L00 and L01

Hi,
When we creating universe on BW we get the class it is level 00 and level 01
what it is exactly... can any one tell me clearly about this.......
I am still not clear about the difference between L00 and L01 objects. can u please explain once again with example
Ravi

Hey Ravi,
Intg kit for SAP (BI - OLAP cube) will map all your:
Characteristics - Dimension objects(BO)
Attributes - Detail(BO)
KeyFigures/CKF/RKF - Measure objects (BO)
The mapping by default give you L00 & L01 objects for all Dimension & Detail objects and Value,Name to measure objects.
L00 - Will carry Hierarchy definitions & Descriptions.
L01 - Will carry the LOV's(data), in few cases we should opt for Detail objects like Key, Name etc...,
All reporting will be done using L01
From BO XI 4.0 L00 added with additionla functionality( I have to check it out)
Hope it helps you.
Gracias...!!

  • Difference between Dimension Objects L00 and L01

    Dear SDNers,
While I was creating a universe data source as SAP BW Cube(OLAP) in the business layer of the universe Designer creates a class containing the characteristic as two dimension objects: Level 00 and Level 01. Ex: Material is Class-->Material Number is Sub Class->L00 material number,L01 Material Number as dimension objects and L00 Material Number Key,L01 Material Number Key as Detail object.
Please tell me What is the difference between L00 and L01 ? I have read the help but I could nt get it.

    Hi swathi,
    From an OLAP point of view a characteristic is like a dimension, that means that it contains all the members (level L01) and the All member that aggregates the characteristic members (level L00);
These metadata are provied by SAP BW when using OLAP drivers.
For a characteristic, the level L00 is not necessary unless you want to use the All member.
On the other hand, the level L00 is significant for hierarchies, hierarchy varaibles and structures because it contains members.
We provide an option for the universe generation and the universe update that allows to generate or not the level L00.
This option is available since BOE XI3.1 SP2.
In SP3, we improved the L00 generataion to only impacts the characteristics and not hierarchies and structures.
So the recommendation for characteristics is to not use L00.
    All the best

  • L00 and L01 in BW Query based Universe for Characteristics

    Hi All,
While creating a universe based upon an SAP BW query, the BW characteristics seem to be doubled as dimensions, with one group markeded L00 and the other as L01.
    Why are they doubled?
Is one "better" than the other?
    For what purpose?
They key value in L00 returns "all" and L01 returms the key, but all attributes seem to be the same.
    Thanks for your help,

  • Remove prefix L01 from olap universe

    HI Experts
I need to remove L01 or prefix from the object name in olap universe ... i found tools- options in that there is replace preifx l00, l01 but i am nable to use it properly can some one help
Example : if object is L01 business partner it should appear Business partner only it should not have L01
    regards

You can find some handy tool Based on VBA to mass update the texts of your universe and replace the L00 and L01 prefixes. As far as i could find out in XI 3.1 currently is the only way, unless you want to do it manually one by one. Have a look at the links below. I can confirm that it works.

  • Olap Universe Based on BEx Query - Cascading Prompt

I need to get two prompts: 1) Division 2) Group. Division has to be selected first and then Group. I understand I have to create cascading prompt. In the universe, in default hierarchy, group stands before before division. I have created a custon hierarchy like: Division, Group. I used Tools -> List of Values ->Create cascading list of values and then selected the right dimensions and then clicked on Generate LOVs. Then I have exported it to the repository. But I cannot see any reflection at the report level. So, some questions came in my mind:
    1) Where can I check in the universe whether my cascading prompt has been created or not ?
    2) I am using L01 Dimension. But underneath, there are two dimensions called LovDivision and LoVDivisionBase which are in Italic. I believe integration kit creates this. It is the same as Group. So, my question is: Am I selecting the right dimesnsions ? Or, should I select those in Italic.
    3) Actually, these two prompts (variables) [along with others] are already created in BEx which I can see in my report. My plan is, if my cascading prompts work, I will tell the BW developer to remove those two. Do you think that these existing prompts are creating any problem.
I would really appreciate your response.

    Hi
    1) Where can I check in the universe whether my cascading prompt has been created or not ?
Have you entered the cascading object in the  webi query condition. At the run time  it will generate  hierarchy in the tree structure.
    2) I am using L01 Dimension. But underneath, there are two dimensions called LovDivision and LoVDivisionBase which are in Italic. I believe integration kit creates this. It is the same as Group. So, my question is: Am I selecting the right dimensions ? Or, should I select those in Italic.
correct you are using right objects L01.By mdx driver it will create by default L00 and L01 objects.neglect the Lo00 objects. You can  hide them in the universe or go to refresh structure and their is option to replace L00 definition with some other definition.
    3) Actually, these two prompts (variables) along with others are already created in BEx which I can see in my report. My plan is, if my cascading prompts work, I will tell the BW developer to remove those two. Do you think that these existing prompts are creating any problem.
By default  when you are creating universe based on the mdx drivers it will convert Bex query filters in the universe condition as mandatory filter  and applied on the full universe.
You can go to the universe condition and open the condition and unchecked the option  from their and after that these will not prompt in the webi query.

