Labview project functions differently when compiled

I have a medium sized labview project that is causing me trouble.  It will work properly when I run in development mode, and it will compile with no problems, but when I run the executable it no longer functions the same.  It seems that large portions of the code just don't run.  I have made sure that all VIs are included in the build.  I have no way to debug it in application mode, so how am I supposed to fix this problem?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm running Labveiw 8.5.  Thanks,
-d

Hi dhowland,
what does refuse to talk mean? Is there no error message when the communication fails?
Do you work with automatic error handling? This does not work in an executable. Program the error handling yourself.

  • Flex 3 Dashboard Displays Differently when Compiled Locally

I am writing an Adobe Flex Developers Center article on converting the Flex Dashboard example application to Flex 4.
    http://examples.adobe.com/flex3/devnet/dashboard/main.html
The problem is the application renders differently when you right-click that application, download the zip source file, and compile it locally in Flex Builder 3 (see screenshot below).
Could a few of you please visit the above URL, download the code, import the project, then launch the app and tell me what you see?
After importing you will need to create an empty libs folder and right click another error message to recreate the html templates.
    Thanks very much!

  • Project run smooth when compiled but run slow in flash player

    Hey guys,
I have an interactive clip i made for a band.
The clip is compound of mini games and videos.
When I compile the project is FlashDevelop - everything runs smooth and nice at 24 fps.
When I run the swf through the flash player (10.1 r52) the clips runs very slow (1-5 fps).
Does anyone encountered anything like this?
    Thanks
    Eldad

    1.  update your flash player
    2.  make sure you have no trace statements in your swf
    3.  make sure there are no debug options selected when you publish your swf.

    Hi,
From the error it seems that the code is refering ReqLinesNotificationsVOExRowImpl file.
Please make sure that its class file is present in myclasses folder.
Since u have mentioned that ReqLinesNotificationsVORowImpl is already placed in myclasses folder. Hope this should resolve your issue.

  • Error when compiling orchestration project

This is driving me nuts and I hope someone can help. I have a orchestration project and one of the orchestration uses request-response direct bound ports. Message sent to this port will be transformed to a wcf request on a send-receive port configured in
the biztalk application. In the orchestration request-response port I am trying to catch faults so right clicked the operation and clicked "New Fault Message". This new fault is of the type "BTS.soap_envelope_1__1.Fault"
Now when I compile the project, I am getting compile error
Error 522 The type or namespace name 'soap_envelope_1__1' does not exist in the namespace 'MyNameSpace' (are you missing an assembly reference?) [Orchestration project path]\obj\Debug\BizTalk\XLang\File0.cs
I have verified that the project contains a reference to Microsoft.BizTalk.GlobalPropertySchemas dll
    I would appreciate any help.

    Hi,
This is what I originally thought, namespace issue. Now that I think of it, it might not even need to be just the last bit of the namespace to make problem. I unfortunately don't really have to time now to demonstrate it or investigate it further
    but it is very possible.
Anyhow, for your problem at hand, I am afraid that you will be left with no choice but to change your namespace. I have never been able to work around it.
I learned this the hard way as well and since then I am always careful when choosing my namespace. I avoid any reserved words. Also when using .Net libraries in your BizTalk project, never give your class the same name as part of your namespace.
Moreover, for schema namespace, I would avoid anything listed here:
For now that is all I can advise you. If someone else has a work around or proper explanation I would be glad to hear about it as well.
    Good luck!

  • Generation of a glossary of functions used in a Labview project

    Hello
I am writing a report which must include screen shots of every VI and sub VI in a labview project that i have created. I am looking for a way to generate a glossary of functions that were used in the project. I need this so people who are not familar with Labview can understand my code.
    It this possible?
    Thank you

Lynn's suggestion will not be able to go as far as giving you the documentation for Build Array, for example. Don't really know of a way to do that. Might be able to do that with scripting, but that's another story.
    <START PERSONAL COMMENT>
Speaking on a personal level, if someone gave me documentation that included all of that gory detail I would think they're just trying to "fluff up" the documentation. I see little point in documenting something that has already been documented quite extensively by NI, like I said. You can list the functions, but that's of little use since it doesn't document how you used them, now does it?
On a side-note, I think Build Array is quite self-explanatory, even if you don't know LabVIEW. And if you don't understand the basic terms "build" and "array", then you have no business reading the documentation or criticizing it in the first place. But that's just my opinion.

