  • Launchpad show "server offline", but the server is running

    Greetings,
    I have a MS-Server 2012 Essential and it work very fine many years.
    But now the Launchpad on my client is showing "Server offline"!
    I have installed Teamviewer on my server and I can connect from the internet to my server.
    Also a ping to my server works fine.
    But the Launchpad and the path \\<Server-Name> in the file explorer does not work.
    Can you help me, where I can find the error?
    Thank you!
       Michael

  • 2012 Essentials Launchpad reports server is offline

    I have a new clean install of Windows Server Essentials 2012. The Server apears fully operational and is visable by network explorer and accessable by Windows remote desktop connection. When configuring http;//<myserver>/connect all workstations
    Launchpad reports "the server is offline. do you want to connect in offline mode. I can tell it yes, log on again and have access to my server drives however the Launchpad still reports the "server is offline" any sugestions how to correct this?

    Check your dashboard.log file (c:\programdata\microsoft\windows server\logs) for any errors please.

  • How to show a picture both on client and server at the same time (X11?)

    Hi Guys
    I want show a picture on my client as well as on the server(in another location) at the same time, pretty much like showing something both on laptop and on a projector. Assume I have a picture sssss.jpg on the server A1, if I want to open that picture to my client, I can simply to do the following from client A2:
    xhost A1
    telnet to and login A1
    setenv DISPLAY "ipaddress of A2":0.0
    Anyone can direct me how to show picture the client that I am sitting at an also show on the server at the same time?
    Thanks

    VNC would let you do that. With a shared connection, both machines could run a VNC client to the same session.

  • How to access the client PCs via RDP FROM Windows Server 2003

    Hopefully this is not an ignorant question, but every thread I've read focuses on client PCs not being able to access the terminal server. I have the opposite problem. I am working remotely and have full access to the servers (some of which are virtuals).
    I need to be able to connect to the various workstations, but I cannot.  Is this just a setting I have misconfigured?  Is there any software I can deploy to these PCs that will allow me to log in and update their workstations?
    Any help is sincerely appreciated.
    - Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
    Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
    You can able to take RDP for client system from server. But keep in mind that; client system can only allow 1 RDP session at a time for administrator purpose. For that you need to have permission for taking rdp session.
    Also you need to verify that “Remote Desktop Service” service is running and also need to verify the below thread as per snap.
    In addition, if you want to manage all the server and client system, then you can use Remote Desktop Connection Manager to manage all the client and server remotely.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • The Outgoing Mail Server is showing up as Offline

    The Outgoing Mail Server is showing up as Offline for a new email account I want to set up. How do I get this account on line?

    Mail (Yosemite): If you can’t send messages

  • Mac Mail  . . . Outgoing Mail Server shows all as (Offline)

    Frustrating problem: I had to reconfigure Mail because it wasn't working.
    My incoming works fine, but the outgoing doesn't. It shows any server as (Offline). Under 'Mail" on the menu bar 'Take All Accounts Online' is selected and dimmed.
    ISP is ATT Yahoo, and both incoming and outgoing mail works fine when accessing email through my browser (Safari).
    Any ideas on what to do?
    Many thanks,
    Ed in Dallas

    Hey Ed,
    First thing is to check what the Connection Doctor is saying under the Window menu.
    It'll take a few seconds but it should give you a good idea of the problem.
    If you are selectiing using SSL, check if the provider offers this service.
    If you don't know or can't find it use Applications->Utilities->Network Utility.
    Then select Port Scan and enter the smtp.address.com of the service.
    This will tell you for definite if the SSL service is offered.
    I usually find that you get the Offline message if your service provider doesn't
    offer the SSL service. Keep the setup simple and if it works then make it more
    complicated.
    A.

  • Automatic Updates of client PCs from Server

    Most of our users do not have permissions to install updates on their
    pc's. We need a service that will update the client pc's from the server automatically without the users input and also give the administrator a report after updating a PC
    We are running a Win Server 2012  & the client PCs are running Windows 7

    Most of our users do not have permissions to install updates on their pc's.
    Actually, unless you've explicitly blocked that capability (and I'm challenged to imagine you have done so based on this question here), then *ALL* users always have the capability to scan/install updates on a Windows 7 system.
    We need a service that will update the client pc's from the server automatically without the users input and also give the administrator a report after updating a PC
    This product is called WSUS (Windows Server Update Service). You're posting in the forum for THAT product.

