  • Launching SAPGUI for Windows from WD application

    Hi,
I have managed to launch an SAPGUI transaction "BRF+" at the click of a link on my Web Dynpro application. For this, I used the sample code from Reg calling Transaction code in Webdynpro ABAP
However, this opens the SAPGUI for HTML, where the transaction is not rendered correctly. The display is restricted only to a small of the IE screen, and no button clicks are working.
Is there any way to fix this? Or, is it possible to launch SAPGUI for Windows from a WD application?
    Thanks, Rohan.

    Hi..
You are accessing Tcode in browser, it means we have to use sap gui for html only not windows.
The display is restricted only to a small of the IE screen
Do you mean, tcode opens in minimize window mode? if yes, then in create_external_window method ,  try to maximize the window by default.

  • Launch SAPGui from iview?

    Hello,
SAPGui is inatalled on each user box, we can launch the SAPGui thick client from an iview (to run on a seperate window).
How can I pass (R/3 logon) parameters to the SAPGui command line?
    Thank you
    AAAttar
    eg:
would a batch file with saplogon then sapgui work?
    DOS command prompt [CMD]
    saplogon.exe -user=... -password=... -system=QAS123 -client=001 -tcode=session_mananger
    SAPGui...

    Hi Aater,
    1. Create a (R/3) system for user mapping and define it's system alias.
    2. Maintain your user mapping details.
    3. Create a SAP Transaction iView that refers to the system alias, with GUI type "Win GUI".
You can look for more information about this in the applicable administration guide for your EP version on http://help.sap.com and search for "SAP GUI for Windows".

  • Open a SAPGUI transaction from a Java web application

    Hi all,
We are in the process of developing a Java based web application with SAP J2EE engine - but not SAP Enterprise Portal. One of the requirements we have is from one of the web screens there needs to be a button which launches SAPGUI and take the user to a particular transaction in SAPGUI. The  user is going to have SAPGUI installed on their desktop.
We were planning to user SAP Shortcut technique for launching the SAPGUI but the issue with that is the user has to logon each time ( even thought it is possible to have the password stored - even then there will be other messages that the user has to pass through before reaching the final  transaction ). The users are going to have a number of items in the screen and they need to go through this for every item.
I was wondering if there is anyway this can done so that the user does not have to go through all these steps ( BTW, the user is already authenticated on the web application and so functionally done not have to be authenticated again).
ANy suggestions will be highly appreciated.

  • SAPGUI for Windows via Portal - problem with frame

We are launching SAPGUI for Windows via Portal to drive single sign-on via AD.  Our problem is that when SAPGUI launches, it is contained within an IE browser frame that causes some of the SAPGUI screens to not fit on the screen well.  Those same screens fit just fine if we launch SAPGUI directly.
Is there any way to launch SAPGUI from Portal, with SSO enabled, but without the IE frame around it?

    Lonny,
The best way to authenticate users when they logon using SAP GUI for Windows, is to use SNC authentication in SAP GUi. Then, the browser iview will launch the GUI and the GUI will authenticate the user using their AD credentials issued during the Windows logon. You will need to setup an SNC library on both the ABAP system which the user is logged onto, and the workstation where SAP GUI is installed.
If you don't use SNC, and you just launch SAP GUI for Windows from browser, then an SSO2 ticket is used to authenticate the user to the ABAP stack, and this is not secure due to the fact that the SAP GUI session which is used to pass the SSO2 ticket is not protected - anybody can intercept the SAP GUI session, take the SSO2 ticket from this traffic and logon as that user - clearly this is bad security and needs SNC to make it secure.
    Thanks,

  • Does SAP support JVM 1.5.0 for the SAPgui 6.40 Rev 6 for the Mac?

