole project from source control.
    Open the project.
    Does everything now display correctly?
    If yes, you need to make sure you delete the cpd file before opening the project each day, and also during the day if you know a co-worker has made changes that you need. This file is a database which includes a list of all the files Robohelp knows about. When other people are adding and removing files, this information no longer matches properly. I recommend doing a Get Latest in these situations as well, just to make sure Robohelp can find the correct information.
    If you are still not seeing the correct files repeat the above process, but at step 2, pick the options to Overwrite local files. I can't say where you will see these options - they may be two checkboxes in a dialog box when you select Get Latest - it will depend on your source control application.

  • Topic List Pod - Missing Column Headings

    Greetings,
    I have a small problem with my Topic List Pod. From some
    reason the column headings (e.g., Index, TOC) do not appear, even
    though I have seleced Vieww > Detailed View. The Grey bar
    appears, but no headings.

  • Master Pages / Sync topic list and Project Manager

    Hi,
    Is there an easier way to see if I've applied my Master page to all my topics rather than right-clicking and checking Properties for each topic?  No indication of a Master page shows up in my topic list and there isn't a report I saw to identify this.  What I have in my Master page is code so it would not be apparent by looking at output.
    Also, is there a way to sync the highlighting within RH to the topic I'm working on.  For example, if I'm working in a topic and it's highlighted in my topic list, the same topic isn't highlighted in the Project Manager?

    Hi there
    If you look at the Topic List pod you should be able to see a column labeled Master Page.
    Click image below for larger view.
    If you don't see this column, you might need to scroll the scroll bar to the right. Note also that you may drag the column header to place it next to the Topic name if you like. Also, you may need to right-click the column headers in order to enable the Master Page.

  • Topic list details - window is blank

    Using Robohelp 7 HTML -- I display the Topics List pod and topics display for List View. But, when I select Details View, the window goes blank. It doesn't matter what project folder I select, the window is blank. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Perhaps try closing the project, blowing away the ProjectName.CPD file, then opening the project again?

  • Topic List Tab Gone

    HI,
    I have a developer here who is having a strange technical problem with her Robo install.
    Whenever she tries to open her project, she gets two error messages. One says that topiclist.dll cannot be accessed. This is followed by repository.dll cannot be accessed.
    I can deduce that both files are necessary for Robo to successfully launch a project.
    Her Topic List tab is also gone. The C: drive contains both of these two files in the proper place.
    How is this caused? How is this fixed?

    I believe RoboHelp was with Admin rights.  I have been working, with no problems, on my project in RoboHelp for a couple months now; last night I saved my work, published and logged off RoboHelp and my pc.  This morning when I go to access my project I get the following errors:
    "Could not load 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\RoboHelp 6.0\RoboHTML\TopicList.dll'. Error code 998"     followed by
    "Could not load 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\RoboHelp 6.0\RoboHTML\Repository.dll'."   and I get this one again when I try to close the project.
    The project does open after I click on OK for both of the errors; however, as Joe said my Topic tab is missing and my options to check in or check out are not there.  I can view my topics.    No idea what happened between last night and this morning.

  • Printed doc topics listed in WinXP Recent Documents list

    I recently upgraded to RoboHelp 9 from 7. I generated a printed doc and each topic is listed in the Recent Documents list in Windows XP, as follows:
    The file names all begin with $HtmlDoc_Chapter_... By the way, these files can't be found once you click one of the names. It looks like some temporary files made during generation. The point is, I don't want them in my Recent Documents list. How can I prevent this from happening?

    Am I right in thinking you are generating a Master Document and Sub Documents?
    The problem here is that RoboHelp has to create a number of temporary documents in the process and Word notes any documents created. I doubt that RoboHelp can stop Word doing what it is set up to do. There is no interface option so pPlease follow this link and report it as a bug or feature request, depending on your point of view.

  • Topics list organisation

    Hi,
    I have this problem while importing Word in to the Robo Help Tool. After importing, the topics displayed after getting imported in the Project Set up view, are not displayed in the order of output. They are shuffled, rather get displayed alphabeticaly. However after generating the output in html, the topics get displayed as intended. Do i have to manually move the topics in the project view or is there any setting by which I will be able to control it?
    Plus is there any way we can get to group the related section ( say topics and sub topics) in folder by default or I will need to manually add the same?

    Hi there
    For folders, I'm afraid that you will need to manually create them if that's what you want. No way past that as near as I can tell.
    If you are using RoboHelp 8, Adobe added a new feature that allows you to present the Project Manager pod in any arrangement of topics you want. Basically you may drag them around. I'm thinking it may also list them as they come in. So that may help.

  • Blog topic list on iWeb

    On my iWeb blog summary page, I would like to display a menu of topics that simply lists blog post titles along the side of the page like on blogger or wikispaces. Is this an option on iWeb? It could even be a small-scale duplicate of the archive listing page. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for following up. I settled for the archive link, but I don't think it is user-friendly to not offer the menu..
    I tried adding a widget to my page that displays the titles of my posts by pulling from the RSS feed. Problem is, the RSS feed isn't working correctly and no matter what you click on, you get redirected to my home page. Argh!

  • Help needed finding old MMS topic listing mms emails for dif providers

    Ok, Im usually better at this. I meant to bookmark or at least copy and save the information provided in I believe it was a FAQ! someone had wrote up on sending MMS to different providers from the iPhone.
    It was great, had a listing of all the [email protected] type emails for sending pictures to diff providers and it worked from the iPhone. Wanted to get that info onto the phone, anyone know what Im talking about and can help point me in the right direction?

    Can somebody assist me in understanding how to rename a topic ID in my map.h file?
    An application programmer informs me there are nine topic IDs (shown below) in my project map file which conflict with predefined names of constants/functions from the Visual Studio Libs program and, is requesting I change the names of the topics listed below to resolve topic ID conflict in order to enable F1 call for these topics.

    Hi,
    Simply renaming the TopicID's in the .h file won't work. The TopicID is used in the alias file (projectname.ali) to link a map number with a topic. Also, you can use either TopicID's or map numbers to call the help. (Using TopicID's only works for WebHelp afaik.)
    If you use map numbers to call the help, you can rename the TopicID using the mentioned dialog. No problem.
    If you want to change the ID from the files, you have to change both the .h file as the .ali file. No changes to topics needed.
