    Deet,
    It sounds like you're posting a RoboHelp HTML Help question

  • Launch URL in new window?

    Is it possible to launch a URL to open a webpage from within captivate and have it open in a completely new window with a predefined window size. If I select the - Open URL or file with the New option- it will launch the webpage in a new tab which is the same size as the currently open browser.

    Hi there
    Captivate is like any other application that allows opening web pages. Sure, it can be done but Captivate offers nothing to help you define that window size. What you will have to do is use JavaScript to make it happen. Configure the button or click box or advanced action so it executes JavaScript, then insert the script you want to run.

  • Launch applications in new Window from UWL

    Hi
    I have lot of work Items in my UWL. Each could be an SAP Transaction or a WebDynpro Application. I just want them to be launched in a seperate window.
    Murali.

    Hi
    This option is working fine for normal pages. But I need to open the tasks in a New Window.
    I changed this property for Two Iviews:
    Tasks & Universal Worklist under Contents provided by SAP > End user content > Standard Portal Users > Iviews.
    It is not working. I need to Launch WebDynpro Apps & Transaction Iviews.
    Any Suggestions.

  • Launch iview in new window: howto rename browser window name?

    Hi all,
    When I open an iview in a new window, I would like to set the visible window name to the name of the iview, instead of just "SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0". Any suggestions?
    I am working with a SAP Transaction iView (windows gui).
    Cheers,
    faB

    You have to write another wrapper custom iView to launch SAP Transaction iView. The wrapper java iView will generate URL for the SAP Transaction iView (PS: How to generate URL for an iView in PCD. ) and Open the URL in a new window using a javascript -
    WindowObjectReference = window.open(strUrl, strWindowName [, strWindowFeatures]);

  • How to close instance of Firefox launched via File/New Window without killing all Firefox instances?

    Prior to the latest Firefox update, running on Ubuntu if it makes a difference, I was able to select Close from the File menu (and if memory serves also by clicking the x on the last tab) to exit an instance of Firefox opened via File New Window.
    With the 9.x update this no longer seems to be possible. If I choose file quite from an instance that was launched via New Window all Firefox instances go away!
    This is annoying as I have to leave any instances that were launched.
    I tried the Close Last Tab add on, and it lets me close the content of the last tab but still leaves the instance running with a blank tab.
    Is there a configuration setting somewhere that I have missed to restore the previous mode of operation for exiting additional instances of Firefox without killing all of them?
    Thanks,
    Burt

    Each window should have its own Close button (big X in the right hand corner.)
    But this is dependent on the "Theme" you are using in Ubuntu. This big X chould be a Round Dot when you hover over the color changes. It could be on the Left site instead of the right.
    This [http://cdn.omgubuntu.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/screen-shot-2012-01-11-at-15.52.36.jpg Screenshot] Shows the Close button the Left Side, still an X though.
    CTRL+SHIFT+W will close the Active window.
    CTRL+W will close the Active Tab.

  • Transaction launcher: open URL in new window

    Dear all,
    I know many threads have already been posted about "stateful URL" created with transaction launcher, that open a new browser window AND navigate to an empty screen with the following text (which is more than useless):
    "The requested page has been opened in a new window, please press back button to go back to the last page."
    Carsteen gave some useful hints already in the following thread:
    Transaction Launcher in a new window
    But maybe someone found something new since then... At the moment I'm thinking about "simulating" a clic on the BACK button (like mentioned in this useless message), with something like :
      DATA:
      history TYPE REF TO if_bsp_wd_history_manager_disp.
      history = view_manager->get_history_manager_display( ).
      history->go_back( ).
    Any better idea ?
    Thanks & regards,
    Nicolas Busson.

    Hi Nicolas !
    How are you? :-)
    I assume that since then you have found a way to fix your issue, but as the post is not answered I can tell you that SAP has taken into account this point in SAP 702 EHP1, with a new attribute in the customizing of the transaction launcher called "Keep Work area" :
    Keep Work Area When Opening Launch Transaction in New Window
    This indicator defines whether the work area content is kept when you open a launch transaction in a new window.
    Use
    If this indicator is not set and a launch transaction opens in a new window, then the main window loads the base page of the transaction launcher into the work area.
    If this indicator is set and a launch transaction opens in a new window, then the main window keeps its current content in the work area.
    Dependencies
    This indicator is only evaluated if you have also set the indicator for using a new window.

