Hide Label step icon using Testand API and LabVIEW

Hi,
can anyone tell me how it is possible to hide the icon of a label step using Testand API and LabVIEW?
In the Teststand Sequence Editor, on the Label Edit Tab there is a Checkbox called "Hide Icon". Is there something similar in the API?
Thanks

Yes you can, you will have to set the IconName property of the step to "ni_blank.ico"

  • How to implement a dual booting PXI system using windows 7 and labview RT

    Good Day
My name is Mariano Ocana from the University of Manitoba, and I want to implement a dual system using windows 7 and labview RT in a PXIe-1082 chassis with a PXIe-8102 embedded controlled (the chassis came with windows 7 installed). What are the steps to use both systems (windows and RT)  in the same chassis?, in the NI help comes an example implementing a dual system using windows xp and RT, it is the same procedure?.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
    Regards
    M. Ocana

    Greetings, Mariano.
The real issue you have to contend with is whether or not you have a LabVIEW RT license.  If the 8102 controller was purchased Windows-Only, you likely do not have a license to run LabVIEW RT on the controller - you can purchase one, I think it's about $500, and at that point you can request a LabVIEW RT Configuration CD (that's not what it's called, but the sales guy will know what I'm talking about).  The Config CD is a CD that will partition your controller correctly with both FAT32 and NTFS filesystems (in the appropriate way) to allow you to run Windows 7 and LabVIEW Real-Time on the controller correctly.  Once done, you can then switch within the BIOS between LabVIEW Real-Time and Windows in order to dual-boot.
Either way, you likely need to contact NI sales to either purchase an RT license (if one was not received at the time of purchase) or to request a Configuration CD (it might also be called a dual-boot install CD or similar).

  • Could I use two regular computer to achieve realtime communication using the Ethercat and Labview Real Time Module?

Could I use two regular computers (one acts master , another one acts as slave using the Ethercat Internet Card) to achieve realtime communication using the Ethercat and Labview Real Time Module? if it could, what hardware should I purchase from the NI ?
    Thank you!

    Hi Xiaolin,
NI doesn't offer Windows based Ethercat master or slave software. Only LabVIEW RT can run the Ethercat driver.
However, you could use a LabVIEW RT target as an Ethercat master and use the Ethercat Internet Card with a slave PC (note: I think this will work from the Beckhoff description of the card you are describing. The card should integrate like any other non-NI slave. However I haven't tested the setup and don't advise saying it will work until you have tried).
You can use any NI RT target with two ethernet ports as the Ethercat master. This could be a cRIO, PXI or RT Desktop.

  • To generate PDF using BI APIs and loadjava utility

    Hi All,
I am trying to generate PDF using BI APIs(FOProcessor etc).
I have generated XML data through the PL/SQl procedure and storing it in a file. This file is loacted in database tier.
The APIs is used through a simple java program which is application tier. To test the process, I had to manually provide the XML file to the java class in order to generate PDF and it does generate.
Now the issue is I need to load the java class to the database so that everything gets automated(loadjava utlility).
when i try to do it, it give no class found error.
Do I need to load the referenced classes in the java file , that is, FOProcessor,RTFProcessor,FOUtility,jdbc.driver.OracleDriver as well?
If the above is not possible, is it possible to reference a file in database tier from application tier so that i can use the XML file as input the java class in application tier.
    thanks,
    Srik

The only reason I am responding to this post is because the poster sent me a request through the forum message system asking for my help.
Although I did populate PDFs with FDF data generated by web forms a year or so ago, I have since abandoned that kind of solution. It was a big headache. I found it far more stable and flexible to use html, php and css to populate forms that are almost as nice looking as PDFs.
So my advice is, if you can possibly avoid going the FDF/PDF route, you will be better off.

    Any ideas?

