LabVIEW caught fatal signal - Segmentation fault

Hi,
I've just obtained the Linux version of LabVIEW 7.0 from my University for academic use on my home PC, and I am having some difficulty getting the program to run. I've installed all of the "labview70-*.rpm" files into "/opt" using the "bin/INSTALL.norpm" from the CD (I am running Gentoo and don't have RPM support).
When I try to run the program (cd /opt/lv70, ./labview), I get the splash screen, which says "Init temp resources file" in the bottom right corner. This stays on screen for about a minute, during which time, my RAM usage gradually goes very high, followed by my SWAP usage when the available RAM runs out (256MB RAM, 500MB SWAP). This happens regardless of whether I'm logged in as a normal user or as r
oot.
The splash screen eventually disappears and the following message is printed at the terminal:
LabVIEW caught fatal signal
7.0 - Received SIGSEGV
Reason: address not mapped to object
Attempt to reference address: 0x70126d74
Segmentation fault
I have checked the FAQs and knowledge base but can't seem to find anything that sounds similar to what is happening on my machine.
My system is as follows:
Athlon 1800+ XP
256MB RAM
Gentoo Linux 2.4.22-r2
500MB SWAP partition
24GB free space on hard disk
Cheers,
Martin

Hey Martin,
This is a new one for me. Try replaying your INSTALL and bin/INSTALL.norpm files with the one's that I've attached. They work well on my Debian machine (no rpm). That way you can run "./INSTALL" instead of INSTALL.norpm (which was only meant to be a helper app, not a primary method for installation.)
As you probably know, reproducing a gentoo issue may be difficult because of the extreme customization. Is there anything uncommon that you might be doing? (using a locale other than C or POSIX, using a different threading library, etc.)

This problem is reproductible, my application crashs every time after

Yes, I tried it. We have this problem at beginning and we correct it
but it is not the same one because without this realease you can't
launch Labview. And my application run without problem during 40-48h.
Have you heard about any function not supported by Labview under Linux
environment ? It may help me to go on debugging.

I am using the following plugin version:
    Oracle WebLogic plugin build date/time: Apr 20 2009 15:29:36. Change Number: 1211636
The OS is a stock RHEL 5.4 (64 bit)
    Any ideas?

I've tried to upgrade to plugin version 1.1, but now it refuses to use SSL between the proxy and the weblogic server.
All I get from the logs is the following:
    Sun Sep 26 12:03:32 2010 <2450512854954051> mod_weblogic(ssl): Connection mod_wl SSL handshake failed (29024)
    Sun Sep 26 12:03:32 2010 <2450512854954051> mod_weblogic(ssl): SSL Handshake failed
I've created a wallet, and imported my certificate to it as a trusted certificate.
It should be noted that I have a wildcard certificate, and the previous plugin version did not support it - I had to use
    RequireSSLHostMatch false
    EnforceBasicConstraints false
for it to work. These options are no longer supported in 1.1 - Why?

    Hi all,
Im trying to set up Apache weblogic plug-in, and im having problems with
    that.
Im running Solaris 9 with Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) and Weblogic 7 with sp2.
    Here is what i did:
    I copied mod_wl_ssl.so from
    /bea/weblogic700/server/lib/solaris/mod_wl_ssl.so to /usr/apache/libexec
    Added entries in httpd.conf as
    LoadModule weblogic_module /usr/apache/libexec/mod_wl_ssl.so
    AddModule mod_weblogic.c
    <LocationMatch "\.jsp$">

    </IfModule>
When i access the url with out specifying port 7001 it's not working.
I checked the /var/apache/logs/error_log file. Im getting the error as

    Am i missing anything here?
    Thank you

You may want to check the certifications for Solaris 9 and the Apache plug-in at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/certifications/certifications/sun_solaris9.html#40366.
It looks like you will have to upgrade to at least Apache 2.0.39. We had to do
this on Solaris 8 as well.

I believe this is going to require more debugging such as attachinga
debugger(gdb) to Apache and getting a backtrace.
I suggest opening up a support case.

