LAN connection on K7N2 Delta board

I have a K7N2 Delta board running Fedora linux. I have installed a spare lan card which works fine. However, Fedora does not recognise the built in lan connector at all. I assume that there must be a linux driver for this. Can anyone tell me where I can find this driver?
TIA

  • New K7N2 Delta board problems!!

I decided to upgrade my spare PC with a K7N2 Delta board since that is what I am running on my main PC.
I installed the board, installed windows XP, everythign was working great til I upgraded the Bios.
    Now the system does this
Sometimes It will boot and say the HD is m issing files
Sometimes it will boot and I go to the Bios and it will hang when the main menu comes up.
Sometimes it will let me go into a sub menu int he bios and it will hang there.
Sometimes when I hit Delete to go to the bios the screen willl go all black.
    Any Idea's?
I disconnected all the drives and started the computer and tried to go to bios but it did one of the above.
The bios says its the recent 8/02/04 bios.
I am guessing the bios is fubarred and I am SoL...

    mglines,
Do you have the CPU to FSB Ratio set to 1:1?
Also what RAM Timings are you using?
What about the Heatsink, what thermal grease did you use when you put it on?
    Take Care,
    Richard

Hum, it doesn't seem to be that... my roommate is running at 100MBit half duplexed and his works and the NIC card I'm using instead of the onboard was set to autonegotiate and it works as i'm posting this with it right now... i also tried switching it to 100mbit full duplexed and it also worked.
you said: "any missmatch and and you will not be able to send packets"
when I try to connect with the onboard Lan it doesn't have any problem sending them, but it wont recieve any.

I ended up giving up on it for the time being, just using my SMC NIC. Would be quite interested in finding out what the problem is though.
Anyone else in the same boat?
    Hi,
Your problem is not the same, SiliconMan is trying to connect with a dial-up modem not LAN. Your problem sounds like it may be configuration, do a search on this post, I'm sure you will find people with onboard LAN troubles. It's hard to troubleshoot though since you didn't provide any info about your computer. Good Luck

  • K7N2 Delta problem

    Hey all,
Ive used a K7N2 Delta board for about a year with now probs at all...  until now.  Couple days ago i decided a new case was in order, i purchased case went home and transfered all the components over, as it was i was changing a few parts too so i decided to go with a rebuild followed by a format/reinstall to start a fresh.
I put pc together, reinstalled windows xp pc booted fine, then i spent the next 30 mins or so installing all the programs i normally use. This pc is 1 of 2 i use and is lower spec as i only use it for work purposes, i use 2 graphice cards in it for dual monitor, a geforce mx 400(agp slot) and a tnt 32 something (pci slot)  after doing a bit of installing i went to the bios, the pc was booting using the lower card as pri display, all i wanted and all i did was change the first display in the bios to AGP. I hit F10 to save and restart... and nothin  pc hasnt done a thing since.
I get no warning beeps at all when i try to power up, although the power lights are on and cpu/system fans run. I checked the D-bracket, the code it goes to as soon as you power up and it stays there is'Initializing Hard Drive Controller' I aint no wizard when i come to fixing or building pcs but as a DIY'er i still think i hold my own,  ive done or tried everything i can think off...  clear cmos, change battery, remove components, change components, ive tried to boot with nothin connected to everything connected,  board wont even beep, just get same d-bracket message everytime, im under the impression that a new board is needed but i thought i'd post here in the slight chance someone might have a idea, or maybe able to tell me something i havent thought of.
    thanks

Ive done everything described above, and redone it just to make sure  lol   Not being one to quit easily ive been messing around with the board,  now im starting to think there maybe some life left in it after all,   first off if i remove the memory it now signals the warning beep, something i wasnt doing, also the d-bracket code has changed, its now hanging on 'memory detection test'   i know this memory is good, plus ive tried another module in with same results.  Yet another strange thing, when i try to boot up with a xp2000 (also tried a xp1700) within a few seconds it shuts down, but if i try my 1300 duron and change mhz to suit even though im not getting anywhere near actually booting, it atleast stays on giving the memory code. Ive been told,  dont know if this is right, that if i take the bios chip out of the board for 24 hrs it will reset the bios back to factory setting (bios has been flashed a couple times but not recently)  any one know if this might help, or even if this will work?   This board acting strange,   bit of a mystery goin on ere  lol   any more suggestions?
    thanks again