  • Configure BP Overview component to launch in New Window

    I would like to be able to configure the BP overview window to open in a New Window when the user clicks on a link in the Navigation Bar, using the context of an activity transaction, using the BP for the Activity Partner.  I'm sure I should be able to create a logical link and do this without any coding?
    Could anyone help me with how I could achieve this.  Most important is that it needs to launch in a new window.

    Hi,
    You can use the Stateful option during the Transaction Launcher creation to open ECC tran. in new window.

  • Query in BPS Web Interfaces - Open in New Window

    Hello,
    I am trying to insert a BW Query into a web interface but have it launch in a new window.  I know how to have it open in the web interface by using a text box.  In July of 05 I found an answer from Marc Bernard on a similar topic, but with a query returning variables.  When I tried to use the code, I got an error.  I know that I can create a URL with Target="_Blank" but I don't want to hard code the full URL of the web report because the default host and port will change with the systems.  I tried the following URL in hopes that would inherit the system but it doesn't work.
    http://<default_host>:<default_port>/sap/bw/BEx?cmd=ldoc&infocube=EPABUDGET&query=EPA322BR
    Here is the code I have for the report.   Can someone tell me how to open in a new window or how to get the URL to work?
    <iframe
        id="BWReport01"
        name="BWQUERY"
        src="/sap/bw/BEx?cmd=ldoc&infocube=EPABUDGET&query=EPA322BR"
        width="900"
        height="800">
    Frames are not supported.
    </iframe>
    Thanks,
    Cherie

    Hi Cherie,
    you are on the right track. Just use a href="/sap/bw/bex..." target="_blank". If you need the URL to be more dynamic, use javascript with window.open.

  • Open in new tab not working properly. How can I get it to stop opening new windows?

    Firefox recently updated and my + open new tab button was gone. I found and downloaded the extension to put it back on, which is now gone but never worked. I have checked options>tabs and it is supposed to be opening new tabs. I can click file open new tab and it still opens everything in a new window. I've loved firefox for several years but if this isn't fixable quickly I'm gone. Can anyone help?

    You definitely should not need an extension to get a new tab button!
    Do you have any tab related extensions now, such as Tab Mix Plus or Tab Utilities?
    Try resetting your toolbar layout by renaming the file that stores customizations. Firefox should returns to the default settings for toolbars and windows. Here's how:
    (1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
    Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
    (2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
    (3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something else, like localstore-bad.rdf or localstore.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
    (4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.
    Any luck?
    With respect to links launching in new windows instead of tabs, the checkbox in the Options dialog should work but there is an exception for scripted windows that have certain parameters set (e.g., dialog style with no toolbars, or a specific size). Launching a link out of a dialog, which is not allowed to have extra tabs in the window, also will launch either a new window or be added to an existing window. Any chance the problem is related to those situations?