On Tuesday evening, Apple released a software update for Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 4 for Mac OS X v10.4.5 or later. When you install the update, it will change the default version of Java virtual machine from Java 1.4.2 to Java 1.5.0. Apple also posted instructions for changing the default back to Java 1.4.2 at <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303526>.
When I launch SAPgui 6.40 Rev 4 or SAPgui 6.40 Rev 6 for the Mac, they both now use JVM 1.5.0. Does SAP support that, or should I follow Apple's instructions for changing the default JVM back to 1.4.2?
Here is the information from the "About SAPgui" boxes.
SAPGUI for Java 6.40 rev 4
    (Version ID 064000040400)
    Build: Thu Sep 1 02:10:41 MEST 2005 on uw1059
Java VM: Apple Computer, Inc. Version 1.5.0_06-64
OS: Mac OS X(ppc) Version 10.4.6
APGUI for Java 6.40 rev 6

    Build: Wed Dec 21 13:01:37 MET 2005 on uw1059
Java VM: Apple Computer, Inc. Version 1.5.0_06-64
OS: Mac OS X(ppc) Version 10.4.6

    Hello,
as indicated in the system requirements of SAP GUI for Java 6.40, JRE 1.4.2 is the only supported Java version on any of the platforms including Mac OS X.
Current Mac versions of SAP GUI for Java 6.40 unfortunately do not block usage of JRE 5.0 after installing Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 4, which causes latter to become the Java default.
We have discovered this recently and starting with the next revision of SAP GUI for Java 6.40 we will make sure that it uses JRE 1.4.2 independent from the Java default.
Until then, it is required to change the Java default back to 1.4.2 like described in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303526 in order to avoid unpredictable issues.
It is planend to support JRE 5.0 with the upcoming SAP GUI for Java 7.00 on all platforms including Mac OS X.

  • SAPGUI via NWBC

    Hi,
Can we launch SAPGUI from the NWBC thick client system selection screen so the users can go directly to SAPGUI instead of NWBC?

No but SAP GUI for Windows will be used for any transaction launched from NWBC for Desktop assuming it is installed and both are properly configured.

  • EP6 Transaction iView Shortcut... need a little help from my friends

    Hi All,
I've noticed an issue regarding Workplace compatibility mode when launching SAPGUI for Windows from a Transaction iView.  By default Workplace compatibility is set to "true", however, we need this to be "false".
If I save the shortcut file generated by the portal and open in a text editor I can see this:
    [Configuration]
    Workplace=true
If I change this on my desktop to "false" and start SAPGUI it works as expected.
Anyone have any ideas how to set this property from the portal?
A fix is described for EP5 in SAP Note # 631555 but I'm finding nothing on EP6.
    Help is always greatly appreciated!!
    -Adam

    Hi Adam,
    Request your inputs please.
There is a portal iview having link to connect R/3 system (EP 6 to R/3 4.6C). When the user clicks the link in the iview, before the R/3 system opens, it gives a error saying
<b>"Not all data for SAP GUI shortcut is available. System ID is unknown, Client is unknown, Enter the missing data"</b>If I click OK, a new window opens saying <b>"New SAPGUI shortcut</b>"
In that window it is asking for descrption, SID, SAPGUI parameter, etc...
I checked the SAP system created in the portal and all the parameters including the Application host, port, system aliases, etc are fine and I can open the SAP window from the support desk.
In the iview also I checked all the settings are absolutely fine.
The GUI type is WINGUI and the How to Start SAPGUI for windows I have given SSF only.
Still I am not sure what is missing. If I change the SSF to “auto” the transaction opens in a new browser.
The issue is this..... EP 6.0, created a System for Dev R/3 (4.6C) and given all the required information for all possible property category like SAP client, SID, system #, port, etc, etc. system type is SAP_R3. User management, Logon method is SAPLOGONTICKETS and user mapping type is "admin, user".
No ITS information is given since we only open the session_manager of R/3 thru the iView.
This opens the R/3 most of the times. But sometimes the user gets the error.
If I use “auto” instead of SSF the SAP transaction is opening within the iview portal window itself. But earlier it used to open as a typical separate SAP R/3 window.
So I also changed the Drag&relate option to open in a new portal window. Now it is opening in a new window, but unlike the earlier one, the SAP windows is inside a browser window. So the create new session button and all are not active. Moreover the client is cruel enough and very particular to say they want it to open as an individual SAP R/3 window and not inside a browser.
I tried to follow note 631555, but as per that I am not able to find the SAPApplication.Transaction iveiw.
The error does not occur always and in all the systems. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards,
    P. Kumaravel.