  • K7N2-Delta Power-On Issues

I recently purchased a K7N2-Delta board, with an AMD 2600 processor, and an All in wonder Radeon 9800 pro. Those of you familiar with the new radeons know they require an additional power source. When I connect this power source, my system will not boot. The fans spin a couple revolutions, then stop. It is not a memory/Processor issue, as I have replaced those. The board will also post with an older video card. I am using a PowMax (I think?) 500 W power supply, which should have ample power to power the machine. I've also tried with EVERYTHING else disconnected, except the fans, and it still would not work. If i unplug the additional power that the card recieves, it will start up, and the radeon screen comes up letting me know I need to connect the additional power cord.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello Malestrm,
Sorry to hear about your problem. I know if can be very frustrating. I built my computer few months ago, also with a K7N2 Delta-L AMD 1700+ and Radeon 9700 Pro.
I also had the exact same problem as yours. I spent alot of time trying to figure out the problem, but nothing worked. My ultimate solution, since I couldn't afford to spend more money was to leave my computer ON once I had it running.
However, whenever I did turn it off, the only way to restart from a cold boot was to keep trying to ON the Main Switch and after each time it didn't work i had to turn off the MAIN PSU SWITCH and then turn it ON again.
It was very annoying. And no one on any forum boards was able to help, even tho they tried.
Right now - my radeon card is dead and I am running an old geforce 2 which doesn't cause the same problem.
Also, since I was working as a computer teacher in a school during that time, I had access to alot of computers and my radeon 9700 pro would work completely fine in any other one. Even the old ones. So I doubt it was a problem with the card or the PSU. I am using ICute 350W. But the card successfully ran on far lower amp/watta PSUs.
I reckon it is most likely a mobo fault - in which case I should actually be asking MSI for some sort of compensation. But then again I am too busy to start the whole frustrating process again.
Hope you do have some better luck, and if you do ultimatly find a solution, please drop me a note.

  • FSB 400 settup. 2500AMD Barton. K7N2 Delta-L

AMD 2500 (Barton) combined with a newer K7N2 Delta Board.
    CPU set up Question.
My new board has the FSB 333 logo in the corner of the shipping box however it has a new stick on label announcing its "400 FSB edition" Unfortunately the book has not been updated which leaves me puzzled regarding the board jumpers and Bios frequency set up. The book explains the "multiplier" calculation system but unfortunately the manufacturer has not got around to publishing that figure.(core bus ratio)
I have two "jumpers" (J10 and J11) that have 133mz (factory set)(J10) and an alternate setting (safe mode) of 10mz.
On J11 I have two settings (100mz OPEN and 133/166mz SSHORT)
The instructions read " J10 allows you to set the CPU FSB mode"
J11 "CPU FSB Freq jumper.. used to spec the CPU FSB freq. Leave the jumper short connected if a 133/166 mz CPU is installed. If the CPU supports 100Mz FSB leave the jumper open connected. To use a 200mz FSB CPU set the jumper short connected and enter the Bios utility to adjust the clock freq. Can somebody make all this simple. Do I set J10 user or safe? Do I set J11 open or short and what freq do I set in the Bios?
Please note I am not interested in overclocking but merely in attaining the correct performance of 1.833gz.
I have the computer running on factory settings at present.
I have half a gig of 400 memory installed.

    Hi,
J10 is user mode pins 1&2, J11 is shorted 133/166. To get a 400 FSB set your CPU FSB Clock to 200.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Max?

