Keywords in header

I have a header that is used as a template for all of the
pages on my website. How do I put in keywords in the header that
are specific for each page on my site if I'm using the same header
for all pages?

This is a fragment of a template page. How is it you are
including it on
your pages? I should think this will create big problems for
you, frankly.

  • Meta, keywords, description Head tags

    Hi all,
    Can someone define the difference between the head tags and how best to use them for improved SEO:
    Meta
    Description
    Keywords
    And is there a difference between description and the title of a page?
    Thanks in advance
    S

    Can someone define the difference between the head tags and how best to use them for improved SEO:
    Meta
    Description
    Keywords
    And is there a difference between description and the title of a page?
    Yes, there is.  <title>unique page name here</title>
    Meta Description = a brief (8 -15 word) sentence about the page and what it contains.  Google uses your page title and meta description in search results pages so this is the very first impression people have of your site.
    Meta Keywords are ignored by search engines.  If adding them to your pages makes you sleep better at night, fine.  But it will have no impact on your ranking.
    What matters most is the content in your <h1>, <h2>, <h3> and <p> tags.

  • Top-level keyword problem

    I have just two hierarchical levels in my keyword list - for example "animal species", which contains lion, tiger, bear,etc. "Bird species", which includes pelican, flamingo, etc.
    The top level words are set not to export, and if I export a dng as tiff, of course they don't carry through to the tiff.
    My problem is I'm re-doing all my keywords, assigning them to the raw, then using exiftools to copy them to the tiff (could just as well be vice-versa, doesn't make any difference). In this case there is no exporting. The tiff were long ago exported and have been finalized. I'm not re-exporting them from raw. The new keywords are just being written into the xmp for both tifand dng. Since the files have not been exported per se, the top-level keywords do show up if I browse the files in other programs that read iptc.
    Any thoughts? I don't want any of these top level keywords to carry through when other programs that read iptc handle the files. They do not show up in the "Keyword Tags" field under the "Keywording" section header, or I would just do a select all and delete them from there. I don't want to remove them from my keyword list though, as I like the help they provide in organizing the keywords.

    The same problem from 2007 - no answer then

  • How to add keywords

    I'm having a problem getting my keywords into my homepage.
    I'm using Dreamweaver MX2004 with my Mac PowerBook G4 and used the
    insert command>HTML>Head Tags>keywords to enter my
    kewords. The codein my file looks like this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
    Transitional//EN"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="Mount Tamborine, Mt.
    Tamborine,ceramics,gallery,art
    gallery,pottery,artists,nature,jewelry">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=iso-8859-1">
    <title>mountain dreams atelier</title>
    but in both Foxfire and Safari, after loading my homepage and
    looking at the source code, I get this:
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META NAME="description" CONTENT="mountain-dreams.net">
    <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="">
    </HEAD>
    <FRAMESET border=0 rows="100%,*" frameborder="no"
    marginleft=0 margintop=0 marginright=0 marginbottom=0>
    <frame src="
    http://www.moon-song.net/mountain-dreams/"
    scrolling=auto frameborder="no" border=0 noresize>
    <frame topmargin="0" marginwidth=0 scrolling=no
    marginheight=0 frameborder="no" border=0 noresize>
    </FRAMESET>
    </HTML>
    I don't understand why the keywords don't appear in the
    source code in Foxfire or Safari . Can anyone help me to get my
    keywords listed properly and also give me some advice about how to
    get my homepage listed in Explorer and other browsers when they
    enter my keywords. Also, I've heard that some browsers limit the
    number of browsers limit the number of allowable keywords. Any
    information about that would be helpful, too.
    thanks very much, Hillel

    > I'm having a problem getting my keywords into my
    homepage.
    Keywords are for the content on the page, not for the keyword
    meta tag,
    which is ignored by the major search engines.
    Also -
    <FRAMESET border=0 rows="100%,*"
    You are looking at the FRAMESET code, not the code on the
    individual frames,
    which is likely where you have added your keywords. If you
    don't understand
    this distinction, then a) you probably shouldn't be using
    frames in the
    first place, and b) you should read up on frames and all the
    reasons why one
    wouldn't want to use them.
    The reason for using or not using frames should be based on
    a) your site's
    needs, and b) your willingness to accept the potential
    problems that frames
    can create for you as developer and maintainer of the site
    and for your
    visitors as casual users of the site.
    I am down on frames because I believe that they create many
    more problems
    than they solve.
    Judging from the posts here, and the kinds of problems that
    are described,
    the kind of person most likely to elect to use frames is also
    the kind of
    person most likely ill-prepared fo solve the ensuing problems
    when they
    arise. If you feel a) that you understand the problems and b)
    that you are
    prepared to handle them when they occur, and c) that you have
    a need to use
    frames, then by all means use them.
    As far as I know, the most comprehensive discussions of
    frames and their
    potential problems can be found on these two links -