    Hi Eric,
    Thank you for the replies.
I tried with the same test as you specified. Still im getting the
    same

Im running Solaris 9 in SPARC platform. It's a Sun E450 server.
Im using the default apache package which comes with Solaris 9. Ididn't
    do
    anything with apache.
Bea website says that Weblogic 7 sp2 is certified for Soalris 9.
    That's
    y
    i
    installed Solaris 9.
I tested the same on a Linux Machine (Redhat Linux 7.1 on IA). It
    works
    fine
    without any problem.
How can i make things work?
Thank you for your kind replies

    Looks like it should work.
    Let's simplify your test:
    <Location /test>
    WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
    WebLogicPort 7001
    Debug ALL
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    </Location>
    Try with just that.
Another thing is that I am unsure as to whether we have tested
    with
    Solaris
    9. This is SPARC right? Also, can you outline the steps you took
    when
building apache? Did you use GCC?
    Thanks,

That means that your apache instance is compiled with -DEAPI
    and
    should
    use
    the mod_wl_ssl.so.
Can you please try to set Debug ALL and get the log in

very sluggish and wonder if this is the culprit.
I have tried tired a few solutions thinking the problem might be from a past user uid being looked for but i followed this post to fix that

I repaired Disk Utility permissions, restarted in Safe mode (same problem) and single user mode which stopped the logs from continuously updating (i just have to press the reload button). I used Onyx to clear out the cash files.  Basically I am at a loss as to what xpc is trying to launch

Bit of a newbie here so if there are extra detail I can add please ask.

crash the server (apache child segfaults):
[Tue May 10 12:50:54 2011] [notice] child pid 11446 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
    Anyone encountered the same problem?
UPDATE: It works with apache 2.2.17-1 if you stop and start the daemon after the downgrade.
    Thanks,
    Adrian.

There is already a thread regarding this.
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=118671
where it says that downgrading apache to 2.2.17-1 resolves this issue.

  • Apache Exit Signal Segmentaiton Fault

    Hi folks.
Was coding along, then BOOM! I started getting these in my apache logs:
[notice] child pid 89 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
So what's the problem? Why all of a sudden I can't view anything? It is reaching into my coded files and responding with the proper feedback, and now apache won't play.
I've checked the forums and it seems others have faced the same problem. But I can't figure out what they did to fix it. I don't use iDisk.
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers

Fixed it. Was a combination of regex in an apache directive, and my own code.

  • GNU compiled app crashes with signal 11: Segmentation Fault

    Hi Community,
I know this is not a GNU oriented forum, but maybe this is a common issue.
We have a C++ multi-threaded application running properly in Solaris 9 Sparc. Due to some issues mostly related to the NICs we needed to have the application running in Solaris 10 x86. The problem is that the compilation is ok (always with GNU) but during run time, we have the application crashing in different instructions because of a signal 11.
It always crashes in a malloc call within the libstdc++.so.6
It was compiled with the option -mt and -lthread. Is this a known problem? Do you recommend any direction to start seeking for a solution?
Pls, find attached the gdb outcomes after the crash.
    Thanks in advance, Pablo

A crash in malloc in multi-threaded code could be a bug in the system malloc or a failure to use a thread-safe malloc. The default Solaris malloc in /usr/lib/libc.so.* is thread-safe.
A crash in malloc can also be caused by a heap corruption. Probably the most common causes of heap corruption are
    - writing beyond the bounds of a buffer or variable (off by one, for example)
    - deleting the same object more than once
    - using an invalid pointer:
    --- uninitialized
--- pointing to a deleted object
--- pointing to an out-of-scope object
    - failure to guard a critical region
    - failing to declare shared objects as volatile

I submitted a crash report, but just wondering if anybody else is experiencing this. Also, kdepim-runtime kdepimlibs are both installed and up to date.
    Thanks!

Actually I would try removing everything under .kde4 and .config... It's a pain in the ass to configure everything again but... most of my problems were gone. Or maybe look for and remove kmail config files under those folders, since it seems to be a KMail related crash.

