Key Active Ingredient- Batch Specific costing

Dear All,
Customer has the following scenario.
They buy Hydrochloric acid at 30% concentration.
They make PO for 100 Kg of 30% concentration.
When they do GRN they found that the 100 Kg is with 28% conc.
Actually the Key active ingredient should be 30 Kg in 100 Kg, but it is only 28 kg in 100 Kg.
As per the price maintained, 1 kg of 30% Hydrochloric acid is 10 Rs. Since it is only 28% it should calculate 9.30 Rs /kg & for the GRN of 100 kg , it should be 93.33 Rs.
I have maintained the Key active ingredient conversion & stock is coming as 28 kg in KAI, but i dont know to do the batch specific proportionate costing & accounting data.
Pls help me.
BR
Subbu.

Hi
This is a very common feature used in PP-PI.. You would do the GR for 100 KG and the batch chars would store the information of 28% (Instead of 30%)
When you do the Goods Issue, system would issue more qty.. i.e. if you want to issue 50 KG, system would issue 50 * 30 / 28
I dont know what else you are looking for... If you are planning to make batch wise prices, it would only complicate the affair
As far as the accounting doc is concerned, it would post @ 93.33 or as per the price strategy agreed with vendor

I am trying to MAP this Process using Batch Specific Unit of Measure functionality in IS-Retail.
Is it Possible to Use the Batch Specific Unit of Measure functionality in IS-Retail System.
In Article Master, I couldnt find any "Classification View" or "Proportion/Product unit" Tab.

  • Activating batch-specific material unit of measure

    Hi all,
my client has a SAP ECC 5.0 system with over 30 plants, which are currently using batch management. For a new plant we have the need to work with the batch-specific material unit of measure to have KG as base UOM and to calculate the quantity of bags regarding the batch specific conversion factor.
Does anybody now which impact will follow on the current batch management and stock in the other plants after activating the batch-specific material unit of measure in the Customizing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hey all,
I found something in standard SAP... You can use a dependency on the level of the batch class and in there it is possible to write some calculation code.
    Thanks for the input,

  • Need Active Ingredient  table field & its calculation from batch chars

    Hi All,
Creating a report where Active Ingredient(AI) table field is needed. Further per batch AI content need to be determined based on AI characteristics in batch & planned value of AI in material master for a material. Please help me in finding out the table & its field for AI uom & value of AI chars in batch & in material master. I checked in table "AUSP" but value of AI is coming as blank in this table.

  • Batch Specific Unit

    Hi
I am working on Batch specific unit of measure.
I want to use mg as Base unit and ML as production unit.
If i use batch specific unit as ML system is not allowing to enter this in in propotion unit tab in material master as it belongs to Dimention.
If i select unit of measure as B sytem is calculating reverse of  my expected result.
    Can anybody help on this..

  • Active Ingredient : Correction posting after MWBQ

    Hello All,
We have active ingredient (purchasing scenario), now following data has been maintained :
    Material master :
      a) Batch Characteristic is linked.
      b) Proportion unit has been maintained : 100 kg = 70 KAI (i.e 70% potency)
      c) Split Valuation actiavted : X
      d) Price control : V (at header level ) but price control would be 'S' for valuation type level.(Price control at material master is S)
      e) Batch management activated.
      f) Inspection type 01 linked in QM view.
      g) MWB1 done to update standard cost 1 KAI = £ 100 (this is equal to £ 70 / kg)
QM: Master Characteristic created and Material linked in the inspection plan.
Now when I raise a Purchase order  for 1 KG and price 60 per KAI and do MIGO following happens :
    1. Batch is created and stock is QM restricted stock for inspection.
    2. Accounting entry posted :
       Stock A/c Dr .. 70 £ (At planned potency 70%)
       GR/IR A/c Cr .. 42 £ (At PO price for planned potency 70 %)
       PPV A/c Cr ...  28 £
Then I do QA32 and put the result at 50% and do the Usage Decision, following happens :
    1. Stock is moved to Unrestricted
    2. Pop up comes up that ' Correct PO History for Inspection lot XXXX using MWBQ'.
This is fine so far, now I do to MWBQ and do the correction, then I see Purchase order and material document posted.
Material document is posted with movement type 141 and 142 , and accounting entry for correction is :
    GR/IR A/c Dr .. 42 £
    PPV A/c Cr ...  42 £
    GR/IR A/c Cr ...30 £
    PPV A/c Dr .... 30 £
Why is stock account not getting corrected  ?
I expected that initial entry done will be reversed completely and new stock entry would be posted. Because if I see material master for this batch ( valuation type ) it shows Total stock = 1 Value = £ 50 and Standard price updated = £ 50.
But with this in GL Stock Account in FI still has £ 70 and not £ 50 ?
Please help me understand what am I missing here .
    Best Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
did you actively search for accounting documents for the material or just look into the follow-on documents of the material document? It might be that the material price change was posted, but the connection to the original document is not given.
Maybe check for all accounting documents and also for a price change document (transaction CKMPCD)
    Best regards,   Udo

