So I have tried everything but it still restarts or goes to desktop when playing 3d games, I tried increasing AGP voltage to 1.8 but system became more unstable.
Tried my old Geforce 2 GTS 64mb card and it ran fine with no crashes, Its gotta be the GF4 cards memory or something?!?!?!?
Please help its been a month now!

Maybe you got a defective GeForce.
Similar crashes would happen to me when I had my RAM tweaked. I was messing around with cas latencies, and I came to a setting that I thought was stable, but it would restart randomly in games. Make sure your RAM is configured by speed, and everything else is on auto. Actually try failsafe defaults. Then just put your FSB on 133 so the processor runs at the appropriate speed. Then see if it crashes.
Windows 98 seems a bit old for that system. I don't think that would make a difference, but you never know. I am running Win2K Pro, and haven't had problems.
Did you install the VIA drivers? Update those, your bios, and get the latest Nvidia drivers off their website. Also update Windows. Mine was giving me STOP errors until I got service pack 3.

My problem is - that the HD is new, formatted - when I make the Pioneer the 1st boot device, winXP starts to install - however after it puts the initial set of files onto the HD - it has to restart - and when it does I get this msg:
"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the windows documentation about hardware......."
I initially tried it with a 120GB Maxtor drive and got the same msg. Nothing is wrong with either drive - because they are both brand new, and properly formatted.
I am not using the RAID option I just want to have two HD's connected to IDE1 as master/slave.
When I go into the BIOS - in the boot options my CD drives and HD shows in the correct order. So if it can see my HD in the BIOS - why can't I boot up and complete the installation?
Do I have to disable something in the BIOS - there is a RIAD controller check just after the BIOS splash screen and then it goes onto say that the no drivers were found - so then it carries on with all the other checks and then stops with the above error message.
Somebody please tell me how I can get it to locate my HD and complete the installation of the OS?

sorry i guess i wasn't that clear - my optical drives are on IDE2 - IDE1 only has my Seagate HD - only when this is up and running will i add the maxtor as a slave to IDE1
so still looking for that solution

Problem on my Nvidia Geforce 4TI 4800 SE

I recently posted here [MSI Forum] about how I messed up my BIOS and I have just recently bought a new motherboard. My original motherboard was a:

Now, I just bought a:
865PE Neo2-P [platinum Edition]
I have:
Intel Pentium IV 2.4
1 gig of RAM
160gig Wester Digital HD
I took out my hardware from my old Mobo and installed it into my new one. Turned it on, and it booted up and ran fine. I had to reinstall sound, ethernet, and USB drivers but other than that, no probs. However, when I started to run Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour or Call of Duty 2, my monitor starts to flick on and off every once and a while. First, it happens rarely then starts at much faster rate and finally grows into an unbearable state where everytime I move my mouse in the game, it flickers off. This doesn't happen when I'm on the Windows Desktop but on the past two games its been happening. I tried installing the newest Nvidia drivers but to no avail. Thanks for help and please respond back quick.

I tried the newest ones and they didn't work. I'm currently downloading 41.09 drivers. For the Intel INF, I checked out the ones for my chipset however there are many and I am somewhat perplexed which ones are the right ones

KT4 Ultra N/B Fan - prob w/heatsink clips

?( I'm trying to install a North Bridge fan on my new KT4 Ultra. Can't find any physical installation instructions in the FAQs or Tech Support.
How do I remove the existing spring clips on the North Bridge heatsink? My N/B fan kit has thermal phase change pads and fan with 3-pin power connector.
I don't want to force the spring clips or stress the mobo. I need to re-use the existing spring clips to mount the N/B fan. Should I just pull upward on the clips or try to push them up from the bottom of the mobo? -- Or is there some "magic grip"???
Sometimes working inside PCs makes me feel uncoordinated . Despite years of experience, there's always a new "gotcha". TIA for your suggestions.

