LabVIEW XY graph

Hello,
I have acquired two  signals for my application using labview 8.5. One is the voltage and other is current in my actuator. These signals are in the form of waveform chart. voltage  is supplied intermittently say from time 2sec to 4 sec and then from 6 sec to 8 sec. In between there is no voltage and current. I want to build a xy graph that plots current on x axis and voltage on y axis, then I want to calculate the instantaneos power and total power (P=VI) as well. I have tried different bundling but have not been successful.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Your data does not make much sense to me : what do you want to plot ? Are you really trying to use column 1 (that contains no numeric values) as x values ???
Then why you are trying to send these non-sense data to a waveform graph instead of an XY graph ?
Additionnaly, you are using a multicolumn Listbox (usually used to display a list where the user can select an element) while you should be using a table.
And where is the rounding problem ?

  • MATLAB pcolor and LABVIEW Intensity Graph

    Hello all
I have a data matrix which i want to plot using intensity graph of LABVIEW. My problem is that when i plot this matrix using MATLAB pcolor along with "shading interp" command, i got a very fine and smooth coloring graph of this matrix, however, using LABVIEW Intensity graph along with getcolor vi, i was not able to get a smooth coloring graph comparable to MATLAB pcolor. I have tried many setting but results were not satisfactory
Is this due to a limitation of LABVIEW intensity graph or i am missing something? Kindly help me
    Best Regards
    Asim

Thanks for providing that Asim, unfortunately the VI you provided is unusable as-is.  There is a subVI missing, and while not critical, it's difficult to tell how you're setting up the intensity graph without that VI.  Additionally, it doesn't appear that there is any graph data included in the VI you provided and a third-party software license would be required to use this VI.  Could you upload the data you're handling in a format that works without any external tools?
As for thoughts on the differences in the plots; they are largely similar in appearance, although it does appear that you're using a different color scale in LabVIEW- the majority of your scale is in the blue-green range, rather than continuing linearly through yellow, orange, and red. You're going to lose a lot of visual resolution in the ranges you're highlighting due to this. The plot you're trying to achieve also appears to be interpolated or blurred around the edges of bins, are you actually plotting data between integers on the x-axis, or is this an artefact introduced by the software?

  • Labview Intensity Graph Vertical Axis Label

When I change the font of the vertical axis label of a Labview intensity graph, the label disappears. Is this a Labview bug or is there a way to correct the problem?

Here are those screenshots... I was a little quick to submit
    - JLS
PS - of course, when you're editing the free label, it doesn't have those nasty affects, and if you group the objects (see the Free Label and Grouping screenshot) it behaves (at least cosmetically) much like a native graph label

    This is the problem:
When access the plot legend and I choose THE SAME point style (First row, third column) for both graphs, why do they then appear differently in both the legends and in the graphs afterwords, just as shown in the picture ???
    Simple as that.
I put the graph with data as an attachment so anyone can see if they get the same.    LabVIEW 11.

  • Labview XY graph with space between data and top/bottom of graph

In Labview, how do I modify the properties of the XY Graph so that there is some empty space (of say 1 unit) between the top and bottom of my graph and the data points I'm plotting. For example, I have a sine wave and when its autoscaled, the top point is at the very top of the graph but I want some space between the top of the graph and the highest point of the sine wave.  I could "unautoscale it" and edit the minimum and maximum to be 1 above and below the data points but is there a way to set it so it stays that way regardless of the data points that I input?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • How do i copy labview xy graph to MSWord with activex

I would like to paste XY Graph generated by Labview into MS word document using activex.

I made you a sample vi for pic creation. if you dont have the graphics libraries you're out of luck. select bmp, png or jpg and change the file extension accordingly before you run. Personally I prefer the PNG's as they are small compared to other formats. The write bmp vi gives an error if the file path is empty, rather than pop up a save dialog - dont know why.

  • Can i set up labview to graph blood pressure, heart rate etc and how?

Im new to Labview so require assistance.

    Johnny wych;
Yes, you can. From LabVIEW's "point of view", all it receive is an electrical signal. You need the adequate sensors and data acquisition hardware to capture your signals, convert it to a electrical signal and input to the computer so LabVIEW can have access to the data.
National instruments also has a product specifically to measure biological signals. It is called BioBench:

  • Creating trendline in labview graph

    Hi,
does anyone know whether is it possible to create a trendline in labview's graph?
kinda like in excel u can create a trendline but i want to do it in labview, is it possible?

You can use the curve fitting functions to find a curve to fit the graph and then add it as a plot to the graph. Examples ship with LabVIEW on using the fit functions and on creating multiple plots for graphs.

  • How to improve print quality of 3D Graphs

    Hello,
I’m using LabView 3D graphs (ActiveX) and when printing they look too pixelized.
Does anybody know how to print nicer 3D graphs?
    Thanks
    LV 2011, Win7

    Hi Darren and others,
I didn't think more about problem with quality of printing because I hadn't time. But now I must finish my work.
The problem is that the pixelization appears when making picture as well (JPEG, PNG, BMP). Just try. It looks horrible.
Any ideas how to obtain nicer picture? I need at least something like attached matlab_picture.png. I'm especially confused with the quality of the axes and "support lines".
Is there any other way how to export images to get what I really see in the moment, just like printscreen function (but only on graph)?
I don't understand how can someone be satisfied with the quality of 3D graph pictures :-(
Thank all for quick help, I really need it. I developed sophisticated application but it looks unusable because none can work with such low-quality outputs.

  • Cursor/Window for Zooming in Intensity Graph

Does anybody know how to create a non-rectangular window (any shape
connected by mouse clicks) for zooming (or for data retrieval) if a
particular area in the graph is of interest in a intensity graph?
Wouldn't it be really cool if we can select edges in a graph and
retrieve the information (or data) from the graph?
The other question of mine is: is there a way that when we're using
intensity graphs, we can create the custom menu with right mouse button
click, instead of the standard set of menu items? Any help is greatly
    appreciated. Thanks.

In my pre-NI days, I had a lot of fun trying to coax image-manipulation and
-analysis behavior out of LabVIEW intensity graphs. You can do a fair
amount by making use of cursors and hotkeys and creating pseudo-overlays by
setting image coordinates to certain colors to create visual cues in
    response to user inputs.
That being said, I never considered trying to get complex ROI (region of
interest) info from a user wi
th an intensity graph, and I'll bet it's a
pretty tough GUI trick unless you're using IMAQ Vision. If you find
yourself trying to build features like this into your application, or doing
a lot of image manipulation in general, you might save yourself time in the
long run by getting the IMAQ Vision toolkit from NI.

  • Ignore certain values when graphing

    Hi all,
I am currently using labview to automatically QC check data from a weather station. I have one VI that checks the incomming data for errors and outputs the data with any corrections to a text file. I have another VI that opens the text file and graphs the results. If the first VI finds a obvious error, it exchanges the bad data point with -9999 to make sure the error is obvious. Therefore, a series of temperature data may start like this: 45,45.4,800,46.5,47.3 and end up like this 45,45.4,-9999,46.5,47.3
My question is this. Is there anyway to have labview ignore certain values when graphing. I need the auto ranging feature turned on to insure that the graphs are legible, but if the -9999 value is included it creates a problem when the scales try to incorporate it. I need to be able to set labview to graph everything but to ignore the -9999 value when determining the scale. This would create an auto-ranged graph with the -9999 value simply going off the graph.
    Tim

You can replace the -9999 values in your array data with the double precision value NaN (Not a Number - you can actually type that into a numeric control). LabVIEW will leave an empty spot when graphing, and it won't upset your autoscaling.
