LabView Instrumentation Experiments without any Physical Interface

Hi friends I need some kind of experiments that can be made using LabView without any external Interface especially in Instrumentation (VCO,PLL,Opamp like) so please tell is it possible or I will need the Interface or can I do something in Instrumentation without Interface in LabView

LabVIEW can be used as a pure programming language (I do it all the time!). Data acquisittion or instrument control hardware is completely optional.
You can even simulate a real instrument by using simulated devices. For more complex functionality, you can simulate any other behavior yourself in software.
Of course you still have the "user interface", i.e. the LabVIEW front panel.
Can  you explain in a few more sentences what you have in mind?

    Dear All,
When we try to apply the crypto map on any physical interface or the loopback interface on WS-6506-E, it is showing the error. But the same i could apply on VLAN interface. Can anyone explain me what is the issue..?

    Any hardware limitation?

This was proven to break CEF in the past and is a bad design choice by default.
Newer release do not allow you to configure this.
If you're curious if it will work for you check releases prior to 15.x.

  • In LabVIEW 3.0.1, how to open a VI *diagram* (opens panel only without any buttons or menus)?

I need to edit the diagram of an old LabVIEW 3.0.1 VI, which is running on a old Windows 3.11 computer (yes indeed!).
When clicking on the VI, or when opening it from the file-menu, the frontpanel opens without title- and menu-bars, and without any button-bars. And there is no "right-clicking" in Windows 3.11. The VI does not open in Run-mode, it just does not show any clickable buttons (so I can't even start or stop it this way; normally it is called from another VI). Thus I can't do "view diagram", and thus I can't reach the diagram.
Do you know of any shortcuts, key combinations or other workarounds to get to the diagram? None of the tricks which work on Windows 95 and higher seem to work here. And I am not familiar with this old LabVIEW version.

If it is not running, I think <ctrl> w is the old LV shortcut to get to the diagram.  I would open a new VI , and insert it in the diagram.  but hmmm, it has been ages... so not sure if <ctrl> double click will jump you straight to the diagram of the subvi...

  • Can we demodulate the signal recieved at DAQ card without using any hardware interface(by only using labview)?

    Hi all,
Can we demodulate the signal recieved at DAQ card without using any hardware interface(by only using labview)? if yes then how? please give brief idea.
    Regards,
    Amit

There is probably a way to do it, but it it may be easier to use an X-series board for the job.   They support a new counter capability for count reset on a digital edge without needing to be configured in encoder position mode.  I am not sure exactly how that feature's been implemented however, so maybe it won't make things easier after all.
The plan based on the hoped-for behavior:
    1. Configure an X-series counter for pulse generation based on "ticks" of your clock channel.
    2. Set both initial delay and low time to the critical # of ticks.
    3. Configure for count reset on a digital edge (if possible in pulse generation mode)
    4. Configure the count reset value to be the critical # (or possibly 1 less, if possible in pulse generation mode)
    5. If you want the output to remain high indefinitely, configure the counter task to use its own output as a
pause trigger, and pause while high.
The way pulse generation works is to preload a # of "low time" ticks into the count register.  Then every source edge will decrement the count.  When the count reaches terminal count (0), the counter's output is toggled (or can be configured to pulse).  The register is then loaded with the # of "high time" ticks and the process continues.
You would be perpetually interrupting the count-down process as long as you got your triggers in time.  The count would keep getting reset to the # of low counts, keep decrementing toward 0 without reaching it, and so on.  If ever you did reach 0, the output state would toggle high, then the high state would prevent subsequent clock signals from decrementing the count.
You can conceivably do a similar thing with a 6601, but I'm pretty sure you'd need 2 counters working together to get it working.

  • Labview crashes without any warning or error messages

    Hi,
I have been using Labview programs for the last 2 months without any problem. All of a sudden the program has started crashing while running. There are no error messages on the screen. The program runs for long hours and during my intermediate inspections i find that Labview has closed without any sign on the computer. This has happened about 2-3 times in the last week but before this there was no such problem. Also this problem is not specific to one program alone. There are other independent modules that have faced the same situation. No two programs are run simultaneously, and the programs use only serial (one of the program also uses parallel) communications with connected devices.
    Any suggestions to troub
leshoot / diagnose the problem will be highly appreciated,
    Thanks
    Gyro

Thanks for your comments. I can use the vi as a sub vi. The error/crash occurs randomly (anywhere from a before running the program to about 8hrs after starting it). Improtantly i have used this program for about 15 times without any problem. The same error is also occuring for other programs. And all of these errors have started occuring in the recent past 3-4 days. Any clues as to what might have triggered this?