Mce2005 rollup 2 and geforce on mega180 problems

Hey all
long time no see hu? wassup Stu my man ?
well I have a problem, I have my mega180 connected to my TV sony (100hz) with the integrated geforce
I updated my mce2005 for the rollup 2.
the problem is, under windows no prob my screen is perfect, but now when I switch to mce, it changes the resolution automatically.
so my videos are cut on the l/r borders :(
my drivers are .72 mce, .79 are specific for rollup 2 but the geforce4 is not now in the compatible list !!! grrrrr I can't install them :(
any ideas ?

i haven't had chance to try any myself, but i notice that the Geforce 4 is still listed in the newer forceware driver versions, so maybe you could try them
you're right! i tried to install the 77.79 MCE drivers on my MCE system (as listed in my sig, it uses the same chipset as the Mega 180) and it said it couldn't find any compatible hardware

Amaya 8.3-1 won't start, still. :)

On trying to run amaya from xfce terminal, I get the following error:

Then I'm just left at back at the prompt.
I'm running Arch Linux with the default 2.6.3 kernel in xfce4. P4 2400, 1 Gig RAM, Geforce 5200.

I still can't get the package to work, and now this problem has had it's severity reduced to "very low" without so much as a comment as to why.
I don't really think that's the way it should be.

Geforce fx and 6 supported by other OS?

If you read the compatiblity section of the FX product overviews, you will find that the supported operating system is windows 2000/xp. This is also the same with geforce 6 overview. But if you go to the drivers section, Geforce FX is supported by windows ME/9x/2000/xp and Geforce 6 is only supported by windows 2000/xp.
I am currently thinking about buying a Geforce FX or 6, but i am not very sure if Windows ME is supported ( don't want to use windows xp/2000 because i think it is infficient, buggy AND virus prone ). I would appreciate it if someone would inform me as to whether it is compatible with windows ME/9x. I am particularly interested in the Geforce 6 series, which seems to have NO compatiblity, but i am quite sure people who have it are using windows XP/2000 and have the best computers around town, good enough to forget about efficiency. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would provide me this bit of information.
PS. MSI seems to be working with Microsoft to get people to buy newer, more expensive, more inefficient, buggier and more virus prone operating systems with bogus security features, backdoors and strange file systems (NTFS is slower). Therfore causing common computer users to think they're computer is too lousy and buy new ones without knowing that microsoft makes everything as inefficient as possible.

So it seems windows 9x is being trashed maybe because of the 5 year support time, i wonder if they would actually make another fat32 OS (intel is using 32-bit systems).
I feel that fat 32 OS are better because NT and fat 32 were developed side by side. Fat32 systems were designed to be personal computers, while NTFS systems were designed to be server systems. Server systems, unlike personal computers, are designed to run in a special enviroment where input and output is controled where there is little human input. This was until people could afford to have "server systems", which does not have the regular tempreture control and are sometimes used as a PC for playing games.
So is windows ME still supported? I do hope so. If not would someone tell me which OS is better, 2000 or XP?
I am currently using an extremely outdated K6-2 system. Oh by the way, i count boot up time as system efficiency. My windows ME running on a 850Mhz has a bootup time of 28 secs(settings are tweaked), which would be much faster than most XP and 2000 systems running on a 2.4ghz computer. The windows 9x memory use is also significantly smaller than that of windows XP, seems to be about 20%. This is calculated just after bootup on a 2 different newly formated computers with these OS installed.
Thx anyway for telling me that the Nvidia Geforce 6 is still beta, without drivers and that MSI only made the drivers for Windows 2000/xp because it is more popular.

Integration Probs in Jdev 11g with Struts. Please Help

I am trying to make a trial application using Struts 10.3 in Jdev 11g.
I created the web application using Jdev wizard But didn't select Struts as Technology. Then I downloaded the Struts Jar files and copied them to the lib directory under WEB-INF directory in my sample applicatio.
But When I am trying to importorg.apache.struts.action.ActionForm and extend ActionForm in my Bean I getting below error:
Error(2,32): package org.apache.struts.action does not exist
Error(3,36): cannot find symbol
My Bean is simple as below:

Then I thought that compiler might not be able to integrate the copied jars. So I went Applications->Defalut Project Properties and include the lib directory of my application .

Big problem with KT4V(MS-6712)

ok, i ordered two of these motherboards, for me and one for my friend, mine works fine, but his fails to boot properly, at first he was having problems booting up the computer at all, with an amd 2100+, and it wouldnt boot, he eventually found that when the graphics card was removed it booted, ok so the boards boots, what about graphics!, ive tried it with a geforce 2 ti and a geforce 4 4800 se, it boots, but the moniter is just left unstarted as if on "idle" there is no display on the moniter but the computer boots, my board works fine with these cards, any ideas what it could be, ??? or just a case of faulty motherboard?
any help much appreciated

well, i put the d - bracket in, and all four leds remained as red, which by the manual means
"System Power On"

oh , i just realised i forgot to put any RAM in when i just tested it, damn, will it still have gave no VGA output if no ram was in??? i also didnt plug in the speaker, just base - power switch and video card, so i wouldnt have heard any audial warnings, ok well i guess im gonna strip the computer out AGAIN :O and change the mother board AGAIN :O , urgh, ok well, if anyone had any idea what it would be, as i have tried it WITH RAM in the other day, but without the D-Bracket™2

