Large PDF Not Loading in IE over HTTPS

Hello,
I am currently experiencing an issue viewing large PDF files using the Adobe Acrobat plugin for Internet Explorer over an HTTPS connection.  After clicking on a link to a large PDF in Internet Explorer, the browser attempts to open the PDF using the Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin.  Partially through loading the PDF the browser plugin hangs and the PDF is not displayed.  The closest article I have found on the issue is on the following community thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1019479.  Are there any additional options to resolve this issue other than what is listed in the referenced thread?  Does Adobe have any plans to address this issue in a future release of the plugin?  Forcing a download of the file verus viewing in the browser is currently not an option for me.
Thanks in advance!

has anybody come across this issue and found a solution?
My research found this test to try:
<HTML>
<BODY>
<INPUT type=button onclick=loadmyxml() value="Load XML">
<SCRIPT>
function loadmyxml()
var XMLObj = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM")
XMLObj.async = false;
XMLObj.load('gallery.xml');
if (XMLObj.parseError.errorCode != 0)
alert("Error loading XML file : " + XMLObj.parseError.reason);
else
alert (XMLObj.xml);
document.write(XMLObj.xml);
</script>
</BODY>
</HTML>
(and it works!). It pulls in the raw XML data.  But it's static and not what I need it to do. So now i'm not sure if it's specific to Spry or if it's XML in general.
My page works fine in IE (pulls in dynamic Spry XML content) but ONLY when on HTTP server.... move to HTTPS and it doesn't work anymore.
Problem is only in IE, and ONLY when on a secure server.

  • Loading a video over HTTP

    I'm having problems loading a .3gp video over HTTP. I get the
    following error message "Error preparing video for playing".
    Everything else (xml data, images) loads nicely. I've tested
    this with Nokia 6630 and N70, but with no luck.
    If I transfer the files to my phone and load the video from
    the memory card, it works just fine. Is there something I can do to
    fix this?

    Ciao
    the defualt streaming protocol for Nokia is rtsp not http. So
    it will not work an http call to a video.
    Also using rtsp requires a streaming server, it's not enough
    to place the video file on the server.
    Other phone might use http for streaming.

  • WLC Captive Portal not loading images or via HTTP correctly

    Hi All,
    I have a strange issue I'm hoping someone can shed some light on.
    I have a CT2504 at a customer site which does not load the captive portal page correctly nor will it load via HTTP as opposed to HTTPS.
    So for starters I did what I do with all my CT2504's (which work fine), I configured my Guest network to authenticate via the default captive portal. I then disabled HTTPS and SSH and enabled HTTP managment followed by rebooting the controller.
    On boot, logging into the WLC management GUI is automatically presented via HTTP as expected.
    However when clients access the Guest network they are redirected to the Web Authorisation via HTTPS instead of HTTP, any ideas?
    In addtion to the above the captive portal page does not display correctly.
    The preview via the controller works fine, but the client is presented with a page with broken links to the images i.e. the blue strip at the top and the Cisco logo on the right, any clue what's happening here?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Thanks Gray. I am glad it worked.

  • Pages of PDF not loading on iPad

    Aloha,
    I am having issues with certain pages of a PDF Textbook not loading on my iPad; this is my first semester using only e-books and after running into this issue i will never use an e-book again.
    The PDF in question is a 470mb Biology textbook which is saturated with pictures. What is happening is that a page will load (pg 469), but the next page will not load no matter how long i let it sit, and the proceeding page loads just fine then from that point certain pages don't load either. I have reinstalled Reader on iPad, i have tried compressing the PDFs with preview AND acrobat but neither change the size no matter which option i use (compress/optimize).
    Please help, this is infuriating.

    Hi SurfEatSleepRepear,
    The issue seems to be related to the document. Does the pdf open fine on the desktop?
    Do other pdfs work fine?

  • Safari 5.0.6 not loading webpages for over 40 minutes...

    Hi!   Just today when I was using the iMac 10.5.8, Safari did not load the webpages like it would normally do. Sometimes when you click on it, it wouldn't even load. The webpages don't load and the blue bar stops there. Anyone have a solution?? Thanks.