  • Batch-Specific Material Units of Measure

    Hi all,
Can anybody guide me on Batch-Specific Material Units of Measure----Product/proportion units???
What are the settings required & how it works??
    Regards,
    Manish

    Hi Manish,
The batch specific UoM is used in the process industry where you need to know a characteristic of a batch which is used in evaluating the batch, like concentration or potency. For example, in a sugar syrup, the concentration of sugar may vary and hence it is required to knoe how much sugar is there in the syrup. So you make sugar concentrate as a characteristic in the batch class and use it in the proportionate UoM. So whenever you fill the value of the sugar concentrate in the batch master, how much sugar is there in the syrup is known.
    1.     Activate the use of batch-specific units of measure
Activate active ingredient management in Customizing using Transaction OMWS. Activate the use of batch-specific units of measure. This allows you to maintain proportion and product units in the material and use them in logistical processes.
    2.     Set up the base and proportion/product unit
In Customizing, the proportion/product unit needs to be created as a unit of measurement. Enter your active ingredient unit of measure under the menu path General Settings  Units of measurement
    3. Create Batch Class and Characteristics
    4. Assign the class to the material master.
Also set up proportion UoM in additional data of material master. Use the required batch char]acteristics.
So whenever you a Goods receipt you may enter the batch characteristics manually. Or if you are using QM, you may have to activate the link between batch characteristics and inspection characteristics.
Check the stock in proportionale UoM in MMBE

  • Batch specific production unit

Proportionate unit/ production unit need to be used for calculating the
Out put volume as per the specific gravity of the Formulations.
    The requirements are as below:
The production out put quantity varies as per the specific gravity of
    the formulation.
THE BATCH SPECIFIC PRODUCTION UNIT IS IN Liters.
The confirmed quantity is in kgs and Gr quantity is in kgs.  Inspection
lot created and while inspection the specific gravity of the formulation
will be Tested and the value is recorded for the Batch.
Based on this value the Batch specific unit needs to be calculated.
Example: The batch for the quantity of 100 kg Confirmed and made Goods
    receipt.
The inspection lot is 100 kg and in result recording specific gravity is
    1.1 gm/ milliliter.
Hence the Batch specific production units (lts) is 100 kg /1.1 = 90 LTS
Kindly suggest how to Map the Scenario.

  • Active Ingredient Management with Logarithmic Scale

    Dear Gurus,
I would like to manage the batch specific concentration of an active ingredient that is measured on a log scale.  This is similar to pH, but the active ingredient I would like to manage is a virus particle.
    Any guidance would be appreciated,
    MediSteve

    Dear MediSteve
    You could use the Characteristics
Characteristics are criteria according to which you can search for batches. These characteristics are defined when creating a class. There are two different types of characteristic:
    User-defined characteristics :
These are characteristics which are not defined as fields in the batch master record.
For example: Active ingredient potency, viscosity, color, weight

  • Active Ingredient Concept in SAP

    Dear All
I searched the forum for "Active Ingredient" concept in SAP but I didn't found anything concrete.
Request is all to please provide me any link or material for details in Active Ingredient.
    Regards

