L7580 net printer driver disappearing in Win 7-62 after connecting with Remote Desktop Connection

I have an Officejet Pro L7580 connected via ethernet. I've been using the driver released from Jan 2010, and whenever I connect to my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 computer via Remote Desktop Connection, the printer drivers for both the printer and the fax disappear. I have to constantly run the "add a device" window to add the printers back again.
Why do they disappear like that?

OK after updating the Server and clients I am still having this issue :(
and just today after no sound problems for 6 days the sound dropped out on a couple of RDP sessions, yet the sound on the client itself worked fine when tested (minimise the RDP session).
It took the RDP sessions to be restarted to restore the sound within the session.
I have found similar (old) thread regarding this problem:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/958fd891-6f55-432b-8268-a326ac6b2b2e/sound-in-remote-desktop-session-stops-working
but no one has informed about if as solution was ever found.

  • Easy print not working on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 client with Remote Desktop connection version 8.1

Easy print is not working on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 client with Remote Desktop connection version 8.1 . Printers dont get redirected when you connect to the terminal server. The server we are connecting to has Windows 2008 server.  On 32 bit Windows
7 and windows XP clients Easy print is working fine and printers get redirected in terminal server.

I am having the exact same problem. Windows 7 works fine, but 8.1 will not redirect printers. Others said to check local policy terminal services settings and my setting are all set as they should.
I think Windows 8.1 is not telling the terminal server what printers it has.

    Hi William,
Please make sure that Forward printing devices is checked. This allows you to use the local printer connects to your Mac in a remote desktop session.

  • Remote Desktop Connection and printing issues

    Hi,
I am using Windows 7 on my desktop and also connected to Windows Server 2008 R2 to run applications in Windows Server. However, I noted there is problem with the printer issues. Sometimes, when I tried to print some documents using applications
in Windows Server with my local printer in my room connected to desktop, it won't work.
Moreover, I need to go to Windows Server, Component Service to restart printer spooler so it will work again. This is a pain.
I also noticed there is about 30 seconds wait to process any document to print.
Unlike if I print documents directly from my local desktop computer running Windows 7 and connected to local printer, it only takes seconds to print.
My desktop is connected to Windows Server 2008 via local area network. I should not expect such a significant delay in printing.
I also wonder why printer spooler needs to be restarted when printer is not working.
Can anyone advise me about this? Can Microsoft looks into this problem and release updates to fix the bug to improve the system?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Clement

    Hi,
Please check if you turn on this settings:
You need to set this up just before you connect. The setting will be saved so that you won't need to change it the next time you connect.
    1. Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button, clicking
All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking
    Remote Desktop Connection.
2.Click Options, and then click the Local Resources
    tab.
3.Under Local devices and resources, select the Printers check box.
4.Click Connect to start the session.
Make sure that you select your printer in the Print dialog box each time you print.

  • "remote desktop connection has stopped working" When printing from remote desktop connection

I have been having a issue when using a windows 7 machine. I have Remote Desktop to a session on Windows2008 R2, I am using the local printer resources to redirect the printing. However everytime i try to print it crashes the remote desktop application.
Gives me "remote desktop connection has stopped working." I have 4 other computers connected and printing with no issues what so ever. This only happens when i print. It does print by the way just the application crashes.
-I have also updated the printer drivers to newest possible thru the manufactorer website. The printer is a Brother MFC-8890DW. Windows 2008 R2 is up to date for the RDS server. 3 other machines are able to Remote in and print. The user is able to print using
diffrent machines just not the Windows 7 machine.

    Hi,
Happy to hear that you resolved your issue. For another issue which you are facing here trying to provide some suggestion.
As you have commented that you are facing issue with second screen resolution on wide screen. The setting which I am suggesting can only applies when you are using multi-monitor Remote Desktop connections.  If you are making Connections using a single
monitor do not use this setting.
So for this you can try to apply “Limit maximum display resolution” setting in group policy, where you can mention the width & height for the screen to display. The setting can be applied on below mentioned
    path.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment

  • Printing on my mac whilst connected to windows 2003 remote desktop connecti

Hi, please can somebody help. I have a MacBook Pro and i am connecting to a windows 2003 server using microsoft remote desktop connection. I need to print on the printer connected to my mac. How do I get windows to see the printer that is connected to my Mac?

