My MacBook Pro, running 10.7.3, does not recognize when my iPhone and iPad are on the same network, thus it does not synch. Any ideas?
Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.
System Preferences>Network
Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Photoshop CS4 will not recognize RAW2 photos taken with my new Panasonic Lumix FZ100 camera. This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4. I paid a lot of money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new camera, but it appears that Adobe no longer updates Camera Raw for CS4 or with newer cameras. When I called the Help Desk to find out if there was some kind of patch I could get to make CS4 compatible with my new camera a gentleman in New Delhi informed me that he couldn't even answer my question until I paid $40 since answering questions about CS4 was a "paid service." I hung up in a rage. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?
This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4.
Adobe does indeed not update obsolete versions of Camera Raw for new camera types.
And guess what: It’s the camera producers who seem to like to change their raws – so how about spreading some of your indignation their way?
I paid a lot of money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new camera
The upgrade is cheaper than buying the full version.
Anyway, you could try the free DNG Converter which should be able to handle everything the most recent version of Camera Raw can handle.

My Imac does not recognize a TEAC CDW54E with Mac OS 10.2.8
I have an iMac 333Mhz and a TEAC CDW54E external USB CD Burner. This burner works so good with Mac OS 9.2.1, but when I start my computer using Mac OS 10.2.8. the finder does not activate and recognize the CD burner. This burner needs that the finder activated the CD unit in order to recognize it. The Apple System Profile recognize an extenal USB Mass Storage Unit, but not the TEAC CDW54E CD burner. The Toast 5.2 Lite does not recognize any recorder present. I want to know if somebody have a driver or a Terminal Instruction in order to help the Mac OS 10.2 to recognize this CD burner.
Best regards.
Jose Blanco.I have the same drive (a PC friend gave it to me when they upgraded to an internal drive). Teac does NOT support the Mac. The only way I could get the CDW54E to work was in OS 9 and only with an older version of Toast. I gave up and brought the drive to work where I have to use a PC. It works fine with XP Pro. My suggestion (if it fits into your budget) is buy a $99.00 DVD/CDRW burner and be done with it (I suggest one like this model from OWC: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/optical-drives/). When you get the chance to buy a newer Mac, a drive like this will make the move with you easily. Trying to get this burner to work in OS X will continue to be a lesson in frustration. Good luck. I hope you find a way to prove me wrong. The cheapest alternative is forget about burning disks in OS X and keep on burning them in OS 9.

Why do I keep getting mails from iCloud over and over again? It seems that iCloud does not recognize that the emails were previously downloaded.
Does the iPhone NOT tell iTunes if you've played a track or not?
Yes, but the entire track must be listened to - until the track ends.
A song is not marked as played until the song has completed and the iPod starts playing the next song. The song must be played until the very end, and the same with a podcast. -
SCVMM 2012, Conntect via conosle does not work when logged in with specified credentials
Hi all
I have a problem with the SCVMM 2012 console. When I start the console I select the "Specify credentials" option and then I enter my admin credentials. Afterward the console opens
and everything works except the "Connect via Console" function.
When I try to connect to a VM I get the following message:
Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine for one of the following reasons: Another connection was established to the console of this machine. The virtual machine has been shut down or put into the saved state. The user credentials
provided do not have the necessary privilege to connect (0x0003, 0x0300)
It seems that the Virtual Machine Viewer runs not under the admin credentials which I enter at the beginning and therefore the console cannot connect.
Has someone the same issue ? Is it by design that the console connection does not work with specified credentials or is a sort of a bug or error ?
Thx
J0feBeing new to SCVMM, I've just come across this issue myself, though I came to a different (not necessarily better, but good enough for me) resolution.
I have a somewhat convoluted but not abnormal configuration where the SCVMM server lives in a separate untrusted forest to that which the Hyper-V Server hosts live.
As people have noted in this and other threads, the VirtualMachineViewer.exe process launches in the same security context with which you logged onto your pc. While the VmmAdminUI.exe process also runs in the same security context,
the network logon it issues makes use of the credentials provided at the SCVMM MMC's logon screen, which VirtualMachineViewer.exe does not.
I elected to use Credential Manager to resolve this issue.
In Credential Manager, I created a "Windows Credential" entry where the hostname matched the FQDN of the hostname that appears within SCVMM as the virtual host entry. Using an IP does not match if you've used an FQDN in the SCVMM
registration, and vice versa. If you used an IP for the host in SCVMM, then you need to supply that IP as the hostname in Credential Manager, and likewise if you used a FQDN.
This solution isn't perfect as it requires you to manage numerous Credential Manager entries (one per host), but that still appealed to me far more than one per guest. If I had a larger environment, I'd script the account configuration
given it only needs to happen once per host, rather than on an ongoing basis of once per guest as some of the above approaches would require.
I haven't tested the different combinations to verify the least permissions required. For the time being I've gone with the model of using a non-privileged domain user account (to avoid managing multiple identities and passwords)
which I added to the local Administrators group of each Hyper-V Server host. This stuck me as being a sound enough compromise between rigid security and ease-of-administration (given the per host arrangement in Credential Manager).
With the account correctly specified in Credential Manager, I'm able to move on past the 0x0003 error and successfully use the remote function.
If I was to point out an upside to this, it would be that this approach would allow me to remote Hyper-V servers in untrusted forests (including workgroups), which is something I couldn't do if the VirtualMachineViewer.exe process
did in fact use my SCVMM credentials alone. Ultimately, that's something you have to come to terms with yourself, though.
Cheers,
Lain
Thanks a bunch Lain, this helped! I'd still consider this a bug, however, and not a workable solution for a large number of servers/admins... But for now this does the trick, thanks! -

