Labview PDA support USB?

Does the LabVIEW 8.0 PDA support USB communication?

optomesures,
I have seen a regional option have this effect before.  I would check to see if you are using a period or a comma for the decimal point.  You might want to try following the steps in this KB to see if that helps.  If not then I might suggest checking out the Calling External Code in LabVIEW PDA KB as well.  One last thing to try would be to see if the code works on the Windows machine.  The DLL would have some problems, but make sure it is has at least a basic functionality.
Hope this helps!

  • LABVIEW PDA/DAQmx Base error

    I'm building a VI for a PDA (pocketPC 2003)
In a Functions Panel, when I'm going in a menu "Measurement I/O" => "DAQmx Base", it misses many icons. I have installed and uninstalled three time DaqmxBase 2.2 with the same result (icon.jpg). I have installed Daqmx Base 3.0 and the problem is always there. Moreover, when I'm going in menu "Select VI" in a Functions Panels, I can open anothers Daqmx Base VI, but there is many errors (error.jpg).

    Hi,
LabVIEW PDA support for DAQ is limited.  The number of DAQ VI's available on LabVIEW PDA is also limited.
I could not clearly view your error list but I did run across a possibly useful Knowledge Base article. I am also including the Known Issues with LabVIEW PDA 8.2.1 . I hope this helps!

  • Labview PDa 8.0.1 can support visa

hi all , can u plz tell me Labview pda 8.0.1 can support modbus serial communication

Unfortunately, you cannot do modbus serial communication with LabVIEW PDA 8.0.1. In oder to do Modbus communication you would need the Modbus Library, but that requires NI-VISA and NI-VISA is not supported in LabVIEW PDA until version 8.2. Aside from this, you can do regural serial communication with PDA 8.0.1 using the Serial Compatibility VI's.

  • Accessing mySQL database from Labview PDA

    Hi,
Has anyone tried writing data to a mySQL database or any other database for that matter using the Labview PDA module?  I know it's easy to do from Labview and you have to download the ODBC drivers to get it working but I don't think these drivers are available for Windows Mobile (I've seen XP and Linux drivers only).  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I don't have experience with this, but you might look into the following:
    1. remote connections: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2656
    2. this thread seems to indicate .NET doesn't support it yet (but it's over a year old...): http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?38,73109,73109
    3. Another option - you can use VI Server to have your PDA VI call a VI on your host machine if they are networked... there is an example of this that ships with LabVIEW PDA I think - check it out!  Thus, if the db is on your host machine, you could write your host VI, and have your PDA VI call it etc.
    I hope this helps!

  • Queries about LabVIEW PDA

I have a problem with displaying measurment file on the waveform graph in the PDA. I understand that PDA have some function constraints and does not support "Read from measurment file"function. Is there any way to convert the measurment file to a file which the PDA waveform graph able tom display the result or should i replace the "write to measurment file" function to other function e.g write to spreadsheet? How do I include the header, time and date in a spreadsheet heading?

It would probably be best to originally write your data in a tab-delimited format (including labels, time stamps, etc). Then, you can program the Read from Text File function in LabVIEW PDA to mimic the behavior of the Read from Spreadsheet File VI in LabVIEW.
Once you place the Open/Create/Replace File and Read from Text File VIs on your block diagram, you can write click on the Read from Text File VI and select the Read Lines option. Next, scan through each line for tab characters using the Scan String for Tokens VI, and finally build up a 2D array of all elements in your text file. This may sound a bit confusing, so I have attached a small example VI to this post below (PDAReadFromTextFile.vi). Don't forget to use the Close File VI when you are done reading from disk.
Keep in mind that PDAs do not support array indicators, so you must view any front panel data as individual strings (or one large concatenated string). The Index Array function on the Array palette should come in handy here.
    I hope this helps!

  • LabVIEW PDA customize boolean control with picture

For a PDA application, I'm looking for a way to customize a boolean indicator. To do this I went in the customize option of the boolean and then import picture for the false and true state. in programming mode I see the correct picture for the different states but when I download this application on my PDA (TPC-2006 with winCE) in only see a blank picture on the boolean. Is this a limitation of the LabVIEW PDA or is there another way to do this ?  (see example in attachement)
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey Poussin,
You bumped into a boundry of LabVIEW PDA. LabVIEW PDA did not support custom controls at all uptil very recently. Only since LV PDA 7.1 there are a few features which are possible like coloring and resizing, see the link below.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/08DD9CAACA1F64F586256E920061E4CD?OpenDocument
Using pictures however is not possible. The control will have its functionality on the PDA but it will not show its decoration.

