Kill process and count the number of threads

Hi,
I have an RMi Server and it is running perfect, my question is, how can I count how many threads of this server are running, "i.e. If I did run it once or twice or ...", and how to get pid of the process, because I want to restart it after closing the running.

I will give you a clue on how to get a process ID
From a Linux system, the command pgrep <process> lists the pid of the process specified. For instance,
[root@iss arthur]# pgrep java
14428
[root@iss arthur]# is what is displayed on my server.
Now, using Runtime.getRuntime().exec() methods, you may run the command and pipe back the results to your app. So that,
if i use the above example,
[root@iss arthur]# kill 14428
[root@iss arthur]# will kill the java process.
Over to you

  • VB 2012 - Help Finding Specific Numbers in a Database Column and Count the Number of Times They Appear.

    Hello,
    I am doing a project that uses MS Access to access data about a baseball team . The MS Access Database provides the names, addresses, and age of the players. All the players are 12, 13, or 14 years old. I need to display the average age for the team on a
    label, which was easy. The problem is that I also have to display the number of players who are 12, 13, and 14 years old and I have no idea how to do that.
    Here is my code so far:
    Public Class frmBaseball
    Private Sub TeamBindingNavigatorSaveItem_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles TeamBindingNavigatorSaveItem.Click
    Me.Validate()
    Me.TeamBindingSource.EndEdit()
    Me.TableAdapterManager.UpdateAll(Me.LittleLeagueDataSet)
    End Sub
    Private Sub frmBaseball_Load(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
    'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'LittleLeagueDataSet.Team' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed.
    Me.TeamTableAdapter.Fill(Me.LittleLeagueDataSet.Team)
    End Sub
    Private Sub btnAges_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles btnAges.Click
    Dim strSql As String = "SELECT * FROM Team"
    Dim strPath As String = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 ;" & "Data Source=e:\LittleLeague.accdb"
    Dim odaTeam As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(strSql, strPath)
    Dim datAge As New DataTable
    Dim intCount As Integer = 0
    Dim intTotalAge As Integer
    Dim decAverageAge As Decimal
    odaTeam.Fill(datAge)
    odaTeam.Dispose()
    For intCount = 0 To datAge.Rows.Count - 1
    intTotalAge += Convert.ToInt32(datAge.Rows(intCount)("Age"))
    decAverageAge = Convert.ToDecimal(intTotalAge / datAge.Rows.Count)
    Next
    lblAverage.Visible = True
    lblAverage.Text = "The average age of the team is " & decAverageAge.ToString("N2")
    lbl12.Text = "The number of 12 year olds is "
    lbl13.Text = "The number of 13 year olds is "
    lbl14.Text = "The number of 14 year olds is "
    lbl12.Visible = True
    lbl13.Visible = True
    lbl14.Visible = True
    End Sub
    End Class
    I think I should use a For..Next loop but I don't know how to identify and match using this database, and then count how many repeated 12, 13, 14 years old there are.
    Any help would be really appreciated.

    Hello,
    Conceptually speaking you would group the data and count. Beings this is school work the demo below is a static example and not suitable for your assignment, its to show a point. Now if you have learned about LINQ and Lambda this logic can apply to your
    question but need to work out using this your data which can be done. If not look at using SQL Grouping.
    Example of SQL grouping and count
    select country, count(country) as count from customers group by country
    Module Module1
    Public Sub GroupingDemo()
    Dim dt As DataTable = SimulateLoadFromDatabase()
    Dim TeamData = dt.AsEnumerable.GroupBy(

    For Each group In TeamData
    Console.WriteLine("Group: {0} count: {1} ", group.Value, group.Info.Count)
    dictData.Add(group.Value.ToString, group.Info.Count.ToString)
    ' The following is not needed but good to show
    For Each item In group.Info

  • How can I count the number of unique cells?

    I have a column in my spreadsheet that looks like this:
    Date
    Items
    3/25
    Item A
    3/27
    Item A
    3/29
    Item A
    3/25
    Item A
    4/25
    Item B
    6/1
    Item B
    7/13
    Item B
    8/9
    Item B
    3/5
    Item C
    1/2
    Item C
    5/15
    Item D
    3/25
    Item D
    What I want is something that will list all the unique items that I have and count the number of times that Item shows up in my spreadsheet.  For example, the results should look like this:
    Item A: 3
    Item B: 4
    Item C: 2
    Item D: 2
    I thought for sure that I can do a chart in numbers and it would count the number of items but no, not so much.

