This would be done from the Audio/MIDI set-up utility found in your Utilities folder.
It's called creating an aggregate device. When creating the aggregate device, you simply tell it what two (or more) audio devices you want included.
Then when you launch Logic, you select this new aggregate device as your audio driver.
It's very easy to do

  • Spotify says "problem with soundcard", also itunes not giving sound. youtube is giving sound.

Spotify is saying "problem with soundcard" also no sound from iTunes, however, youtube has sound as does the laptop for facebook pings......any suggestions please?

    Hey Alan,
Can you let me know what specific model laptop you are using? Also let me know what operating system you are currently working. Try using Spotify with headphones to see if you are able to hear sound. To me this sounds like an installation issue. I would go ahead and completely uninstall Spotify and then reinstall it since this issues does not occur using the web browser. Do you have sound in any other applications?
    Thanks

Help required with connection / settings between a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX (soundcard) and a Creative DTT3500 Digital (5. speakers).
    The problem
No sound from any of the speakers. (Exception can plug in headphones at front)
    Background
My computer has been recently upgraded at my local computer shop and all programs re-installed (including driver update from Creative's website). However after reconnecting speakers and restoring the original settings I?m getting no sound from any of the speakers. I?ve followed all the available advice/instructions I can find on this website and manuals to no avail.
    Set-up
    Physical
(Digital DIN) Speakers/decoder amplifier (DTT3500) connected to the (digital out) soundcard (Audigy Platinum EX) using minijack to DIN cable. (As per instruction manual)
    Software
Creative Audio Consul ? setting as per instructions, however have tried variations in vain. (Note: above tabs there is a select device box with SB Audigy [A0000] in it ? only option. Just wondering what [A0000] means?)
Your advice please. A simple step by step guide would be appreciated, many thanks in advance, Jon

"My computer has been recently upgraded at my local computer shop and all programs re-installed (including driver update from Creative's website). "
Do you have the original installation disk?
If so, try installing THOSE drivers, ESPECIALLY if it worked before. Be sure to uninstall what is there now, first.
Its natural for most people to want the 'latest' drivers for their hardware. However:
After experiencing some difficulties with some CL 'updates' for certain products, I now avoid them UNLESS I am having a PROBLEM with the existing drivers.

  • Wow! -what a noisy mac, even with soundcard!!!

I have been switching over to the new/used flat panel from the snow imac. Despite the trial and tribulations of moving data and adjusting to Tiger etc... I'm loving it! Till tonight when I tried to record with my headset and USB soundcard. Man, this thing is loud!!! I even did a soundcheck on the old imac, and I can tell you silence is golden over there. This flat panel is one loud machine. Does anyone have any advice to shut this thing up? I am using a Maya soundcard, and still there is so much hum and hiss. My basic voice recording setup was way better on the other machine. Thanks.

    Hi Zot,
Thanks for your help! That solved one half of my problem. Turning things down really improved the quality. I also have been having a feedback issue when I unplug. I recently got a 2.4ghz phone that was sitting next to the speakers. Moved that, and it improved things as well. However even when I go to playback something through the computer whether on the internal speakers or external after recording and using soundcard I am again getting feedback. Right now as I type, it's like I can hear my typing amplified and reverberating off the computer base. I have speakers and soundcard unplugged! Also, the other night I had the bizarre experience of playing Led Zeppelin on the boombox across the room and have the sound come thru my headphones attached to my computer. Honestly, I'm only drinking coffee!!!! Okay, sounds like I'm having some grounding or looping issues. Across this desk also sits my modem and wireless router. What do I do next? This is painful and I need to get recording again. I'm also concerned about damaging my computer. Thanks.

  • Play sine wave with soundcard on CVI

Does anybody know how to generate sine waves with the soundcard ?
    Thank you for your help.

