  • Lagging freezing and crashing

I can't remember when it started.
My iMac (2 years) started taking too much time processing: while typing, for example, it showed nothing, and after I stopped he started showing the letters.
Then the beach ball appeared most of the time. i was using Firefox by that time.
I had to force quit several times.
Tried to update Firefox, didn't work.
Most of the time I had to force quit or even shut down completely. Some times it even didn't restore (blue screen or apple screen forever), had to shut down again and let it for a while.
Tried Safari, started well, then the whole situation of lagging, freezing crashing started.
Tried Google Chrome. Started beautifully. Now the whole situation again.
I cannot work for a straight hour. The beach ball is always there!!
Yesterday I downloaded the last combo of updates for OS 10.6.8, I updated my CS5 (Bridge, PS, InDesign, Illustrator and Camera Raw).
I have two external drives, but never used the Time Machine feature.
I'm not a experienced technical person.
    Any clue?
I'm really planning asking for Apple support. I have lots of work to finish (I cannot finish them on a PC - Mac only app)... but if anybody can give me a clue for now... I'm really getting crazy about it.
    Thank you!

    Hi
I have a similar story. It also started with Firefox showing the beach ball. Now, it is mostly the Finder who shows it when doing any action. I can be working in an application with no problem, but the moment I use the finder to save a file in a different location, the beach ball appears.
Once the first symptom, everything starts complicating and, in some cases, the whole computer freezes. I can not even use the Command+Alt+Esc to invoke the window to close the unresponsive programs. It all ends with a hard switch off of the computer.
Although I have not found yet the solution to the problems, I can advance what I did. It may be that you are a bit luckier and any of these help.
    > Repair permissions & verify disk (in "Utilities" > Disk Utility)
    > Used Onyx  to clean all caches
    > Disconnected external USB drives, tablet, printers, etc. (all peripherals).
My system HD has plenty of emtpy space (a bit more than 200Gb)
Hope anyone can suggest something different.
    Regards.

ios8 affecting Iphone 4s wifi, overall performance. Sluggish, lagging, freezing.
    Seeking support to undo update?

my 4S was also affected following the iOS 8.0 update, really slow. A restore from backup (done just before restoring) solved that.I don't think 8.0.2 will help, it's not meant to fix this, while a restore from backup will reinstate settings and data properly, getting you rid of unneeded junk left by the upgrade (temp stuff etc...).

  • MSI P67A GD65 System Freezes while Gaming

    hey
i m facing system hangs/freezes while gaming. it is all along working fine but suddenly problem arrises outta nowhere.  mostly happens in Metro Last Light Game.  i did change multiple things like 2 different rams stick, Bios are 4.1v (at default), i tried 2 different GPUs like 290 and 580 but stilll facing same issue. dont know why.
if you can help on it this, it would be alot appreciated.
    m PC
    MSI p67a GD65
    I5 2500K
    8GB RAM
    800w PSU

What is the actual power supply?
    Follow this >>Posting Guide<<
Make sure you run latest BIOS.
PS: Intel ME driver is crucial, without it system won't work properly, and that's why it didn't freeze anymore. Same applies to GPUs: if you have 400W power supply and want to run 2-way SLI, it will be fine until you install drivers, which make the computer and graphic cards recognise how much power they have and so on

  • Satellite A500 Issues (graphics Card freezes when Gaming)

Hi Everyone hoping you can help!!
I recently purchased my Satellite A500 Laptop and I have 2 extremley bad issues!!!
Firstly apparently my model number doesnt exist it is PSAM3A-04100E which is proving to be a right royal pain in the preverbial when it comes to upgrading to windows 7!
    Secondly is my major issue,
I do a lot of gaming (sims 3, Callof Duty that sort of thing...) and whenever I am playing I think wow this is great excellent fps great graphics and then FREEZE!!! my computer completley locks up and shuts down, no warning signs of lagging slowing down or anything and it does it constantly!!!
I was wondering if anyone else is suffering from this problem or whether I look should look for a driver update I have searched around but cant seem to find it anywhere.
I dont really want to take it back to the shop because then I wont have a compuer for weeks!
Any help would be massively appreciated,
    Many thanks
    Tasman

    >PSAM3A-04100E
Where you bought your notebook? What is the country of purchase?
    New Zealand maybe?
Please visit http://www.toshiba.com.au/ > New Zealand and you should find your notebook model there but as I can see Win7 drivers are not available at the moment.
Next week I will get my Satellite A500 and I will test it with Call of Duty 4 and let you know how it works.
Anyway before you start the game stop all useless running processes and set power plan to full power. Be also sure your notebook can take a breath and cooling fans are not blocked somehow. Put also back side of your notebook on two CD boxes to have higher distance between notebook and the desk.
I hope everything will works well.

  • Lag spikes while gaming.

