LACP ports used as standalone ports

we setup a switch for the server team to have LACP team ports for their Teamed nics in the servers.
on a few servers, the server team did not setup teaming on their nics and connected the nics to the switch teamed ports.  the switch connected each nic in standalone mode.  We did not notice this until some time later.
Would this have caused any network issues,  or would the switch treated the ports as standalone and work as usual?

The server should run in active/standby mode for the NICs and the switch would just run in standalone mode. No issues should have been caused by this.

  • LACP port-channel down but Individual ports up

I have setup an active LACP consisting of two members in each port-channel. As it is configured now the individual ports are operational but not participating as members of the LACP. Not finding any reference to exactly why this is. From what I can gather this may be related to the host configuration?
If anyone can enlighten me to such a situation it would be greatly appreciated. Would be even better if anyone had experience with the Oracle Database Appliance requirements for network configuration on the Cisco side.

    Hi,
Putting the EtherChannel to the "on" mode will force the ports to become bundled unconditionally but the true problem, then, is truly seeing if it works. The Cisco switch will happily keep the ports bundled and will even transmit data over these ports but how do we know if Oracle is happy with that and does the same?
Personally, I would not recommend using the "on" mode precisely because of lack of any indication that things are operating just as they should, unless it can be shown without doubts that Oracle runs without LACP and uses a static EtherChannel.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • LACP port-channel configs

    Hi,
I currently have Nexus 1000v and vSphere 5.1 and want to convert my port-channel uplink port (ESX to Catalyst 3750 stack) from static to LACP; The configs below are what I have now, and I added in BOLD what I think I need to change on both my VSM and Catalyst 3750 stack to make LACP work. Can someone confirm if the configs below are right?
    Thanks you for your Help!

    switchport trunk native vlan 900
    channel-group auto mode on
    no shutdown
    system vlan 10,988-989
    description uplink

    And here is what I have configured on my Cisco 3750 at the other end;
    interface Port-channel8
    description Etherchannel connection to ESX
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 900
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,988,989

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,988,989
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
channel-group 8 mode on (need to change to active)
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
    end
    interface GigabitEthernet2/0/24
    description 22 - nic3

    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
channel-group 8 mode on (need to change to active)
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
    end

I would like to use LACP port channel instead of a static port channel, because LACP will shut down a link in case of a faulty nic (dead, driver issue, etc), instead of trying to send traffic through that link.  With static port channel, one side goes down (ESX NIC) the other side (3750) does not see the link go down and still tries to send traffic, instead of hashing the address to another link.

  • How to use a standalone mapviewer in JDeveloper

    Hello everybody,
I want to use a standalone MapViewer (deployed in a standalone OC4J from MapViewer Quick Start) in JDeveloper.
    How can i do it?

First of all thanks a lot for your interest !
What i want to do is to create a jsp page which will use the JSP tag library of Mapviewer.
The problem appears when i try to run a jsp page in JDeveloper which contain (for example) the init tag.
To be speceific i try to do what is described in the following link with the difference that i use a standalone mapviewer

  • Is it possible use a standalone WAS 6.40 (ABAP) between EP 6.0 and R3 4.6C?

    Hi SDN's,
Is it possible to use a standalone WAS 6.40 (ABAP component) for integrating EP 6.0 with R3 4.6C and older? If not why isn't it possible? I know ITS 6.20 works for this. Our client wants to integrate EP 6.0 with 4.6C for MSS/ESS fucntionality.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi SDN's,
    I am going to rephrase:
WEBAS 6.40 (ABAP) has an integrated ITS. As I understood a WEBAS 6.40 standalone can be installed. Can't this be used instead of the ITS 6.20 standalone version or will this not work between SAP EP 6.0 and 4.6C for MSS/ESS?
    Thanks

    thanks

i didn't get you sir ...can please clarify me . i had done the same scenario using XI but in PCK is it the same? because in PCK it requires Default Interface Name and Namespace which must exists in XI and we can't even create our own interface in PCK .so howz it possible without XI.