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for checking out VMware Integrated OpenStack and for sharing your concern.
By default, VMware Integrated OpenStack uses a self-signed certificate, which will require the use of the OS_CACERT environment variable in your openrc file and when using the API.
The better way to resolve this is to use a CA-signed certificate.  Fortunately, VMware Integrated OpenStack makes the CSR generation and signed certificate import process very easy.
If this is production, of course, use a trusted Root CA.  If this is a Dev Lab, you can generate your own Root CA certificate and use it for testing.
I wrote up a quick blog post on how to do this.
Let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Using Web API and MVC to connect to CRM and ADFS

    Hi,
I'm struggling trying to find best point start for a migration project.
I have a web forms application that connects to CRM 2011 (Azure VM, Windows Server 2008 R2) using ADFS 2.1 (Azure VM, Windows Server 2012) for CRUD operations.
An external developer has build the front end in AngularJS, so we have decided to migrate the project to MVC framework for the integration simplicity over web forms.
Can you confirm if this is right?
    1. Should I use Web API as I'll be querying CRM?
    2. Should I have an MVC project as I need to authenticate against ADFS 2.1?
    3. If one answer of the above questions is NO, can I develop just an MVC or Web API project to achieve what I want?

This forum supports setup of the .NET Framework itself.
For best help with your MVC questions, I suggest you post here:

We just released version 1.1 of VirtualBench that adds a C API and a bunch of other features, see http://forums.ni.com/t5/VirtualBench/Announcing-free-firmware-update-version-1-1-adds-SPI-and-I2C/td....  With that you could use VirtualBench in your programming language of choice if you write the appropriate bindings.

If it doesn't work with a custom theme then the theme makers didn't include that icon in its theme. You can contact the creators of those themes and inform them about that.
You can re-enable the sliding info bar at the top of the browser.
You can look at these prefs on the about:config page and reset them via the right-click context menu:<br />

  • API to generate password using Siteminder API and the password policy

Is there any API in siteminder to generate a password using the Password policies defined ?

    Hello Jim,
The way you are going about your coding sounds correct.  Per your second question, MAX installs when you update the computer drivers.  To do this go to ni.com/drivers, search for DAQmx, and then download the most current version of DAQmx that is compatible with your computers.  By installing a newer version of DAQmx MAX will automatically be updated.

  • Add limits to step settings via TestStand API from LabVIEW

    Dear LabVIEW and TestStand Community!
I'm trying to add FileGlobal Variables as limits to TestStand step NumericLimit programmatically, via LabVIEW, via TS API. I attach screenshot of the code, which I use (part of it - the module, which only sets values to low and high limit of the step), and also I attach, what I manage to get.
In TS, when I open sequence file, after running of the code, I can see in the description line of the test, that it accepted limits, which I set from LV - you can see it from the screenshot, it is marked with yellow. But in the Tab "Limits", there are still default numeric values, not FileGlobal Variables.
Could anyone explain, what doest it mean, and how to set up them correctly?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • NI 5660 Driver DLL Errors when using Teststand 2010 and LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010

This problem seems similar to the post "Resource not found error in executable on development machine." but I didn't want to repost under that thread because I only happened upon it by chance and none of my searches brought me there... so I made a more descriptive Subject.
I am working on a system that uses a PXI Chassis with a NI 5600 Downconverter and a NI 5620 high speed digitizer, among other PXI Cards.
I inherited working code written in LabVIEW 2010, running with the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010.  The code was using a custom executive and my task was to rewrite the test using TestStand 2010.  I reused the majority of the old code.  The old code used NI-5660 to control the 5600 and 5620.  When I run my sequence using the LV Development System and TestStand, it runs without any issues.  When I change the adapter over to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010, all of my NI5660 VIs become broken due to DLL issues.  It warns that the nipxi5600u.dll was not initialized correctly.  Many of the errors are associated with the NI Tuner and NI Scope. After this LabVIEW will crash randomly, and the seqeunce will not work in TestStand even when back with the LV Development Adapter.  The only way to recover after this is to restart the computer - TestStand automatically reverts back to the development system, the VIs are no longer broken and the sequence works again.
I have all of my VIs associated with a project. After reading a little bit about DLLs and TestStand, I found all of the DLLs in the dependencies section of my project and added them to my TestStand workspace.  I also used Dependency Walker to track down the problems with the nipxi5600u.dll, the 2 DLL files that it said were not found already existed in the same folder as the original DLL (C:\Windows\System32).  I have also performed a Mass Compile to make sure everything was running in LV 2010.  If I skip the steps involving the 5660, my entire sequence runs fine.
The previous code was running with the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine without any issues.  Is there just a step I am missing?  Has anyone seen anything like this before?  I can send screenshots of errors to provide more detail if necessary.

