  • LAN BASE and LANE LITE Software

    Hi ,
I found this info in the Q&A for Catalyst 2960 Switches:
    Q. What are the advantages of Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series Switches with the LAN Base software relative to Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series Switches with the LAN Lite software?
    A. Cisco Catalyst 2960 LAN Base switches deliver intelligent services for branch offices and wiring closets. The LAN Base IOS software supports enhanced Layer 2+ security, quality of service (QoS), availability, and scalable management to enable new converged applications. Catalyst 2960 LAN Base switches include both 10/100 Fast Ethernet and 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity in 8-, 24-, and 48-port configurations.
Cisco Catalyst 2960 LAN Lite switches are for entry-level branch office and wiring closet networks. They simplify the migration from nonintelligent hubs and unmanaged switches to a fully scalable and reliable network. The LAN Lite IOS software supports standard Layer 2 security, QoS, and availability while lowering the network total cost of ownership. Catalyst 2960 LAN Lite switches deliver 10/100 Fast Ethernet connectivity in 24- and 48-port configurations.
All Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series Switches have technical support service options available through Cisco SMARTNet® service. All come with a Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty, and LAN Base and LAN Lite software updates are provided at no additional cost.
my question is about the text in red color, does that mean that if I ordered  (WS-C2960-24PC-L) then all the Ethernet interfaces can work at the 10/100/1000 ?

    Hello and good afternoon,
Here is the link to the model comparisons:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6406/prod_models_comparison.html
There are gig uplinks on the lan-lite products.
Is there a specific application, feature or functionality you are looking for?  Can I assist you all in finding the right switch?
Kindest regards and best wishes for a great new year!

  • [IPv6/WLC7.2] Could we use 2960s "LAN LITE" ?!?!

    Dear Experts,
    Im doubt with following diagram,
Topology designs CAPWAP Access Point to do Dual-Stack tunnel IPv6 in to IPv4 tunnel. And need WLC to be L2 directly adjacency to IPv6 enabled-Router.
    Questions are
    - Can I use existing L2 switches such 3com/HP or 2960s 2960 LAN LITE which do not support IPv6 features?
    - What're others use cases for LAN LITE IPv6 support features like IGMP, MLD?
Thanks in advance for sharing, any suggestions are welcome.

In your solution the router will have two entries for the destination in the routing table. But it will not send a copy of the packet to each router but will send some packets to one next hop and will send other packets to the other next hop. This is not the desired outcome.
Cisco has recognized the problem with static routes with a next hop over a LAN interface will not be withdrawn while the LAN interface is still active. Cisco has provided a solution to this with a feature called Reliable Static Routes with Object Tracking. This link should give you the information to configure it and to solve the problem:

  • PO from SO via DI API:Base document card and target document card do not ..

    HI All,
I am trying to create Purchase Order from Sales Order. This is possible by GUI (on Sales Order on logistics tabs Click On Purcase Orders CheckBox.
I got the error message: -5002-Base document card and target document card do not match.
The message itself can be understandable, because the Customer and Supplier has a different CardCode.
I am sure I am using a correct code
    oPo.Lines.BaseType = BoObjectTypes.oOrders
    oPo.Lines.BaseEntry = sDocEntry
    oPo.Lines.BaseLine = iLineNum
Where oPo is a Purchase Order document.
sDocEntry is a Sales Order docentry and iLineNum is a Line number of Sales Order
For other A/R to A/R and A/P to A/P documents are working fine.
Has anybody found this error or has anybody created application like this?
    I am using sbo2007PL46

  • Safety of MS Sharing on LAN over TCP/IP via NetBIOS and/or Direct SMB

Shalini Sampath Kumar at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/ suggested I post this question over
    here:
What is the safest recommended way to set up MS File and Printer Sharing on a LAN with both Windows 7 Pro and XP Pro machines?  Does "Direct hosting of SMB over TCP/IP," help?  What about setting a "Scope ID" (or did that go out
    with Windows NT)?
Background:  I've been trained to be paranoid about NetBIOS over TCP/IP.  Right now I have only XP Pro machines on my peer-to-peer workgroup LAN (behind a NAT router and with Simple File Sharing turned off), on which File and Printer Sharing has been
unbound from TCP/IP and bound to NetBEUI instead, so I feel fairly safe.  Port scanning by ShieldsUp doesn't see any ports through the router, open or closed -- in other words, it appears to be "stealthed," for what that's worth.  With
NetBIOS disabled on all computers inside the LAN, however, can I perform a valid test of what will happen when File and Printer Sharing is re-bound to TCP/IP?
My New Problem:  I'm planning to add Window 7 Pro machines, for which NetBEUI isn't an option, and then to transition entirely to Win7 before XP goes off extended support in April.  I will still use a peer-to-peer architecture with password-protected
sharing turned on (no HomeGroup).  It appears that I can still get rid of NetBIOS (and WINS) in favor of "Direct hosting of SMB over TCP/IP," which sounds safer.  Apparently then only port 445 will be vulnerable instead of ports 137-139.
In any case I want to do everything I can to protect my file-sharing port(s) from the Internet (e.g., from anyone who might break into my LAN either by making a wireless connection or by hacking the router itself).  Can anybody give a clear set of steps
to change sharing from NetBIOS (which I would like to disable entirely) to direct hosting of SMB and to verify that I'm protected as well as possible?
I will have to completely revamp the network-file-sharing configuration of my XP machines as soon as the first Win7 machine goes on line (and possibly tweak the configuration of Win7 as well), perhaps as early as this week. I want to do this in the way that
maximizes security to the extent possible.  Thanks in advance more details and guidance on this topic! -- JCW2
P.S. -- These computers are all laptops and will be used away from my home LAN -- another reason for paranoia about File and Printer Sharing.  I realize that Windows 7 provides an easy way to disable F&PS by selecting any new network location as
"public," but XP does not (as far as I know).  Fixing that will take more effort and be harder to remember... -- JCW2