  • Non-scripter attempting a metatagging script

    my script is doing everything i want except it is converting all spaces and periods to semicolons in the final metatag and i cannot figure out why.
    It will be VERY obvious that the attached script is nothing but a bunch of snippets clipped together to perform most of what i want...
    I want to run this script at the end as i am completing a project to insert the needed metatags.
    i want the project name
    i want the copyright info
    i want keywords to include all images used in the document
    i want to be able to add keywords.
    to run this script you will need a character style called    KeywordsCStyle

  • Use of Substitution Parameters

    Hi All,
    We require to assign some variables to Substitution Parameters. These variables would change when migrated to new environment.
    But we have found that to change the values to substitution Variables, we have to enter the designer and manually change the values.
    Is there a easier,robust way to do this. For ex:.can it be done using management console?
                                                                        or    can we use a substitution parameter file outside,that can be read by the Job,and assign values to the substitution variable directly?
    Please do let us know the drawbacks and guidelines when using substitution variables.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prateek

    Prateek,
    I am pasting the contents here - normally you access knowledge base articles by logging into the SAP service marketplace with your s-user id (an id you receive when you own SAP software and own a support maintenance contract on that software so you can get to support and download software and other things).

  • Key words

    I have a parent key word that is called "garden". I also have the same keyword as a child of this. How do I promote the child, well, I'm trying to end up with one keyword "garden". Thanks for helping.

    Highlight the Child keyword. Select all the images with it. Drag to the parent keyword. Then delete all in the child keyword (which only removes tha keyword from them) and then while the child keyword is highlighed press the '-' in the Keyword list header.

  • SSRS 2005 - table heading adds a keyword " ID " on one of the column need to remove

    HI All
    I have an column name which is dynamically generated like [02 Mar 08 Mar 2015] , when I add it on report table, it adds suffix :  ID to it showing it like [ ID 02 Mar 08 Mar 2015  ]
    If i want to remove the ID using replace expression it doesnt work for me.
    This is how my column look when i run the sp
    The daterange column changes as shown below with Id suffix and minus "-" is vanished too.
    Kindly help me out on this.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi xXShanXx,
    According to your description, the column name with square brackets and a dash can display correctly when executing the query, but the column name will change in Reporting Services.
    In Reporting Services, the column name must begin with a letter followed by letters, numbers, or the underscore character(_). In your scenario, since the column name start with a square bracket and followed by a dash, it’s an invalid name and it can’t be
    recognized by Reporting Services. By default, the Reporting Services remove all invalid parts, and the column is prefixed with a keyword to indicate it’s a valid name. This is a by design behavior.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Why am I getting a syntax error on the /head line in DW CC?

    I am getting a syntax error in DW CC.  Other threads have indicated this was a bug in CS6 but had been fixed in CC.  That leads me to believe it's my fault, but I can't figure it out.  Can anyone help based on the information I've pasted below?  Thanks!

    Well Jon, the code is very simple... it's generated by DW's form check... and, as i said, it happens with unfailing regularity the minute it's put in to a template generated child.
    This is what the code on the page looks like:
    <head>
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Title Here</title>
    <meta name="Keywords" content="some keywords here" />
    <meta name="Description" content="Description here" />
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function MM_validateForm() { //v4.0
      if (document.getElementById){
        var i,p,q,nm,test,num,min,max,errors='',args=MM_validateForm.arguments;
        for (i=0; i<(args.length-2); i+=3) { test=args[i+2]; val=document.getElementById(args[i]);
          if (val) { nm=val.name; if ((val=val.value)!="") {
            if (test.indexOf('isEmail')!=-1) { p=val.indexOf('@');
              if (p<1 || p==(val.length-1)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain an e-mail address.\n';
            } else if (test!='R') { num = parseFloat(val);
              if (isNaN(val)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number.\n';
              if (test.indexOf('inRange') != -1) { p=test.indexOf(':');
                min=test.substring(8,p); max=test.substring(p+1);
                if (num<min || max<num) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number between '+min+' and '+max+'.\n';
          } } } else if (test.charAt(0) == 'R') errors += '- '+nm+' is required.\n'; }
        } if (errors) alert('The following error(s) occurred:\n'+errors);
        document.MM_returnValue = (errors == '');
    </script>
    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    </head>
    And, whammo: "There is a syntax error on line xx. Code hinting may not work until you fix this error."
    And, the error always highlights the closing </script> line.
    The script itself is fine:
    1. If one puts it into an external js file, there's no problem
    2. If one puts it in the body section, there's no problem
    3. If one puts it in the template, there's no problem
    Also, if one removes the closing </script> tag, the error goes away
    The problem only happens in a child generated by a template and in the location I've illustrated. Apparently, this is a problem a lot of users are facing...

