Keynote effect problems

I have an almost new last generation macbook pro with 4 GB of RAM, 2.66 GHZ intel dual core processor, and an Nvidia graphics card with 256 MB of VRAM yet despite this many of the effects in Keynote 09 are not going as fast as they should be, in fact they're just going plain slow when I try to play the slide show as though I'm using a 10 year old computer. I have tried making the effects last longer (and thus animate slower) but that hasn't changed the speed at all either. I have no idea what is going on and none of my other programs are showing any slowdown. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

At what point does it freeze?
After you have burnt them to a DVD or CD?
When you run them from the disk in your computer or run them as files from your Mac.
When they freeze what format are they in? Still Keynote, or have you converted them to .mov or QuickTime?
Are you by any chance turning them into a DVD to run in a DVD player?
Please take the time to explain the problem clearly and legibly.

Fixes for some transform effects problems.
- We were not animating the postLayout properties in some cases where we should have, effectively pinning the object in place. We now animate those properties whenever applyChangesPostLayout is true.
- A copy/paste error meant that we did not animate the scaleZ property in cases where we should have.
- A problem in the transform code means that using a null transform center is not the same as a transform center which uses the transformX/Y/Z properties of the target object. We now force the creation/use of a transform center in all cases to avoid that problem.
QE notes: This breaks about a dozen tests in the transform effects area, but I believe the new results are correct and the tests/bitmaps should be changed.

Keynote 09 (with OS 10.6) rotation effect problem

My Keynote 5.0.3 (iWork 09), with 10.6.2 (or with 10.6.1) does not allow me to use the rotate action effect (in Builds). When I select an image and choose Builds > Action > Rotate, a grey window appears in which one could insert another image. The angle popup does not appear, and neither does the clockwise/counterclockwise popup. I am given a fading effect, not rotation!
Rotation worked perfectly in iWork 08, which I fortunately have not trashed. What is even more surprising is that when I chose the effect for one image in iWork 08, then opened the file in iWork 09, the actual rotation popup menu is shown for that image, but remains impossible for any other object.
Anyone with the same problem?

I have installed Keynote in two computers, my home MacBook and my work iMac. Both have the same problem.
This might have something to do with the Finnish version though - a colleague at a Finnish discussion forum was also unable to find the '08 type Rotate menu. I'll try reinstalling with another language.

Adobe After Effects Problems

I edited a sequence in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 with no problems. After I exported it, I checked the movie in Windows media player to make sure everything was okay. In Windows Media Player, the movie played well with audio and video. After that, I imported it into Adobe After Effects. The Movie is 1280x720 60fps. However, after I did a RAM preview of the clip, there was still no audio. I doubled checked the clip outside of After Effects and it played with audio just fine. Is there something wrong with the way I originally exported it or is it a software error? Also, when I imported the movie into After Effects, it played in Slow-motion after RAM preview instead of playing in regular motion. Can someone please help? Thanks.

I think that you're clicking the wrong button and not, in fact, using RAM preview. The Play button in the Preview panel does not start a RAM preview.
See this page for how to do a RAM preview. Pay special attention to the icons that illustrate what buttons to click.

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Effects Problem - HELP

I use Adobe Premiere Elements 11, and when I use effects the footage ends up speeding up, repeating itself, and just not staying the same as it originally was. Does this have to do with what type of footage it is. I am using screen-captures that I got when using Bandicam. If anyone could help me with this problem, it would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

I use an older file conversion program, DigitalMedia Converter 2.7, but it is NOT freeware. Also, Deskshare, the publisher, has released newer versions.

Non functional shortcut in keynote 3 - problem to loop with QT slides

Hello there,
I'm using the shortcuts of Keynote a lot, and I'm embarrassed by the following strange behaviours :
1) in a slide that contains built-ins effects, none of the forseen shortcuts (P, Delete, Page Up, Left Arrow, Up Arrow, or Shift-Up Arrow) does really go back
to previous slide, all those shortcuts go back through each of the builds before to go back to previous slide. It is quite embarassing, when you want to go straight to the point. is there another shortcut to reall go back to previous slide, without stop ? thanks.
2) when I put a quicktime movie in the last slide of a slideshow that I force to loop, it takes ages for the slide show to go from last page to first page (I.e., to loop) : the quickitime movie seems frozen for 10-20 seconds, then the slideshow restarts, and every goes well... until the last slide, that freezes, and so on...

If you have Qt Pro, you can open the file and turn on a controller, then resave the file.

Keynote 08 - problem exporting to Quicktime (no sound or video clip)

Having just spent a long time making and narrating a training slideshow intended for a screencast using Keynote 08 (4.0.3) I choose to export the show as a quicktime movie with the recording timings and recording narrative soundtrack. A screenshot of my settings is below.
The problems I have are:
1. The recorded narration is not present in the QT Mov file
2. A video animation of an embedded movie (screen capture) displays the first frame but does not play automatically
The show works fine if I play it in Keynote, but this is no good as I want to put it on the web!