  • Why does RoboHelp 8 crash when compiling merged HTML help after deleting a child project in TOC

Why does RoboHelp 8 crash when compiling merged HTML help after deleting a child project in TOC? I would be grateful for any assistance.
    Here's the situation:
-- I recently upgraded from RoboHelp X5 to RoboHelp 8. I upgraded my projects to RoboHelp 8 projects.
-- One large help system I manage is built such that there is one master project and about 25 child projects. Each of these is its own item in the master project TOC.
-- In RoboHelp X5 I never had any trouble deleting these.
-- However now in RoboHelp 8, whenever I delete one (by opening TOC pod, right-clicking on item in question, and clicking Delete), and proceed to "Generate Primary Layout" (MS HTML Help), the generation/compilation process proceeds as far as "Generating full-text search data" and then the whole program crashes!
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the software? I have installed patches 8.0.1 and 8.0.2.
Once again, I thank you in advance for any pointers.

  • How can I copy tasks from Automation Measurement & Explorer to a LabView Project

I have a labview project which currently relies on tasks that are predefined in the Measurement and Automation Explorer. I haven't been able to figure out how to export them out of the Measurement and Automation Explorer to be imported into Labview. Can this be done?

Well, let me try to explain something, which can be really questionable
Hence both methods use the same API, the DAQmx API, they have different "implementations". The LV API consist of LV VIs, of course, in the first instance. Of course, digging deep into them, you will encouder CLFNs to the DAQmx DLLs. But some of them are "hidden" because property nodes are in fact something similar to the DLL-calls......
In MAX, you never "see" the API, you are using the wizard. Nevertheless, MAX uses the internal functions contained within the wizard to use the device just as desired (hopefully ) But it never will use the VIs to accomplish that...
Now there are imho two possibilities for you:
    a) You start using the LV DAQ Assistent to create your tasks on the PC. It has the same appearence as the wizard in MAX, so you will not trade any used interface for a new one (which would be the API). When you finished the definition, the wizard can be transferred to LV code which can be altered. But if doing this, you will lose the possibility to alter the task using the "used API", the wizard.
    b) You can live with the current situation but create a product suggestion for LV and DAQ at the Product Suggestion Center.
    hope this helps,

  • SIT Issues - Undefined Functions and non-compilation

    Dear All,
FIrst off hi! Am new to LabVIEW, SIT and the forums. I currently have an issue with SIT 4.0 that I hope you can help me with.
    Background:
We are trying to move a Simulink model off of a Windows environment into a cRIO-9004. This will run the simulation on startup and will get its data and will pass its data via UDP links (2 x Transmits, 2 x Receives). The system will not have a host VI, it is to run stand-alone in that respect.
Currently we have a model working fine in Simulink. It communicates both locally and over the network using custom UDP blocks that we wrote in C (and so have src for).
    Issues:
Currently when we try to build a DLL from ANY model (even a simple output of a constant) the model will autocode into C and a DLL will build but when importing it into LabVIEW we are told that there are functions defined in the DLL that are not defined in the header (it lists a standard 21 functions [i.e. NISIT_<fn name>] ). The header seems to define a different 4 (or 5 - currently not to hand apologies) <Model name>_<fn name>. These are soemthing like Initialize, Update, Output, Terminate.
So I cannot currently import. The 21 functions seem overkill to manually define in the header but am I wrong? Why is the SIT not writing the header correctly. This issue relates to a model without our UDP blocks, the UDP functionality would be added around the DLL in LabVIEW using standard LabVIEW function blocks.
In addition, rather than directly importing the DLL we considered directly deploying a DLL with the UDP functions embedded in it. However, when using RTW in Simulink it autocodes to C fine, but upon compilation into a DLL is raises issues (in true MATLAB style, typically vague and non-helpful). Any ideas?
Many thanks for any of your time,
    Rich
    Additional Info:
    LabVIEW 8.5 (with Real-Time Module)
    MATLAB 2007a
    MS VC++ 6.0
The engineer who wrote the custom UDP blocks suggests that it might be an issue with using WinSock in his blocks
    Any other info please ask