    If Safari is getting very slow:
    (Presumably you regularly empty your Safari cache by deleting the following file:
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/cache.db
    and clear your History)
    Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up* as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here:   http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions and here:  http://www.opendns.com/technology/opendns-vs-google-public-dns/ )
    and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
    * as confirmed by: http://lifehacker.com/5835775/google-dns-and-opendns-users-are-getting-a-web-spe ed-boost
    and Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408?viewlocale=en_US
    but results may vary depending on where you are located.
    If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    (You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
    Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
    If your computer is part of a network:please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/best_practices/#your_network and follow the advice given.
    If you use a Router, make sure it has the latest firmware installed.
    One reason for a slowness in page loading may be the 'DNS Pre-fetching' feature of Safari 5.x onwards as is described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408?viewlocale=en_US
    You can cancel DNS pre-fetching by going to Terminal and typing:
    defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
    You have to restart Safari for it to take effect.
    If Safari seems to hang for ages:
    If you have a lot of tabs open and/or a lot of pages running Flash, Safari can sometimes 'hang', requiring a restart of Safari. This can often be inconvenient, and as it is rarely Safari itself that is hanging but merely one of its plug-ins, usually Flash, there is a way using Terminal to restart the plug-ins (without restarting Safari and losing your tabs) by quitting the WebPluginHost process:
    Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder in /Applications and type
    killall -9 WebKitPluginHost
    Note that this command kills all Safari plug-ins, not just Flash. All plug-ins should start back up when you reload the page.
    Then go back to Safari and refresh any pages that were using the Flash plug-in. This also fixes the Beachball of Death. Try this whenever Safari gets slow or freezes. The later versions of Flash 10.1 onwards appear to have improved the situation somewhat, but haven't completed eliminated it.
    For this and other reasons Apple switched their websites to HTML5 in January 2011:
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/01/26/apple_revamps_its_public_website_u sing_html5.html
    For Snow Leopard/Lion users this should also be read:

  • Large image not loading

    I generate JPGs on my server and send them to clients on an intranet (using http://, not file://). Smaller images work just fine. Large images do not using Firefox, even when trying to view the images by themselves in a new tab. Those same images work perfectly fine in IE 8, Chome v22, and Safari 5.
    I tried the suggestions here to no avail:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-problems-images-not-show?as=aaq
    Similar problem found here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/795933?as=aaq
    Not sure which attribute might trigger the issues, but I know:
    - 901 x 27928 resolution 3.93 MB picture will load
    - 904 x 32767 resolution 4.77 MB picture won't load
    Looks like the image file is uncorrupted because I can click to view the image in FF, right-click to 'View image info', click 'Save As...' for the image, and save it to my desktop. Opens up just fine in Windows. Seems to be a bug in the way Firefox is attempting to display it...

    That image displays fine for me in Firefox on Linux, but I'm not seeing anything in a Windows Firefox version that runs under Wine.
    Even the Tools > Page Info > Media preview panel is blank there, but saving the image is possible.

  • Pdf not loading correctly from Safari

    I am having great difficulty, and others it seems, in downloading pdfs. I have a downloadable brochure for school classes as a pdf file, which works in other browsers, but not Safari. Pdf downloads worked fine in Jaguar but not Tiger. The pdf opens in a safari page. How do I access this as a regular pdf?

    You want to download the pdf and read it with Adobe Acrobat 7.x, is that right? If so: when you see a file link on a page, look in Safari's >> Window menu for "Activity" and select it for a list of every file on that page. When you see your PDF file, Option + Double click the file name, and it should download, rather than open. This should work for any file listed in Activity. Your Download window will open, and the file will be downloaded to your default download folder, which you have set in Safari menu >> Preferences >> General tab.
    There are other, more extreme methods of forcing Safari not to load PDF's, but this is easy and allows you options.

  • Pdf not loading

    Whwn I click on a link with a pdf it doesn't open.
    I'm on the latest Safari and Windos 64 bit  versiuon

    Hi, Im having the same issue with my MacBook Pro. I was able to preview a PDF File within Safari and I could hover the mouse over the bottom of the screen and then click to download, print etc.
    Some update has taken place on my computer and I am now unable to either download a PDF File from certain sites like my University Portal nor Preview files within the Safari Brower.
    I do have the files mentioned on here if I go to: Library - Internet Plug-ins:
    - AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    - AdobePDFViewer.NPAPI.plugin
    Also in: Applications - Utilities - Adobe Reader*
    Now the Problem I have is I cant move to the desktop and delete from the desktop as I end up with a duplicate so to speak.
    When I try and delete them from the folders directly I get the following error message:
    "The operation can't be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > get Info, make sure "Locked" is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."
    *The 2nd issue is the Adobe Reader is faded out and has the circle going through it and is faded out ?
    I have re-installed the operating system, tried to deleted the items in safe mode to no avail !

