Labview 6.0, rtdx com api, and ti dsp

According to the ti code composer studio tutorial (ti document spru301c.pdf
http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/spru301c/spru301c.pdf, pg 1-13), one should be able
to communicate between labview and a dsp using the rtdx com api. I know that NI offers
the DSP Integration Kit, but it looks like some rtdx functionality can be accomplished
without this by using this com api. I haven't been able to find any examples of doing this. TI
did not seem to have any examples, I'm wondering if National Instruments has an example
or can suggest a method of doing this.
Thanks.

Ame G.,
Thanks for your suggestions. i tried the TI DSP Test example(Audio_dsk6711_bios_ccs2.20), but the example could not work correctly.
The RTDX just transmitted the data from TI DSP C6711 DSK to Labview slowly. The data-rate is about 1 Hz. And i use the RTDX example in
TI DSP tutorial to try again. I got the same result. I just received the data( 8 integrals) from TI DSP C6711 in 1 Hz. I want to use Labview
to receive the data( 8 integral) in about 30 or 20 Hz. what is my problem? RTDX mode(continuous mode or non-continuous mode)? interrupt? or others?
i provide my problem. Thank you very much and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Danial

  • MDM COM API Installation

    Hi All,
How can we install MDM COM API on the server. I mean what are the requirements.
I have to run MDM UOM manager for which it is required.
    Thanks
    Devinderpal Yadav

    Hi,
first of all you should consider installing the COM API and the UOM Manager on a client machine as it is a client software.
    1. Download COM API from service marketplace
    2. Copy the installer to the according server / desktop pc
    3. Start installation
    Prerequsite:
Runs only on windows platforms (as a matter of course due to the fact that it is a COM lib).

  • License API and Corba to COM bridge

    Guys,
We'd like our B1 tool (uses DI API and DI Server) to be able to get from the B1 license server how many licensed users there are (professional users). With a bit of investigation, I've found that there is a License API, however being CORBA based it isn't something we can easily use with our technology (being COM and .NET based).
I have found the "COM License Bridge to CORBA License Manager 2005" installer, samples and source code. I have tried this on a B1 2007 test box and it seems to work. I have a few questions, which hopefully someone here may be able to answer or at least point me in the right direction.
    1) What are the license terms for the bridge? On the download page ([http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/1037666e-56e9-2b10-1588-cba9157a83e2 [original link is broken]|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/1037666e-56e9-2b10-1588-cba9157a83e2 [original link is broken]]) it indicates that the bridge is under some sort of 90 day evaluation license. Do we have to apply for a full license for it from SAP to use it? How do we do that?
    2) Are we able to redistribute the bridge as part of our commercial package? Do we have to use the supplied installer, or can we incorporate the bridge executable into our own installer?
    3) Is this bridge officially supported and maintained by SAP? Can we log issues with SAP support with it? Will it have any necessary changes made to it for 8.8?
    4) On the license API itself, will this continue to be available within 8.8?
    5) The download page has an option to download the source. Now, I understand that if we decided to recompile ourselves, or use the source as a basis for our own CORBA based solution, we'd be on our own (and we have to get hold of the necessary open source libraries). However, the supplied code seems to be missing two files (LicenseInterfaceC.cpp and LicenseInterfaceC.h). Where do I get these files from? (I have already asked this question on Lisa Mulchinock's blog at [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3414800)ID1613217250DB01810329660145726482End?blog=/pub/wlg/13891] so sorry for the duplication on this one)
    Regards,
    Greg

In case anyone else is looking at the License API, I've been asking SAP support these questions also, and they've confirmed that the License API is still available in 8.8, is still CORBA based, and that SAP has no developer documentation or other information on it at all apart from the example bridge to COM code. They also say that they will not support any issues with the bridge.
So, I'm left with two sets of questions really - one set is around the commercials and licensing of samples on the SDN site here (my questions about the license terms that appear when you download the bridge, and about redistribution). The other set is around ownership and maintenance of the bridge - if it isn't an official SAP supported component, it would seem if we used it we are at the mercy of whoever is maintaining it in terms of support and maintenance, presumably only contactable through this forum.
This isn't a big problem necessarily. As long as the License API itself continues to be supported by SAP we could create our own solution if we found the bridge was abandoned. The lack of documentation on the CORBA interface is a problem, but I could probably reverse engineer it from the sample bridge code if only I had the missing files from the source download!
So, has the bridge been abandond? Who is maintaining it if not? Could they provide me with the missing files?
    Regards,
    Greg