  • Explorer on BW Only Possible?

I have been asked to investigate if Business Object Explorer is supported on BW 7.3 and 7.4 and or there is a work around for BI 4.0 SP7 and or BI 4.1 SP3?  I have read the admin guide and it mentions that OLAP data sources are not supported.
When I recently spoke with a person from SAP, they said that they thought Explorer 4.0 was supported for BW.
I tried to clarify that we do not have BWA or Hana, just BW.  I have read where it might be possible to use Explorer on a BW DSO with a universe, but this is not very useful to us, unless we were to create DSOs out of calculated results from cube.
Can anyone clarify this?  Our CIO and CFO like the presentations they have seen on Explorer and do not understand why we cannot use it with SAP BW.
    Lee Lewis

    Lewis,
I have the same issues recently, and with company officials at the Sapphire conference, the SAP sales people are just lending to the confusion because they don't understand the technicals or support that is identified.
The platform compatiblity list for support, specifically states that OLAP universe are not supported.  BW and HANA are supported but BW is only supported through HANA or BWA.
Now I am an Admin/Engineer, not a developer or data architect; have been for 15+ years dating back to when this was SI 6.5 (Seagate Info) and Crystal Reports 6.5.  I have migrated and built systems through Crystal Enterprise to BusinessObjects XI and now BI 4.1.
I have tested on 4.1SP3; and yes, you can build a universe (unv or unx) on BW queries, but that is the definition of an OLAP universe, even though it is a relational connection.
I find that the BEX Queries the way most are written for BEX Reports are inadequate in design for exploration of the data.  Heirarchies don't work, and all you will get is the L00 and L01 dimensions, NO DETAIL OBJECTS. from the universe.
Again OLAP Universes are not supported for Explorer.  Test this by trying to convert a unv on BEX to a UNX through the IDT, and it will tell you it doesn't support conversion of OLAP Universes and to use BICs.  You must rebuild it with SAP Jco connection to the query, but then why rebuild if the design was to go to BICs?  The reason for that would be customized universes, that lay on top of an injected BEX statement.  Some places do that; requires more maintenance during refreshing the unvierses, but in those necessary cases that BEX/MDX will not let you do what you need in the query, you are only left with the universe or analysis document (RPT, WID, etc) to manipulate the data the way that is required for the task at hand.
There is documentation out there of using excel data from BW to drive the InfoSpace, and Exploration View set that you schedule for refresh.  This turns out to be a Rube Goldberg design approach to the issue, as you need to perform multiple steps for one InfoSpace/Exploration View.
    1. Design and schedule the WebI or Crystal output to Excel.
    2. Then use that excel for base of the Information Space
    3. Then through CMC capture the actual location of the file in the FRS, used for InfoSpace,
    4. Schedule the webi to export the results to that new location only over-writing itself.
    5. Set the recurring schedule in both the infospace for indexing and the webI.
Voila! You have the most cumbersome design of getting supported BW data into Explorer without HANA, BWA, or Data Services pipiing into a datamart or other flattened RDBMS style source to get SAP to support it via their documentation.
The Biggest ERROR made by companies and Executive is thinking that SBOP is SAP.  SAP Owns it, but BusinessObjects remains BusinessObjects.  We provide Business Intelligence Solutions for everything the company can provide access to in the way of data, not just SAP, and not exclusively SAP.  BusinessObjects was originally designed for Relational Databases, OLAP was added for Voyager/Pioneer (now Analysis for OLAP).  The design driving force behind everything SAP is now HANA.
I have requests to look at InfiniteInsight, Predictive Analysis, Lumira, and other applications that are SAP and not SBOP, but like SBOP are acquired assests and not true SAP NW Applications.  90% of them will not work directly with BW like Crystal and WebI does for reports without going through another interface, layer, and/or appliance.

  • " Question in Web-Intelligence "

    Hai Friend's,
    (1)  when I developed a universe,I got all the Object's from BI to Bo. The Object's are L00 and L01. What is the Difference between L00 and L01 .Why we will drag only L01 Object's
    (2)  What is an OLAP Cache and what is the need of OLAP Cache ?

From the "Using SAP BW in Universe Designer" guide:
When no hierarchy is defined on the characteristic in the BW Query or InfoCube, Designer creates a class containing the characteristic as two dimension objects: Level 00 and Level 01. The Level 00 dimension represents the aggregation of the characteristic when all members are selected (the member returned from BW is All members). The Level 01 dimension contains all members for the characteristic as a flat list of values.

  • Create Information Space (BO Explorer) on SAP BW Query

    Hi experts,
I try the following, but it doesn't work.
I build a universe on a SAP BW query. Then I export the universe to access with BO Explorer and create an information space. The information space exist of two characters and one keyfigure. When I start my query in BEx Analyzer I get some hundreds of results. But when I explore the information space in BO Explorer I get only one result, like I get one result in transaction list cube without selecting a character. It aggregates the whole datasets into one.
But what is the error, because I'd like to explorer through the data in information space? Is there a special way to design the universe or to set up the information space?
    Thanks in advance.
    Greets Nico

    Hey,
here it is. I proudly presents the solution.
Just use the right object in the OLAP universe. The universe designer creates the object L00 and L01 for each character. The right way is to use the L01 object. Here you have the possibility to the select the values. Otherwise, if you use L00 object you only have the aggregation of the character.
I read it once in the manuals but didn't checked it.