  • I am having trouble with the position of my header image across browsers. white space above it in safari, pc, and crome then all to the right in firefox.

         <p>Sending Otis to Brian for the board and train program was the best decision I ever made.  After being told Otis could not be helped and that he should be put down, I was devastated.  Otis has now been back from Brian's program for a few weeks and is extremely obedient and friendly.  He is the same puppy we brought home a couple years ago, but calmer and without any aggression.  We work on Otis' obedience daily as well as walk him and put him on the treadmill.   Thanks to Brian, our dog is happy-go-lucky and more approachable.  The list goes on and on of how Brian has helped the family, myself, and especially Otis.  If you are having issues with your dog, especially behavior and aggression problems, my advice to you is to trust Brian.  Your dog will be in good hands with a safe, reliable, responsible, dog lover that will treat your dog like his own.<br />

    The issue with that white space is explained by the use of relative positioning of your menu. Remember that relative positioning visually allows you to move an element, but that its "shadow" or "foot print" is retained in the document flow. So it still takes up space where it originally flowed in your content, and this causes the header image to position itself the way it does. Turn off the relative positioning of the menu to see what I mean. A simple solution is to set the #header to relative positioning, and then apply absolute positioning to the menu.
    There are other issues with your code. Much of it can be simplified, and you should really stop using ID selectors from this point on, and predominantly use classes instead. The use of ID selectors ought to be limited as much as you can - they force you to write bloated convoluted code.
    Try to write DryCSS (Don't Repeat Yourself).
    Here is my somewhat cleaned up code. Notice I removed and simplified most of the css selectors. Some have no css properties at all anymore. And be careful that you cannot use re-use the same id selector in your html  code: it will not validate. #program1 must become .program1
    PS as always, please backup your files before applying these changes! Dreamweaver lacks a history/versioning feature!

  • RTF Header Rows Repeat in eBus BI Publisher (5.6.3)

    Hi,
    I have been struggling to get the Header Rows Repeat functionality working when generating RTF output with the eBus integrated BI Publisher - currently eBus 11.5.10.2 with ATG H RUP 7. The "How to Determine the Version of Oracle XML Publisher for Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and Release 12" Note (362496.1) doesn't provide anything more specific than 5.6.3. Based on the "Naming and Versioning" sticky note from Tim, I think this is equivalent to 10.1.3.2.
    According to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e10416/bip_misc_101333.htm, this functionality is not available until BI Publisher 10.1.3.3.3.
    To "Overview of Available Patches for Oracle XML Publisher (embedded in Oracle E-Business Suite)" Note (1138602.1) does not list any stand alone patch which seems to be refer to this functionality.
    Can someone tell me if this Header Rows Repeat in RTF output functionality available with the eBus integrated BI Publisher? Or do I need to log an SR?

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for that - the 7487412 readme doesn't say anything about the RTF header bug fix being included, but the Bugs Resolved by this Patch lists 6270261 (ER: RTF Output to support set Table Header Report, Table Row Keep-Together).
    Patch # 7487412 is only available in R12, but with the specific ER number, I was able to find Note # 861915.1 (I couldn't it find with my keyword search) and this note indicates that 11i patch # 7702372 should resolve the problem for me in 11i (and it's readme explicitly documents 6270261 as being fixed by the patch).
    Thanks again,

  • How do I filter photos using the keyword hierarchy?