  • Event triggered by iView Opening in New Window

    Hi Portal Developers,
    I'm trying to write an iView will exist as an invisible iView on the default framework page and listen for the event of an iView opening a new window. However, I can't find an event that distinguishes between an iView opening in a new window or an iView opening in the existing content area.
    For example, as a test to capture the event that is occurring, I have the following block of javascript that displays a message when a user navigates around in the Portal using some different Portal events.
    <script language ="JavaScript">
    EPCM.subscribeEvent("urn:com.sapportals:navigation", "*", onNewWindow);
    EPCM.subscribeEvent "urn:com.sapportals.portal:browser", "*", onNewWindow);
    function onNewWindow( eventObj) {
    "Got an Event from: " + eventObj.eventName);}
    </script>
    All this returns when a I click on an iView that opens in a new window is "Navigate", which is no different from when an iView is clicked that does not open in a new window. I've looked through the SAP-delivered javascript files and I've also done an HTTP Trace hoping to find exactly what is happening when an iView is launched in a new window.
    A trace I ran indicates that the js13_spcf.js file is called when an iView is launched in a new window. In this file, I see that there is a "mode" parameter that is passed to the "Navigate" event that I'm subscribing too. For the Open in New Window option, this seems to be set to a value of 2, which makes sense. Is there anyway I can read this "Mode" value of the event that is raised as I subscribe to the event from my iView? Any other suggestions are welcome as well!
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
    For an iView opening in a new window to communicate with an iView on the default framework, a "bridge" needs to exist.
    That's where EPCMPROXY from epcfproxy.js comes into play.
    In the iView that is opening up in a new window, you can raise an event such as,
    var win_id = EPCMPROXY.getUniqueWindowId();
    EPCMPROXY.raiseEvent("urn:com.sapportals.portal:browser", "", "", win_id);
    Hope it helps,
    - Teecheu

    when I launch firefox get the following message "firefox is already running, but is not resonding. to open a new window, you must first close the existing firefox process, or restart your system" firefox not running and a restart doesn't solve the problem

    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
    *Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Launching a Bex web report in KM in a new window

    Hi All,
    I am trying to figure out how to configure KM so that it would launch a Bex web report in a new window
    instead of being displayed in the innerpage area.  The Bex web report is stored in a KM folder.
    Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mel Calucin
    Bentley Portal Architect

    Hi Mel,
    If you have already assigned the Bex report to a role, then you can open the  bex iview and edit the property "Launch in New Window" to Display in separate portal window
    If the report is still not created and is existing in the KM you can create a KM navigation iview or KM document iview and specify the document path where the iview is exisiting OR you can open the bex report, capture the URL of it and create a URL iview for the same... you might want to refer to this thread for more details.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/thread?threadID=1260067&tstart=0
    And when the iview is ready and the content is getting displayed accordingly, if you want to open the iview in a new window instead of the portal content area, you would have to follow the instructions given above ie to edit the property of iview "Launch in New Window" to Display in separate portal window
    Good Luck!

    Long story short: Simply get CC for teams. At 500 bucks a year it's a steal and those 5 licenses in the base package (or was it 10 even?) cover all your computers, at least the 3 ones you mentioned. For system requirements refer to the individual product pages.

  • PDF in browser: launch web page in new window/tab

    Good morning all,
    Our forms use the hyperlink functionality and the desired result is to have the web page launch in a new browser window, or tab, when viewing the PDF in a browser. When the web page opens in the same window, the form data is lost after hitting the back button to return to the form content.
    The current alternative is to use xfa.host.launchURL() function however we're wondering if there is a Preference setting in Reader we could enable/disable instead. Most of the links are text embedded in paragraph so hyperlinks work and look really good.
    Changing the internet options of the browser is not an option for us.
    Also looked at Reader's Edit | Preferences | Documents | Open Cross-document Links in Same Window which appears quite promising based on the Help's description:
    Open Cross-document Links In Same Window
    Closes the current document and opens the document being linked to in the same window, minimizing the number of windows open. If the document being linked to is already open in another window, the current document is not closed when you click a link to the open document. If you do not select this option, a new window opens each time you click a link to a different document.
    But for some reason I can't explain, the web page still opens in the same window after disabling the cross-document option. So maybe I should rephrase my question and ask if someone knows any reason why option doesn't work?
    Thanks much!
    Hélène

    Hi Hélène,
    I don't know of any option to force hyperlink behaviour when the form is opened in a browser.
    Have a look at George's suggestion to use a button without fill or border over the text: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1342426#1342426
    It is a bit of double handling and you need to maintain the button in the correct position. However it does give you greater control in forcing a new browser window/tab.
    The open cross-documents preference didn't work for us either.
    When testing forms here we see a big difference in behaviour between different browsers and OS. So while you may get a hyperlink working in IE, the same solution may not work in other browsers. On balance I think overlaying a button would be the most robust.
    Good luck,
    Niall