    Hey,
Just wondering how far you can go with the K7N2 Delta boards.  I'm currently at 223 on air cooling.  I believe my corsair PC3200C2 XMS memory will hold me back from going farther, but just wondering if anyone knows the limitation in FSB that the K7N2 Delta boards will go.  Thanks!
    -ºb§

    Hey thanks for the reply,
I have my ratio at 1:1.  2xcorsair memory.....233 is not to bad. I'll accept that. (if I can hit it.......  =/  )

  • K7N2 Delta Overheating

I have the K7N2 Delta board (rest of system specs are in sig) and after about 45mins-1 hour of gaming, my system locks up and resets.  After lock up, if i go into bios, my sys temps usually read about 59-64 degrees celcuis.  I was having this problem with the stock fan/hs, so i bought the Volcano 12, figuring that would solve the problem.  Didn't, only gave me about 1hr-1 1/2 hours before lock up at lowest RPM setting (2100), and only about 10-15 mins longer at highest RPM setting (about 5600).  I have the same problem when I run 3d 2003 test, it goes through the first set of tests fine, but when I get to the first CPU test, my system locks.
My idle temps on the CPU are about 45-52 degrees celcius, case temp is in about 38 celcius.  I read in other posts that it could be due to TOO MUCH thermal goo on the chip, but how do I know how much is too much?
Aside from overheating, what else might it be?
If I leave my system idle, it can go for days with no hint of a problem.  It's only when I start gaming (America's Army, UT 2k4 demo, BF1942) that I get problems.
Also, I ran memtest, RAM is fine.

Wonkanoby:  Ya, I know I need new RAM, but I'm on an incredibly tight budget now, so it's gonna be a while till I can afford some (basically, I haven't had a job in 8mths).
DeathStalker:  I tired what you said, opened up the side of my case, put a Vornado house fan on high speed facing my mobo, and the temps did drop quite a bit (with HS/fan @5600 RPM and idle CPU=41celcius, Sys=28celcius.  @2100RPM and idle CPU=44celcius, Sys=34celcius).  I decided to run the 3dMark2003 this way, with HS/fan @5600 RPMs, and I got through the first CPU test, but then they system crashed again.
So it seems that the extra cooling helped, but still wasn't enough.
Any suggestions on how to cool my system with out putting a house fan in there?  I already have 3 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake.  1 top exhaust, 1 rear exhaust).  I have room for 2 more 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake, 1 rear exhaust), but I don't think that would help cool the CPU all that much, would it?  I thought the TT Volcano 12 would help with cooling a lot, but it has only provided marginal imporvements.
Also, could it be that I am overstressing my RAM, and that is why I'm having these problems?
    Open to any suggestions.

  • K7N2 DELTA+default vcore on XP2500 ????

I have a K7N2 Delta board with an XP2500 with 2 512 Geil GD 3200 modules, I have a question I am trying to overclock and I have set the vcore manually to 1.65 which I thought was the stock voltage for these chips.  However when I go into windows it is telling me it is set to 1.7 ??  Any ideas on this as i need to set it manually to 1.65 to get stability at 10 x 200.  Also any ideas how you lcok the PCI bus on these boards I think i have done it but am not 100%

The Nforce 2 chipset already has AGP/PCI lock so no worry there.  The Defualt Vcore is 1.65v but the board tend to stick on Vcore so reset CMOS and try again.  The K7N2 boards jump in Volts so go under PC Health in bios to check

  • OC: can change multiplier but NOT the FSB on K7N2 Delta ILSR XP1800+ TB 'A'

I have had a good look at the various threads in the forum which to be honest confused me a bit more.  I explain.
The good news (for me): so far I have successfully changed the clock speed of a Thoroughbred 'A' XP1800+ on a K7N2 Delta board.  Default is 11.5 but 12.5 or 8 are working fine.  On 12.5 the mobo recognises the cpu as a XP2000+.
The bad news: I cannot change the FSB from 133 to anything else even in Advanced Chipset Features, manual, high performance settings.  Not even a lower one works for this setup.  As said above, the multiplier however IS reasonably overclockable - the system simply won't let me change the default FSB of 133.
As far as I understand it, the 1800+ is unlocked even in its TB 'A' version.  So the 'wire trick' won't help me I guess.
The fairly low spec AGP card?  If so then a lower FSB should be possible.
The memory should be fine, it's CL2.5 Crucial PC2700 333 DDR.
BTW: I don't think the PSU is the problem here.  I had a 380W PSU in there (noisy although named silent!) which didn't change a thing.
Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated!
    Cheers
    Chris

