Last two versions of Flash frequently crash

Adobe Flash last two newest version's now using 11.9.900.117 seems to have a problem with crashing in Firefox on my Vista Desktop frequently, but with my windows 8.1 PC it also happens but not as frequent. I always send crash reports but don't seem to see any improvement in Flash versions. Other browsers ok. Do you have any idea's? I have version 24.0
Also you should be aware that when you go to update flash with the last 2 versions it forces you to install Google Chrome & gives you no option not to. Active X version update does not do this. I don't believe this is right to single out Firefox like this. I intend to complain to Adobe also. There should be a law against this type of business practice that Adobe is doing. One can only hope Microsoft Silverlight will stop this Adobe monopoly someday.

Seems I entered question in subject field? Here's the question:
iPhone 4S, the last two versions of IOS: I receive a text, in iMessage, reply, get error message instructing me to use valid 10 digit number. Only this person. I've deleted and re-entered her contact info - still cant send txt. What's up? ATT says they've never seen this. I have previously texted successfully with this person and she's changed nothing on her end.

  • I have two versions of Flash Player

I have two versions of Flash Player, ActiveX and Plugin. Do I need both of them?

It is recommended to install both to ensure that Flash will work in as many browsers/third party apps as possible.  Apps like skype, microsoft office, adobe reader that use Flash Player may require the active X flash player.  Most browsers use the normal plugin.

  • 11.6.602.171 version of flash player crash

11.6.602.171 version of flash player crash in youtube videos with windows 7 every version in every browser. so for the time i just installed the previous version 11.5 to work. i hope in the next version to fix it

    This is the fix :
    - Uninstall Flash : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_t he_Adobe_Flash_Player_uninstaller
    - Revert to 10.3 : http://forums.adobe.com/message/5110961?tstart=0
This is the problem with "the newest and greatest".  New version, new bugs to be shaken out.  Try that and see if it works.

  • Adobe flash frequent crashing

I am submitting this with little or no hope whatsoever of actually getting any assistance, but I have exhausted all other options
Since downloading Adobe Flash 17.0.0 123 on March 2, I have been experiencing frequent, as in, every 3 to 5 minutes, crashes. Nothing that I can do either stops this or gives any indication of what the problem is. I recently also downloaded the latest versions of Firefox and Video Download helper, but I have been assured by their experts that that should in no way effect Adobe Flash in any way.
Please assist as soon as possible with as low tech instructions as possible.

The easiest option is to try a different browser.
The versions of Flash player for Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox are all very different:

  • Why are there two versions of flash player on my laptop?

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional which seems to handle both 32 and 64 bit software.  I use Firefox as my default browser and use MSIE only when I must.
A Flash update failed so I checked the uninstall programs list thinking I'll just uninstall and reinstall the latest.
Huh?  I found both "Flash Player 10 Active X" and "Flash Player 11 Plugin 64 bit."  Now I've no clue what failed to upgrade nor why there are two versions.  Why 10 AND 11 and why is one called "Active X" while the other is called "Plugin".
And, to confuse me further, there is also Adobe AIR.  I don't know what or why or how to deal with all of these.  Would somebody kindly explain?
And, how do I figure out what update to which failed?

The ActiveX Flash Player is used by Internet Explorer and the plug-in Flash Player is used by Firefox.
    Download the following files:
Uninstaller for 64 bit Operating Systems
    Flash Player for Internet Explorer
    Flash Player for other browsers
Close the browser and disconnect from the Internet.  Run the uninstaller and restart Windows.
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Windows Explorer window)
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
    %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ system, has been deleted.
    Run both installers.

  • Possible to prevent Firefox from loading two versions of Flash, without disabling PLID scan?