  • Profile Parameter: login/password_logon_usergroup

Does anyone know if you can enter multiple User Groups in the parameter: login/password_logon_usergroup?  If so, what is the format for entering multiple values?
    Background information:
We are using SSO to authenticate to Enterprise Portal.  From there, the user will launch SAPGUI to  logon to the backend (ERP2005).  The authentication method to the backend is SAP logon ticket.
We have implemented the parameter "login/disable_password_logon = 1" to globally disable password logon.  We want to use the parameter "login/password_logon_usergroup" to allow several user groups to continue to log on via username and password.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Thanks for the recommendation.  I think it would be a "nice to have".  I can still accomplish the end result by deactivating the passwords of the SSO users via SU10.
However, I did find that I even users in the single group named in this parameter could not logon after I changed it to a single group.  I tried a couple different values.  Do you have any suggestions of things to look at before submitting an OSS message?  The system is ECC 6.0 (NW2004s)
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Error 255 launching Bex 3.x for SAPGUI 7.20 on Win 7

    Hi,
We are upgrading our workstations to Win 7 and rolling out SAPGUI 7.20 at the same time.  We are getting error 255 when launching the Bex 3.x browser.
This is relating to the theme files (which shows the little logo in the top right of the Business Explorer).
The path to these files is:
C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\themes\bw\<SID> with the .bmp file being called wdbblogo.bmp.  I have reviewed note 209448 to see if we could avoid this problem by removing our company logo from Bex but the note states that this file must exist even if it is a blank bitmap.
    I have tried the following:
    1. do a 7.20 GUI install (incl BW 3.x tools) and then manually create
the subdirectory ... themes\bw\BWT (where BWT is out test system sid)
and then create the file wdbblogo.bmp. The result of this was that a
non admin user could start bex browser but get an error 255 the FIRST
time only that they logon to BWT but after that it seems to work fine.
However, the error 255 is quite hidden and to the user it appears the
application is hanging (if we ctrl-tab to the error 255 and close it
the app loads). But then if another user logs onto the workstation
then they get an error 255 the first time too.
    2. I also tried just creating the subdirectory (for our BWD system)
without creating the file but then got another error saying it could
not create the file under themes\bw\BWD. Did not pursue this further
as this was worse than scenario 1 where we created the file.
    3. As administrator I created the subdirectory and file (BWP + .bmp
file)for our BWP system and then gave all users full access to the bw
directory and all files underneath. As a normal user we logged on and
STILL got the error 255 the first time a user logs on which suggests
that something else is going on.
Has anyone else had this problem.  Is there another workaround?  I do have a message in with SAP to try to find a resolution.  It is not going to be acceptable for our rollout to tell users to just ignore this error 255 the first time they logon to the system (assuming they can even find the error message).
    Thank You
    Felicity

  • Microsoft apps (outlook/Excel etc) do not work after SAPGUI 720 install

    Hello,
We use a tool called MARIMBA to package and deploy SAPGUI and other apps to our users. Recently, we packaged SAPGUI 720 and deployed to some end-users (Win XP 32-bit SP3, Win 7 enterprise) via Marimba. However, after SAPGUI gets pushed to the end-user computers, users complain that their Microsoft apps don't work or are missing! Few users report Symantec Anti-virus does not launch.
I am not sure if this is unique to our environment. Please report here if you have encountered similar situation.
    Thanks for your time.

You software is too old. You need to move to Office 2008, 2011 or use iWork or use Open Office (or Libre Office, or NeoOffice, etc.)