  • Xorg segmentation fault / nvidia proprietary blob

    Hi!
I've been experiencing this issue with xorg crashing leaving the system completely unresponsive and with completely black screen. It appears to happen at random times and not consistently at all. It occurred for the first time several days ago. Unfortunately I'm not in a good position to track what may have caused this because I did pretty massive update 2-3 weeks ago. Since then I've been updating pretty regularly.
    Here are some xorg logs.
    It's pretty much full with:

I'm not really sure whether this is separate issue or not but I thought I should include it here. I don't really know what this is about but I've seen "kwin effects restarted" KDE messages occurring at these times too. I'm not sure how related this may be but I'm seeing lots of artifacts on rendered pages when using chromium browser. Nothing of these used to happen before I went and updated the system. Everything was rock solid for me.

I'm not sure what is supposed to happen after xorg crashes and whether it's being restarted but everything related to xorg is unresponsive. The system otherwise is running fine but I haven't been able to find a solution to recover from this other than cold restart. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard for instance and it's being registered(probably udev is responsible for this) but it's still "dead".
Is it nvidia's fault or something else may be going on? I know you can't really do much dealing with the binary blob. I haven't given nouveau a chance for a long time but I may try this in the future if it helps with something tracking this. I'm using nvidia 325.15-10 package from the official repos for now and the card is gtx 570 fermi. xorg is the latest one in the repos.
I'm not sure what driver version this package is based on(325.15 I guess). On the nvidia site the newest ones are 331.13 beta and 319.60. I can try them but I'm not even sure whether there are some patches needed to make them work with the newest kernels. At least I hope someone could provide more info on this because it seems interesting.
I'll gladly provide more info if needed. I just don't know what more could be useful.
    Thanks!

    saty,
Is this continuing to happen for you? I am experiencing the same issue with version 325. I downgraded from 331 because there were some major bugs in that version. Have you found any solution?

  • X Segmentation fault with new sapphire HD7850

    Hi,
randomly my X server crash and reboot (like 1 time at day, while surfing the net. No problem while playing under wine/steam)
i attach the xorg log, but it doesn't say very much to me.
can you find out what is going on or what i have to do to get a better stack trace/error log?

Here is some additional information that may or may not be of any relevance. I do not know.
On the old server, I compiled the code with the compilation commands: f95 program.for
I was able to compile and execute code with small, medium size or large arrays (with or without the additional -openmp flag).
If I repeat the same command: f95 program.for
on the new server, I get the following compilation error message for programs with medium size and large arrays:
    In function `newmaxmalecor':
/mnt/ide0/home/gustaf/education/programming/cesprod100//chicago.for:4340: relocation truncated to fit: R_X86_64_32 against symbol
    If I compile with the additional flags: f95 -xmodel=medium -m64 program.for
on the new server, there are no compilation errors and I can run the code in sequence.
    However, when I compile with
    f95 -xmodel=medim -m64 -openmp program.for
on the new server, compilation works, but I cannot execute the code with medium size and large arrays.
The programs for which I have to add the "-xmodel=medium" flag on the new server to be able to compile the code and run it in sequence, are exactly the ones for which I get segmentation faults when I introduce the openmp flag and try to execute the code in parallel fashion.
    Is this just a coincidence?
    Lage

  • WARNING: init(1M) exited on fatal signal 11: restarting automatically

    Hi,
    Today I did a blunder.
    I had to apply the patch "121208-02 SunOS 5.10_x86: ld & libc.so.1 Patch" .
    I downloaded it from www.sunsolve.sun.com.
It was downloaded to /tmp/patches and unziped. After this I entered the following command:
    pkgadd -d /tmp/patches/121208-02
    instead of
    patchadd /tmp/patches/121208-02 121208-02
I answered to install all of the below packages when asked.

What about booting into single-user mode from network or cdrom, mount your root filesystem and then add the patch using patchadd -R?