    Adnan,
Thank you for looking into this and I must apologise, my original post wasn't all that clear with hindsight. So I will answer you questions and try to be clearer on the situation:
There are two situations and issues here.
    1) Any simlpe model (i.e. constant -> output, or say pulse_gen -> transfer_fn -> output) will happily compile and link to a DLL using you nidll.tlc and the makefile etc that it produces. When importing the DLL (just standard import, not using SIT Connection Manager) I get an error, however:
    2) When exporting a DLL (like above) it will load fine onto the target when using SIT Connection Manager, no errors like above.  We thought of using this method to do everything in Simulink and use the SIT connection manager as above to load it all. The issue we were having with this is that the UDP blocks that were custom written would not compile when using nidll.tlc and the makefile etc. It will run fine as an s-function in Simulink. The engineer who wrote the blocks thinks it might be that your makefile would not like the UDP blocks as they use Winsock and he assumes that the makefile will raise an error as winsock will not be in the LabVIEW environment.
So to fully answer your questions:
    1) What are the exact codes?
When examining the error in Situation 1 that's exactly what I get. Interestingly if I include all the header it lists on the right hand side (clearer in the following screen print) then LabVIEW hangs when adding parsing the "simstruc" headers: (N.B. if you are looking at the addresses of these images then ignore the name of this one!)
The other error I'm getting with regards to the UDP blocks manifests as follows (ignore Paint in the background showing the Config Screen):
    2) Does the error occur for any model or just yours?
The errors surrounding the missing functions concerns any model when importing (SIT Connection Manager seems not to mind). The error when compiling/linking the DLL surrounds just our model due to the UDP blocks
    3) Are the 21 undefined functions created by you or purely by the Simulink compiler?
We haven't touched any of the files after they are thrown out of the compiler. The 21 or so functions it lists all begin NIRT_<FnName> (N.B. I previously posted wrongly stating NISIT_<FnName>. NIRT_ is correct) so I assume that's the compiler. The ones defined in the header (the 4) all start <ModelName>_<FnName>
The functions I assume I want (copied from the produced header file - I have not edited it. RWFJMildModel is the name of the Model file. There are no instances of the letters NIRT):
/* Model entry point functions */
    extern void RWFJMildModel_initialize(boolean_T firstTime);
    extern void RWFJMildModel_output(int_T tid);
    extern void RWFJMildModel_update(int_T tid);
    extern void RWFJMildModel_terminate(void);
The ones LabVIEW finds in the DLL (due to the DLL_EXPORT I imagine) and not the header can be seen in previous screen prints.
    4) Are you using nidll.tlc as your System Target File?
Yes all instructions provided online, in the SIT 4 help etc are followed and this includes using nidll.tlc:
    5) If the model you are trying to build does not use your custom UDP blocks, then why do you believe the issue is related to using WinSock in those blocks?
The model we plan on using eventually currently includes the UDP blocks, although if we cannot import them we will wrap the UDP functionality around the "rest of the model DLL" in LabVIEW provided we get that working. The other models are simple (as in thrown together in less than 30 secs) and I have no reason to believe this, I think this confusion was caused by my terrible first post, apologies.
Thank you for you help, it is much appreciated
    Rich
P.S. My company blocks imagehosting sites so I cannot confirm if the screen prints are in place, in the right order etc. They should however all be there!

  • QUIT LabVIEW.vi works differently in LC8.2

RE: "QUIT LabVIEW" vi behaves differently in 8.2.  Using (essentially) identical application (*.exe) executes a "QUIT LabVIEW" vi  function, LV 7.x and 8.0 built code behaves as expected, that is:  LabVIEW is completely exited including any and all Front Panels.  The application and all remnenats of all VIs disappear from the desktop.   .....With 8.2, the built application "stops" and the front panel of the top VI remains on the desktop.
Did something change in 8.2?  What am I missing?

    All,
Thanks for the quick replies. I have three apps that exit normally, and one that does not. Coincidentally, the largest one is the one that doesn't exit normally. I have tried wiring a "true" boolean to it with no change. I have also tried having the first control executed by the app be the "Quit" vi, and it also only Stopped the app. I wire a App.Kind node to a case structure to "Stop" when in devel, and "Quit" all else. There is one other bit of functionality in the default case that is executing, so i know it is executing the correct order, but i have yet to isolate what the difference is between the apps that quit normally and the one app that doesn't. All options under VI Properties are identical (minus name) to the apps that work as advertised. Last night i used a conditional disable loop and commented EVERYTHING except the init and exit code, and it quit normally, so that is where i am looking next...
I have not looked specifically at the documentation, but the only change initially between 8.0.1 and 8.2 was a mass compile from the main splash screen. The same code worked in 8.0.1 in a production environment.