Hi, please can somebody help. I have a MacBook Pro and i am connecting to a windows 2003 server using microsoft remote desktop connection. I need to print on the printer connected to my mac. How do I get windows to see the printer that is connected to my Mac?
It looks like you have to have a postscript printer (i.e. a laser printer). I have been trying to solve this problem for some time with no luck so far.

  • Trouble Printing to Network Printer via Remote Desktop Connection

    Specs:
    Macbook Pro, early 2013,
    Mavericks (10.9.2),
Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection v.8.0.5 (latest),
Connecting to Windows Server 2008 standard
Printer, HP LaserJet P2035n, connected via the network
When on the Mac connected to the server, the printers from the Mac are redirected so you're supposed to be able to print from Remote Desktop to the HP printer.  However, when you select something to print, the job goes to the print and keeps printing over and over and over again until you cancel the print job, which it usually allows you to do, or turn off the printer, which you have to do when it won't let you cancel the job.
Any advice on how to get the printer connection running normally?

What you haven't told us is what method you use to connect/setup the printer on Windows. There are two ways - Bonjour for Windows (free software from Apple), and TCP/IP raw port 9100. If you have a problem using one, try the other.

  • Problem Establishing Remote Desktop Connection from Win 7 64Bit

I just got a new Lenovo laptop running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit with Service Pack 1. I have installed all Win 7 Updates.
When I try to connect to other Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) desktops through Remote Desktop Connection over my LAN, I get the following error:
"An authentication error has occurred. The requested security package does not exist"
I can connect to a Windows Small Business Server 2003 32 bit server from the laptop without problem.
All machines are members of the same Windows domain.
The Windows 7 machines I am trying to connect to can connect to each other without issue. NLA is set as not required on each of the desktops, though I have tried turning the NLA setting on, and received the same error.
I have even tried running the 32 bit version of mstsc.exe and disabling the 64 bit version as discussed here:
    http://www.davidmoore.info/2009/12/02/running-32-bit-remote-desktop-connection-on-windows-64-bit/
    This had no effect either.

    Hi,
Based on my research, please check whether the value of HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Security Packages is
    kerberos
    msv1_0
    schannel
    wdigest
    tspkg
    pku2u
If not, please correct it and see how it works.
Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For

  • Remote Desktop Connection and iTunes - Won't recognize cd-rom drive

When I connect to my remote server using Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 7 and start iTunes it see the CD-Rom drive, but when I double click on a track in Windows Explorer iTunes opens but it does nothing!  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Okay, apologies for the duplicate thread - I tried searching and didn't see anyone with a similar issue, but now I see a thread down the page with the same issue of the disc not ejecting. I'll try WMP and see if that works any better...

  • Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC.

My Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC. I can still print from my laptop so I know the printer is working fine.
When I check ink levels through 'Printer Proerties' the message I get is 'The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device', so I guess this is a clue. I would appreciate any help you can give.
    THank you.

Just as a preliminary step, we're going to go through a complete and clean uninstallation and reinstallation. First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer (be sure to select your correct OS):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4022343
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • Printer driver embedded in win 8.1 64bit not working

    Hi,
my photosmart 8750 printer, which is a great printer and still works fine, at least with my old laptop running windows xp that is....unfortunately with the embedded HP printer driver in windows 8.1 (64bit) it is not working at all.
This is what is been happening so far, first time connected, the printer is recognized by windows 8.1 and the driver automaticly installed, if a printer test page is send it prints normally. But that is it, anything else, pdf, word doc or a picture will not print!
The printer responds to a print command, by starting something that sounds like it's going to print but after a few seconds it stops and nothing happens after that, if I look in the dialog box where docs are normally listed while they are waiting for being printed there's nothing, I'veallready restarted the print spool service but that didn't work...also reinstalled the printer a few times, but that didn't help....
My perception at the moment is that the driver for win 8.1 is the problem, because the printer works fine with the original HP driver on my win XP laptop.
Hopefully there's a workaround for this problem.....
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Printer Driver disappearing every time Hyper-V VM is restarted

Printer is a local network printer.  The driver has to be added to the VM every time I restart it.  It is not persisting through the restart.  I have software running on this VM that requires this printer to print reports and packing slips.
Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

    Hi,
Have you tried to manually look for the right version printer driver from the printer manufacture website instead using the automatically installation? There's might be some compatibility issue about the driver, as Cyber mentioned, you can report this issue
via Windows Feedback (click the search button on the left bottom corner in Windows Technical Preview, then type "Windows Feedback").