The problem with submitting a bug report is I don't know how to replicate it.
The java file showed up on the "Referenced Libraries". I removed it from there and it fixed the problem.
If I return it to the classpath via Eclipse it doesn't demonstrate the problem.
I don't know how it got into the classpath to cause this problem. I even tried editing the classpath (which I'm fairly certain was not how the problem was caused) but that didn't replicate the problem.
I didn't check the .classpath to see what the entry was before I removed it via eclipse so I don't know what the entry looked like. The problem wasn't in the version is SVN so I don't know how to find what changes were made.
If you sill want a bug report I can enter one but with out any instructions on how to replicate it.

  • Hide Label step icon using Testand API and LabVIEW

    Hi,
can anyone tell me how it is possible to hide the icon of a label step using Testand API and LabVIEW?
In the Teststand Sequence Editor, on the Label Edit Tab there is a Checkbox called "Hide Icon". Is there something similar in the API?
    Thanks

    hi again,
    i have a question
    what this means?
com.sun.corba.se.impl.orb.ORBImpl is Sun proprietary API and may be removed in a future release

The message means that you are using stuff that you shouldn't be using. Sun may remove that stuff from future versions of Java which will break your code/application/library.

  • COM library and SAFEARRAY overhead

    Hi all,
I have a particular problem that seems to be an issue with labview
that I would like to know if there is a better solution for...
I have a COM DLL that requires the user to pass down a buffer, which
it fills with data and returns to the user. The function is declared
in the COM DLL as follows:
HRESULT FetchData([in, out] SAFEARRAY(float)* DataBuffer, [in] long
    DesiredAmount, [out, retval] long* ReturnedAmount);
The overhead of the call itself is minimal and I have additionally
created a test DLL that just fills the buffer with known data and does
nothing else. Debugging statements within the DLL show the call taking
on the order of a few milliseconds even with pretty hefty arrays going
in. Additionally, I've tested the DLL under C++ clients and the entire
overhead of the call (including COM overhead) is still on the order of
    milliseconds.
However, when this method is called within Labview, I get some odd
results. Labview shows the type of the first parameter (the SAFEARRAY)
as a Variant, not an array. I thought "no big deal", Labview wrapping
the SAFEARRAY into a Variant shouldn't take any appreciable amount of
time. As a result, it seems the only way to get at that data is to use
the Variant-to-Data block in Labview. Unfortunately, this call seems
to take a very large amount of time. The time it takes seems to
increase exponentially with the size of the array passed in. This
would be sort of expected if we were passing a SAFEARRAY containing
Variants, where each element would need to be individually converted.
However, the SAFEARRAY is declared to contain only floats. There
should only be a fixed (and very small) amount of overhead to access
that data from within the SAFEARRAY.
With this overhead of converting the data we can only seem to push a
few MB a second of data through Labview. Other programs in C++/.NET
can push easilly ten times this when calling the same COM DLL. NI
seems to be saying this is an unavoidable problem with using Variants
and COM, but as you can see our DLL isn't putting anything into
    Variants.
To try to increase speed a bit I created a C DLL with the following
    method:
BOOL CopySafeArrayToBuffer(VARIANT* pVar, DWORD bytesToCopy, float*
    pDataBuff)
Since Labview seems put the returned SAFEARRAY into a Variant, I had
this method take a Varint directly. It simply goes into the Variant,
accesses the SAFEARRAY contained within it, and memcpy's the requested
number of bytes into the raw buffer passed in. I can directly wire
this method to the returned buffer from the COM call. Using this DLL
it improves the speed by at least 100%. I am still sure there may be
overhead passing Labview's buffer into the COM DLL to begin with, so I
may experiment with a DLL call to generate the SAFEARRAY there also to
see if that helps speed more.
Does anyone have any idea why Labview seems to incur so much overhead
when dealing with SAFEARRAYs? The actual overhead of calling the Win32
API calls to deal with them should be insignificant. As long as the
data within the SAFEARRAY is of a single simple type (not Variants) it
should be just as fast to access as a raw buffer that a C DLL returns.
Thanks for any suggestions you have!