  • Cant Lightroom be used as standalone, or must I use the unsafe cloud solution?

Cant Lightroom be used as standalone, or must I use the unsafe cloud solution?

the stand-alone version is the same software as comes from the cloud - you can verify the MD5/SHA checksums if you don't believe me.
it may be worth elaborating what it is you are concerned about (I'm not familiar with the safety issue that Adobe has "shown us before").
But regardless, Lightroom is available "stand-alone" and will be "indefinitely" so no reason to fret, yet..

  • Do I configure spanning-tree port type ed trunk on LACP port-channels

    Hello,
Can't seem to see a clear answer and wondering if something could offer some advice please?
We are using LACP aggregation across all our 10 gig attached servers and also trunking them.  We're running a VPC pair of 5596 Nexus.
For a standard trunk port I always add the spanning-tree port type edge trunk to the interface config.
However I think I should be adding this to the overiding port-channel config.  At present a colleague has configured the VPC below omitting the spanning-tree port type config.
    interface port-channel100
      description a-server
      switchport mode trunk
      switchport trunk allowed vlan 100
      vpc 100
The port member configs are these which do contain the spanning tree port type:
    interface Ethernet1/1
      description a-server(1)
      switchport mode trunk
      switchport trunk allowed vlan 100
      spanning-tree port type edge trunk
      channel-group 100 mode active
I always try to keep the overiding port channel config the same as its members and obviously for most config, you can't have disparate configs anyway.
However for the spanning tree config the NexOS allows you to have the members with spanning tree port types and not have to reflect that in the port-channel.
However I have this issue with STP:
    Switch1# show spanning-tree interface po100
Vlan             Role Sts Cost      Prio.Nbr Type
    VLAN0100         Desg BKN*200       128.4996 (vPC) Network P2p *BA_Inc
Is this due to the inconsistency with my port channel to member configs?
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
    Thanks!

Hi Paul, there are some parameters you can define on individual ports and there are some of them that will be inherited from the port-channel configuration no matter what has been configured under the infidividual ports. Spanning-tree configuration is one of the inherited ones. As soon as the port joins into a port-channel, it will start to use spanning-tree settings under the port-channel. When it leaves the channel, then it can continue to use the individual configuration.
There is a nice summary here under NX-OS Interface Conf Guide > Port-Channel Conf:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/6_x/nx-os/interfaces/configuration/guide/if_portchannel.html#wp1798338

We are in the process of migrating from dual 6509's to dual 7010's.  We have moved our 5k/2K's behind the 7K and have layer 2 up between the 6509 and 7K.  This link is configured as a port channel with 2 1gig links using LACP.  The port channel is up and working and traffic is passing but it doesn't appear the load it equally distributed between the links.  Both the 7K and 6K are setup for src-dst-ip for the load balancing.  The links have been in place for over 12 hours and I would have expected them to "equal" out.  Has anyone had this issue in or is this to be expected?  For clarification there is not VPC inolved in this configuration it is simply a port-channel between one 6509 and a 7010.
    Thanks,

  • Connecting to an EJB using an standalone client

I'm trying to connect to an ejb deployed on my Application server (not standalone). But i always get the exception: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application
To make sure everyting was ok, i followed the recipe described in: http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=232123.1
But get same exception: C:\Servers\oc4j\j2ee\home>java -jar applicationlauncher.jar ormi://fsddappt01:3101/LOTTO_TEST_APP/client1.jar admin welcome 1

Anyone has any suggestion on what's the problem?
Cant find any topics on internet describing this error :-(
    Oeyvin J.

    Same error.
The real application (web and ejb's) are running on the same OC4J instance. The Web client are accessing the ejb's on port 3101, so i think this is the correct rmi port.
The server is a part of an infrastructure that are running on the same server, the server is one of two ApplicationServers that the infrastructure (farm) is controlling.
each server has an instance name, the server i was deplying to has name instance2. Maybe i have to give a reference to to the instance?

  • How to use LR6 standalone without signing into cc?

