Launching from web a form in debug mode (?!)

Hello,
I have Developer Suite 10g with WebUtil 1.6. I am playing with a form, which has an attached library from which use a function. This function doesn't function properly and I would like to debug it.
Problem: in Forms Developer, when I launch the form in DEBUG MODE, it launches my form using the webutil configuration section. The URL looks like this:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
I need to launch the form with another configuration section and at the same time in debug mode.
How should I do this?
Thank you in advacne for the help.
daniela

forms-builder:
look at Edit-Preferences, go to the last tab (Runtime) and then look at "Application Server URL"
there you can change the used section of your forms builder configuration

    Kanish,
    Lets start with a few of the basics, shall we. What JVM are you using (Jinit or Sun JRE and the version)? Based on the error you posted, I can infer that you are using Forms 10.1.2.0? Are you running a custom configuration in the formsweb.cfg and default.env? This could be the cause if you have modified the CLASSPATH setting in the default.env excluding core .jar files.
    Typically, the FRM-92101 error is caused by a Java error; either a .jar is not found or invalid or not compatible with JVM, etc.
    Have you tried clearing your Java Cache to check for a corrupt .jar?
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

    Hi Manoj,
    You can do it directly from felix console. just go to http://<host>:<port>/system/console/slinglog there you will see all log files. under first table "Log Level" you will see all the log files and besides to that you will have configuration option, just go there and set log level for each of log files and save it.
    Let me know if you need more information.

  • Is it possible to extract a VI from an executable which has debug mode enabled?

    It is a curiosity question from a client.
    Is it possible to extract a VI from an executable which has debug mode enabled?
    Since the block diagram would not be in edit mode....  Is it possible to "peer" into the executable, look at a VI and recover the block diagram?  This owuld be for a deleted VI that is part of an executable which had debug mode enabled..
    Did anyone try this?
    Curious..

    Extract VIs from an EXE?  No problem.  Even if debugging isn't enabled you can extract VIs, they just won't have block diagrams, and may not have front panels depending on if they were removed in the EXE making process.
    Attached is an example project for making an EXE, the EXE itself, and a VI for extracting VIs from the EXE.  The code is quite primative and it was just meant to demonstrate how this can be done.
    To extract the Main.vi from the Application.exe, run Extract Main.vi from EXE.vi, provide the path to the EXE and the path to where the VI should be saved and then run the VI.  This VI will set keys in the INI file for the application, then run th EXE.  Then it opens an application reference to the EXE, then opens a VI reference to Main.vi.  Then it aborts Main.vi, and extracts it.

  • Launching Browser Window from Web Deployed Forms App.

    Has anyone launched a new browser instance on the client within a web deployed forms application? We have browser based help within our application. In the client/server version, we used the built-in HOST command to launch the browser when the help button is clicked. However, this does not work in a web deployed situation. First, because we are deploying the application on a Solaris box, and it does not recognize the host command, and second even if we could it would launch the browser on the server. Can I do something with java or javascript?

    Why don't you use the web.show_document(url, '_blank') built-in?

  • Link Parameters from Report to Form in Insert Mode

    It seems like it should be possible to use the Report wizard to add a link to a form, select some link parameters using the Edit Link function, and then when one clicks on the link it would open the form in insert mode with the link parameters filled in as defaults. Instead what happens is it tries to open the form in update mode with a row that matches the link parameters, and if it can't find a match it opens in insert mode with no parameters filled in. I want it to always open in insert mode and with the passed parameters filled in.
    I've looked through all the documentation I have access to and have been through all the Portal FAQ's on OTN and can find nothing on this. There were a few questions in the FAQ's that told how to do it in PL/SQL, but I don't know how to get access to which instance of the link was selected by the user through PL/SQL, and it seems like there should be a way to do this from within the report wizard.
    Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Jim Bladen

    If your report is created using ‘Reports From SQL Query’ then you can modify it using the following to achieve this:
    1. Remove the link from ‘Column Formatting’ section of the report object.
    2. In the SQL of the report , use custom link to the column where you want to provide link using the syntax
    select a.empno,’‘||a.ename||’‘ ename_link,a.deptno
    from scott.emp a
    Order by a.empno
    and the form will always open in ‘INSERT’ mode with passed values filled in.

  • Pass Parameters to an external appl when launched from web dynpro ABAP .