There is one problem with this. SAFEARRAYS are not directly compatible with LabVIEW datatypes. So what is actually happening is that LabVIEW passes in a variant to the COM library and that takes it and puts in a SAFEARRAY. Then when you try to convert the SAFEARRAY variant into a LabVIEW array what actually happens is that LabVIEW creates a new native LabVIEW array handle and copies all the data from the SAFEARRAY variant into it and then disposes the COM variant altoghether.
There is no way LabVIEW could directly continue to use a SAFEARRAY in its diagram as the according memory management is quite different between COM objects and LabVIEW data types. So this copy is basically inavoidable due to different memory management paradigmas between COM and LabVIEW.
If you new the buffer size needed by your COM DLL beforehand and had a function where you could simply pass a LabVIEW preallocated float* array pointer into, this would be no problem at all.

    Rolf:
Thanks for your insight to the problem. I didn't see your message earlier it seems because it didn't go through the forum<->news gateway. I posted that message via the newsgroups and it went through into the NI forums fine, but your response did not come back through the gateway.
The temporary solution we had implemented was basically using a C DLL that took the Variant datatype from COM along with an array and copied the data from one to the other. The C prototype was as below:
SA_CONVERT_API BOOL CopySafeArrayToBuffer(VARIANT* pVar, DWORD bytesToCopy, float* pDataBuff)
This method worked fine, but obviously has a bit of overhead copying the data from one to the other (but it still was easily several times faster than labview's internal variantToData functions.
Now I am trying to use your suggestion of exposing a method on a Labview-specific interface that takes a raw array pointer directly without using SafeArrays. However, I ran into a bit of a problem with this...
Under C, passing an array is the same as passing a single item by reference. Labview sorts out the types by letting the labview programmer manually specify the types of all the arguments to the function. (Note that the C prototype listed as you specify the arguments will look identical whether you specify passing a single item by reference or an array of those items---its up to the programmer to know what the C DLL is expecting).
Our new COM method on this interface is shown below:
    HRESULT FetchDataLV([in, out] float* DataBuffer, [in, defaultvalue(0)] long DesiredScans, [out, retval] long* ReturnedScans);
The problem is that Labview thinks the first parameter is a reference to a single item as opposed to an array. Since it is a COM method, there seems to be no way to specify the argument types as you can when calling a C DLL---everything is determined by the type library. Is there any way I can convince Labview that the first parameter is an array of floats rather than a a single float passed by reference?
Thanks for any insight you may have,

  • Adobe VBScript or COM API fails when Adobe application not already open on a certain machine

Was wondering if anybody might have input on this or observed this themselves. Is there a known issue/bug for this?
I'm building scripted tooling to automate tasks in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, using the COM API (what Adobe lists as VBScript scripting reference, but is really COM). I've tested with both JScript (Microsoft Javascript, for doing same things you would use VBScript for) and Python using COM. In both cases got the same issue.
When I was building the tooling, it works fine for me. But on a colleagues machine, the problem comes up. Sadly the error messaging is vague to pinpoint the root cause of the problem. We just know when it happens, but not why/how. We both have Windows 7 64-bit and are using 64-bit version of the Adobe apps, version CS6. Though we also have 32-bit version installed as well.
The funny thing about my colleague's machine is the the tool/script will execute fine if Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop is already open. But if the app is not open already, it just fails at the point of instantiating the COM object. On my machine it works fine in both cases.
    Here's the error output observed:
    in JScript

where app is "Illustrator.Application.CS6" or "Photoshop.Application", per the Adobe scripting guide and VBScript scripting reference.
I didn't test VBScript but assume it's the same since JScript and VBScript and Python are all using same COM interface, and VBScript and JScript using same Windows Scripting Host interface.

Also, there appears to be rather an unfortunate bug.  If the publisher does not yet have a subscriber, it looks like these two properties return an error.  Oof.
So. there is this other way to do it.  Embarrassing.
    var allowAudio:Boolean = true;
    var allowVideo:Boolean = true;
    publishingStream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", allowAudio, allowVideo);
Yep.  The secret vertical bar call.  I believe you can make this call once on the publishing stream.  However, that'll only get to the subscribers that are currently connected and it won't get to subscribers that have yet to connect.
You can also call send on the specific subscribing streams to give different permissions to each subscriber.

