Flex 3 Dashboard Displays Differently when Compiled Locally

I am writing an Adobe Flex Developers Center article on converting the Flex Dashboard example application to Flex 4.

The problem is the application renders differently when you right-click that application, download the zip source file, and compile it locally in Flex Builder 3 (see screenshot below).
Could a few of you please visit the above URL, download the code, import the project, then launch the app and tell me what you see?
After importing you will need to create an empty libs folder and right click another error message to recreate the html templates.

Flex app behaves differently when Adobe automation files loaded

We have an application built with Flex 3.1. I am attempting to create QTP tests for this application. The instrumentation files are loaded at run time, not compiled into the application.
I am using QTP 9.5 with the Adobe Flex Add-in 3.0. I am able to see the controls an run tests to some extent.
The main issue I am trying to resolve is that there is a difference in behavior of the application when it is started with the instrumentation files. The differences occur both inside and outside of the QTP environment.
The observed differences are:
The initial page is a login screen. After entering the id and password, I can click ‘Enter’ or click the “Log in” command button. With the instrumentation files loaded, the ‘Enter’ key no longer works.
When I log out of the application, a progress screen displays while the environment clean-up occurs. When the progress bar hits 100%, the original login screen is displayed. With instrumentation files loaded, activity stops when the progress bar hits 100% and the original login screen is never displayed.
After logging in, a window with perspective tabs displays. Each perspective tab page contains a window containing a list of resource associated with the perspective. When instrumentation files are loaded, the tab pages exist, but the perspective windows are not created.
I realize I am dealing with application-specific behavior here and I am pursuing this with our developers. What I am looking for is any information related to differences in application behavior when instrumentation files are loaded.

I can't seem to reproduce what you are seeing with this sample application:

Labview project functions differently when compiled

I have a medium sized labview project that is causing me trouble. It will work properly when I run in development mode, and it will compile with no problems, but when I run the executable it no longer functions the same. It seems that large portions of the code just don't run. I have made sure that all VIs are included in the build. I have no way to debug it in application mode, so how am I supposed to fix this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm running Labveiw 8.5. Thanks,

what does refuse to talk mean? Is there no error message when the communication fails?
Do you work with automatic error handling? This does not work in an executable. Program the error handling yourself.

Advance amount display differently when used in program (HRTRV_IF_GET_TRIP)

When i test the function module HRTRV_IF_GET_TRIP to retrive the ADVANCE AMOUNT for TRIP transaction it giives me correct out put of table ADVANCE AMOUNTS. If i use the same function module inside the program but it gives advanca amount value multiplid by 100. (ex.10 HUF is displayed as 1000 HUF). It is also varying depends on the PERNR i am creating the TRIP. IF i use my personal number i get correc values populated in the FM. IF i use other PERNR to create the TRIP then it given me some other values.
Please clarify.

Photos in contacts display differently when incoming call

G'day people
Most of my contacts in the Address Book have photos and, of course, they imported together with other contact details when I plugged my iPhone into my iMac. However, what's strange is that some photos display full screen when that contact calls me and other photos just display a small picture next to the contact's name. Anybody have any idea why?
I notice that if I take a photo on the iPhone and assign it to a contact, that photo will always display full screen.

Yes, that's what I thought as well. However, there are pictures that I assigned to contact on the computer that display full screen when that contact calls as well as full screen for those contacts where I took the and assigned the photos on the iPhone itself.

Contacts ID displaying differently when receiving voice calls and sms

Dear BB Support Community,
I have an issue with my Classic device that has been quite frustrating (I am very new to BB). When I receive a phone call from one of my contacts, I can see who is calling. But when the same person sends a text message, only their phone shows up. The device is not connecting that number with the existing contact name.
One of the causes of the problem is that my carrier, for some reason, decided to use the number of the caller without the country code when the person is making a phone call (something like 0xxxyyyyy). But when the same person is sending a text, the carrier adds the country code to that number (+ccxxxyyyyyy).
What is frustrating is that all other android and nokia phones I have used previously had no problems with this difference on the carrier's use of area/country codes. But BB10 seems not able to connect these two numbers.
Can anyone help me?

Open the phone app. swipe down from the top and go to Settings. Then go to Smart Dialing. Make sure the proper country and area code info is stored in there.

Background image displays differently when published

I am using Captivate 5. I did a software simulation and in Captivate the background image is correct (the one on the left) but when i preview it or publish it and view in the browser the colors are off (second image) ..I tried to play around with the brightness/sharpness but it did nothing dramatic...any suggestions?

