Launch programs at startup without showing its windows? [SOLVED]
I want to launch at startup yakuake and korganizer daemon but I would like they don't show its windows. I know it can be done because before I loss my .kde4 folder I had that way, but I cannot remember/find how do it.

I found the solution by myself: just remove the "%u" of the yakuake command entry and uncheck korganizer from autostart applications in preferences

Firefox hangs on any attempt to launch with only about 20K showing in Windows Vista Task Manager.
I am using Firefox version 6. Under Windows Vista Home Edition Premium, the application attempts to launch, but it hangs with only about 20K showing loaded in Task Manager. It will stay with only that small amount of RAM used for extended (several hours) period of time with no change, and no launch. It normally will show a launch if it has loaded 110K or more as a general rule. It will load in Safe Mode with all add-ins cut off, and I will continue to use it in this mode until I can find a fix that will work with all of the things loaded that I want to run. Thank you for your time.
I know that I can load Firefox 6.0.2 in Safe Mode with all add-ons disabled, and it will run fine. Maybe I should just settle for this for now.

Executing system command (third party program) from extend script without showing console on windows
I am using following code on mac:
app.system("/path/to/external/executable &");
It runs external program in background (without showing console/terminal).
On windows I tried many things like:
app.system('start "" "/path/to/external/executable"');
app.system('start "" /B "/path/to/external/executable"');
And I was also trying to solve it using visual basic.
Unfortunately everytime I use app.system(...) then windows console is showed on the screen for half of the second, then it disappears and progrm runs in background. Is it possible to avoid showing console window? Maybe there is another way of executing third party program?You can try to save a vbscript :

Upon starting FF and going to my Home Page, I have no Bookmarks or Tabs showing. I have to Re-load the Bookmark Tabs. My options at Startup are "Show my Windows & Tabs from last time" Also using the Firefox exit,it does not ask to save tabs & windows on Exit. I'm getting tired of adding Bookmark Tabs each time I want to use FF.
It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

AS/CS3 open document without showing window

I'm pretty new to scripting and mostly I've used Applescript to script InDesign.
In InDesign you can open a file without showing the window, which often speeds up the script.
I cannot figure out how to tell Photoshop to open a file without showing the window.
Is this possible?

Launch and hide invisible program at startup

I have been looking round various forums but cant find an answer. Hopefully someone can help.
Problem:
We have 20 computers that all need to run a program at login (Its a 3d render client). We need the program not to appear in the dock so I have edited the .plist file in the package contents thus making the program run without a dock or taskbar. However, the actual program window remains, allowing users to close the program.
What I need:
To open the program on startup, be invisible and hide itself.
I have tried a few scripts that launch it on startup. This works, but the next line doenst work to hide the program. I believe this is because the program is invisible (making it a background task) the finder command to hide or minimise has no effect.
I have also tried the simple procedure of adding it to startup items and checking "hide".
Any help would be most appreciated.Its a client piece of software that allows 3d images from maxons cinema 4d to be rendered across a network. Under normal circumstances there would be no need to have this program running in the background or for it to be invisible to the dock. However. As everyone logs on in the morning this software starts on their machine. Their first instinct is to close it, which means that if I was to submit a job to the network it would not distribute it to the machines whose window has been closed. I want the software to start but be hidden so it cant be closed.
The only window that opens is a type of status/console window. So it would say what jobs are currently rendering or which have finished etc. -

It's the Resume feature.
When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
Also, you can hold the shift key to disable resume on a one time basis.
You can turn off Resume globally by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State and deleting that folder.
(note that the User Library is hidden - one way to get there is to go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library")
To turn off autosave and versions globally
If you're experiencing slow opening apps or windows since upgrading to ML... as I have... and you don't want your OS to automatically save your TextEdit files, etc. then simply disable Autosave and Versions via Terminal.
If you don't want autosave or resume you can copy & paste this command into Terminal at the prompt...
defaults write -g ApplePersistence -bool no
Press return
Now reboot.
The reverse would be "yes". -
Can't launch the organizer in Elements 13. "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." This happed with Elements 11, too.

Do you have any version of Premiere Elements 13 or only Photoshop Elements 13 which comes with Elements Organizer 13?
Let us look at the following for Elements Organizer 13....
1. Deletion of disabling the Elements Organizer 13 setting file which is named psa.prf. In Windows 7, 8, o 8.1 64 bit, it is found in the
path
Local Disk C
Users
Owner
AppData
Roaming
Adobe
Elements Organizer
13.0
Organizer
and in the Organizer Folder is the psa.prf file that you delete or disable by renaming it from psa.prf to psa.prfOLD.
2. If the above gains you successful entry into the Elements Organizer 13, then you can
a. create a new catalog
and/or
b. repair or optimize the current one
See Elements Organizer 13/File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager.
3. There are times that certain formats will bring the Elements Organizer down when you try to import those formats into
it. But, from what you wrote, your current problems do not sound media related.
3. At your earliest opportunity, please update Elements Organizer 13 to 13.1 using its Help Menu/Updates.

I develop a software that starts at server startup without login, it works fine with older versions of Windows Server (2003, 2008) with 2012 my executable program that starts only when a session is opened (administrator or user).
My program uses a 32bit architecture it is found in:

I get a small window on bottom RH side of my screen with "suggested sites" Usually the very site I am on. I right click on this window and it does not act alike a normal window, cannot close it or view its source. It does state that Eboom is providing suggestions.
Also something, i think this malware or BHO is trying to redirect my webpage. I have set up Firefox to not redirect. That helps a little. Also opening links in new tab seems to help.
I reviewed my add-ons and extensions and nothing unusual. I have tried to look for something in history and I have found very little. I have run multiple malware, spyware, adware, and virus Scans. Used Malwarebyte, SuperAntispyware, Norton, and Exterminator from PC Pitstop, all to no help. I have looked up this information and all I find is an issue with a toolbar on IE. I do not get a toolbar.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

Actually the senario is when i click on a button, another jsp page should be displayed in a modal window without popup, but the functions alert() and confirm() will not accept the url path of the another jsp page... -

However, when I talked to her over the phone, she is definitely using Firefox. I tried to access her Internet Explorer, but it has been deactivated, I believe by Firefox.
She primarily uses the Internet to communicate with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Her e-mail account is with Yahoo Mail, and she uses Firefox to access it. Occasionally, she uses the web to look up information, and may have downloaded a virus.
Do you think there's something in Yahoo Mail that conflicts with Firefox? Is there some remnant of Internet Explorer that needs to be deactivated? Could she have a virus?
Any information would be gratefully appreciated. I live 7 hours away, and can only help her over the phone. I'm trying to develop a course of action that I can use with her. I know a little bit about Firefox, so need your expertise. -