  • JAVA API AND ABAP API SIMPLE SCENARIO

    Hello MDM gurus
I have never used any Java API or ABAP API to leverage and present MDM functionalities on front end systems like portal,etc...
Could you please give me all the required to play around with JAVA api and ABAP api's.

    Hi Nazeer,
In order to use Portal you need Java APIs and to start with refer the MDM Java docs to get the basic idea of various classes and methods to be used in developing the simple java application and access it using portal.

  • Pull large amounts of data using odata, client API and so takes a long time in project server 2013

We are trying to pull large amounts of data in project server 2013 using both client API and odata calls, but it seem to take a long time. How is this done
In project server 2010 we did this creating SQL views in both the reporting database and for list creating a view in the content database. Our IT dept is saying we can't do this anymore. How does a view in Project database or content database create issues?
As long as we don't add a field in the table. So how's one to do this with creating a view?

    Hello,
If you are using Project Server 2013 on premise I would recommend using T-SQL against the dbo. schema in the Project Web Database for your reports, this will be far quicker that the APIs. You can create custom objects in the dbo. schema, see the link below:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ee767687.aspx#pj15_Architecture_DAL
It is not supported to query the SharePoint content database directly with T-SQL or add any custom objects to the content database.

  • Steps for java apis and mdm

    Hi all ,
How we can work with JAVA APIs and MDM .
Please tell step by step ways.
    thanks in advance.
    Thnks
    nm

    Hi Man,
You have to specify the correct JAR files in the classpath of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The API consists of five JAR files:
    1. mdm-admin.jar
    2. mdm-common.jar
    3. mdm-core.jar
    4. mdm-data.jar
    5. mdm-protocol.jar
These files in one single archive file with the name MDMJavaAPI_Ver<buildnumber>.zip. you can download this file from the service market place by using mentioned below link:
    http://service.sap.com/swdc
then goto Download>Support Packages and Patches> Entry by application group -->SAP NetWeaver -->SAP MDM -->SAPMDM5.5 -->Java API
for the Java API documentation, you can download it from the link below:
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/current
But remember one thing that this JAVA API Version file must be compitable with your MDM Server version.you can verify this as per the build version.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Javascript API and Player Control

Spent hours the last few days digging through the forums, documentation, and WIKI to see if I could find some answers.  Unofrtunately, thus far, the data is sparse.  Can somebody direct me to some documentation on the Javascript API and what events ara available to control the player?  For example, how do I send the player an event to "mute" the volume?  Or, how do I send the player an event to "seek" to a point in time in the video?  Or, how do I "listen" for a point in time in the video and then use javascript to do something else (like play another clip).
I have found some very sparse information on the use of JQuery, but, we do not use that (at least, not yet).  Simple javascript through an API is ideal.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to integrate third party API and DLL

    Dear sir/Madam
How can i integrate the third party high level API and DLL into my DLL, project keeping in view that all their functions and their definitions kept hidden. i have tried it but when importing the functions in the DLL and export the high level functions, compiler demands their declarations and prototypes.
Is their a way to hide all these high level functions and still utilize them.
    thanks, regards
    Zafar

    Hi Matrix39,
The compiler will still need the proper prototypes for the functions called in the third party DLL to compile your DLL whether you are using explicit or implicit linking to call the functions.  Declaring these prototypes in your DLL does not mean they will be exported by your DLL.  The functions exported by your DLL can be configured by navigating to Build»Target Settings in CVI.  From here you can configure what functions your DLL exports by clicking the Change... button in the Export section.  There are several options for specifying the functions including using header files and manual export declarations.  See the CVI Help for more information.

  • Not Showing the UI API and DI API reference

    Hi Experts,
I have SAPB1 8.81 pl 5.  I have also installed the sdk 8.81 pl5 but when i am opening my .Net project in visual studio 2008 the older refence to ui api and di api is showing some warning so i have just remove both the references and try to add new reference to ui api and di api.
My problem is that when i am clicking on add refernce it is not showing the 8.81 versions in the list and if i am taking the reference of 8.8 only then it's again giving the warning symbol as previous .

I am assuming that when you try to add the Reference in VS, that for SAP Business One you are choosing the COM tab.  You should see the Component Name as SAP Business One DI API Version 8.81, but the TypeLib Version will still say 8.8 ... this would be the same for the UI API.
Possibly you want to uninstall the SDK, make sure the directories are removed and then re-install.