Auto-Detect Screen Resolution Does Not Work Across Multiple Monitors With Different Resolutions
Hi,
The Acrobat Pro DC (15.007.20033.2203) auto-detect screen resolution feature does not work with multiple monitors at different resolutions. Acrobat looks fine on my hidpi primary laptop display (Razr 14" 2014) but is completely unusable if I drag or extend the application to a standard HD resolution secondary monitor. Dragging Acrobat from my primary desktop display to the secondary display causes the UI elements to become 2x as large as they should be and makes Acrobat unusable.
Is there a way to make Acrobat auto-detect the display that it is currently on?
Thanks!
-DonaldTo prevent it from happing again, you can
1. go to the Mouse preference and turn off the scroll zoom feature.
2. go to the Universal Access preference and disable the zoom features. -

Meaning only field does not work when querying
Hi
I am working with Designer 6i R4.11
In my generated forms I have columns/fields based on "domains/lovs". The domain property "dynamic list" is set to yes and I have all my values in a cg_ref_codes table.
Now when I am doing a query in my form and I use the lov-button of the "domain-field", the query will work fine. When I just type in the value in the field without using the lov, the query will always return all values.
There is no trigger or code generated to fill in the database-column value in query-mode, so form a form builder point of view it makes sense.
I have the impression this used to work years ago. Is there a property I didn't set or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for your help.
KarineSeems to me that you need to set the display width to be wide enough for all possible meanings in the LOV, rather than wide enough for the field itself. But I may have misunderstood the question. or misremembered the answer - it has been a while.

Mar 28, 2013 11:36 AM
Have read a couple of "how to" downloads (iMovie'11:import video), followed the instructions with no success. Am using cable with firewire connector.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Bevo 36
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)Hi - my notes on this
NO CAMERA or A/D-box
Cable
• Are You sure that You are using the FireWire Cable - USB-Cable will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin (or 9-pin) FW one ?
• Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
Camera
• Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
• Toggle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on <-> off some times)
• Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
• Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
• Camera set in Playback mode - NOT Recording mode
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK e.g. recording and playback to TV)
A/D-box
• Is the dip-switches set right ?
• Set to same standard as recorded/editing e.g. NTSC 29.97fps or PAL 25fps
• Try resetting it
Connections
• Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
• FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
External device’s (hard disk’s)
• Should be FireWire as USB/USB2 performs badly and so does Airport or Net-work connected ones too.
• MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - DO NOT WORK for video due to 4Gb barrier.
Mac
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
(Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited. No Camera or A/D-box
• GarageBands fix - Close iMovie, Open GarageBand, Play some notes, Close GB and iMove can now be OK
• Does Your Mac have a FireWire Port
• White MacBooks - don't
• MacBook-Air - don't
if not then a few Mac’s has a PCM-CIA slot and there are FW-Cards that makes a FW-port this way
else - NO SOLUTION
Only option as I get it is either
• Use another Mac to Capture material (to an external USB2 - Mac OS Extended formatted hard disk - or -
• Change to another Camera that can be used with Your Mac (no there are no miniDV tape Cameras that can)
• If Your Mac-Book has a PCM-CIA Card place - then there are FW-port-Cards and then
You can import via this - but I've not seen this on more modern Macs. My PowerBook G4
has one and this FW-Card-port works greatly.
SoftWare
• Delete iMovie pref. file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
• Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
• FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
• Screen Saver - OFF
• Energy Saver - OFF
Using WHAT versions ? .
• Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
• QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
• iMovie’08 (7.1.?), 09 or 11 ?
• iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
Other ways to import Your miniDV tape
• Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
• If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE Mac OS Extended formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)
from LKN 1935.
Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935
from Karsten.
in addition to Bengt's excellent '9 yards of advice' ..
camera set to 'Play' , not rec/computer/etc.?
camera not on battery, but power-line?
did your Mac 'recognize' this camera before...?
a technical check.
connect camera, on, playback, fw-connected...
click on the Blue Apple, upper left of your screen ..
choose 'About . . / More . .
under Firewire.. what do you read . . ?
More
• FileVault - Secure that it’s turned off
• Network storage - DOESN’T WORK
• Where did You store/capture/import Your project ?
External USB hard disk = Bad Choice / FireWire = Good
If so it has to be Mac OS Extended formatted
----> UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange is NOT Working for VIDEO !