  • Labview PDA using RS232

Many new PDAs have USB cradles only. Can someone recommend a good configuration (PDA, OS and any options) that worked for Labview PDA to control instrument through RS232?

I don't have a lot of experience with various PDA models but I'm using a Palm OS Tungsten T5 to do serial communication. I did have to buy a cable that converts the TTL level RS232 to as "true" RS232 level. Once I got that it worked rather well. As far as I know most Palm PDAs have RS232 coming out of there sync connector. You just have to do some digging or call the manufacturer to get the right info.

  • "LabVIEW PDA - Palm OS Hardware?"

I'd like to get some feedback on what Palm OS PDA's are being used in conjunction with the LabVIEW PDA software. I've been tasked with creating a very compact application for monitoring a system, and we're interested in doing this through a Palm PDA (I chose Palm simply because I used to write Palm applications a few years ago, and I'm pretty familiar with their system). We have a DAQCard-6062E that is used in a laptop at the moment, but for this application, that's just overkill. I'd like any input from users on the following:
    1. What type of Palm PDA (model number) are you using with the LabVIEW PDA software?
    2. What type of cradle (model number, etc.) that goes with the Palm PDA for a PCMCIA card? Also, where can you get this cradle?
    3. Interface cable preferences? (length, type, etc.)
    Thanks for your input,
    tsc

    Hello –
Palm M-series or Tungsten supports a DAQ device. CEC sells these DAQ devices with a sleeve and you just have to put the Palm device on it. Also, they will provide you with a driver that will allow you to communicate with LabVIEW PDA for Palm.
Go to this link. Click on Data Acquisition, then on pdaDAQ/100.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error message when building an application for Labview PDA

When using LabView PDA module to build an application for a PDA target, I receive the following message: "Error building executable. Unable to create file". Why is this happening?
When looking at the error log, it reads "The system cannot find the file specified."
This happens even when looking at one of the Labview PDA example VI's, so it is not a result of the VI containing functions of features not supported by Labview PDA.
When installing Labview PDA, I installed files as follows, and in this order:
    (i) Labview 7.1 (installed previously)
(ii) Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0
(iii) Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 SP 3.0
(iv) Microsoft SDK for Windows Mobile 2003-based Pocket PCs
    (v) Microsoft ActiveSync 3.8
(vi) NI Labview 7.1 PDA module for PocketPC
(vii) DAQmx Base 1.0 for PDA or later
    Any ideas?

Did you attempt to add the _wordsub.llb and _excelsub.llb files to the application as support files?  I believe in LabVIEW 8.0 instead of adding the entire LLBs you should just add the _Word Dynamic VIs.vi and _Excel Dynamic VIs.vi as dynamic VIs.  I think I've seen a similar post on the discussion forums in the past that recommended this.
If this suggestion doesn't help, please reply, and attach a simple VI and .lvproj file demonstrating the problem so I can investigate further.

  • Command line arguments with a Labview pda application

    Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of writing some Labview code to run on a PDA that is called from another vendor's software. When called, I need to pass some information to it (in the form of an integer) and then return an error code when it has finished its task (again, as an integer).
Not being able to compile a my application as a labview dll for to run on a PDA with Windows Mobile 2003, I was hoping to be able to pass command line arguments to my program when compiled as an executable. This doesn't seem to be possible.
Could someone please confirm that Labview PDA applications do not support command line arguments?
Any suggestions on how to meet my objective would be most welcome .
    Regards,
    Mark

    Paolo,
Thanks for your input: storing this information in a text file is a choice we are looking at. But it does leave us with the problem that the vendor's software will not necessarily know when our program has finished running, unless it continuously polls the file to see if there has been any update.
A dll would be ideal. I was hoping there might be a clever way of emulating this.
    Regards,
    Mark.

  • Tab Control Property Node gives a build error when used in a VI for LabVIEW PDA

    Hello,
Iam new to LabVIEW development & need help regarding this:
We are trying to port a LabVIEW application from desktop to a Windows Mobile PDA. Please note that the LabVIEW application works fine on the desktop. In one of the VIs, a Tab control property node is used which gives a build error with LabVIEW PDA project. A sample VI which shows the problem & the error list snapshot is attached with this post. Can anyone please suggest an alternate approach to achieve the same functionality with LabVIEW PDA? Waiting for an early response from anyone...
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello Ton,
Am glad that i got a response, thanks. The following links indicate that Tab control is supported on PDA target:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/CBA335641E27B858862571490015EA88?OpenDocument

I feel that the Tab control property node that has been used in the VI (which is attached earlier) may not be supported on the PDA target. Can u (or any LabVIEW expert) suggest an alternate approach to achieve the same goal with LabVIEW PDA (changing colour of Tab control pages programatically)??
I had missed out some details earlier: We are using LabVIEW 8.5 PDA module on a Windows Mobile PDA.