Generally speaking, Optimized ofen works well too. I'm unsure of the file size differences (if any) between the two settings. Because the image quality improves it would be logical to assume that the file size will increase.

Imported swfs display different every time

Hello -
I have tried importing swfs, and each time it displays different when published. The first time, it resized and could be seen completely within the window. The second time, it did not resize so only the top left of the image could be seen. The third, time it sort of resized, but is still cut off on the bottom. I inserted the same swf file the same way each time, so I'm not sure what affects the way it displays when published. I'm using the trial version of Presenter version 7.0.7 Build 7746. The swfs were created in Captivate 5.0, and I'm using Office/PowerPoint 2010. Below are examples of what each looks like after the publish. Does anyone know how I can control how the swf will display once published?

I think it has to do with resizing the swf once it is imported. I resized it first by widening it so it went the entire width of the page - the second time I believe I did the same thing and got the larger image. Then I tried various ways of resizing and also not moving or resizing at all, and got these different results. It is not consistent, the same way of resizing did not result in the same output. Is it not possible to resize the imported swf - for example, resize so it takes up the entire slide? Below is a link to download the swf I'm using.

Effects displaying differently in new document

I just followed an online tutorial on creating a gel effect for type. The effects have been saved as a new style and the style can be applied with no problem to objects within the same document.
I discovered however that when I create a new file (same size, resolution and RGB color mode) the style displays differently when applied.
Even if I copy the original layer into a new document, the appearance is different. I have a workaround which is to duplicate the original image, apply the affects to new layers within the duplicated image and delete the unwanted layers. But I'm curious to know why this is happening - I assume it is a beginner's error.

Thank you, using your tip I found the "culprit". There were two settings in the Bevel and Emboss effect that didn't carry over to the new document, and those were the Shading Angle and the Shading Altitude settings. Adjusting those fixed the problem. All the other settings carried over perfectly, so the behavior was not consistent.

Flex Project ; Compile Locally

When I set up a Flex project in Flex Buiilder 2 , and select
Flex Data Services, Compile Application locally in Flex Builder ,
then select root folder, root URL and context root, the application
fails to compile locally . I get an error in the problems section
stating , "Unexpected attribute 'url' found in 'endpoint' from
file: services-config.xml" . I am using LiveCycle Data Services ES.
Anyone having the same issue ? My co-worker was able to do a
similar set-up successfully using FDS2 , so I'm wondering if there
is an issue with LCDS ?

I was able to resolve my same error by updating the Flex SDK
2. I found some information to do this here:

I followed the directions posted on 03/29/2007 by
"nodogbite".
After updating the Flex SDK, I removed my projects from the
workspace & the J2EE DIR and rebuilt them from the source path.
After doing this I no longer got the "Unexpected attribute 'url'
found in 'endpoint' from file: services-config.xml" when I
recompiled.

SWFloader loads SWF movie within Flex but not when compiled

When I run my app in Flex, SWFLoader loads the SWF okay as a movie clip but as soon as I Export/Release Build, the new app SWF that is generated won't show the movie clip anymore. If I take another SWF that is an app (not a movie clip) and give it the movie swf name, my compiled app will show the sub app in a frame. Why would running something within Flex be any different than running a compiled version?
Here is some of the code:
button1 loads the swf.
button2 loads a sound and when the sound is loaded, the sound is played and the swf is played in onSoundLoaded();

Maybe timing? The child SWF may not be fully loaded. Sounds and SWFs are asynchronously loaded.

It could be a compatibility issue as well as Acrobat 8 is an older version.
Do you get any error message while registering for the product?
Try repairing it and once and also check for updates as well.
Is it happening with all the word files or any specific one'?

How to display different Splash Screen depending on the Locale?

Hi,
I have a splash screen which is working fine.
I want to display different spalsh screen depending on the locale the user has.
Is this possible.
I can display different Title,Description and the text of the short-cut icon on desktop and startup Menu based on the locale by mentioning it in the JNLP and altering my browser settings. I am not able to use the icon and splash screen corresponding to the specified locale. How to do this?

I too am having the same issue only I am in Regina, Canada. iCloud appears to think Regina, Canada is in the Central time zone which it is, but it does not use Daylight Savings time. My PC is Windows 7 and I am using Outlook 2010. I have iCloud on iPhone 5 and iPad 2. Terribly frustrating!