    I want to Pass Paramaters to an external application when launced from Web dynpro ABAP . I have successfully launched an .exe file ( Notepad / eViewHSEditor ) from Web dynpro using the logic from Standard WD_TEST_APPL_ACFEXECUTE component  But I am unable to Pass paramters to the .exe file .
    example :-  I would like to pass parameters  text1 text2 in the arugement list and I expect it opens an untitled notepad and in the file it will have parameters text1 text2 . But it is behaving in a different way . Below are the detailed steps of what I have done .
    The steps that I followed :-
    1)  Right now I have created the white list Configuration for Notepad.exe
    2) I have created 1 and 2 postions both of type string and permission Legal .
    3) The Paramter Value is * for both 1 and 2 .
    4) I activated the whitelist and it generated an .XML file
    5)
              application = 'C:
    WINDOWS
    system32
    notepad.exe'.
              argument = 'text1 text2' .
              co_element :- I am reading the element from the conrtext .
          co_element = wd_context->get_lead_selection( ).
          co_element_stru-attribute_name = 'ERROR'.
          co_element_stru-element = co_element.
          wd_this->acf_method_handler->if_wd_acfexecute~execute( application =  application
                                                                 argumentlist = argument
                                                                 errorinformation = co_element_stru ).
    when i execute  the application , it is trying to launch a notepad with file  'text1  text2.txt'  and it doesn't have one , it is asking do you want to create .  If You yes, it will open notepad with name 'text1 text2.txt' . If you Pass abcd in the arugement list , if the file with name abcd.txt exists , it opens the notepad with that file name .

    You try to open notepad from your PC with the same command, you will the same result.
    start->run->notepad "test1 test2". You get the popup saying that "test1 test2" file is not existing. You can google it to find a way to pass the text while opening notepad and try to fit that in your WebDynpro argument. I doubt if it is possible though.

  • Running Forms in Debug Mode (appletviewer / J-Initiater)

    Hi All,
    I have a sitiuation where i would like to run a form with debug_messages='YES'. The form is compiled under Forms 4.5 16 bit Windows 95. It is run with J-Initiater under a NCA enviroment. Is there a command parameter to run the fmx in debug mode, probably as a applet parameter or something.
    Thanks,

    Attaching to a Form running outside the builder
    The advantage of attaching the debugger to a Form that runs outside of the Builder is that the Form can be running on a different machine other than the one debugging it. The configuration gives an end user the opportunity to run the Form and encounter errors while the developer debugs interactively with the user.
    To start debugging a Form that runs outside the Builder, the Form must be invoked with the parameter Debug=yes passed in the URL. This parameter will invoke a dialog that displays the host name and port number.
    In the Forms Builder, open the FMB for the running Form, and select Debug | Attach Debug. You'll need to supply the host name and port number to start debugging the running Form.

  • Personalization fails when CZ launched from web page

    I have been struggling with this problem from a long time now but havent been able to figure out the solution.
    I have added export button via personalization on Summary page (/oracle/apps/cz/runtime/oa/webui/templates/buttonBar/regions/SummaryPageButtonBar) to export the data in spreadsheet .
    This is site level personalization. Export button works fine in configurator when its launched from OM, Quoting, custom oracle form used to launch configurator for vewing booked orders and saved quotes.
    Problem lies here :
    I developed a custom OAF page and lanched configurator from that page. I am able to launch configure and save the session. But this export button fails and gives me null pointer exception.
    Any suggestion in this direction would help me greatly.
    I had posted the question in OAFramework forum but got no solution. May be its a wrong place to ask configurator question.

  • How to get the Response Code when a URL is launched from Web Dynpro

    Hello Experts,
    I have a Web Dynpro Application in which in one of its views i have an IFrame UI element in which i will show a resource stored somewhere ..
    But before showing it i want to check if the resource actually exists. For this i have to check the HTTP Response code from Web Dynpro Application without setting it in the Iframe..
    I am using the following code to get the Response Code:
    try{
    URL url = new URL("Some Url");
    HttpURLConnection.setFollowRedirects(false);
    HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    connection.connect();
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Response code ="+connection.getResponseCode());
    }catch(Exception e){
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Exception");
    Now the Problem is whatever response Code occurs 403 (for No Proper Authorization), 404 (for Resource not found) etc..
    i always get Response Code=  500 (which is for Internal Server Error) shown in the messgae i have printed.
    Please let me know the correct way of getting the Response Code from Web Dynpro.
    Also my resource is lying on a SAP Portal 6.4

  • Internet Explorer 9 and not able to print from web in fast/economical printer mode anymore

    After downloading Internet Explorer 9 I cannot print in fast/economical mode any email through windows mail or documents via the web. I can still print my own documents this way. It says they will be printed this way but they are not. I use Windows Vista and have an HP D1560 Printer. Any answer to this? Thanks.

    Hi stephandery ,
    Firefox uses the system default printer.
    Re-set your default printer settings. Start > Settings > Printers. Right click on your printer icon and select Set As Default Printer.
    Open Firefox (close and reopen if already open) and type about:config in the address bar. Look for the pref print.print_printer using the filter and it should show you your system default printer. If there is nothing there, enter it yourself by a right click and use the 'modify' option and insert the text for the printer exactly as shown in - Start > Settings > Printers.
    Hope this time your problem will be fixed.....