  • Epson Printer driver disappeared. 10.5.8

    Hi,
I have 10.5.8 and am using an Epson Stylus Color.  Now, when I try to print, all the lights on the printer flash, and I get a message saying there is a problem with the connections.  In the past, I have solved this by opening Sys.Preferences, going to Print & Fax, selecting my Epson printer, hitting the minus sign to delete it and then hitting the plus sign to add it in again.  Actually, hitting the plus sign doesn't result in my printer showing up in a list, so at this point, I just unplug and replug the USB cable for the printer, and try to print again, and it works by using the "default" printer.
Today, that last part didn't help.  I went online to Epson to d/l a printer driver, and they tell me there isn't a separate d/l for that; I must go to apple and get it from the OS d/l.  So, I d/l'd 10/5/8 again, and hoped that with the new d/l, the printer driver would be there and everything would work.  Nope.  It's the same situation as in paragraph 1.
So, I don't know what to do.
I could buy a new printer...but then I wonder if it will work with 10.5.8 AND with a new upgrade I'm contemplating to Lion.
    Can anyone advise me on:
    1) how to get my printer printing again?
    2) If a new printer will be able to work with 10.5.8 and with Lion?
    Thanks

when I try to print, all the lights on the printer flash
That is not normal behaviour. Are you sure the old 740 actually still works?
If you have installed the Gutenprint driver, what actually happens if you select a document and try to print it? Do you get any kind of menu?
Did you read through the PDF manual that came with the driver?
I found this comment on the web but it relates to Tiger, not Leopard:
Setting up the Epson 740 printer is a little tricky under MacOS X 10.4. There are in fact Epson USB as well as Gimp-print (Gutenprint) based drivers for the Epson 740 in Tiger (both of which will work).
The easiest way to set up an Epson 740 print driver is to use the Printer Setup Utility to delete any existing printer queues for that printer. You should then be able to unplug and replug in the USB cable for the Epson 740 and a new printer queue will be automatically created. This method of creating the Epson 740 printer queue will always work.
The creation of the Epson 740 printer manually from within the Printer Setup Utility is more problematic. If you create the printer without using the "More Printers..." button to select the printer driver, the resulting printer queue is broken and will stop the print queue anytime you send a print job to it. If you use the "More Printers..." button to select the Epson USB driver for the Epson 740, the resulting printer queue will work fine.

  • When install printer driver via Bonjour, what information OS/CUPS communicate with printer firmware to auto-detect and find correct PPD to install?

    Hi guys,
We are developing printer driver/firmware for Mac OS X 10.5 and up. Right now we have problem that  printer firmware fail to be auto detected by Mac OS 10.5 during installation via Bonjour. Could anyone teach me how the communication works between OS/CUPS and printer F/W during the installation via Bonjour? What kind information the two sides exchange?
    Any input will be appreciated!

Sorry for the incorrect information. The OS should be Mac OS X 10.4 instead of 10.5

  • WIN 7/ XP environment, combined with ethernet/wireless connection

    OK, here's the setup
HP OfficeJet 7310, which I've had for a few years, as such have no idea where the support/install CD for it is.
Connected through an ethernet cord to my router, which is connected to my desktop computer running WIN 7.  Since I don't have the install disk, I had to DL the drivers/software/firmware...its all running good with full capabilities (print/scan/fax, although for some reason I can't access any computer generated cover pages, but in fact have found a work around with that where it doesn't matter and in fact is a bit easier).
Also have a netbook running XP which I would also like to fax from.  It has already been set up and working with the print function of the OfficeJet wirelessly (Through the same router, just doesn't have a corded connection.  As I would like to fax from it, I thought I would have to download the software/firmware/drivers on that netbook to have those capabilities.  When I select printer on the desktop, I simply choose "OfficeJet 7300 series FAX" and figured as soon as I DL'd the drivers and stuff, that would auotmatically come up on the laptop.  It doesn't.  I'm sure its a fairly simple fix, but I'm sitting here dumbfounded.
Should I share the Fax printer on the desktop computer?  Tried to do that, but having trouble with that process, and i'm assuming it because I'm running two versions of Windows.
All I need is a way to FAX off the netbook, that's all I'm looking for.  Already have print capabilities on both..HELP!!!

by public network i mean that anyone has access meaning there is NO security on the wireless network. if the mac is connected to the school network and then detects any other more secured wireless networks it's going to try and connect to the better network. it's expected behavior. you can try changing the location in network preferences and also try renewing the DHCP lease to see if it helps. other than that no way to really troubleshoot a public network connection since no access to the router.