Removing the NetBIOS transport has several advantages compared to NetBIOS over TCP, you can find detailed infromation in the following KB

Hi again -- I think I'm slowly catching up with you.  Following from my previous message...
Somebody on another forum mentioned creating "Hosts" files on each computer to substitute for the DNS server that I don't have on my workgroup.  This is intriguing if I can figure out how to set it up.  (I've heard it said that taking control of
your "Hosts" file is a good safety precaution anyhow, since it is a frequent target of hackers trying to divert legitimate Web requests to their own malicious sites.)  Does anybody have tips and/or references that would help me accomplish the name resolution
    there?
Finally, what functionality do I really lose by going the Direct-Hosting-of-SMB-with-Hosts-file (or drive mapping) route as opposed to using NetBIOS over TCP/IP?  Granted, any new machine added to the network would also have to be added to all the "Hosts"
files (or mapped to a new drive letter) on each machine; but given that I already have to add it to the MAC filter and assign it a DHCP reservation in my router, this isn't a heavy burden for something that doesn't happen often.  Would everything then
work the same as if NetBIOS were providing the name resolution?
One missing piece that I see so far -- it's not obvious how this same trick would apply to printer sharing (although I'm not using that feature right now anyhow).  Could this be handled seamlessly through the "Hosts" file as well?
Thanks and Best Regards to All -- JCW2

  • Adf bc jar for base entity classes and extending them existing  project

    Hi,
I am using jdev 11.1.1.0 and have created a base workspace/project and adf jar for my base entity classes.
    1. I can consume this base adf bc jar in a separate new consuming workspace and create VO based on base bc classes or create new EOs that extend base bc entity classes.
    2. Furthermore, for an existing consuming project that earlier included src/ of base entity (BC components), i can remove the dependency on bc source and bring in this new adf jar and everything including the view controller and the service/datacontrol works fine.
The issue i am running into is as follows.
    - In the existing project (#2) above i try to create a couple of entities based on entities in my base jar; associations are automatically brought in. Note i am not overriding any attributes. My intent here is to generate .java and implement some code.
    - I then try to make my existing VOs based on the newly extended entity (VO overview->Entity Objects-> Shuttle NewEntity from Available to Selected)
    - I then try to remove the old EO from selected under VO overview->Entity Objects->Shuttle OldEntity from Selected back
    - I get a warning dialog box that says something to the effect that some viewlinks are dependent on these old EOs in this consuming project.
    - I tried to laboriously analyzed dependencies and it this dialog box does not make any sense as I have already extended EOs and the tooling should be able to let me use these
    My questions
    - Why I am not able to remove old entities from VO dependencies
    - Is it ok to leave the old EOs in "Selected" along with the newly extended EO ? What are the implications for this?
    - I also thought about extending base associations, but did not go anywhere.
In general, I am ok with consuming an ADF BC jar that has entities etc. but not clear about removing dependencies of base EOs on VOs when entities are extended and consumed in a pre-existing project that used base entities.
I can send a project if any PM is willing to take a look at it.
    Thanks,
    ps:
I have already gone over the following info
    http://technology.amis.nl/blog/215/organization-of-bc4j-domain-eo-and-business-vo-package
.. wants to create an enterprise data model in BC4J, reflecting the Enterprise Data Model set up in the RDBMS. All (or at least most) business rules will be implemented in the Middle Tier – to take the load of the database and also allow developers not comfortable with PL/SQL to define and maintain the business rules. It is clear that this means that all applications that need to access – and manipulate – the database, need to go through the BC4J foundation layer. Martijn wants to define the Entity Objects – and their business rules – only once and share that definition between different projects. Each projects can create its own ViewObjects on top of these shared Enterprise Entity Objects.
    http://radio-weblogs.com/0118231/2005/09/29.html
I am currently working on a project for a partner where we will be using ADF BC as our model layer for a large application. In order to keep the footprint of each application module down to a reasonable size, we are intending to create a number of separate 'root' application modules for each functional area of the application. Within, these 'root' application modules we will then use nested application modules to further partition the application. All of the application modules will be accessing the same datasource and will need access to the same database objects.
In order to separate our code between the development team and into function areas, our initial thoughts were that we would create an ADF BC model project containing Entity Objects for all of the database tables e.t.c. as these are common amongst all functional areas. We have configured all of the EOs for validation rules, defaulting values and extending doDML() as appropriate. Happy at this stage we then created a simple .jar file to deploy all of the definitions. Upon creating a new ADF BC project for each functional area we added the jar file as a library import into the new project. However when we the tried to create some new View Objects via the JDev Wizard we were unable to see the imported Entity Objects.
Is the only way to share Entity Object definitions between different ADF BC projects to manually copy the source definition files into the new projects src directory? Since this would mean multiple copies of the same components, it could prove to be a maintenance nightmare. Is there a way of doing it without creating multiple copies of the same object definitions?
The developer is spot on in their ideas of layering and reuse, and even has created a library for their reusable entities. This last step is not something everyone thinks to do. The missing step is known as "importing" components, so with that one extra bit of knowledge under his belt, he should be able to do exactly what he envisions. My little article called Difference Between Adding and Importing Business Components tries to explain the difference and gives the menu options to choose to perform the importing.

