Laptop stolen, what to do?

Hi, I just had my Macbook Pro stolen at Sydney international airport and the Police could not help me at all. I dont know anything about camputers and technology so it seems like my laptop was even not recorded on Icloud! I know I should have absolutely no hope to find it again but is there anything I can do with my serial number or anything or do I just have to move on? Thank you for your advices, I am pretty divastated. They even found usefull to hack my email account!

Did you enable "Find My Mac"? It isn't a panacea by any means, but I would trust it over MacKeeper any day of he week. MacKeeper is itself malware by the definition of many.
You can be hopeful, but really it is just like any other stolen personal item. Either law enforcement will turn it up, or not. It is indeed unfortunate if the device has personal information that is accessable. Make sure you quickly inform any password protected entities for which may be compromised. Change passwords, and notify any other financial related entities to protect your compromised accounts.
If you have a Mac nowadays, you simply have to accept some responsibilities if such computer makes you vulnerable.
1) Backup everything. If you don't have at least two maintained, independent backups, it isn't adequate.
2) Enable Find My Mac. And use it immediatley upon loss.
3) Make sure your Mac Keychain is secure.
4) Secure your login.
5) Consider encryption. At least encrypt sensitive files. Never store passwords unencrypted.
6) Keep a record of all identification aspects of your system.
7) Change passwords frequently, and use strong text strings, not words.