  • Error message when compiling invalid packages and procedures

    Hi.
I have a routine for copying certain data from a production database to a test database. To do this I disable constraints and triggers, truncate tables, copy tables and enable triggers and constraints again.
Now several of my functions, procedures and packages are made invalid and marked with a red cross. In SQL Developer I can compile invalid functions, procedures and packages. When I compile functions it works fine, but when compiling procedures and packages I get the following error message:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
    ORA-00904: "ATTRIBUTE": Invalid identifier
    Vendor code 904
When I click OK on this message I get a confirmation saying:
Packages have been compiled with #0.CNT# errors.
I had this error in both the previous and the new version. Is this a bug or is there a way to come around it? When I copy and modify the SQL generated to perform this task and run it in SQL Plus it works fine.
I use Windows 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4, SQL Developer version 1.2.1, Oracle 9.2.0.8.0 and Java version 1.5.0_11

i have now upgraded to Java 1.6 update 2. I still get basically the same error, but it is presented a little bit differently:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
    ORA-00904: "ATTRIBUTE": invalid identifier
    00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
    *Cause:
    *Action:
    Vendor code 904
Are there other possible error causes than the operating system version and the database version?
We are going to install an Oracle 10 test database in a couple of weeks, so then I will find out whether the database version is the problem.

  • Is there a limit on the length of the path when compiling HTML Help?

I"ve been pulling my hair out the last few days because I have a project that has been compiling just fine but when I created a branch in RoboSource and checked it out and tried to compile I get an Unexpected Microsoft HTML Compiler error. I've looked and looked to find what might be different. Today when reading posts, (thank you to everyone who posts problems and solutions here) I ran across something regarding referencing a file that is too deep in the tree. That made me think about the directory names. So, I changed the compile location to a higher place in the tree and it compiled.
Does anyone know if there is a limit on the path to where the .chm file is built and if so, what that limit is?
    Thanks,
    Nita

    Hi Nita.
I'm not sure anyone has definitely found a limit although as you have found long paths can be an issue. I'd guess it is 255 characters as this figure pops up elsewhere. As a general rule I try and keep my project paths as short as possible, even abbreviating directory names where possible.

  • Connection Reset when compiling PL/SQL Package

Recently a strange issue appeared on my office PC. When I try To compile a PL/SQL package on specific Oracle instance I get an error message:
Error: Io exception: Connection reset by peer: socket write error
And the connection is reset. I even cannot reconnect to database schema. To open connection again I have to restart SQL Developer. In spite of this issue I can execute SELECT queries in SQL worksheet and view data in tables. Error message appears only when compiling packages in any schema on database instance in our local network and only on my PC. Other office PCs works fine without any errors. I am able to compile packages on remote database from my PC.
Same error message shows up in different SQL Developer versions and also in JDeveloper. SQL Developer restart, Windows restart, database instance restart doesn't help.

    You would do something like
    select ...
    sum( decode (MONTHS_BETWEEN(SYSDATE, D.P_DOB)/12 >
    40 AND MONTHS_BETWEEN(SYSDATE, D.P_DOB)/12 <85 AND
    B.B_CODE IN ('11.1','222.2','272.4') 1,0 )

  • Are Sql functions different from user defined functions ?

    Hello,
SQL functions are built into Oracle Database and are available for use in various appropriate SQL statements. Do not >confuse SQL functions with user-defined functions written in PL/SQL.according to first paragraph of this document Sql functions are different from user defined functions . How is that ?
Is they really differ from each other ?

If you don't know what compilation is, please use Wikipedia or other online resources.I know what is compilation . But i was confused whether those sql functions are compiled in my machine when i install Oracle Database in my machine or they are pre-compiled .
As you said these Sql functions are pre-compiled , it is clear now that they are pre-compiled platform dependent code .
Can you provide actual source code of any SQL function , say SUM function .
I want to see it, how they have defined . Eagerly waiting for any reply. please help .
Edited by: bootstrap on Aug 19, 2011 11:50 AMYou can ask oracle if they give you their code. I doubt they will. However if you want to write you own user-defined aggregation function, there are examples in the documentation how to do that.