I have tried some more things and still can't get it to work.  I have added the VIs mentioned in the Notes On Creating Modulation Executables KB both to the TestStand workspace and the LabVIEW project holding all of my VIs.  This did not change the results.
When I try to run my sequence, The first error I get is shown in Error 1445.bmp.  This happens when I try to use the NI 5660 initialize.vi.  If I click ignore, the next error I see is shown in Error -20551.bmp.  When I try to open the VI to look at it, I get the 2 DLL errors shown in Error loading nipxi5600u.bmp and Error loading nidaq32.bmp.  When I close TestStand, I get the error LabVIEW Fatal Error.bmp.

  • How to increase speed of analog read using PCI 6110 and LabView 7.1?

    Hi All,
I'm a fairly novice user of LabView and I'm trying to figure out how to make my system as fast as possible. Basically, I'm reading in an analog signal (AI0) together with a trigger signal (PFI0) and I want to sample the analog signal on the falling edge of the trigger signal. What I'm finding, though, is that the acquisition rate of this system is excessively slow. My analog signals occur faster than 1 kHz, but the speed of my system is only about 100 Hz. A colleague of mine told me that the DAQmx Trigger.vi I was using was probably the culprit for the slow performance I was observing. Could this be right? If so, how could I resolve this issue?
Another thought I had was to input the trigger signal into the external source input of the DAQmx Timing.vi. In this way I'd be using the trigger signal as an external clock. If operated in Continuous mode, then I think the Sample Clock would cause a sample to be read only when the trigger signal changes its state (from high to low). Could this work?
    Thanks for reading,
    Ben

    Hi Marni,
Thank you so much for your post! I tried doing as you suggested, using the Cont Acq&Graph Voltage-Ext Clk-Dig Start.vi and I first set the trigger signal as the external clock source. It works beautifully! Now, with 1.6 kHz signal in, I'm reading in 1.6 kSa/s. This is a dramatic improvement from before. I also tried using the internal clock source option, but it didn't seem to trigger when I wanted it to. I didn't spend too much time debugging it, though, since the other method works so well. This brings up an interesting question. Is the DAQmx Trigger.vi really that slow? Previously, I could read in 100 kSa/s at best using the Trigger VI. Anyways, I'm a happy camper now:-)
By the way, to answer your question about the DAQ device, I'm using the NI PCI 6110 Multifunction DAQ.
    Thanks again!
    Ben

  • Polling variables using Modbus IP and labview 8.2.0 shared variables

I'm using shared variable in order to read/write register on a Watlow PM controller over Modbus IP standard. Once I make a change to FP control, the shared variable polling starts and I no longer get update of any controls or indicators on the FP.
Just wondering if this is an LV 8.2.0 issue and if any of this is addressed in LV 8.5?
    Thx ahead of time
    richjoh

    Hi richjoh,
If I understand correctly, there are two issues to address: the status of the UpdateNow shared variable and the fact that your controls and indicators are not updating.
When you right-click on UpdateNow in your project and select Properties, what is the data type listed there?  Is it bound to one of the other shared variables that has a value in Variable Manager?
After changing a control on the front panel, do you continue to see the values changing in Variable Manager even though the controls and indicators do not update on the front panel?  Do you see the same behavior regardless of which control you change?
    Thanks for the additional information.
