Layer7 policy for database vserver on CSM
Is it possible to define L7 policies on the CSM for a farm of databases? I am currently load balancing access to multiple databases with the CSM but we have a definite business need to have a dedicated DB farm for reads and one for writes. Is it possible to create a L7 policy on the CSM to inspect the packet for a "SELECT" or "INSERT" string at the vserver level and forward to the appropriate serverfarm? The only L7 policies I can see options for creating are all http based. Thank you.
Nope.
The CSM performs L7 only for HTTP (to inspect URLs, cookies or HTTP header) and HTTPS (when the SSL ID is needed for stickiness).
CSM also looks deeper into RTSP & FTP headers if you use service ftp or service rtsp commands.
"service ftp" or "service rtsp" options tell the CSM to interpret traffic to that VIP as FTP or RTSP control channel.
The CSM will then parse those control channels and automatically create the associate data channel/s.

Different Password Policy for Different User Groups in ACS 4.2
Hi All,
Can some one provide a solution for the below requirement?
We do have ACS 4.2 appliance managing firewalls of different clients. The users are common i.e, helpdesk administrators. One of the client came up with setting different password policy for managing their devices i.e, the client wants to have min 15 characters as password length. We do have currently 8 characters as min password length. Can we change the password policy to min 15 characters only for managing the firewalls of this client whereas for all other client firewalls we feel better to have 8 characters as min password length?
It seems that these password policies are global & affects all the users.
This is something like, having two sets of password (for each user) policy depending on the client which he is going to manage.
For my knowledge, i think that this is not possible. But, thought to cross-check with experts!
-Jags.Hi jags,
Yor're correct. Password policy on ACS will affect all internal user. We can't create different password policies for diferent clients/connections/set_of_users
Password validation options apply only to user passwords that are stored in the ACS internal database. They do not apply to passwords in user records in external user databases; nor do they apply to enable or admin passwords for Cisco IOS network devices.

PF attribute modification in Access Policy for existing users.
Hi Guys,
I have an access policy for provisioning a resource. Suppose if I make some changes for the process form attribute value inside the access policy,How can I have the same attribute value reflected in the process form of users who are already provisioned by the access policy?
Direct database update wont be a good idea here as I am having multiple access policies for the same resource. Is there any table which is having the relation between provisioned resource and curresponding access policy if at all I have to go for a custom scheduled task?
Thanks,Does this solution also supposed to work in OIM 11g? I Tried it but data on the main form does not get reflected on the process form of existing users. For child data it does work.

How to implement password policy for a software in oracle (sql) forms & reports 6i ?
Hi all , I have to implement password policy for an already existing software which was created 2 to 3 years before.
What exactly i want to do is I must alert the user every month to change his/her password. I have no idea about it.
Can anyone help me how to start with it? Or can you provide me the links where i can learn & implement in the software?
Oracle Forms & Reports Builder 6i.
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production.
Thank You.You can try this:
Establishing Security Policies
Using database policy, you can force user to change password with Oracle forms 6i.

Retention policy for specific backupset
Hi,
Actually I am envolved in a Proof Of Concept for Exadata. My customer wants to set a specific rentention for one backupset. These are the steps followed and the problem:
1. Perform a "backup as backupset" for database to disk.
2. Perform a "backup backupset" to tape for the backup of step 1.
3. Change the retention policy only for the backup of step 2 and set it to be kept until sysdate+x days.
Does anyone know how can be this done?
Best regards. You will need to create two different backup one to device type DISK with default retention and another backup to device type SBT_TAPE with specific retention.
The SAME backup (backupset) cannot have two different retention (even if it's a copy). The copy of backupset belongs to a Backup which already has it own retention.

Archivelog deletion policy for GG
Hi All,
We have GG on one of the database.
The archivelog is getting deleted before it is applied to GG. The archivelog needs to be restored manually to proceed GG to work properly.
This is very frequent. Now every time the archivelog needs to be restored manually.
As far is i know there is archivelog deletion policy is there for standby. which will not delete the archivelog until it is applied to standby.
Is there any policy for GG so that archivelog which is required by GG should not delete by RMAN until it is applied to GG.
Kindly suggest.
Thanks,Hi,
To ensure that RMAN retains all archive logs required by Oracle Golden Gate, when you add or register an Extract group in GGSCI with ADD EXTRACT (TRANLOG option) or REGISTER EXTRACT.
You can configure Extract to retain enough logs through RMAN for a normal recovery by using the TRANLOGOPTIONS parameter with the LOGRETENTION option set to SR.
You can read more about this feature in detail in the OGG Installation Guide on Oracle database, pages 58 & 59.