    Diver,
The way to go here is the Windows SDK. First make sure that you have the Windows SDK installer; go to the help menu and you should be able to select Windows SDK . If you don't have that option then you need to run the installer again and change the installation to include the Windows SDK.
Once you have this running there are a couple of ways you can do this:
Play a WAV file: this is the easy and fast way of doing it; record or generate the WAV file with any simple sound editor and use the function PlaySound() from the Windows SDK to play strait from the file (you can find more info about the function in the Windows SKD help file).
Play generated data using lower level soundcard functions: this is not as easy, but gives
you the most flexibility; you basically open a session with the sound card and write data to it. I'm attaching a very basic example that can get you started.
Use Media Player to play a file: you can use ActiveX to embed Media Player in your UI and use it's capabilities to play wav files. CVI has a good shipping example about this, you can find it here.
You can request this feature for future version of CVI; go to http://www.ni.com/contact and select product feedback to submit your request.
In the mean time I hope this helps you get started.

  • Trouble with soundcard on msi k8n Neo2-fx

    Hi!
I cant get my soundcard to work on my new motherboard. It is a m-audio audiophile delta 24/96 soundcard and the motherboard is a msi k8n Neo2-fx with a 3500+ processor. I have turned the internal soundcard off and also turned serial and com-ports off in bios to se if it was an irq problem, but it didnt help. It finds the soundcard, but when you have installed the driver, you get a code 10 "this device cannot start".
I know there is nothing wrong with the soundcard, it works perfectly on other computers I used.
I also tried to install another ethernet card, but that didnt work either. It didnt find the correct drivers for the device, although I know it is included in windows xp.
Is there something wrong with my pci-slots? Someone who has any tips?
    /thanks in advance

There is a wide literature about the motherboards that best suits audio cards...
The M-audio cards seems to have a wide range of compitability but there are other issues that you should also concerne...
First, the IRQ conflicts.. try use other PCI slots and see what happens..
Most of the time in an ACPI pc the IRQ's of audio cards are messed with those of the display card...
Another problem has been reported when the display card is on PCI-E .....
I would try to unhook anything from the PCI's and switch from one to another 'till the problem is solved.. You may also need to download newer drivers from M-audio...
    Good Luck and be Patient

  • On acquired sign with soundcard!!

Hi!, I am using to sound card for to acquire a square sign. As the sound card has filters that it work among 20 - 20000 hz, the square sign doesn't come out perfect to lack some components of high frequency. Can I to incorporate these components that lack with labview to have the perfect sign?.
I only want to calculate the frequency of each pulse of this sign.
Can you help me?. thank you.
    [email protected]

Hi JRA!, yes, I am trying enters a square sign (of encoder), the sound card filters the waves of high frequency and therefore he lacks labview information to show the perfect sign. But I believe that it is not necessary, that the sign is perfect to calculate the frequency of each pulse. Is it this way?. I alone want to know the frequency of each pulse. I don't care amplitude.
I have tried to calculate the frequency of each pulse. I have recorded the sign and once saved. I have tried to calculate counting the pulses, with the option ' indices', subtracting at the 2º -1º, 3º-2º,... .
but this is not accurate because the sample rate is to 44100 hz and I use signs from 50 hz to 10khz. To high frequency it counts very few points, to 10 khz it counts 4 and t
    his is not accurate.
Is there some form of calculating it more accurate?. What vi's can I use?.

  • Itunes 7.0.1 skipping problem with audigy soundcard

Hi, I have an audigy se soundcard and running itunes 7.0.1. Whenever the cpu usage spikes (opening applications and loading animations on webpages) and I'm playing music in itunes, the music skips and cracks. I don't think it's issue with soundcard/driver cuz winamp works perfectly fine with no skips. I've tried changing audio pref (tried 8, 16, 24 bit and 32, 44.1 and 48 khz) in quicktime, all of which did't work. I don't want to change the process priority for itunes cuz i have to do it every time. Any ideas? This doesn't happen with onboard audio so it's really weird. I want to be able to use my soundcard. Thanks.

Did you try turning your hardware acceleration setting down? I was having the same problem with the previous version of iTunes and was advised to change my acceleration setting from "full" to "basic". If you want to try this, go to the control panel>sounds and audio devices>audio tab>sound playback advanced button>pull the acceleration lever down two notches from Full to basic. Restart itunes and see if that helps.