    I apologize. When I pasted the table in Numbers running in French the values of column B were treated as dates.
    I leave the screenshot untouched because the contents of this column changes nothing to the calculations.
    In cell D2 of the main table, the formula is :
    =IF(ISBLANK(C),0,IF(COUNTIF($C$2:$C2,"="&$C2)=1,COUNTIF(C,"="&$C2)+(ROWS(A)-ROW( ))/100000,0))
    Apply Fill Down
    In cell A2 of table aux, the formula is :
    =IFERROR(LARGE(main :: D,ROW()-1),"")
    In cell B2 of table aux, the formula is :
    =IF(A>0,LOOKUP(A2,main :: D,main :: C),"")
    In cell C2 of table aux, the formula is :
    =INT(A)
    Apply Fill Down

  • Count the number of unique values in column

    Hi
    I have a large numbers file (thousands of rows) with data for different dates. I need to calculate the number of unique (distinct) dates are in the spreadsheet.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    bpj,
    Let's say your date is in column B for this example and your first data row is Row 2. In another column you can enter into row 2: =IF(COUNTIF($B$2:B2, B)=1, 1, "") Summing the new column content will yield the number if unique dates.
    As badunit observes, this will result in sluggish document. If the number of possible dates is small compared to the number of rows of data, it would be better to make a table of possible dates and count the number of occurrences of each of those dates in the data, a COUNTIF function on the frequency data for the date range will give you the number of unique dates, possible much more efficiently.

  • How to count the number of deleted rows processed

    Sybase ASE version: 15.7-SP52
    Hi all,
    I have a delete statement that will potentially delete millions of rows
    DELETE from TAB_A where COL_A='Y'
    The delete is long, at some point I'd like to know how many rows were deleted.
    If I do SELECT COUNT(*) from TAB_A where COL_A='Y', the query should be locked because of the exclusive-lock held by the DELETE in progress.
    If this is the case, how can I actually count the number of rows deleted so far?
    Thanks all
    Simon

    Simon
    For  deleting significant number of rows best practice is to delete rows in small batches of known size (e.g. 10 K) inside a while loop.
    This keeps transaction log from filling up as well.
    Also between two iterations of delete you can give some wait to make sure that you do not monopolize the server. Sleep could be for a fixed number of seconds (e.g. 5) or for randomized number say from 1 to whatever makes sense.
    Typically "set rowcount " is used to set up the batch size and "waitfor delay" to sleep between iterations.
    Global variable @@rowcount gives yo actual rows deleted. For the last batch this may be lower than the batch size you set up.

    some nice coding here, I'm still amazed with what some people can do with "connect by". But I agree with some statements here that this can take "time", and to be honest, it's funny to see it working, but if you do not have a computer, just a calendar and some paper, would you go for "counting" so there must be a better solution?
    The best working math in here is done by Aketi Jyuuzou, who writes so good English that I wonder why he still insists that he doesn't ;-)
    Anyhow I "translated" that code to English, and I really like that math. Math is math and data is data.

  • How to count the number of dirty and clean block

    i want to count the number of dirty and clean block.
    because i want to know which datablock is updated.

    I dont think it is possible to count the no. of dirty and clean blocks. But we can understand the implications of intelligent calculation by understanding when the blocks are marked dirty and clean.
    Here are few cases.
    There are four definable circumstances under which datablocks are marked dirty, thereby making them eligible for calculation on the next round using intelligent calc.
    1. Input Data: Any block created from a data load or lock & send is automatically marked dirty when created.
    2. Modified Data: Any block for whom a data cell has been modified is marked dirty and therefore eligible for calculation using intelligent calc on the next calculation round.
    3. Ancestors Of Condition 1 & 2
    4. Restructure The Database: Blocks changes as a result of outline changes potentially become dirty.
    There are three definable circumstances under which Intelligent Calc operates, thereby marking blocks clean.
    1. Calc Dim On All Dimensions: When you execute a calc script which contains a CALC ALL statement or CALC DIM statement whose arguments include all dimensions.
    2. Set ClearUpdateStatus After: SET CLEARUPDATESTATUS AFTER is a calc script command that will engage Intelligent Calc for any calc script regardless of construction.You typically use this command where you cannot meet the conditions in 1 above for a Calc Dim on all dimensions.
    3. Set ClearUpdateStatus Only: SET CLEARUPDATESTATUS ONLY is a calc script command that does not calculate. When included in a calc script, this command only
    marks dirty blocks clean. That's all.