I unplugged psu, cleared cmos, applied default bios values.  Then as suggested set multiplier to auto (H/W), reboot, and set the cpu/fsb interface back to Manual.
And it worked!  Crazy.  The system must have been stuck in some kind of loop...  anyway, thanks very much Wonkanoby for your help!
After sorting this prob, I gradually raised the FSB to 166 while decreasing the multiplier to 9.5 = 1577MHz.  Temps didn't chage a bit which makes sense for the cpu but I expected the northbridge chip to get a bit warmer.  Don't know about memory.
Does any of you have experience with OC a Thoroughbred 'A'?  I assume it is less OC'able than a type 'B'.
Or in other words: where's the limit?
    Cheers
    Chris

If your not hearing dial tone you might have your phone plugged into the wrong port. Most modems have 2 outlets, one is labeled line ( that is the one you should have plugged into the jack (RJ11C). If that's correct, query the modem and see if it tests OK, you may have a defective modem.

  • Anyone find this board K7N2 Delta-ILSR

Ok i have been looking for a new motherboard and i found the K7N2 Delta-ILSR motherboard.  I liked the specs and tried to find the board out there on the internet.  Unless everyone that has this board mismarked it or I am completely missing it. I am not able to find this board on the market.  I am curious if anyone has come across a site that sells them or if they have been taken off the market.  Or depending on how new they are, are they not yet out?  But I didn’t find any release dates either.  Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
     ?(

Dose MSI have a board or place where they announce when they are going to be releasing new products.  I was under the assumption that it was released because it was put out on their site, under products. ?(

  • Dont find any connection for PFC on K7N2 Delta ILSR

    Hi !
Just bought a MSI Motherboard K7N2 Delta ILSR
Looking for the connector pin for my PFC  ( Power fan Control)
I can only find two fanconnectors on the board
    CPU and System
SORRY if this question has been asked before
searched the Forum but did not find anything

I just installed this same board. I only found 2 also, so I suppose that is all there is.  If you are trying to set the system up so you can monitor the power supply temps and fan, here is what I did.
The chipset fan is a 12V fan, so unplug it from the motherboard and power it by using an adapter so you can run it off one of the Molex leads.  I do not know if they make these because I fabricated the wiring myself.  You will not be able to monitor the chipset temps though.
To fab the connector, I just used the wiring from an old system fan and soldered two small pins (about  one-quarter of an inch long), covered each lead with heat shrink and plugged them in via a standard Molex connector.  Make sure that you do not leave any of the pin exposed, ie: (the heat shrink should push up to the plastic of the chipset fan connector)..  I finished it by covering the new connector with heat shrink to make sure it didnot come apart.
Now you can use the northbridge fan control for the pfc.  This has worked good for me, and was $30 cheaper than a fan controller unit

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR - RAID BIOS Option ???

    hi ho,
i have my 2 storage devices pluged into the promise 376 onboard controller. they are not connected as a real raid (not mirror nor real stripe). my OS is win2k on the first sata device and everything was fine for a long time.
but now when my system boots, it detects the ide drives and then i see the irq board.
right after that the system stops and tells me 'disk boot failure'. so i don`t get the chance to configure my raidcontroller or my sata devices.
it is as the controller is deactivated. i remember a bios version where you could activate and deactivate the sata controller. but in my bios (right now it is v7.8) there is no such option.
    i have tested so far:
    - reset cmos
    - flash bios v7.5 to 7.8
    - disconnected sata drives
anyone with similar problems or any suggestion?

watch the bottom of the screen after pressing Enter on the "Welcome to Setup" screen. There will be some moments of files being loaded, and then you should see a message appear which says "Press F6 if you need to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver". This message will only stay on the screen for a couple of seconds, so press F6 as soon as you see it appear. After this is done, you will see other messages appear, and it will act as though nothing is happening, but eventually a screen will appear which will allow you to install the drivers for the sata controller.
specify a device press S, select "win 2000 promise fasttrak 376 controller" it will read floppy and load, dot not remove floppy yet, continue win2000 install it may nead to access floppy to finish installing raid driver, did you do it like this.
try making some floppy boot disks and boot to floppy instead of cd.

when you say there not listed, where did you see this? they wont be listed, windows will search for fasttrak controller so it will see sata's conected to it with out you knowing, so long as you load the controller from floppy that came with mobo as above.