  • Z77A-GD65 ram and DR. mos problem after 2 years without any HW change or OC!

Hi guys, i have three Z77A-GD65 from 2 years with the same hardware config, no overclock or others OC settings ....simply default bios settings;  in this last 2 months, not at the same time, all of my 3 mainboards  have the same identical problem.
One day, from nowhere, without any reason, i start my pc and mobo don't start, hangs with code 55 ( memory error) and Dr mos alarm led goes on, i try to reset bios .. nothing.
I Switch multibios to "B" bios and works perfectly .. i've tested all of RAM modules and result works perfectly !! .... all of three mainboards have the same identical problem!!
Now i use all my 3 PCs with "B" bios and works perfectly, because "A" bios hangs always with code 55 and with Dr. mos alarm led on, i try to update and downgrade "A" bios ... nothing to do ... "A" bios don't work anymore.
    Any idea?

    Don't have to be rude
If same problem is on 3 motherboards then is something wrong with RAM or BIOS not the motherboard
    >>Posting Guide<< Reminding again if you want to receive any help.
Nichrome, you misunderstood! ... I just responded to your affirmation .. that's all, it was not my intention to was "rude" as you wrote! OK?
Ram  modules have been tested on other Asus mainboard  .. .. no read/write errors and no hangs problems ... so all Ram modules are fine
About bios ..... maybe primary bios is physically damaged.... i try to reflash bios also with old version .. no way .. maybe primary bios damage in all 3 mainboards  !! very strange!!! ... you know if there's a know manufacturing defect on this MB bios maybe on a particular MB serial part number? because i bought all 3 mainboards at same time about 2 years ago.
Quote from: Sea Dog on 19-July-14, 02:40:52
Obviously, there is 'something' that has caused BIOS corruption in all 3 mainboards A chips. Whatever that 'something' is, it may happen to the backup B chips as well. Recommend to concentrate on finding this 'something', what the common denominator is, and restoring BIOS chips A before the mainboards may become expensive paperweights. A shop with an SPI flash programmer device can fix the broken BIOS chips if not comfortable with doing the recovery procedure yourself.
Hi, yes i agree,  In fact, my fear is to have, in a while, these mainboard totally unusable!  ..... i think that primary bios is physically damaged or i hope, software damaged, I would try to recover it,  if it's only a software problem (i hope so) ... do you know a procedure to completely erase cleanly that reflash the primary bios? i try to use dos MSI flash utility with "/p /b /n" options .. no success to restore A bios ... same story ... error 55 and DR-mos alarm led on.

  • Creating photo slideshow in imovie without any effects

Hi, When I am trying to make a photo slide-show video in imovie, every photo comes with zoom-in and out effect. I dont like that one. I just want to show photos one after another without any effect. But I couldnt find any option in imovie. Is it possible to make one?
Please give me suggestions. Thanks in advance!
    Jay

Click on the small icon at the top center of any photo in iMovie. You will see the options Fit, Crop, Ken burns, Done. I think you will like the Ken Burns effect after you experiment with it a bit. If you want just plain photos, click Fit and Done.
    Good luck.

The battery percentage indicator needs to be calibrated. For that, you need to drain down the battery way to 3-4% and charge it back to 100% without any interruptions. Let it get charged for 15 min more even if it's showing that it's fully charged and can be disconnected. No hardware problems as such!

  • Labview Instrument: how to set some parameters back to default after restarting the simulation (in Multisim)?

    Hi everyone,
I wrote a Labview Instrument VI that I use later in my simulation in Multisim. The problem is, after stopping the simulation and restarting it again, some important parameters of the VI are not initialized again and therefore all my calculations in the Labview Instrument file are messed up.
Is there any option to set the params back to their default values after the simulation has been restarted?
Has that something to do with Serialize/Deserialize Data in the VI?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Use buffering and psp with datasocket-VIs and without any binding and shared variable node