  • Help needed with server essentials 2012 R2 client backup failing

    Help please.  I have installed WSE 2012 R2 on a new Lenovo TS140, everything seems to be working fine (I can map drives, browse folders, copy files back and forth to clients, run the server through dashboard from a client,
    run the server through remote desktop from a client, use remotewebaccess etc.  But I can't get ANY of my clients to backup to the server.  The connector finds the server, installs on the client and the launchpad runs and says 'connected to server',
    but when I try to run the backup, it fails after about 30 seconds and says "can't connect to server"...  This is all the same on clients that are Win 7 Home, Win 7 Pro, Win 8.1 pro and win 8.1 home, wired and wireless...  Have spent about
    a week researching, clean reinstalling, examining router config etc... no luck.  Any thoughts or direction for help appreciated.  I'm not using storage spaces, and have run drive scans which all show healthy drives (1 SDD - OS, and separate HDs for
    files and backups...

    Status is 'no backups available', and no indication of anywhere to check to start, configure or set a backup.  Though I do have the "client computer backup tasks" available over in the tasks panel on the right, but that just sets times for backups to
    occur.
    The system is backing itself up nightly, but no clients.
    I have a bunch of things listed on the BPA (probably as I did some tinkering based on other suggestions, and have tried to set up openDNS forwarding etc.  I'm not sure how to undo all that, so if a clean install would help I could do that rather
    easily..)  BPA partial results listed below...

    check revocation because the revocation server was offline. 0x80092013 (-2146885613).  The request was for CN=xxxxx.ourdomain.com.  Additional information: Error Verifying Request Signature or Signing Certificate
    A couple of months ago we decomissioned one of our old 2003 DCs and it looks like this server might have had something to do with the CA structure but I am not sure whether this was in use or not since I could find the role but I wasn't able to see any existing
    configuration.
    Let's say that this server was previously responsible for the certificates and was the server that should have revoked the old certs, what can I do know to try and correct the problem?
    Thank you for your help

    hello,
    let me recap first:
    you see these errors on a ROOT CA. so it seems like the ROOT CA is also operating as an ISSUING CA. Some clients try to issue a new certificate from the ROOT CA and this fails with your error mentioned.
    do you say that you had a PREVIOUS CA which you decomissioned, and you now have a brand NEW CA, that was built as a clean install? When you decommissioned the PREVIOUS CA, that was your design decision to don't bother with the current certificates that it
    issued and which are still valid, right?
    The error says, that the REQUEST signature cannot be validated. REQUESTs are signed either by itself (self-signed) or if they are renewal requests, they would be signed with the previous certificate which the client tries to renew. The self-signed REQUESTs
    do not contain CRL paths at all.
    So this implies to me as these requests that are failing are renewal requests. Renewal requests would contain CRL paths of the previous certificates that are nearing their expiration.
    As there are many such REQUEST and failures, it probably means that the clients use AUTOENROLLMENT, which tries to renew their current, but shortly expiring, certificates during (by default) their last 6 weeks of lifetime.
    As you decommissioned your PREVIOUS CA, it does not issue CRL anymore and the current certificates cannot be checked for validity.
    Thus, if the renewal tries to renew them by using the NEW CA, your NEW CA cannot validate CRL of the PREVIOUS CA and will not issue new certificates.
    But it would not issue new certificates anyway even if it was able to verify the PREVIOUS CA's CRL, as it seems your NEW CA is completely brand new, without being restored from the PREVIOUS CA's database. Right?
    So simply don't bother :-) As long as it was your design to decommission the PREVIOUS CA without bothering with its already issued certificates.
    The current certificates which autoenrollment tries to renew cannot be checked for validity. They will also slowly expire over the next 6 weeks or so. After that, autoenrollment will ask your NEW CA to issue a brand new certificate without trying to renew.
    Just a clean self-signed REQUEST.
    That will succeed.
    You can also verify this by trying to issue a certificate on an affected machine manually from Certificates MMC.

  • Domain client PCs are sending NTP to external source

    Hi,
    I have been monitoring too many NTP traffic going out through Sophos firewall and they are all blocked by default as it is not allowed.
    Client PCs are trying to get time information from many locations, how can I make PCs to get their time information from internal NTP server rather external NTP server?
    This is the list of IP address that internal PCs are trying to reach to get time information.
    207.57.100.235 grapeofwrath.com.au
    128.138.141.172 utcnist2.colorado.edu
    24.56.178.140 host-24-56-178-140.beyondbb.com 64.113.32.5 nist.netservicesgroup.com
    165.193.126.229 nist1-nj2.ustiming.org
    But I want domain PCs get their time from our PDC.