    Hi,
I had BT Infinity installed today and firstly I'd like to say that the overall service was and is very good and the download and upload speeds are beyond my fondest hopes. I was initially very happy with the connection when I was connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. However, when I moved upstairs to try out the wireless connection, I found that after about half an hour, I was experiencing major lag spikes very frequently. I ran tests on speedtest.net and pingtest.net, and found that the packet loss had increased from 0% to 14%, and jitter from 1ms to 32ms. I went back to the Ethernet cable and the connection was fine again. I've looked around the forum but haven't found any solutions. I am using the HH3, I was playing left 4 dead 2 and world of warcraft (not at the same time  ), there were 3 other devices connected at the time but only browsing and the signal strength was excellent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

I agree with evohicks comments a wired connection for gaming is always the best option as wireless is subject to interference and that causing a lot of packets being resent

  • 4.3 upgrade issues - battery drain, unstable WiFi, freezing, wake-up lag/freeze

I've been (also) experiencing issues since my Galaxy S3 was pushed the 4.3 update on the morning of 1/11/2014.  The worst is the battery drain - losing more than 50% of battery life within 4 hours of 100% with only minor texting during that time - with the charging process taking nearly 3 times longer to fully recharge.  The moment it's removed from the power cord, it drops to 98%.  This was not happening before update.
Today, I called Verizon's technical support who recommended a factory restore.  Since I read endless posts/experiences of this not resolving the issues, I chose not to take that path and to work with Samsung to understand when a fix would be pushed.  After 45 minutes on the phone with Samsung explaining the issues as if they'd never heard of such problems with the update - I was told that I clearly had water damage to my battery which was causing all of my issues.  Sure, and everyone else who owns an S3 in these forums has the same water damage.  Of course, the moment I asked to speak with the Samsung rep's superior, our phone connection grew dim, sputtered as if it were a bad mobile connection, and suddenly disconnected.
I experience the "Unstable Internet Connection" to WiFi when no other phones have issues with these networks.  They're the same networks I've always used - but since the update, they're now "unstable".
The lag to wake up when I receive a call or text sometimes takes 10 swipes and a few freezes before it finally unlocks.
I've downloaded no new apps since the upgrade, yet apps I used regularly prior to the upgrade now randomly freeze on me, requiring me to remove the battery to restart the phone.
Unless Verizon is willing to let me out of the 2-year contract since I'm not able to use my phone in the manner to which we'd agreed in that contract, they had better start acknowledging a large-scale problem with this update and work dilligently with Samsung for a speedy resolution.  Just seems odd that this update was pulled back in November for these exact issues, yet Verizon chose to allow it to be pushed to their S3 users in January without resolution from Samsung.  Gee, wonder if it's so we'll all upgrade to the S5 as it's release is a few months off.   Hmmmm.
    http://www.sammobile.com/2013/11/18/samsung-delivers-official-statement-regarding-galaxy-s3s-android-4-3-update-issues/

I agree, the upgrade is awful.  All I can do is complain publicly and if all of us do, maybe something will be done sooner.

  • Lagging, freezing and unresponsive

i have a 16gb 3gs we just bought in june. i have had nothing but issues with it, while my husband who bought one the same day hasnt had a minute of trouble with his, until a moment ago when he upgraded to 4.0.2 version that completely reset his phone.
my phone lags when doing any task, freezes up and just touch doesnt respond to anything. im starting to wonder if i got a lemon. the lady at the store said to turn it off every day. but i cant every day so i turn it off at night every other day. my husband has never turned it off once.
any suggestions? i am still running 4.0.1.

I've been experiencing the same ever since upgrading to IOS 4. Before that, the 3GS had always been very responsive.
Yesterday I was listening to music, then started the Google app to search for something. Text entry was very slow and unresponsive, and the music began stuttering. Clicking on the search result never turned up the web page, and the stuttering became worse. So I wanted to call up the task manager and just kill everything except for Google and the built-in apps (that has helped in the past). The task manager (you know, I mean the strip at the bottom) never showed up. So I wanted to turn of the phone. I pressed the power button for more than 10 seconds, but the slider never showed up. I literally had to wait for minutes until the iPhone decided to let me control the device again.
This has happened several times already, although never as bad as yesterday. For me, IOS4 is really a mess. No problems ever before the update. I don't know if completely restoring would help or if it's really a problem with the OS, so I'm waiting for any reports to help me decide.

  • Lagging, freezing and video pop ups

I have recently notice a lot of lagging to my laptop, a lot of freezing where it says "not responding" then will finally load the page, and video pop ups that I am unable to find the location they are coming from. I have ran several virus programs and I am still having the issue.

    I experienced the same thing.
(freezing website, not the video pop-up)
Try an adblocker to get rid of those pop ups...
In PaleMoon(a FF derivative) I didn't have stalled websites so far.
    http://www.palemoon.org/
I switched initially to get back the old, non Australis UI but it seems many websites are much more responsive than in FF.