  • PDF Not loading anymore on Flex Air Application

    Hi,
    Ever since I updated my Adobe Readed to Version 11, I can't view any PDF on my Flex Air Application anymore. Is there anything i need to do?
    AIR version: 3.6
    OS: Mac OS X
    Flex Builder: 4.6
    Adobe Reader: 11.0.02
    Flex components used: mx:HTML
    Please help.
    Thanks!

    Yes.  This is a well known bug in Air/Google Maps.  A lot of folks reported it on the Google Maps forums and here.  It was reported over a year ago with no action yet.  Major show stopper.
    For this main reason, I switched to the http://developer.mapquest.com AS3 API.  Plus they also recently released a Mobile Flash API that works great.
    I suggest you check it out because I don't anticipate any action on this issue on either side any time soon.
    Good luck!

    As I mentioned earlier, we are using MGCP for that particular fax port and the gateway we use as H323.
    Even I'm not pretty sure about using mixed protocol, I believe this gateway gonna used to support call center calls. SInce MGCP is easy for configs they might have confiugred only the port as MGCP endpoint.
    Now its not working with both the cases, not in mgcp as well as fallback mode. Can you reveiw the debugs and see why I have to remove "modem passthrough" command from voice service voip section which of our standard config and works well with all other gateway of ours. Please help here.

  • Client can not communicate with MP over https. Certification Problem

    Hi All,
    I have been fighting with this problem for the last 3 days and couldn't solve yet. So, I hope we can solve it here.
    I am trying to install client manually from a usb drive by using the below command.
    Ccmsetup.exe /usepkicert smsmp=”srvsccm2012.domain.local” ccmhostname=”sccm.domain.tr” smssitecode=”AUTO”
    Client Installs on workstations but only info that I can see under Configuration Manager Properties are:
    Client Certificate: None
    Connection Type: Currently Intranet
    Version:5.00.x.x
    So, there is a problem with connection to MP, It can not get policies and certificate info (PKI) etc...
    If I try to browse these urls, result is 403 - Forbidden: Acces is denied.
    http://siteservername/SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPCert<o:p></o:p>
    http://siteservername/SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPlist<o:p></o:p>
    This makes me think certificates are messed up but if I try to browse my MP with the url below, Result is IIS 8 page.
    https://sccmserver.domain.local
    I can see these errors in my log files:
    CcmMessaging Log errors:
    Post to http://”myservername.mydomain”/ccm_system/request failed with 0x87d00231.
    Failed in WinHttpSendRequest API, ErrorCode = 0x2ee7.
    ClientIDManagerStartup Log errors:
    RegTask: Failed to refresh site code. Error: 0x8000ffff
    LocationServices Log errors:
    Failed to retrieve DNS service record using _mssms_mp_”auto”._tcp.mydomain lookup. DNS returned error 9003
    Policy prevents failover to WINS for lookup
    LocationServices 8/26/2014 4:18:29 PM
    3900 (0x0F3C)
    LSGetSiteVersionFromAD : Failed to retrieve version for the site '”AUTO”' (0x80004005)
    The ip address of workstation on DNS is correct.
    I can ping and resolve the name of MP from workstation.
    I want to check if my certificates are OK but I dont know how to make sure certificates are good. Please advise.
    By the way, This problem is happening on the newly reformatted workstation, existing workstations can be re-installed with client without problems.