Problems with Ti4600 TD8X

Hey all,
I'm having problems with my new card. I just put together my new rig and
installed my card with the 45.xx drivers because I heard there were problems with the newer drivers. Anyway, I can do regular everyday computer functions flawlessly and I can watch videos perfectly but whenever I try playing a graphics intensive game my system freezes up completely out of no where. It will be running great at nice framerates then all of the sudden completely lock up and I have to restart my PC. At first it was happening every half hour or so but now I can't play the game for more then a few seconds without it freezing. The only game I really play is Dark Age of Camelot ToA. I checked my IRQs and it does appear that my card is sharing IRQ 16 with my USB. Here is my full IRQ listing:

It looks like my Audigy card is sharing too. I know this is the cause of a lot of problems and could be the cause of mine as well. How do I go about changing the IRQs so they don't share? My system specs are:
Intel P4 2.8Ghz 800FSB

1gig 400Mhz DDR ram
Western Digital 80gig 7200rpm 8MB cache HD

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this problem. There were times when I would reinstall older drivers and I could play the game fine for a few days then it would do the same thing. Then I would change back to the 45.xx driver and it would work fine for a few days. Now that doesn't work anymore and it freezes up after 10secs of gameplay. Please help!!!

Ok I'm using the 45.23 driver and am using the same RivaTuner that you are. I was able to click on the chipset compatibility like you said. But when I tried to turn off the sideband addressing I couldn't. It was grey and I couldn't click it. I was however able to switch the fastwrite to off.
The NVStrap Driver is found at Main->Target Adapter->Low-Level system settings->NVStrap Driver
Again I am using the 45.23 driver. Could that be the cause of me not being able to switch the sideband addressing off? If it is the cause then where can I download 45.33? I tried at the Nvidia website but they only have the international version and for some reason it won't install on my PC. I just did a fresh wipe and install of my hard drive and directly installed my chipset drivers and the the 45.23 video driver and have done all of the above with RivaTuner but haven't been able to test it yet. I will post my progress as I do it. Oh and I also completely took out my SBA and am using the onboard sound to see if that makes a difference.
Again I still don't know what specs on the PS you want or even where to find them. I'll take a stab and just tell you what my voltage monitor says: 11.855V, 5.107V, 3.216V, 1.6Vcore. I don't know if that's what you're looking for but there it is

just help in getting the hole story 6 months ago got a msi neo2 install all my old components core 2 duo 4 gig ram form a diffrent board works fine but never used it playing games just used for the net and email shoping seamed to work fine but
tryed playing a game 2 months later command and conquer 3 pc was some times freeze or graphics artefacts on screen assumed vga card faulty got another graphics card geforce 8600gts installed still the same in the last month got round to playing with the pc again and installed new g7 780 watt power supply and ati hd 4870 graphics card
now i can use 3d mark some times it will go through once or just freeze or 3d mark stops the test
temps on the board (from msi dual core center temps cpu 33oc system 47oc)
memory voltage 2.1
any one know the settings for the ram

Make sure that the memory timings are not set to 4-4-4-x but that they are set to the defaults values (5-5-5-x). Also ensure, that the memory clock speed is not set to anything higher than 400 MHz (=DDR2-800). The voltage at these settings should not need to exceed 1.95V. So please lower it accordingly. In case the freezes still occure, please run memtest86+ to check your memory for errors.

That could be configuration problem. Download all configurations (sms, mms & packet data) from your provider, if the wizard fails to configure it properly.

Sounds very odd - maybe ask your provider to guide you through a check process.If you go to messaging and then options then settings maybe this may throw some light if you post up the entries.

Which is better for 3D rendering

What applications are you planning to work with? The Quadro K4000 is definitely not faster with rendering in general with GPU acceleration. It's actually not even close. The only time Quadro cards have any render advantage is when the Open GL plugins are utilized by an application. That is why the applications used can decide if a Quadro is better suited but that is when the specs are close with the cards. When they are vastly different such as this case then the Geforce card is still the better option.