  • The table name or tcode to count the number of Dimensions and Key Figures

    Hi all,
    Do you have an idea about the table name or tcode to count the number of Dimensions and Key Figures of an Infocube WITHOUT installing the cube from Business Content?
    Thanks in adv.
    Ajay

    Hi,
    You can't do that because there's no active table in the system for the Business Content since it hasn't been installed yet...
    One thing you could do is go to the Business Content Tab, select "Infoproviders by InfoArea" on the left side, look for the Cube or DSO you want to check, right click on it and select "Display Description".
    On the window that opens you'll have a list of all InfoObjects and Key Figures. You also have the option to Display it as Start Schema, where you can see the Dimensions, etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Fastest way to count the number of occurences of string in file

    I have an application that will process a number of records in a plain text file, and the processing takes a long time. Therefore, I'd like to first calculate the number of records in the file so that I can display a progress dialog to the user (e.g. " 1234 out of 5678 records processed"). The records are separated by the string "//" followed by a newline, so all I need to do to get the number of records is to count the number of times that '//' occurs in the file. What's the quickest way to do this? On a test file of ~1.5 Gb with ~500 000 records, grep manages under 5 seconds, whereas a naive Java approach:
    BufferedReader bout = new BufferedReader (new FileReader (sourcefile));
                   String ffline = null;
                   int lcnt = 0;
                   int searchCount = 0;
                   while ((ffline = bout.readLine()) != null) {
                        lcnt++;
                        for(int searchIndex=0;searchIndex<ffline.length();) {
                             int index=ffline.indexOf(searchFor,searchIndex);
                             if(index!=-1) {
                                  //System.out.println("Line number " + lcnt);
                                  searchCount++;
                                  searchIndex+=index+searchLength;
                             } else {
                                  break;
                   }takes about 10 times as long:
    martin@martin-laptop:~$ time grep -c '//' Desktop/moresequences.gb
    544064
    real     0m4.449s
    user     0m3.880s
    sys     0m0.544s
    martin@martin-laptop:~$ time java WordCounter Desktop/moresequences.gb
    SearchCount = 544064
    real     0m42.719s
    user     0m40.843s
    sys     0m1.232sI suspect that dealing with the file as a whole, rather than line-by-line, might be quicker, based on previous experience with Perl.

    Reading lines is very slow. If your file has single byte character encoding then use something like the KMP algorithm on an BufferedInputStream to find the byte sequence of "//\n".getBytes(). If the file has a multi-byte encoding then use the KMP algorithm on a BufferedReader to find the chars "//\n".getCharacters() .
    The basis for this can be found in reply #12 of http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=769325&messageID=4386201 .

  • How do I count the number of occurrences of a string within a group of cells?

    Hello all, I'm trying to figure out how to count the number of times a child has completed certain tasks.  Here is a sample of the data (it is highly simplified here, but contains what I hope is needed to answer my question):
    Unnamed Table
    Objective
    John
    Ann
    Alex
    Dave
    Eric
    20a 20b 20c
    x
    20a 20b 20c
    x
    20a 20b 20c
    x
    x
    19b 20a
          x
           x
    20c 21b 22
         x
    What I am trying to do is count the number of times each child completed each objective - but I can't figure out how to go about splicing up the "objectives" fields for counting while still being able to compare them to whether or not the "child" has 'an x in the box' in that particular row.

    If I read your example correctly, John's counts should be 2 for 20a, 1 for 19b, 20b and 20c, and 0 for any other objectives listed.
    Here's an example that will work for your data set, assuming that any objective ma occur only once in each row of column A of the Main table. I've added an a to objective 22, but I think it is unnecessary, provided there is no objective 122, 221, etc.
    This uses a two step process.
    The table AUX extracts the objectives completed by each student, using the checkboxes in Main. Note that it also adds a space at the beginning and end of each string. This provides an extra character before the first objective code and after the last objective code in that row, used by the wildcard specification in the formula in the Summary table.
    Formula:
    Aux::B2: =IF(OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,COLUMN()-1)," "&OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,0)&" ","")
    Fill right to the last column and down to the last row of Aux.
    Summary uses COUNTIF to count the number of occurrences of each of the objectives listed in column A of that table.
    Formula:
    Summary::B2: =COUNTIF(Aux :: B,"=*"&$A2&"*")
    Fill right and down as the previous formula.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Count the number of elements in an Arraylist

    My arraylist has these elements inside it.