RMAN RETENTION POLICY FOR ORACLE8I
Dear all,
How to config RETENTION POLICY for oracle8i(CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 7 DAYS;), same 9i ?
Thanks for advance !
CharaIn ORACLE 8i, there are NO stored RMAN parameters (I believe, 9i was the first version to add this feature).
Instead, in ORACLE 8i you had to specify all channel parameters, formats etc in a run block ... So, the good news is, in ORACLE 8i these parameters should be already "hardcoded" in the RMAN scripts ... in other words, nothing to transfer on a database level ... -
Retention policy for archivelogs in the flash recovery area
I am using the flash recovery area for all my backup files (archive logs, data and control files). I want to use the redundancy retention policy because it is easy to calculate the space requirement. However, I am not clear how the retention policy applies to archive logs.
Say I set the retention policy to be "keeping 3 backups". How does it affect the archive logs? Will archive logs in the flash recovery area be deleted automatically or I need to do it manually. If they are deleted automatically just like dataset files, what is the "retention policy" for them? I do not have a tape device so all archive logs are going to be stay in disk.
Thanks.I am using the flash recovery area for all my backup

RMAN>AS documentation says
"Besides affecting datafile and control file backups, the retention policy affects archived logs and archived log backups.
First, RMAN decides which datafile and control file backups are obsolete. Then, RMAN considers as obsolete all archived
log backups that are older than the oldest datafile or control file backup that must be retained."
Now i connect to SQL and create two big table for filling the redo log file and then get it archived. Please
consider it here that i am getting archived before any taking backup i.e backup database in order to make
archive older then the oldest datafile.

Retention policy for incremental cumulative backup question
Hi,
I have a production database configured with retention policy for 30 days window. No catalog is used.
The backup plan is:
Sunday - Level 0 backup.
Weekdays - Incremental 1 cumulative backup.
I also noticed that some archive logs since Mar 07 2010 has become obsolete in the recent few days.
Cannot figure out why the backup of Mar 07 2010 is going to be obsolete today.
Thanks for your help!

OCP 10g question: Policy-based database configuration framework
Hi Oracle Gurus out there,
I am preparing for Oracle 10g certification. I was able to find answers to most of my questions from the documentation. But this particular topic is somehow missing everywhere, or I am not understanding it correctly.
There are some questions on this topic according to the people who gave their beta exam 1z1-040
Does anybody has any idea what does Oracle mean by 'Policy-based database configuration framework'
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
YogeshOfonime,
the link to the document is

But you need a MetaLink account in order to access it. -
Mimicking administrator services in policy managed database
HI All,
I have a policy manged rac with 5 nodes
on the first 4 nodes I would like to run service number 1 (eg srv_TDB)
on the remaining node I would like to run service number 2 (e.g. exp_TDB)
if node #5 failes, then exp_TDB should failover to node#4 while node#4 still active with srv_TDB service
this is easy achived with administrator managed database, however with policy managed , I dont have the preferred and avaailabe option .
ANy ideas on how to do that in a policy managed database?
10x,
sagsagHi,
The services will be in a serverpool, we cannot manage where and when theys will running in a policy managed. The serverpool determines that.
Even if you create two serverpool and create a service for each serverpool this won't work. Because the services from a database are exclusive from a serverpool and they cannot share between different serverpool.
I do this test and result was a service in each serverpool
eg. srvpool1 (node1,node2,node3) and srvpool2 (node2,node3) and two service srvdb1 and srvdb2. What's happens was : If the srvpool1 has srvdb1 running on node1 and node3, the srvdb2 will be runing only on node2, if you start srvdb2 on node2 and node3 the srvdb1 will be running only on node1. i.e theys don't share same node.
I also tried check using PARENT_POOLS, but this option is not valid to resources with prefix ora.* . Because resource with prefix ora.* must be managed only using srvctl and non ora.* resources can be managed by using crsctl.
Since srvctl does not have option to use PARENT_POOLS we cannot do that.
I really did not like not having control on services in the policy managed database. So, service to batch jobs we can create a singleton service (will run in one node) or create a Service uniform (all nodes) and using a Resource Manager to control it.
Riyaj said this in little words. I just complemented.

Levi Pereira

How to create a group policy for a group not to logout from rdp
there is already a global policy for all users in OU which will disconnect a rdp session after 15 min of inactivity and log user out in another 15 min, (logout 30minutes)
how do I create another policy for a group in that OU so that group user will not be logged out ( executives are asking for this)?Hi,
In addition to Martin’s suggestions, we can also choose to change the scope of the existing GPO with Security Filtering.
Regarding Security Filtering, the following article can be referred to for more information.
Security filtering using GPMC

Hi!
We have fatal or critical error message on Microsoft Intune Portal but all agents are working just fine. Before opening support ticket we would like to hear comments from the experts on this forum. We would also like to fix this error before starting to
manage mobile devices with Intune.
Error message on Intune Portal:
"Microsoft Intune was unable to set the desired mobile device policy for one or more users due to the following error: A2CE0100"
Repeated: 19 times.
Class: (System) Policy
Random Fatal error message on C:\Program Files\Microsoft\OnlineManagement\Logs\PolicyAgent.log found from one Windows 8.1 client:

That said, we are not facing any specific problem but we would like to find symptom of this repeating error message on Intune Portal . We would appreciate to get any thoughts about this case.
