Labview executable does not open excel...

i just compiled labview code into an executable and when i run the executable, it does not open an excel document like it is supposed to. it opens the excel program, but not the specific file stipulated in the code. the problem only exists on one of my computers. the "problem computer" is being set up for the first time to run labview executables.

That is probably the reason. Microsoft is notorious for the way they change their activeX components between office versions.
At the minimum, you need to install the LabVIEW runtime engine on the other PC. It needs to be the same version as the version of LabVIEW you developed in. You can either search the NI website and download and install the run-time engine, or you can create an installer for your application from the development PC that will include the run-time engine.
You may need some other run-time engines such as VISA or DAQmx if your application is using any of those functions.

Compiled executable does not open in maximized window

I have attached a JPG showing the VI Properties that pertain to Window size. Despite the fact that I have indicated in Run-Time Position - Position: Maximized. The compiled executable does not open in a maximized window.
Even stranger, if I take the shortcut for the program and change it's properties (on the target machine) to Open Maximized, it still doesn't open maximized.
I have had this behavior with every compiled executable for a couple of years using versions of LabVIEW 8, 2010, 2011 and currently 2011 SP1. Both the compiling machine and the target machine are Windows XP.
Is there any explanation for this behavior? Any way to correct it?

I think Ravens Fan is correct. The aspect ratio appears to take precedence over the window position.
You can set a property manually in your code to maximize the window.

Excel uploading does not open excel file

On customer site users try to upload tables of docs and reports via standart MS Excel upload functionality, B1 saves data in txt file but does not open MS Excel with auto_open macro - what could be the reason?

in order to de-select the tick-box "Ignore Other Application" :

In order to de-select the "Portection from Macro Viruses"

Executable does not open dynmanically loaded vis

I have an ATE that is in vi form and works fine in this manner. It runs tests that are chosen by the user but the tests are not subvi's with in the program, they are called dynmanically by a vi that locates, opens the vi being called and closes when comlete. I tried to create an executable for the ATE, including the dynamically loaded vis, but when I try to run it, the test in progress does not appear or execute. What could I possibly be forgetting?

You may be forgetting to tell the App Builder not to remove the front panels of your dynamic VIs. Otherwise, you may also be looking for those VIs at an incorrect path. When the App is built, the VIs are included in something very much like a LabVIEW Library (LLB). Depending on how you build the path to your dynamic VIs, when the App is built, it could be broken. I always call a dynamic with another VI that will ALWAYS be in the same folder. That way the calling (or reference opening) VI can examine its own path, strip one level, and build the name of the dynamic. It will work the same way in development or compiled executable form.

Labview executable does not exit memory when closed

Hello everyone. I have been tasked with upgrading some of our vis from labview 6.0 to 8.5.1 . I was able to create new executables and run the vis just fine in 8.5. However, when I close the vis in question, the window dissapears just fine, but the process remains in memory causing me to have to go to the task manager and manually kill the process. Does anyone know what generally might cause this sort of problem to occur? This did not happen when the program was in version 6.0. Thank you for your help.

I went ahead and added an event handler "application instance close" and I added the quit labview module connected to a boolean constant of true. It's weird because the .vi running closes, but the executable remains in my task bar.
In other words, when I execute my .exe, I have ________.exe and _______.vi running. When I hit the red 'x' for my .vi, it closes but not the .exe. When I call file>quit in the .vi, they both close.
Edit: To be clearer, adding the above did not close the .exe portion when I hit the x out button in my .vi window.

MS Excel document as attachment to a PDF document does not open with a hot spot/link in the PDF

Hi, I have attached an excel file to a pdf document. I need to open this document in a new window by clicking an icon/hotspot in the pdf document to which it it attached.
I am using the Link Tool to create a hot spot around the icon in the pdf. In the next window I am using the Go to Page view option, opening the attachment to its first page and clicking the "set link" button.
For some reason, clicking the hotspot does not open the excel document as it does another pdf document.
Need help resolving this issue with attached documents.

Select a particular download file. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Open With section choose the desired default application from the dropdown menu then click on the Change All button.
For .dmg files use DiskImageMounter (System/Library/CoreServices/ folder.)
For .zip files use Archiver - same folder as above - or download TheArchiver - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

BEx workbook does not open from portal when excel is already opened

Hi all,
When I go to the portal and open a BEx workbook from there while excel is already open, then the workbook does not open.
When I close excel and then open the BEx workbook it all works fine.
I do not get any error: just nothing happens.
Any idea how to solve this?