    Hello,
    I'm using LV 8.5.
I'm trying to develop a multiplatform (windows and mac os x) and multi-computer application. II want to get executables running on each device, communicating through the network. Communication process includes datas (such as images) and events messages (something like "Hello, I got an error" or "youyou, my work is done" or "I'm hereeeee!!!!...."). I do need a communication without any loss of data.
I worked a lot and wanted to test a psp-based design, without any binding nor shared variable node (mac os...) using data socket VIs and SVE buffering.
    I managed to :
    - deploy shared variable library dynamically (even in an executable)
    - communicate between two PCs with datasocket VIs
However, I never managed to enjoy buffering (even locally with one VI doing the deployment and writing datas and another one for reading).
I worked hard (dynamic buffering setting, dynamic buffering watching like in  http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361D-01/lvconcepts/buffering_data/ and in the example "DS send image" and "DS receive image" in the labview examples, trying to use "?sync=true" in the URL, etc...) but no way to get things work.
I attached a jpeg of an example of receiver and sender. I use wait commands in both receiver and sender to test buffering
Receiver do receive datas (the last written) but buffering doesn't work.
Did somebody did that before ? (better than me...)
    Thanks
    Bo

    Hello,
Indeed my problem has been solved. My error : in the While loop of the receiver VI, I always reactualize the PacketsMaxBuffer and OctetsMawBuffer parameters, what resets the buffer and make it appears ineffective.
I now set  the PacketsMaxBuffer and OctetsMawBuffer values only once at the begining of the VI and the psp buffering works perfectly.
    Sorry for the desagreement...

  • Read and write to an USB device without any products from NI

    Hi!
Is there any possibility to read an USB device and write to it without any NI products?
I want to measure temperature with several sensors from Dallas (DS18S20).
    I'm using Labview 8.2.
    Thanks for your help.

Hey, I have never used Dallas sensors but I just used Google and found this which might help you.
Also here you can find some basics of using USB in LabVIEW. But USB communication is always a bit tricky. Have fun

  • For PCI-4451,How to change the frequency of an output signal without any undefined state

I would like to generate a signal using output channels of PCI-4451 and at the same time capture data using the input channels. Is there any method that I can generate a continuous signal without any undefined state when the signal frequency is being changed?
    Attachments:
    Input_Signal.bmp ‏729 KB

    Wee,
DSA boards such as the PCI-4451 have a number of very desirable properties including high precision and a high sampling rate. The trade-off for the combination of these two properties is that the DSA boards cannot adjust their sampling rate on-the-fly. Instead they have to be stopped and reconfigured. During this reconfiguration time, the value of the board's output becomes flat and level.
If you are looking to adjust the board's output without seeing these flat spots, you have to take a different approach to programming a DSA board. Instead of reconfiguring the board, what you need to do is allow the board to continue to run (at the same output frequency), and then overwrite the output buffer that the board reads to output values. This will
allow you to output new data without the flat spots. Below you will find an example that displays this behavior.
If you determine that this is not an acceptable workaround due to the limitations on output rates, you may want to look at using a Multifunction DAQ board (60xx or 62xx) or an arbitrary waveform generator (54xx) device instead.
Best of luck with your application.

  • Sound level variations without any command

    Hello.
When using my iMac 24" 3,06 Ghz, the sound level always varies without any command.
It is very disturbing mostly because it is associated with the display of the sound level on the top of the screen.
    Can you help me?
    :-) Dominique

A little more background. I've now found that I can get my volume back by clicking the Device setting off of CoreAudio, and then selecting CoreAudio again. This lasts awhile then the sound drops out again. Also, I've tried different instruments in the EXPS 24, different Instrument/MIDI channels and still get the dropout prob. Even deleted the audio object in the environment and started over with a new one. All the other instruments in the track list are EXPS 24 and not affected

  • New LabVIEW Instrument -Nugget

How to add "New LabVIEW Instrument" to the windows "New" context menu.  This is something I have meaning to try for a while, and I am sure I will find useful where very long paths are involved.  I thought I would share the process with you, even though its not really a LabVIEW thing.
Here is what I want to see in the NEW menu when i right click in a folder::
And here's how to do it.  First, be careful in the registry!
Use the registry editor and browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.VI
Add a new key called ShellNew
Create a string value "FileName" in this new key.  Give in a value of LabVIEWInst.vi.  This VI is the template that windows will use to create the new vi.
Close the registry editor when it looks like this:
Now create a new, blank VI and call it LabVIEWInst.vi
Save it in the folder Windows\ShellNew.  (I had to save it to the desktop first, then move it to the ShellNew folder as Win7 had issues saving to the Windows folder.)
    All Done!
Now log off and back on to refresh the ShellNew list.
I Hope this is of use to somebody.
    Michael.