    Configure NTP settings via group policy:
    In a policy applied at the domain level, set clients to use the Windows hierarchy for time sync (domain members sync to domain controllers, domain controllers sync to the PDC emulator).
    See this on how to configure a WMI filter to identify the PDC emulator:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2008/11/13/configuring-an-authoritative-time-server-with-group-policy-using-wmi-filtering.aspx . Using this, configure a group policy ONLY targets the PDC emulator and target the domain controllers OU. Sett the settings
    below:
    NTP servers: tock.usno.navy.mil,0x9 time.windows.com,0xa
    (will set the .mil server to be primary, and time.windows.com to be the backup NTP source.)
    Type: NTP

  • Report Job Server goes Offline

    I've had a persistent problem with the Report Job Server in the CMC going offline (BO XI R2).  I try to stop/start but I get a message that the server is already in the requested state (started).
    I've tried disable/enable -- still it is offline and my reports won't run.
    I check the CCM and all the servers are running.  The Event Viewer in Windows shows that the Report Job Server has stopped..."Unable to contact server sccecho2.reportjobserver.jobserver to change its enabled status. Please restart it."
    The only way to get it started again is via a server reboot.  Then the reports will run.
    This problem seems to happen shortly before I have several reports scheduled to run and none of them get sent off due to the Report Job Server being offline.
    Is there something else I can check somewhere or other thoughts as to what is causing this persistent problem?
    Thank you for any help you can send my way.

    Hi Kim,
    Try creating a new Server and check the issue.

  • Oracle VM 3 Server System Offline

    Hi,
    I have some weird problem on Oracle VM Manager 3 Server Pool "testpool1" and I decided to reinstall one of the Oracle VM 3 server without remove from the pool (I'm actually having problem remove from the pool). After the installation complete, I can see the new Oracle VM '3' server show on Oracle VM Manager in "RED" color icon.
    My problem is I can't add the new server back to the pool and the Oracle VM Manager keep show me "SYSTEM OFFLINE"(I believe one of the Repository still belong to this server causing the problem which I can't see in the repository).
    Does anyone have the similar experience or any solution for this?
    Please help.

Can you issue a "Rediscover Server" from the context menu (right-click) on the server? Check the "Events" tab for details of any Critical warnings/events that cause the red icon. Also, perhaps try to delete the server in the UI and re-discover it.
    You may also be able to unpresent the repository from that server from the Repositories tab.

  • Some methods are displaying the result on the server instead on the client.

    When I test (form SeatReservationClient class) the method sri.showReservations() located in SeatReservationClient class the results are being displayed on the server side instead on the client but the method sri.numReservations() is displaying the result as i want it i.e. on the client. Please can anyone help me (as always on this forum) find a solution to this problem and display the results correctly?
    I have 5 classes:
    Interface
    public interface SeatReservationInterface extends java.rmi.Remote
         public boolean isReserved(int row, int seat) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
         public boolean reserve(int row, int seat) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
         public boolean cancel(int row, int seat) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
         public int numReservations() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    public void showReservations() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    Implementation
    public class SeatReservationImpl extends java.rmi.server.UnicastRemoteObject implements SeatReservationInterface
         private Seat[][] theatre;
         * Implementations must have an explicit constructor in order to declare the RemoteException
         * exception.
        * Theatre constructor makes a new movie theatre with numRows rows and numSeats
        * seats (chairs) in each row. All seats are unreserved (unoccupied) in the beginning.
        public SeatReservationImpl(int numRows, int numSeats) throws java.rmi.RemoteException
              theatre = new Seat[numRows][numSeats];
              for(int row = 0; row <theatre.length; row++)
              for(int col = 0; col<theatre[row].length; col++)
              theatre[row][col] = new Seat();
        * The method returns true if the seat at location (row, seat) is reserved.
        * The method returns false in all other cases.
        * Be careful that row numbers run from 1 to numRows, and seat numbers from
        * 1 to numSeats.
         public boolean isReserved(int row, int seat) throws java.rmi.RemoteException
             return theatre[row-1][seat-1].isOccupied();

         public boolean reserve(int row, int seat) throws java.rmi.RemoteException
              return theatre[row-1][seat-1].occupy();

    Your code is working as expected. The server executes System.out.println in showReservations() and this comes out on the server console. The client executes System.out.println() after calling numReservations and this comes out at the client. Any other expectations are misplaced.