  • Airport Base Cutting in and Out

My Airport base station has started cutting in and out and restarting it only sometimes works. Once returning to detectable signal, it may work for seconds, minutes or hours.
For four years, we have had a flat-screen iMac, an eMac and a network printer working without a hitch. Recently, We added a MacBook Pro, also without a glitch. Suddenly, in the past three days, the signal has frequently become undetectable, even at the iMac only 2 feet away.
Clearly, it does return to use, as I am using it now. Leaving it in use (e.g streaming a radio over internet) seems to keep it active, but I am not sure for how long.
I've tried it all: turn Airport on and off; unplug and re-start base station; unplug and re-start DSL modem; repair permissions; name it.
The unit seems to have spontaneous regeneration as it seems to work after sitting unused for a while (though I have to log back in, which I have not had to do in the past).
All three computers are running 10.4.5 and all have the latest Airport updates.
Is there something else to try? Do I just go for a new base station? Could it be something outside--DSL, electronic interference, etc? (No new electronics in the house.)
Airport Base Station (not Extreme--Snow?)   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

yes, am experiencing a similar problem.
brand new iMAC intel, with firmware upgraded. 10.4.6
when I try to do a software upgrade, I can begin the download. it goes for about 2 mb or so, and then cuts out.
no signal, download is stopped...but a few seconds later the airport signal is back on at full strength.
am going to try the suggestion of channel change

  • Base Retina iMac and Photoshop CC 2014

I just picked up the base model iMac and am not very happy with the way Photoshop runs on it. For example, when using any of the blur filters I get a status clock with the percentage running along. This happens every time I move the center point. When browsing the filter gallery, it draws in in chunks. When using NIK filters, it again, comes in in chunks. Is this a PS issue, or is the iMac not-so-ready for primetime?

  • Seperating management and normal service on two different LAN interfaces

We would like to keep administration and general service of Windows Servers seperate on two different LAN interfaces "A" and "B" (on "dual home" machines i.e. machines with two network interfaces).
Is this feasible so that no administration can be performed on LAN Interface A, all regular Services runs over LAN Interface A and all administration has to be done over B?
Reasoning for this is security - only certain people and machines would be granted access to the management LAN.
Any ideas how this is best achieved?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
We can use the firewall to achieve your goal.
Firstly, disable all the port in firewall of LAN B.
Enable the port which used by the services in firewall of LAN B.
After that all traffic from LAN B, which is not related to the services will be denied on the server.
This is the general method of protecting the server on internet. (It is usually to be performed by a hardware firewall).
    Best Regards.

    If yes, please read:

Is this an Imap mail account?
if yes, you can choose to only synchronize the most recent of emails instead of a whole folder.
    see info :

Make sure you compact folders on a regular basis to remove all 'marked as deleted' emails.
Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings -> Clean up ("Expunge") Inbox on Exit will compact the Inbox folder when you exit Thunderbird. If you check "Empty Trash on Exit" it will also empty and compact the Trash folder when you exit.

    Hi,
For the sake of anyone else who has this problem:
After much searching for the answer to why I was getting this message I found that the internal validation must be case sensitive and so 'C00417' on the receipt was not matching 'c00417' on the invoice.