  • For all the people on the fence with Creative products

    To whom it may concern,
I have been using Creative lab products since the original Soundblaster series was introduced for public consumption oh so many years ago....and I have never been happier with a manufacturer when it comes to sound cards.
Not one manaufacture puts the features or quality into their soundcards like creative does, and their driver support has been pretty top-notch over the years.
Now no one is perfect, but I find it funny that after building 500+ PC's in the past 8 years, that I seem to be the only one in this forum (besides the admin and mods) that has had almost ZERO problems with their soundcards (And I personally have owned everything from a Soundblaster ISA to the Audigy 2 ZS).
I've installed countless other brands of soundcards in customer machines (And only because the customer was "a cheapskate" and deemed cost was more important than quality.) And everytime I've had a customer come back to complain about the horrible sound problems, replacing the el' cheapo soundcard with a SoundBlaster ALWAYS took care of the problem...and If had my way, I would never sell a machine without one.
BUT, as long as their are UN-INFORMED CHEAPSKATES that insist on spending the absolute BOTTOM DOLLAR on thier computers, your gonna see the same typical "my soundcard dont work, and its everybody's fault but mine" complaints in forums like this one.
Half or more of the people that post their gripes and complaints in this forum are the same type of idiots that refuse to spend more than 300.00 on a PC, expect it to run like they spent 3,000.00, then cant figure out why the thing dont work worth a crap every time they use it or try to upgrade it.
If most of these people just did some research before they just ran out to wal-mart to buy their computer, and maybe took a class or bought a couple of books (AND READ THEM), most of these complaints and gripes would dissappear.
I've found that 95% of the problems with soundcard installs has nothing with the card itself (Short of a driver issue)....nearly every problem with a non-functioning soundcard stems from either improper BIOS configuration, improper PCI slot selection for the card, or just a CHEAP / GENERIC MOTHERBOARD.
As with anything else in life.....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...if you spend 50 dollars on a junk motherboard when you shoulda spent 50.00....WHAT THE HECK DO YOU EXPECT TO GET OUT OF IT.
With all that said.... I know this was a long rant, but I couldnt take seeing how so many people in this forum do nothing but cut down on creative for problems that were most likely the fault of the user to begin with.
REMEMBER PEOPLE.....GIGO, Computers only do what their told to do.

  • Problems with Audio J

Heya, I have a problem that has confused the hell out of me all day.
I am trying to run VTT Virtual Turn Tables with the Audio Doohicky option enabled. What this does is aslong as you have a audio jack splitter which converts the sound from the soundcard into 2 mono channels, you can have the sound from one source going to your speakers and the sound from another going to your headphones, basically it enables you to dj properly on a pc with soundcard.
This is not working right with my pc, what appears to happen is my subwoofer detecting the audio jack and stealing the sound or something, instead of having the sound come out of lets say just my headphones it comes out of my headphones and at a lower volume through the speakers which goes to normal volume when I change to the speaker channel. I'm not sure whats causing this I don't know much about this sort of thing but please can you help me this is sending me crazy?:smileyindifferent: .
Some stats, Sound card is an audigy , old I know but still very awesome powerfull sound, and speakers are 2. inspire t3030. I think this sub is interefering with the signal, it probably thinks its doing right but no!
    Thanks in advance
    Will

  • Problems with Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-

In device manager, the SB Li've shows up as
multimedia device instead of SB Li've, the SB Li've disc starts the
install and then says I need to insert the SB disc (the disc has no
scratches), and when I ran dxdiag.exe, I got the following results.
Thanks for your support. DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3
(DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x8878000a (The request failed because
DirectSound resources, such as the priority level, were already in use
    by another caller.)
I tried uninstalling the card from Windows, removing the card from my system, rebooting, powering off, and reinserting it in a new slot, but that didn't work.

I've had problems in the past with soundcards, ect. Try going to control panel/ system / Hardware tab / Device Manager / Sound, video and game controllers and see if you can remove the hardware (your soundcard) by right clicking and removing it. Reboot the computer and the computer should be trying to detect a new piece hardware while you still have your soundcard in the computer. When the Wizard comes up, install the disk and let the Wizard from Windows do the installation.
You want the cd installation do the install. Then after you have the software installed, you can go into the properties of your hardware and see that the drivers/devices are working properly.