    Since Aperture 3.1 came out, I've been taking another look at it and considering switching back from Lightroom. One baby step was to set up a proper keyword hierarchy with Aperture. Trying to use that for sorting photos, I started feeling incredibly frustrated and felt like I must be missing something screamingly obvious.
    Here's my issue. Using the keyword HUD, I can set up a nested, hierarchical keyword list. The HUD helpfully displays a running tally of all photos that keyword is applied to. "Great!" I thought, I've got 46 photos of John Smith, let's take a look at them. So I click on the number. Apparently, while Aperture is happy to show you the number of photos with the keyword, it's not willing to take you to those photos (i.e., create a library filter and show the results) via the Keyword HUD.
    Bringing up the filter HUD seems unhelpful for the opposite reason. While you can search via the keywords there, it doesn't show the keyword hierarchy! Am I missing something? Say I've got keywords for two people, Adam and Zoe, filed under People/Friends/. Using the keyword box in the filter HUD will list one at the beginning and the other at the end of my entire list of keywords. Worse, the filter HUD only seems helpful for keywords if you know which ones you're looking for, which defeats the point of using a hierarchy. If, say, I know there's 3 or 4 people I'm looking for under a particular category, but I can't remember their name of the top of my head, how do I go about finding them using the filter HUD? All I have is the long, uncategorized master list of keywords.
    Again, I feel I must be missing something obvious. Thanks for your help.
    Cheers.

    I agree, clicking on a keyword in the HUD that has a number after it to get those photos seems like a no brainer. Even though I know it doesn't do that I still find myself clicking on it before I catch myself. Need to send feedback to Apple on this, clicking on a keyword should create a filter to and display those images.
    In your example the images of Adam and Zoe should be tagged with the keywords that apply to them. That is they would have the keywords people, friends, male or female, Adam or Zoe, and whatever other keywords you use to describe these images. Then you check as many keywords in the filter that apply and you can remember.
    While the keyword HUD shows the keywords in a hierarchy, keywords applied to an image are one dimensional, linear. Its just a string of words without structure. The hierarchy is just there to make it easier to conceptualize the structure.

  • Lightroom 4.1 Keywording

    I've just noticed that all of my imported images in Lightroom 4 have been tagged with the words 'Aircraft' and 'Transport'.
    When I type either of these into the Lightroom search box it brings up hundreds of images none of which display either of the keywords mentioned.
    When I view these images in the Windows 7 Explorer it shows (under the Tags heading) the tags for both Aircraft and Transport.
    So these tags have been added by some means I'm not sure about (as I didn't do it) and Lightroom doesn't show the tags within the Keywording box but Windows Explorer does show them!
    I'm really confused now.
    Is there a way for me to view the tags (Aircraft and Transport) within Lightroom so I can remove them from the images that shouldn't have them attached?
    And how do you think these tags are being applied when I didn't apply them to the offending images?
    All the images in question were imported into Lightroom directly from my camera memory cards without keywords (tags) being applied; I only do this after the importation.
    Any ideas... ?
    ====================
    PS.
    If I click in the search box for keywords under the Keyword List for Aircraft I get only those images that I genuinly tagged as Aircraft.
    Under the Keywording section if I click on 'Will Export' or 'Keyword and Containing Keywords' the images that have been tagged (and show up in Explorer as such) show the keywords Aircraft and Transport but It doesn't allow me to remove any of the keywords.

    I've just found out what I think the problem might have been.
    I have a Keyword for Transport and under that various other sub-headings.
    Under the Keyword for Transport was a whole list of keywords which I didn't place there.
    I can only assume that when upgrading from LR3 to LR4 something happened to my keywords, a bug (or something).
    I was able to remove the incorrect keywords from under 'Transport' and now everything is back to the way it shold be.

  • Export and Import a Keyword List

    Yesterday I exported the keyword list and then acted on the suggestion from LightroomSecrets site to 'organize' while it is in text format. This went very well using a text editor.
    The IMPORT doesn't overwrite the existing list. It merges INTO the list.
    So now I'm still scrolling up and down collecting the keywords that are stand alone to undo and then put a checkmark beside the subkey in a category. I would have been wiser to have reorganized a few and repeated the export,import <grin>
    If keywording is promoted as such an important feature and a main item for management in Lightroom then, it would seem to me that the 'LIST' itself could have been designed in a more efficient manner...Such as : a right click menu...or a browse and choice to move to...
    I suppose the architects of this list assumed users would have their keywording planned out ahead of time. Never assume <grin> I've only now (V1 to V3.4.1) got my head around the category concept so much reorganization required. Scroll up and down and zoom past the category wanted....not an exercise I can stay with for long periods of time <LOL!>

    Keywords are kept in the main database file and when you create a new library, you create a new database.
    The only way I can think of to what you want is to select a single pic and give it ALL the keywords, then use iPhoto Library Manager to move that pic from the old library to the new one. iplm is the only way to move pics and metadata between libraries while using v6. (hmm, another reason to upgrade.)
    And, as I mentioned in my other post, if you're a "keyword fanatic" then check out Keyword Manager