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After un-installing Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.
No Camera or bad import
• USB hard disk
• Network storage
• File Vault is on

The problem was the external backup hard drive that is connected, you need to disconnect the external drive before the mac can see the video camera.

Maybe your problems is solved in the meantime, but for all others this might help as I had the same problem, also have the Sony HDR-HC7, but the 7e (Europe, PAL). I found this link today and it works perfectly
//support.sony-europe.com/tutorials/dime/videotransfer/vtransfer.aspx site=odw_en_GB&sec=DVH&m=HDR-HC7E
What I exactly did.- put camera in play mode - open guide - choose connection guide - choose comp./printer (where to transfer movie to) - select connection.- i-link (on my camera) but equal to firewire - OK - choose HDV - choose NO for conversion of i.link.
Settings are shown then (VCR HDV/DV.- HDV and i.link-conv..- OFF), press OK, OK, END.
Switch camera off. Connect firewire cable to camera & Mac. Switch camera on, in play/edit mode.
Open i-movie, choose import from camera. On screen below the camera connection is shown.- DV (HDV). Now you can import, automatically or manually.
This worked perfectly for me. Took me 2 days to find out. Could not find any clear thread explaining what I had to do on the camera and the manual was not clear either.

My computer does not recognize when i connect my ipod
My son't friend gave him a used iPod touch and when I plug it into the computer i get a message that the usb device is not recognized. Does this mean the iPod is messed up or is there a disc that needs to be installed? Also when I turn on the iPod it shows connect to iTunes and a lock symbol. The screen doesn't change or ask for a password. Any help will be appreciated.

Flash does not "recognize" when I click
Hi,
Again a strange problem which occured probably since a few months already. flashplugin installs fine in Firefox, but often (very often), the flash app doesn't register clicks as a hyperlink. So for instance in a flash menu on a website I cannot access the individual pages because, when I click on the menu item, nothing happens. This also occurs on many video-sites (however not Youtube), so that I cannot press "play" or "pause". Sometimes I can click many times and really fast, and then occasionally the click is registered and the video starts playing (or a new page appears), but that only happens rarely.
I just reinstalled flashplugin and mozilla, but it doesn't make a difference.
Maybe I should remove some configs in order to fix it? But I don't really want to remove the whole .mozilla folder...iosonofabio wrote:
Hi!
I have the same problem. The workaround does work indeed, but this is not the final solution!
This was happening to me a couple of weeks ago, but disappeared in the last update. I have no idea what's causing it. -
when i insert an external harddrive through the usb port, my mac doesnot recognise that its even there but when a flash disk is inserted, it recognises it perfectly.
why does that happen?Michael is on the right track. Some external hard drives lacking their own power supply simply cannot get enough power from a single USB port. It is most noticeable in the "name brand" drive that the office supply and computer superstores put on sale every other week. Their chipsets seem to be better optimized for Windows than Macs.
Flash drives work because the don't have a power-hugry motor that must turn.
There are two easy and inexpensive cures that allow you to keep your current drive:
get a "Y-cable" that let you connect one drive to two of the computers UWB ports. Example:1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
get a self-powered USB hub. It has a separate power supply that boosts what goes to the drive. Example: Macally TriHub - 4 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub for Mac & PC
If you need the computer and drive to work together in an environment lacking a power source for the hub, and the y-cable isn't an option because you have too few available USB ports, then your only option is to replace the current drive with one better optimized for Macs, like these:
http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/on-the-go
This particular one has the option of running on power from the computer's USB ports or, with an optional power supply, wall power. A good compromise for both remote and desktop use. -
IPhoto does not recognize when I ask it to print
I have iPhoto 6.06 and was printing photos fine. Then suddenly the program stopped recognizing when I clicked on print. Nothing happens...the program just sits. Any ideas?
Lori,
The first step to try when an application misbehaves is to trash its preference file. Close iPhoto. In the Finder, navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move that file to the Trash. Launch iPhoto and see if it responds. You'll have to reset the preferences back to your liking, as well.