  • Hey Creative! . .DirectSound API removal have to do with playing music or general Windows soun

NOTHING! So why and the heck is there constant poping and scratching in the sound fields?I am a very, very seasoned programmer and I have read alot of what you people are trying to force feed Creavite customer-base...and its very pathetic. Vista isnt Beta...its retail, or did you not realize that??The DirectSound API being "removed", as you call it, has NOTHING to do with the popping and hissing of mp3's and general sounds in Vista when you are using one of your cards. Its only used when games or other apps need additional "power" to up their sound quality. FIX IT! NOW! You are bound by your customer base to do this...

As stated above, crackling and popping is on other OS BESIDES Vista, it really has nothing to do with directsound itself. It has to do with many factors related to computers, sound cards are notable because of the inheritable latency that effects overall systems. There are dozens of things one can change on a system to remove it.
It could as simple as removing card and putting in another PCI slot, or tweaking Bios settings. Or it could be a whole issue with another piece of hardware not playing nice with soundcards, regardless of brand, Nvidia Nforce chipsets are known to have problems (not sure if newer ones fixed the issues). Its trial and error, my old ASUS motherboard HATED my X-FI card, i got it to go away but required lots of tweaking, upgraded to newer one and worked flawlessly.

    Hi CpTMaverick,

There are 4 connectors on the subwoofer, green, black, orange and grey. You will need a 4:4 cable to connect your speakers to your soundcard. Get in touch with the online store to check for availability.

Situation changed. Having restored settings to previous state after doing all the below, about a day later I now have no sound at all for no reason whatsoever. I have rebooted, re-checked all connections etc etc, sound has just disappeared in the middle of the day without changing anything. It was fine this morning and now it's completely silent and PC's been on all day. This card is definitely dead, what else would do that?!?!

    Hi,
OK, I can't test on another PC as I don't have access to one, and I really dohope this is the last set of tests incidentally. It worked, then it stopped one day. A complete reformat and clean driver install didn't fix it. Re-seating the card didn't fix it. Seems pretty straight forward to me the card has failed, and I do need it replacing.
I have however done everything else below as requested. If I select CMSS, I get no output for rear-left/rear-right using channel test. If I select CMSS2, I get output from the front speakers for rear-left/rear-right channels, but nothing from the rear.
If I configure to 5. and enable CMSS I get output from jacks and 3 (orange & green)of the soundcard in the left headphone earpiece.
    Hear from you soon,
    Rob.

    Dear Rob
    Thanks for your reply
Please test the soundcard on another PC(With different motherboard) Ensure onboard soundcard is disabled.
Run creative diagnostic test, any problems?
Go to device manager, is there any problem with soundcard?
Configure the speaker setting as 5..
Please enable CMSS and play MP3.
Use a earphone and connect to line-out of soundcard.
    Any sound?
Now please try on line-out3, any sound?
Please verify the correct jacks you are connecting..
CMSS is an option that allows you to play your audio to all 5. speakers even if you are not playing a true 5. encoded audio file. For example, if the sound is a stereo sound, it will duplicate the front channels, and send them to the rear channels. Then it will mix the left and right signals to create a center channel. Turning CMSS on basically simulates
    5. audio.
TO TURN ON CMSS IN Mediasource
. Open MediaSource (Start, All Programs, Creative, Creative MediaSource, Creative MediaSource Organizer).
    2. There should be an EAX button underneath the Record button at the bottom of the screen, towards the left. Beside this button, there should be a small ellipsis button (. . .) that you can press. Click on this.
    3. Go to the CMSS 3D tab and check the box next to "Enable CMSS 3D"
    4. Place a dot next to either CMSS or CMSS2. Whichever sounds better to you.
It is important to remember that if you do wish to play a 5. encoded file, you will need to turn CMSS off. Otherwise you might not receive each discreet channel.

Always disable onboard sound nad have just reformatted XP and reinatalled with drivers from creative website, so I know installation is not corrupt and up-to-date. I also had this problem before re-installation of XP, so suspect hardware rather than software failure.
Have removed all traces of card/drivers and tried again and moved PCI slots with same results.