  • Does SignalExpress support USB-9211/15 & USB-6015/16 ?

    Does SignalExpress support USB-9211/15 & USB-6015/16 ?

    Hi gsa,
Here is a list of hardware which is supported:
    - NI M Series and E Series DAQ (DAQmx only)
    - NI High-Speed Digitizers
    - NI Signal Generators
    - NI Dynamic Signal Acquisition (DSA)
    - NI Analog Output
    - Third-party devices (*Requires downloading or creating a LabVIEW based user-defined step)
You see, that you must program a LV based user-defined step in SignalExpress if you want to use the USB boards.

  • PDA Host USB (Solar Express CF Card)

Am not sure of interest.  But I've tried the new Solar Express Compact Flash USB host card (currently in an IPAQ 210 PDA, running WinMobile 6).
This worked like a charm with LabView PDA DAQbase sample code and the NI USB-6009.
I really bought this for use in a non-hosting USB-PDA, and will try in a Axim X50v.
For the record the IPAQ 210 has USB Host functionality built-in, but initially proper cables were not available, these are now currently available and the USB-6009 does work with them.  Unfortuneately, I could only get to work if the cables route thru a mini-USB hub first.  This is not necessary with the CF card.
In both the CF and the IPAQ native USB hosting mode, no additional power is needed to run the 6009, though I've yet to check battery consumption.  The Solar Express card comes with a USB cable Y-joint which allows feeding additional power to the accessory on USB.  The CF card itself, I believe, is limited to 200 mA draw.
See below links for the Solar Express product.
    http://www.twin-paradox.com/SEPDA.html
    http://www.lightconecorp.net/blog/
I think this works well for the $85 price.  And appears to work with many older PDAs, which is good for hobbyists, and those like me, with old unused ones lying around.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I bought the Solar Express card, but am having some problems getting data.  I notice you are using a 6009, and I am using a 6008.  The 6008 is not specifically listed in the table here, so I wonder if it can be used.  I have everything set up as per the dynamic example in the same link, but when I run my program on the PDA and set the Physical Channels contol to my task I get the following error: "Value passed to the Task/Channel In control is invalid.  Error code: -200428".  I unsuccessfully searched for the error code.  I am just trying to read some AI, nothing fancy.  I have set up the task in the NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility, but it seems like it is having a problem with that.  Also, I have the code inside an Event structure, but I can't see why that would make a difference.  Attached is my code.  Are you doing anything differently (other than using the 6009)?

  • Labview PDA toolkit activation code

    Hello,
I'm trying to activate the licence for the labview pda (for palm) toolkit.
In spite of the S/N is correct, i can t get an activation code. I get a
Developper Suite licence. I called NI support, even with my computer ID and
my S/N, they didn't managed to give me a valid activation code (eventhough
they checked the SN is a valid Developper Suite one).
The NI licence manager always tell me my SN is not the one for the product i
    try to activate.
    Any ideas?
    Thx.
    Olivier

I don't think any of the Developer Suites come with the PDA module. So the serial number for your Developer Suite will not work with the PDA module to activate it.
You should have received a separate serial number with the PDA module when you purchased it. That is the only one that will work to activate it.

  • Labview with advantech usb 4716??

hi. I have a problem related to labview and advantech usb 4716.
for my project, I have to develop a charge discharge cycle. I'm using Labview 2011 and the program is finished. But when I try to connect with ADVANTECH usb-4716, nothing happen. So, I want to ask,
    1. How to interface the labview 2011 with advantech usb 4716???
    2. How to make labview recognize my usb everytime I plug in the usb???
    3. Is it possible to use labview 2011 function with advantech usb 4716 because it don't know how to use advantech DAQ function???

    Hi Nicholas,
I found the drivers in those links.
First of all the customer must install our Device manager ( DAQ Tool ) and Driver
    http://support.advantech.com.tw/support/DownloadSRDetail.aspx?SR_ID=1-246K8V
That's he needs to do always before using our devices.
For LabVIEW he also needs to install in addition the LabVIEW driver
    http://support.advantech.com.tw/support/DownloadSRDetail.aspx?SR_ID=1-29WTFD
It is the LabVIEW or LabVIEW DAQ , it depends on customer LabVIEW software that he is using
After installation he will get in LabVIEW ready made VI ( examples ) to use from Advantech and also the Manual