Just thought I would add my voice to the chorus... I am having the same problem.
Also note that this error will prevent you from being able to "Send To">"YouTube" as well.
I am seeing the exact same issues reported here by everyone else. Not sure what update screwed this up, but it was working fine less than a month ago (I do a series of 5 keynote presentations each month and it worked for the first one I did on June 7 but has not worked for the last two I tried).
I am also in need of a fast solution for this. I am pretty much dead in the water till I get a solution going.
My flash export also results in out of sync audio. Do I have to dig up powerpoint?
Also, it looks as if Quicktime is having a hard time with the file. Quicktime suddenly becomes very sluggish (IE: tons of delay when you click on menus or on pause when the keynote export is playing). Quicktime is NOT having these problems with video files from other sources.

InDesign Transparency Effects - Problems with Image Quality and File Size

Hello,
We are experiencing new problems exporting InDesign files to PDF.
To summarize, though our largest workflow is to create files for offset printing, we also deliver our work to PDF for mounting on a website so our clients can download directly from the web. Our new problem is Transparency Effects, and creating a PDF that will both have a high quality (or resolution), and be a small file size.
We are working with multiple page documents (24 to 48 pages), and would very much like to work with InDesign Transparency Effects. However, after spending much time testing a variety of PDF types, we are finding there is a radical difference between quality and file size. I was curious if anyone has had these problems, and if there is a simple answer. InDesign is an incredible program that allows us to design on the fly with Transparency Effects, but, if we are going to experience these problems, we will have to eliminate these wonderful tools.
Can you help me or lead me to information online that will help.

Fade Effect problem in IE

hi everyone,
I'm having problems with a fade out/in transition in IE8. The area I am changing has a white background (actually there are a few nested divs that all have a white background), and the fade effect triggers on a click in the navigation area and fades everything into the body background color (dark brown) and back. The effect works fine in firefox and safari. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I want the content that is fading to maintain the white background and not fade to brown and back. you can view the page here to see whats going on.

Photo Booth Effects Problem

Hi, I have a problem with Photo Booth, when I choose the pop art effect it only displays one of the 4 colors and the rest looks yellow, any suggestions to solve this??

Photo Booth Effect Problems

Hi,
Im having problems with the video effects, such as clouds, eiffel tower or dots, with photo booth. Everytime I try to set it up, the background is mixed with the actual picture/person. I think its because of similar colours, but what solutions are there to this problem?

This isn't a bug at all, folks.
What photo booth does is take a picture of your background without you in it. Then it overlays the beach picture (my fav) and, after you move back into the frame, changes only the pixels which are of a different color than your original background.
This is the same way they use blue-screens (or green) in the movie business. With the same problems.
You need to be careful about the lighting and the colors you choose. (Don't wear a white shirt in front of a white wall). Try using a sheet of a really different color. Make sure there are no ripples in the fabric. Ideally, your light source would be in front of you and a couple of feet higher to avoid shadows on your background.
It sounds complicated but once you got it setup right, it works really well!!

Quite urgent Ken Burns effect problem

I am working on a documentary (due tomorrow afternoon). This is a fulll length piece and has hundreds of photographs in it. The trouble is; all the photographs when they where imported automatically got the Ken Burns effect... I want to de-effect them. So I got to Media--Show photo settings and de-select the Ken Burns effect.
One some photographs, it works fine. But on others, I click on Show photo settings and it simply turns the screen to black, even if I select the photograph again.
This is a bit distressing as all the photographs have intense Ken Burns effect which cannot be for the final product. If I should be more detailed about what I am trying to say, please tell me. It actually is pretty urgent that I figure this out.

Have you emptied iMovie's trash? If so, you may experience a 'bug' in iMovie that will not allow you to change the settings of a clip that was imported with the KB effect. That is why you see the black screen. iMovie can no longer access the original photo's clip because it sent it to the trash. This is not a problem so long as you do not empty the trash. But, once emptied, the only way to fix it is to reimport the photo.

Keynote Sync problems with music Playback

Dear Keynote Experts,
after long trying I can´t fix this problem.
I want to synchronize Pictures with 4s duration. This shall run in sync with a music playback which is 120 bpm. So it would be in Sync with the progression of the beats. At least the pictures don´t run smooth in my case during the presentation. I checkes the timing with a watch the and it seems as if the single pictures move in unequal durations. Weird?
I tried an Update of Quicktime and tested the whole thing with a new Keynote document only programmed for this syncing purpose. No success...
Maybe help lies in the intelligent animation tool or something like this which would help, otherwise it should be no great deal, to have the Pages properly changed each 4s.

yeah I do it like this. I record the whole thing with screenflow, as Kenote does a good resolution full screen.
I would like to export certain sections of my full grouped objects Image. I can refit it on a smaller paper size record this cutout full screen with Screenflow in high resolution, so far so good - but:
The problem is, when I use smaller paper sizes, the whole Object gets automatically scaled and the relations of the grouped Object are lost. Is ist possible to keep the absolute values of the objects (1cm stays 1 cm) when I switch to different sizes of the paper.

You were on the right track with EPM. Here's how it works:

Then you set the trigger DIV to display: none !important; and
to remove all
borders.

Actually, since EPM allows page links as well as Panel
triggers, you can do
your whole menu bar in EPM using real triggers and you would
then have all
the benefits of state management for those links. That is,
when you click
the "Menu of Products" link to expand the elevator, the link
would adapt an
open state style class.