  • Firefox keep lagging, freezing and crashing since update 4 when many tabs opened (3 windows, about 150-200 tabs total)

After upgrading to FF4 problems with flash plugin started, even gif animation keeps lagging. With so much tabs previous version could perfectly manage. I have a 4-core processor, so 64-bit version would be awesome

Because you still have problems with Firefox in safe mode, I think the problem
is with something in the computer. Check that everything is updated. Even
if you are sure it is.
Have you [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware checked for mal-ware?]
I'm going to call in the big guys to help out.

  • ITunes 11.3 Lags & Freezes

Using iTunes 11.3 is very frustrating.  I experience serious lags just when simply scrolling through my library.  When I change file information it will sometimes take 3 to 5 seconds to simply change a song name; while sometimes completely freezing, leading to a force quit.  I have a brand new MacBook Air and am running OS X 10.9.4.  I don't feel like I should be having these issues.  Can you help?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Problem with ipod, lagging, freezing, and also skipping to the end on video

i've had my ipod for about 4 months now and i can't help to realize my fairly new ipod is slowing down on loading.
when i first started, a white screen comes up and in the middle, it has an ipod and reads, "www.apple.com/support"
main reason why i came to this place.
thats fine to me, it works when i restart it.
then, i press a few buttons, Music -> Artist -> and whatever i want to listen to, but you know how the pages are suppose to pass? my ipod suddenly lags up(slows down) and at the top it shows that im going to those pages, but the screen won't change, then after 30 seconds, the page is loaded.
when i play a song, it tends to freeze a couple times and play again, i don't think this is such a big problem, because it only freezes for about 1 to 10 seconds at most.
also since i have an ipod video, i like to put some funny videos on it. the video when i play it, it is frozen for a couple seconds and play, but plays all the way at the end, meaning that the video has been skipped to the end of it.
these are my problems, anyone who has any idea what so ever what is wrong with my ipod then please reply.
    note!!
i have tried restoring over and over again.
i have dropped my ipod a few times, but not that far from the ground.

Did you Reset it or Restore it in iTunes? And if the latter, it successfully completed the Restore?

  • 330M Freeze during gaming

    Hey their,
    I have a 2010 Unibody Macbook Pro i5 with 1440x900 screen.
I recently discovered that gaming threw Bootcamps was causing a lot of freeze on my laptop.
Freeze can happens from 30min to 2hours into the game.
Both, drivers and windows are fully updated. It sounds like a overheating issue to me which is a shame for a 2400$ products.

Both done. I'm using a fan controller and updated my drivers.
I'm using Windows 7 64bits and just played a game with GPU sensors on.
I get 76°C max during gaming, which is not so hot...

  • Micro-freezes during gaming

When I run exquake (OpenGL) every few seconds I get micro-freezes, usually while there is some new sound about to be played or some new model loaded. This of course does not occur when under Windows.
How can I find out the source of the issue?

I hope you're not trying to use the open source driver for gaming.
How big is your root partition (assuming you don't have a separate /usr partition). Because if it was installed on a HDD, the read head could be travelling too much to get to the files. Bigger than 10 GB is a no-no in my book, but I guess it depends what you install and how much free space there's left... While Linux filesystems manage fragmentation better, there's a myth that there's no fragmentation on Linux. Not so. Here's how you check an EXT4 fs:
    # fsck.ext4 -f -E fragcheck /dev/sdb3
You may wanna do this from a LiveCD. Do *not* run it on a mounted filesystem (i.e. while your "/" partition is in use).
Additionally, you may want to set the noatime option in fstab on your root or /usr partition, or both.

  • Lagging, Freezing, hiccuping, halting, buzzing and other synonyms

Navigating for for this problem has been as much of a problem as the jarring intermitten functionality of my Satellite S55t-B5273NR, so I thought I would help anyone else who couldnt find the right words.
My laptop is brand new, but I still updated the drivers because thats just a thing people tell you to do whenever things go wrong. Suffice to say, every 5-15 seconds the mouse, and video will freeze, jar, hiccup, stay put... etc and the audio will "bzzzt" if something is playing. This happens whether or not browsers, games, videos, or nothing but the desktop is open. Ive checked the performance and processes for spikes that might cause lag, but nothing. The temperature is fine, All ease of access functions are off.
tl;dr annoying pauses. Laptop up to date, not overworked or hot. Please help.
    Thank you.

    Toshiba S55B
Brand New laptop, had no issues using for 2 weeks, and just now it started the exact same problem you have described.
I am not sure what causes it but its not USABLE at all under these issues. I am bringing my back to BestBuy, hopefully they will refund me, I do not want to deal with this God knows what problem. It could be a software but looks like a CPU or HDD problem.