Active Ingredients tracking is very important in Pharma Industry  and needs to be tracked.. For that best practice is to use Split Valuation ..
Split valuation is used in  to track actual active grams for bulk materials per batch. It enables us to track the actual quantity of active ingredient per batch without valuing each batch separately and creating Accounting and Costing views for each batch. Essentially, each batch is now valuated at a standard cost but has an actual active ingredient concentration maintained in the u2018Characteristicsu2019 field in the batch master.
The material is valuated at two levels u2013 plant and valuation type. . Ensure there is no inventory, WM stock, batches, purchase orders or process orders against the material. Choose Valuation type u2018Xu2019 in Accounting 1 tab in the material master. The Price Control becomes u2018Vu2019, so no standard cost has to be maintained. Enter a u2018Moving Average Priceu2019 if there is none populated by conversion team.
In Material Master , accounting1 view.. in last there is a costing critical tab.. maintain active ingredients reported.
Maintain alternative units of measure on the material master by clicking the u2018Additional Datau2019 icon and navigating to the Prop/Prod Unit tab. Maintain the plan values for this active ingredient in the u2018Units of measureu2019 tab.
The u2018Additional Datau2019 screen in the material master will store the conversion factor active ingredient unit of measure for the material in the u2018Units of Measureu2019 tab.
The batch master, MSC3N, is where the actual active ingredient concentration is maintained
Hope it clarifies as much i can explain.. as  i am a CO guy..

    Dear All,
    Good day !!!
We have activated Batch management in our business, whcih was running without BATCH management Active before. Now we have activated the batch management ,Automatic in case of GR creation and by FIFO basis in case of goods movement and SD and PP modules also.
Now every transactions and data are working properly. But we need clarity on the master data upload and inventory upload.
Suppose if we need to carry out the for the same material Batch to be activated or whether we need to go for new material and batch management active , Pleaes clarify on the process and also how we could upload the existing inventory from the existing NON Batch material into BATCH material (Which is created wholly as a new materail with batch)
KIndly provide on the above 2 points which would be helpful for our business.
    Thanks and Regards,

activate batch management to material and using 202 movement get back the material .
as the process is very tedious use the help of badis for updating and cancellation if required

I think there is some confusion.
"Mass Edit Material Costs" program is used to apply new activity rates to item costs. For this, you don't have to insert records in the interface. You have to define/update the new activity rates using screen.
To process records in the cost interface tables, you have to run the "Cost Import Process" program.

I'm usign R/3 4.7 with PS and UN (NPO) payroll module.
    Grants adn Funds are activated.
IT1 and IT27 contains grants, funds, and funds center information.
In order to post specific wage type to specific cost center, we try to use the option in IT15 offered by the Maintian cost assignment function. But in this screen I do not have grant fund and fund center.
As this is required I can not validate the screeen receiving the following eror message :
"Account assgn Fund is active in HR on 01.01.2008 and must therefore contain a value"
It makes because this is a fucntionnal requirement otherwise .
Does anyone know how to add grant, fund and fund center to this specific screen ?
I couldn't find any notes about this.

    Hi
Use CK74N.. You can add the value you want and also the cost ele of your choice.. Save it in CK74N
Now when you run CK11N, the cost you added in CK74N would get added to CK11N's own cost

  • Batch specific unit of measure - Purchase order history correction

I have maintained an alternate proportional unit for a material.  This alternate unit is used as the order price unit in the purchase order.  I have created a batch characteristic which is linked to this proportional unit of measure. I have also created a Master inspection characteristic which is linked to this batch characteristic.
I want to correct the purchase order history using quality management by transaction code MWBQ.  However, when I perform transaction MWBQ, the inventory is reduced to zero and entire amount is posted to price difference account after correction. Hence, my inventory value becomes zero after MWBQ. I cannot maintain the proportional unit at standard price since this is a raw material.  Need a solution on how to post correction in purchase order history without actualy making the inventory zero and with moving average price.

    Thanks for caring!
As for transaction MMBE it all looks fine. So basic definitions must be OK up to that point.
I think the point is to set requirement for the amount of active ingredient.
Do the batch determination for this.
Do the goods issue in physcial quantity which is the base unit of measure.
I did try now with KG in the BOM. I still get  double items in the process order. Now both in KG.
    One line is correclty copied.
The incorrect line which is the same in both cases says 1 KG. which is the correct conversion from  0,01KAI.

  • Batch specific unit of measure in process order

    Hello,
I have a BOM with a component with active ingredient.
Batches are classified and transaction MMBE shown stock correctly in both units.
But when creating the process order I get two items with same item numer in the material list.
One for batch specifiv unit of measure which is fine.
I also get another line in the base unit of measure.
In table RESB both records have movement allowed so they show up in MIGO.
This increases the total requirements for the component.
    What is happening??