GD this company will not give standalone customers peace and quiet. Shove the creative cloud down our throats whether we want it or not.
I cannot launch LR6 without being signed into cc. I paid for the stand alone edition. Does anyone know the magic mojo to get the dam thing right?

I ended here for a slightly different reason (the actual installation - for anyone interested - see below)
Since I'm here, I can try to give your question, as I understand it, my best shot:
    - To check if your serial number "sticks", i.e. is not in trial or subscription mode: Go to the Help menu - System Info...
then if the 2nd line in the window that opens reads: "License: Perpetual", that's all you can do, re-installing won't make a difference.
    - In that case, getting that annoying Adobe ID Sign-In message anyway (even if, like me, you don't want to do anything online, sync or otherwise):
there isn't much else to do but close the window without signing in and confirm to quit - Yes... every bleepin' time you launch LR6
I have not found a Preference to disable that check, even under the Lightroom mobile tab (which at least, like the Help menu, confirms you're not signed in). Maybe in a future update they'll have an option to disable that check on startup, at least after the first time (but not yet in 6.0.1, the latest one so far)
Otherwise either cave in and make at least a dummy Adobe ID, or the only other solution: Go back to LR5, unless you need the new functions...
It's still installed separately on my machine, and I have a pre-LR6 backup of my catalogs,  so I'll play around with it for a couple of days before deciding. It's certainly my last Adobe product.
Now the reason I ended up here: The INSTALLER actually FORCES you to sign in with Adobe ID even with a VALID SERIAL, which is just plain bovine stuff, and the utterly unhelpful Adobe Chat employee didn't answer my question, pointed me towards Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6 (which still expects you to log in, no matter what you try later) and disconnected. Grrrr.
    Here's the work-around for that:
    - DISCONNECT your network connection temporarily (Turn off WiFi, unplug the ethernet cable...)
    - Launch the installer, click on the "I have purchased" half => it will complain there's no internet connection
    - But a "Connect Later" button appears => click on it => get the old serial# screen, enter serial (& if necessary re-connect, then enter prior serial to upgrade )
    - Next screen, Accept Terms, then next screen choose your install options and there you go.
    - You will of course have to get back online to validate the serial within a few days, like before, but at least you skipped the whole Adobe ID Sign-In nonsense, and not deal with the creepy "Starting with this version... share your information with Adobe how you use Lightroom... is turned on by default..."

  • ClassFormatError when using JPA standalone

I'm pretty new to JPA and I'm trying to run it standalone (that is, not in an Application Server).
I've created another persistence unit for this purpose, and things used to work (more or less) when testing with Maven.
However, it never worked when running the same test in Eclipse. The Eclipse project, however, is generated by Maven and has exactly the same classpath.
    The error I get is:

I thought that maybe the error occured because only the JPA API was on the classpath, but no implementation. However, I have a whole load of Hibernate JARs there...
Any help would be very appreciated :-)
    Thanks,
    Eric

I had the same error. I found that hibernate has the (Maven-) transitive Dependency to ebj-persistence-*.jar. Additionally, I needed javaee-api-5.jar in the classpath (for EJBException,...). Now, ebj-persistence.jar is a subset of javaee-api-5.jar, and if they are not compatible, a ClassFormatError raises when javaee-api-5.jar is loaded first. I found, that the Apache-Implementation of javaee-api-5 is compatible with Hibernate:
    <dependency>
    <groupId>org.apache.openejb</groupId>
    <artifactId>javaee-api</artifactId>
    <version>5.0-1</version>
    </dependency>

What makes it different from full DEs? Can I run all of my apps like firefox, openoffice, etc.? Can I make them look really nice? I need some info about WMs.

pcmanfm is light and pretty good, but yes, you can replace it with thunar easily if you want. the latter however doesn't manage the desktop (and icons) like pcmanfm does, so you would also need a separate desktop manager like xfdesktop.
Also, does anyone know of a list of apps for basic tasks (web browsing, office, power management for laptops, and other stuff) that suit LXDE well?
How about themes? Do I just get GTK2 Themes from www.gnome-look.org?