  • Regarding Hierarchy in Webi

Hi I have a concern , how to show hierarchy in Webi. My Object has 10 Levels , so i have L00 - L10 Objects.
my want to view hierarchies lIke - if user click on L00 then in the next column i have L01 , Means Dynamic Column Genration , Once i click on L02 it must show L03 in the Next Column ....
Kind of a look and feel of Bex Itself. Any Suggestion how to achieve this.
               L00
                     |_
                        L01
                              |_
                                  L02
I have tried hierarchy fold and unfold option , but its not much user friendly , as we need to fetch all the levels in a report , becasue of which the width of the report become very large.
Drill option will drill the level in same column , i want the next level to be in next column.
Can anyone plz suggest me more realstic solution from the implementation prospect. Or any other way to represent the hierarchy in webi which is much user friendly and you have implemented for Client and he is Happy
    Thanks

    Hi,
the Fold / Unfold is the closest to what you looking for. Keep in mind that in case hierarchical reporting is a strong requirement you might want to use BEx Analyzer or Pioneer when it available.

  • Problem with Dates in the Web Intelligence

    Hello Everyone,
I am facing a problem with the Web Intelligence Report, in the universe there is a Date field (L01 Date and L01 Date Key). In the report Web Intelligence when i use L01 Date Key it works fine (like 10/07/2010), but when i use L01 Date it shows a Strange Date like 31/12/69. I´ve already tried out with another infocube and query, but the value is the same (31/12/69).
Does anybody have any idea ?
    Regards,
    Jordan.

    Hi,
The problem is coming because L01 field contains summary data of L01 filed and L01 key field contain actual value of that field.
so date field cant be summarize so that's why you are getting an error. Please check with some non date field. hope it will work perfectly fine.

  • Value & date measure problem

    Morning,
I am having an issue and would like to see if anyone could help me out...Here is my problem.
I have a prior YTD measure which is a sum of all of 2010 in a $ amount. What I am trying to do is return a value from this prior YTD figure that takes into account todays date with 'Calendar Month'. I am very close to solving this but I have run into a problem. My formula:
    =[Prior YTD Figure] Where ([L01 Calendar Month]<= FormatNumber(MonthNumberOfYear(CurrentDate());"#"))
    so for example when this forumula is run today in a WEBI, it returns values for not only January and Februray which it should but it also returns values for October, November and December which it should not. I have a temporary fix;
    =[Prior YTD Figure] Where ([L01 Calendar Month]<= FormatNumber(MonthNumberOfYear(CurrentDate());"#")) And [L01 Calendar Quarter] InList ("1";"2";"3"))
Can anyone recommend a solution where i dont have to rely on my temporary fix? In a way to automate the forumula?
When broken down in the WEBI it should look like this(because todays month is Februay):
    calendar month1 value
    calendar month2 value
    instead it looks like this:
    calendar month1 value
    calendar month10 value
    calendar month11 value
    calendar month12 value
    calendar month2 value
    Thanks,
    Thomas

Even better, without modifying your Universe you could fix it by adding a ToNumber function to your formula, just like this.
    =[Prior YTD Figure] Where (ToNumber([L01 Calendar Month])<= ToNumber(FormatNumber(MonthNumberOfYear(CurrentDate());"##")))
This way they will be treated like numbers.

  • Olap universe lov restriction on detail object key

    Hi,
I created a restriction on dimension lov in SAP olap universe using 0PLANT dimension on Orders keyfigure as below
    <EXPRESSION>(@Select(Key Figures\Orders),[0PLANT].[1000])</EXPRESSION>
this syntax works but webi results are not matching with BEx.
Values of BEx RKF and formula object (
    =[Orders] Where([L01 Plant] = "1000")
    )created in webi are matching.
I am trying to create restriction on detail key object,  like
    <EXPRESSION>(@Select(Key Figures\Orders),[0PLANT].[LEVEL01].[[20PLANT]].[Value].[1000])</EXPRESSION>
above measure is giving error when i run the webi query.
here both L01 Plant and L01 Plant Key are having same lov as 1000,but i wanted check exact values with detail key syntax.
Can anyone please tell me the syntax for using detail objects keys for restriction in Select Clause.
    Thanks,
    Harsha

    Hi,
why are you not creating this as a restricted key figure in the underlying BEx Query ?

  • Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.
    EJ:
    1) Bex Query Designer
    Colunms
    (Structure) ZSRT_123
                          - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Guayana

         - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Caracas

    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'BBB'
    Rows
    (Structure) ZSRT_456
                   (Key Figure)     Net Sales
    2) Universe designer
    (Class) ZSRT_456
    >(Measure)      Net Sale
    (Class)     ZSRT_123
    >(Dimension)      ZSRT_123
The universe dont translate the two Characteristic Restrictions in the structure ZSRT_123.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.