I found this only happens when excel is open with a cell in edit mode. Whenc I then open BEx from the portal I get the error 'please install suitable version'.
Let my know if you have any advice.

Excel 2013 does not open files

Whenever I click on an Excel spreadsheet, Microsoft Office does not open the file, instead it opens Excel but without any content.
Only thing on the screen is at the bottom left corner and it states "ready"

double-click opens Excel Office 2011 for mac without the document.
It should open the document in Excel 2010 for Windows.

In Parralells, choose the file you want to open.
Right Click on it and choose Properties.
In the General Tab you will see "Opens with:"
Click the "Change ... " button.
Then choose Excel 2010. The checkbox below should be set to "Always use ... "

Disable autorun feature on labview executables **has not been solved**

Trying to disable the feature that starts your labview executable automatically when opened. I know that I could create a start button and all that jazz, but I would prefer to disable this feature if possible.

You can't disable that "feature" because that's not how applications work. An application will run as soon as it's opened. Does your web browser wait for you to press start before it starts running? That's how it works. If you don't want the VI to start its work as soon as you launch the application then you need to put it in an "idle" state as soon as it runs and it will stay there until the user presses a "start" button. Clicking the scroll wheel does not open a new firefox window

I'm running Windows 7 x64 SP1. I use the scroll wheel to click items in the task bar to open another instance of those items. Eg I scroll-click a Firefox or Excel or Explorer or whatever item in the taskbar, and it opens another instance of that program. I use this feature to open a new instance of FireFox rather than switching to the FF window, then using control-n to open a new window.
I just upgraded to FireFox 6 from FF4.x. Since doing so, scroll-clicking the FF item in the taskbar does not open a new FF window. It does, well, nothing.
I installed FF6 on a clean Win7 x86 (RTM) build in a VM. When I use the scroll-click feature in the taskbar, it works as expected: it opens a new FF window.
Things I have tried: A different mouse; updating video drivers (I doubted this would make a difference, but it needed to be done anyway, so I thought I'd mention it); running FF in safe mode (ie with all plugins etc disabled).
I'm doing a little experimentation right now with respect to x86/x64, RTM/SP1, clean FF6/upgrade from 4.x and other differences that might highlight why it works as expected in my VM but not on my physical machine.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced this problem since upgrading to FF6.

Respectfully, that answer isn't particularly helpful. I have already demonstrated that middle-clicking (mouse wheel click) will open a new instance of FF, and other programs. This was true before the upgrade from FF4 to FF6, and is true on all my VM builds (Windows 7 default install with nothing but FF installed).
Nevertheless, I've tried shift-left-click, and it does not open a new instance. It will only open a new instance if I pin FF to the taskbar, which I have already stated I do not want to do. This new behaviour is unique to FF. Other applications (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, whatever) all behave as expected. It is only Firefox that is misbehaving, and it is only misbehaving since the upgrade.
My issue is that FF has changed its behaviour with respect to middle-clicking since upgrading from 4 to 6. I'd welcome helpful comments about getting FF to behave.

Link to a file in the jsp page does not open correctly

Hi all,
I have a JSP application which is similar to a discussion forum and the messages usually carry a link to an attachment file which could be of any extension.
The client pool I am dealing with are concerned only with MS Word/Excel/PPT files. When the user clicks on the file, a new browser window opens but it does not open the file in the correct application. I know that browsers can display Doc, ppt and xls files.
In my case, the browser just shows some garbage. THe link is to the correct file, I know that because I can right click and download the file and then open it in the correct application. But I want browser to find the application and open the file.
Can somebody give me hints as to what may be wrong?
Also, I am in the development stage and therefore I have only 100 odd messages in the database. Many have attachements. But only one attachment to a particular message works well..ie the browser finds MS Word and displays the doc.
Why not the remaining doc/ppt files?

Cmd.exe window does not open in apache jserv

cmd.exe window does not open in apache jserv
I need to call a dos program from a servlet running on apache jserv1.1.
I develop with Jdeveloper wich has got a built in webserver to debug servlets.
With Jdeveloper it works fine (a dos windows opens), but when I deploy it to apache it doesn't work. The process is started, but no dos window opens. Should I change settings of jserv, is this a bug, does anyone know?