    I need information to resolve a problem I am having with PrintWriter and sending text using HTTP.
    I am developing a client/server system. A client will be used to connect to a Tini (a Dallas Semiconductor designed embedded system). Currently, to understand HTTP operation, I wrote a server that resides on the tini that listens for a connection attempt and when one is made prints the HTTP message in Dallas' JavaKit application window. The resultant Tini display includes some hardcoded tini text (italics only in (b) and (c) below) along with that received from the client app (italic bold in (b) and (c) below).
    I have also written some test client side code (see (a) below) in Sun's Java Studio Creator that sends a couple of lines of text so that I could see what my client app would actually send. I tried a few different ways of creating a PrintWriter object as shown in the code at (a) below just to see if it was a character set problem.
    The problem is that I get two different results under the following conditions:
    [Condition 1]: Entering "HTTP://tini" in the browser and pressing Enter. See result (b) below. This is correct and shows what the browser sends to the tini. The tini outputs the text immediately after pressing Enter.
    [Condition 2]: Running my client code in the browser. See result (c) below. This is incorrect and sends just a bunch of "y"s with umlauts as the message. The tini immediately outputs text up to the "cnt=0" line and then can take up to a couple of minutes to complete the message.
    1. Can anyone tell me why the client sends those "" instead of the strings I encoded for all character sets?
    2. Why does the client code takes so long to complete after the initial transmission?
    3. Can anyone provide me with links to information that explains this behavior? I searched Sun and the forum but found nothing.
    (a) Here is the current test client side code that sends a couple of strings to the tini:
        public String button3_action() {
            // TODO This should send the tini a request for its IP address
            String protocol = "HTTP";
            String host = "tini";
            try{
                 URL tiniURL = new URL("http://tini");
                 URLConnection tiniConnection = tiniURL.openConnection();
                 tiniConnection.setDoOutput(true);
         //     Comment out one then the other to see if there is a difference in result (there is not!)
         //        PrintWriter tiniout =  new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(tiniConnection.getOutputStream(), "UTF-16"));
         //        PrintWriter tiniout =  new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(tiniConnection.getOutputStream(), "UTF-8"));
         //        PrintWriter tiniout =  new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(tiniConnection.getOutputStream(), "ISO-8859-1"));
         //        PrintWriter tiniout =  new PrintWriter(tiniConnection.getOutputStream());
                 PrintWriter tiniout =  new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(tiniConnection.getOutputStream()));
                 tiniout.println("GET / HTTP / 1.1\r\n");
                 tiniout.flush();
                 tiniout.println("IPaddress?");
                 tiniout.flush();
                 tiniout.close();
            catch(MalformedURLException e){
                e.printStackTrace();
            catch(IOException e){
                e.printStackTrace();
            return null;

    This is to anyone that is having trouble sending data via a stream using a browser client. I found the answer after many different searches on the Sun site in a bug report: Bug ID: 4192018.
    The problem arises from the way the API actually uses outputstreams. It appears that you must add an InputStreamReader to actually flush the OutputStreamWriter buffer. After reading this bug report I added
    (tiniConnection.getOutputStream(), "ISO-8859-1"));
            OutputStreamWriter tiniout =  new OutputStreamWriter(tiniConnection.getOutputStream(), "ISO-8859-1");
            InputStreamReader tiniIn =  new InputStreamReader(tiniConnection.getInputStream(), "ISO-8859-1");
            tiniout.write("GET/HTTP/1.1\r\n");
            tiniout.flush();
            //This is necessary to actually send data.
            tiniIn.read();
            tiniout.write("IPaddress?");
            tiniout.flush();
            //This is necessary to actually send data.
            tiniIn.read();
            tiniout.close();
            catch (MalformedURLException e){
                e.printStackTrace();
            catch (IOException e){
                e.printStackTrace();
            }NOTE: The preliminary program still does not perform correctly but it does send data that is displayed in tini's JavaKit window. At least I can continue to verify how the browser sends data.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • PDFs not loading in Safari (OSX 10.8.2)

    Everytime I try to view a PDF through Safari, all I get is a dark grey screen. I can open PDFs through other browsers, and I can download them from Safari.

    Back up all data.
    Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

    Hi anaghad,
    You can deduce the orientation. Actually the value of the ASFixedRect are [ lower-left x, lower-left y, upper-right x, upper-right y ]. To have the correct value use the ASFixedToInt32 and you will be able to find the orientation of the Media with the length and heigth.
    Use the rotation to change the orientation.
    E.g. MediaBox [0 0 100 400] is portrait. If you have a rotation of 90° in addition it's landscape.
    Regards,
    Joe