    Dear Rob
    Thanks for your reply
Rear center is fine in speaker test...
Anyway if you have test the speaker with another device and no issue for rear channels, there is no problem with speaker system now...
Please insert the soundcard on another PCI slot, and make sure it is firmly inserted. Please disable any onboard sound card if available through BIOS.
Go to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs and un-install all listings related to your audio card. Do not restart your computer when prompted so.
Go to Control Panel, and switch to Classic View. Click System, Hardware tab, Device Manager button and delete all sound cards entries in Sound, Video and Game Controllers as well as any previous sound card entries from the Device Manager.
Reboot the computer and cancel out of any driver installation if you are prompted. Insert the Creative Sound Blaster installation CD into your CD-ROM dri've. Exit from the installation wizard if it autoruns.
Click Start, Run and then Browse. Browse to Z:\Audio\Drivers\CTZAPXX.EXE, where Z represents the CD Rom Dri've.
Choose YES if you receive a prompt "Overwrite existing shared creative audio driver files?"
Select Driver un-installation for WDM drivers and click OK.
When prompted to restart, say No.
Click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and press Enter.
Check the box next to Selecti've Startup and deselect Load Startup Items.
Select the SERVICES tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services.
Uncheck all results and click OK.
Browse to the C:\Temp folder and C:\Windows\TEMP (if it exists) - all files and folders in the temp folder need to be either deleted or moved to a new folder.
Browse to Program Files, Creative and delete the Sound Blaster Folder - if you get a file that won't delete, right click on the file, click Properties and clear all the attributes. The file should then be able to be deleted.
Empty the Recycle Bin, and reboot the computer.
If you wish to reinstall your software & drivers, do this now. For more information on how to install your product, please visit the Product Guide page for installation instructions. Otherwise, go to the next step.
Click on Start, Run. Type MSCONFIG and press Enter.
Select Normal Startup, and press the OK button.
    Reboot the computer
Run creative diagnostic test, any problems?
Configure the speaker setting as 5.
    TEST CARD WITH HEADPHONES
    . Run speaker test
    2. Plug headphones into the front out jack 3. Click on the speaker test button 4. In the headphones you should hear a voice for front left, and front right.
    5. Plug headphones into the rear out jack 6. Click on the speaker test button 7. In the headphones you should hear a voice for rear left and rear right.
    8. Do you hear sound from each channel?
    Any sound from rear channels?

Support Inquiry: ID(3) My Creative hardware stopped functioning correctly
    Product: Sound Blaster? Audigy? 2
    Purchase Date: 4/3/2004
    Serial Number:
    Operating System: Windows XP
    Creative Model Number: SB0240
    Computer Brand/Model: self built
    Processor/CPU: Athlon 3200+
    Memory: 2xgb DDR400 Dimms
    BIOS Type/Revision: Phoenix - rev 008
    System Board/Chipset: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe rev2.0
    Detailed Problem Description:
Typical, following months of trying to get a replacement remote control cable for my inspire 6. 6700 the 2 rear speakers on the set don't play sounds any more. I have done a clean XP install to ensure no driver corruption, but no difference. It's not the subwoofer as I have a spare, unused sub and that gives the same results.
I have also checked all cabling, mixer/volume settings and nothing unusual is showing.
Of course, my audigy 2 card is my guess as the culprit, I can't be positi've though. All other speakers operate perfectly, can even hear background hiss through the rear-left and rear-right speakers which won't play sounds/music/games or anything at all. But when I select "Creative Speaker Settings" to test the channels individually, they don't play a test sound here either.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Rob.

    Hi qwerty,
Dun tink that creative customer support sucks cos I had been dealing with them in the past and I can say that their service are quite gd and fast. If you wanted a refund, I tink you need to contact the store that sells you the product. Dun tink creative will refund you though.

  • Bought a used HP Coler Laserjet 4700N and don't know how to hook up.

I just bought a HP Color Laserjet 4700n printer from a place that just sold out.  I didn't any cords to connect it to my Del Dimensions E520 couputer.   I am just a computer user and connecting this printer sounds a bit complicated.  I didn't get any maintenance or usage books when I bought it.   So I'm very confused about drivers, and how the heck to get my computer to recognize this printer.  Can anyone guide me thru it?

Thank you for the response, however, I'm pretty disappointed. Why are you guys failing to make headsets the work well with soundcards? I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude to you in general, but I'm just pretty unhappy with the late line of USB headsets. Defeats the purpose of us having soundcards at all, and we don't get as good of sound. Guess I'll be RMAing this headset.