Our IT department—what a great way to start a question—does not roll out regular updates for Flash. To bridge this security gap for Firefox on my work computer, I copy the following files:
    * flashplayer.xpt
    * FlashPlayerPlugin_<version>.exe
    * FlashUtil32_<version>_Plugin.exe
    * NPSWF32_<version>.dll
from C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash on another machine and paste them to
C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Plugins on my work machine. When Firefox starts, it scans the various locations (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin_scanning) and finds both this version and of course the outdated version originally installed, which IT does not update (currently 11.1.102.55). This effectively updates Flash, and until IT finds a solution to distribute updates I'll have to continue to update Flash manually (Java is unfortunately not so easy to fix), but still leaves me with a problem.
My perceived problem is that Firefox still scans the default installation directory of Flash and thus finds the outdated version. Under Add-ons > Plug-ins, I can select from "Ask to Activate," "Always Activate" and "Never Activate." If I select "Ask to Activate" for the current version (12.0.0.43) and "Never Activate" for the old version (11.1.102.55), upon restarting Firefox it sets both to "Ask to Activate." I conclude that Firefox does not treat separate Flash versions independently. Since constantly being prompted to activate Flash is bothersome, I could just set both to "Always Activate," but that leaves an old, even-more-compromised-than-the-current version of Flash activated.
The best solution, I suppose, would be to uninstall the outdated version of Flash, but I don't have the administrative rights to do so, and don't want to pester our IT administrators. I could prevent Firefox from scanning the directories specified in the Windows registry for PLIDs (see above link), but this would prevent it from finding my also-outdated-but-only-installed Java Plug-In, which I keep thinking I need. The behavior I'm after is to prevent Firefox from scanning or finding the old Flash version, while still finding my Java Plug-in. How could I go about this?
    Thanks

Maybe you can check the pluginreg.dat file to see if you can disable/remove the other Flash plugin and make the file read-only to prevent changes.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

  • Two versions of flash player appear in resource monitor

I tried loading recent version of Flash Player. The first time I got a message which said something to the effect that I was loading the program outside of library boundaries. I just checked OK and then had to start the loading of Flash Player again. It now appears that 2 versions have been loaded. This now is locking up my system or causing to run very slow. I did uncheck the Hardware Accelerator some time ago but it was still running slow even after that and before I loaded the lastest version (versions). Would appreciate someone giving me some advice. Thanks in advance.

  • Two versions of flash and security questions

If i have flash player v11 and v13 both installed with Firefox on a win 7 64bit platform..
will the latest version out of the two always be the one used? or is it possible a website could request the older version
with security flaws exposing security risk?
I am also contacting you because i need a little information regarding the CVE-2014-0515 Buffer Overflow exploit
    in adobe flash player 13.
Please tell me the mitigating factors e.g. " user would have to click a crafted website" or "if microphone and camera

when Microsoft releases a security update they include this information which is helpful so if you could do the same..

  • I have two versions of Flash installed - 9.0.45.0 and 16.0.0.235 - i cannot remove the old version which means websites will not recognise the new player. Help!

I have just downloaded the most recent version of Firefox and have this problem. Updating does not help. Setting the old version to 'never activate' deactivates'both. Please help - I am having to use Chrome!

    Hi.
It was here: C:\Windows\SysWOW64 - just deleted the exe and the dll.
Thanks very much for this very simple solution to a frustrating problem - now i can stop using Chrome. :)
    Have a great day.

  • I have a problem installing the last two versions available from Itunes!

I was installing the itunes upgrades (the most recent, and the second most recent), with all the new major changes in itunes. It was going well until both times, I incountered an error message. The first one says: Module P:\my music\iTunes\ITDetector.oxc failed to register. HRELUST -2147024894. Contact your support personnel.
I tried to retry, but nothing happened. Then I ignored it, and another message came up saying the same thing, except: P:\My Music\iTunes\iTunesAdmin.dll, instead of the other address. "Ignoring" that, and I got the same, but this time: P:\.....\iPodUpdaterExt.dll. Then: ...\CDDBControlApple.dll, and finally a message saying: Itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes. --Reinstalling never worked for me-- I always would repair, and get the same messages.
Finally, when I start up iTunes, I get a message saying: Warning! iTunes was not properly installed. If you want iTunes to be able to retrieve CD information from the internet, you need to reinstall iTunes.
Otherwise, iTunes seems to run fine!

okay. let's try working through the general advice from this document:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
but if no joy with that, let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.

I haven't yet tried the safe mode but I can.
I did the Windows update in the earlier reply and there were some updates. Those were installed and the computer restarted.
I have had Flash player crashes for some time. In my Plug-in Add-ons, I have two versions of Flash player, the newest one and an older 15 one. I have the older one set to never activate. The problem is the new one also keeps going disabled.
When I have tried to just update the Flash Player, I am never able to exit Firefox. I try closing the tabs and going to the Exit icon. It will keep telling me Firefox is not closed and it can't continue.
I tried to Uninstall the flash player in that program, and it is the same thing. It will not uninstall with Firefox open and nothing I try will allow it.
It is interesting that I tried to import my bookmarks to IE since this problem and it doesn't even recognize there being a Firefox browser.
Please tell me step-by-step how to do the two other suggestions in the earlier reply. These are regarding the Flash player.
    Firefox is still crashing.
    Thanks,
    Karen