    How can I count the number of elements after each tom upto before each jack and same for all words after jack and upto before tom? [for example in the first case there are 3 words after tom and there are 4 words after jack.]
    Thanks

    don't collapse your lists together. They represent separate data entities and should be kept separate. Go check your [other thread|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5416414&tstart=0].

In this spirit, I think that we should give this poor student a break and try to help him as much as possible. Here, try out my program, and perhaps it will give you some ideas for your own:
    public class WordCountingHomework
      public static void main(String[] args) throws InterruptedException
        String input = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Please enter a String");
        // get your String and split the String into words
        // This will allow you to count words easily
        String[] strArray = new String(wordCountByteArray).split(" ");
        int delay = 400;
        for (;;)
          // loop through the array to count the words
          for (String string : strArray)
            System.out.print(string + " ");
            Thread.sleep(delay);
          System.out.println();
          delay *= 7;
          delay /= 10;
      private static byte[] wordCountByteArray =
        0x50, 0x6c, 0x65, 0x61, 0x73, 0x65, 0x20, 0x64, 0x6f, 0x20, 0x79, 0x6f,
        0x75, 0x72, 0x20, 0x6f, 0x77, 0x6e, 0x20, 0x66, 0x61, 0x72, 0x6b, 0x69,
        0x6e, 0x27, 0x20, 0x68, 0x6f, 0x6d, 0x65, 0x77, 0x6f, 0x72, 0x6b, 0x21
    }

  • Count the number of mail views

    Hi All,
    I send an email which has following html code :
    <pre >
    <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" class="blank-region">
    <b> <img width="100" height="100" src="
    https://xyz.com/pls/apex/Test.WCE_KM.download_my_files?p_id=22539227238556772"/>
    </b>
    This is the email text 1 <b> 1</b> times.
    This is the email text 2 <b>0</b> people.
    <div class="clear"/>
    </div>
    </pre>
    The code is inserted into outlook or thunderbird as a mail text .
    I would like to know how many people have opened that email. The idea is count the number of times the image is loaded in the mail box. and in the "download_my_files" procedure I write an insert statement to insert one count each time the image is loaded.
    Since it is inserted as a html text, I am not able to capture the image download hits or how many times people have opened the mail.
    Any idea how to achieve this ?
    Regards,
    Archana

    Thanks AndyH for the reply. I am using "download_my_files" just to record the number of accesses for the files for later processing on the database server.
    The mail body has few images which are stored in the table as a blob type. Those images are uploaded from the file browse button in the apex application.
    I use "download_my_files" to record the number of accesses for the image files. Who views those image files in their mail when they open the mail- download_my_files process should be executed to show the file in the mail and ideally it should enter a hit in my hits table.
    I use the following process to view a file in the browser as well in the mail body . I pass the file id as a parameter
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE download_my_files(p_file in number) AS
    v_mime VARCHAR2(48);
    v_length NUMBER;
    v_file_name VARCHAR2(2000);
    Lob_loc BLOB;
    BEGIN
    SELECT MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT, name,DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(blob_content)
    INTO v_mime,lob_loc,v_file_name,v_length
    FROM oehr_file_subject
    WHERE id = p_file;
    -- set up HTTP header
    -- use an NVL around the mime type and
    -- if it is a null set it to application/octect
    -- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
    owa_util.mime_header( nvl(v_mime,'application/octet'), FALSE );
    -- set the size so the browser knows how much to download
    htp.p('Content-length: ' || v_length);
    -- the filename will be used by the browser if the users does a save as
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'||replace(replace(substr(v_file_name,instr(v_file_name,'/')+1),chr(10),null),chr(13),null)|| '"');
    -- close the headers
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- download the BLOB
    wpg_docload.download_file( Lob_loc );
    INSERT INTO mail_hits(hitcount,viewdate) VALUES (1,SYSDATE);
    end download_my_files;
    But when I add the html code as a text which includes image file links and some text, as I mentioned in my first post-- it is pasted as a content on the mail body. It doesn't contain the link to the file in the apex server.
    Is there any solution to track the hits in this method or You suggest any other method to calculate the mail count who has opened the email which has few images.
    Regards,
    Archana
