Layers got me confused?

Okay so I made a little character on Photoshop, then moved it onto after effects. The character had many layers. How do I - let's use the arm as an example - move the arm's layer separately?

Layers in AE work the same as they do in PS or AI.
To import a layered PS or AI file into AE, go to File>Import>File navigate to the file and select it. In the Import As drop down choose Composition - Retain Layers. When you add this item to your timeline all of the corresponding layers will appear.
In the timeline, click the arrow to expose the options for Position, Scale, Rotation, etc, to make changes to that layer. Here's a link with tutorials for working with layers Build compositions with layers | Adobe After Effects CC tutorials.
Now if you are asking about animating the arm, say to wave, take a look at Understanding animation | Adobe After Effects CC tutorials.

Bind by position? I got totally confused

is it default that the parameters in the .net codes are binded to that in the pl/sql codes by position? i get totally confused.
very simple codes in the pl/sql are like this:

i woule like the parameter "saint_name" is "aaa" and "saint_ct" is "bbb" if they are binded by position. but error occurs and when i traced the execution of the pl/sql code, i found that the parameter "saint_name" was "bbb" and "saint_ct" was null.
shouldn't they be binded by position? and when i used the
"oracom.BindByName = true;"
the two parameters were just binded correctly.
so i just wonder when and how the parameters are binded by position.

Yes, parameters are bound by position by default when using ODP.NET - this is controlled by the BindByName property which defaults to false. If you want to use bind by name, just set this property to true as you've shown.
Since you are using a FUNCTION I would guess that you did not bind the function return value first, which is required. ODP.NET will generate code similar to this:

:1 := function_name(:2, :3, :4);

Compiz got me confused

So recently compiz merged with compiz-fusion to create compiz. As far as I know the most recent version of this "new" compiz is 0.8.2. And I suppose compiz-fusion will be no longer developed.
Considering all this, what should I install from the repos, compiz or compiz-fusion? I previously used compiz-fusion on my Ubuntu and I want zoom and active corners functionality. Does the new compiz 0.8.2 have the compiz-fusion plugins? And is the compiz-core available in the repos THIS compiz?

Yes, the compiz-core in community is "THIS compiz" (current merged compiz).
It has many, but not all, of the "old compiz-fusion" plugins. Active corners can be set, it has zoom desktop.
Extra compiz-fusion plugins are still available, although I haven't had them installed since the upgrade...

ITunes issues - corruption, confusion, replication,

I'm sure this is really simple and over time i have completed complicated the issue and i just need some clarity.... here goes....
SET UP
Synology Nas with a share on it called iTunes (for the purpose of this lets call it the U:\)
Desktop pc running windows 7 ultimate
mac book pro retina with osx
Apple TV
iPad mini
iPad 2
iPhone 5s
iPod nano (6th Gen)
History:
A while ago I decided to move my iTunes library onto my nas drive to be able to access it from my laptop and apple tv etc. Somehow the library file or database corrupted and wiped half of my playlists, songs etc. I ended up manually sorting everything out (TWICE!!). this also wiped my iphone backup and subsequently my iphone when i plugged it in next.
After purchasing my mac book a few weeks ago I was hesitant to mess around with a working library but today I took the plunge. and wish I hadn't. Sudenly all my playlists could not find the associated tracks either on my pc or macbook. Fortunately i have a backup library file so i copied and renamed it and all seems ok. until i try to point to that file on my macbook at which point it starts updating the library and off we go again.
How I add files to iTunes
Now i know this isnt the right way to go about using iTunes but its how i first started using it years ago (iphone 3 days) and since then its grown and grown and i havent been able to sort it out. so this is how i add music to my library and playlists:
U:\Manual copy\iTunes library folder - DO NOT DELETE OR MOVE!! - I place the mp3 in this folder
Then in iTunes File > Add file (select the file, sorted by date order so its the first one in the list, and add)
In songs, select the file, right click and add to the playlists i want it in.
This essentially means i have two copies of the file right? assuming iTunes creates a backup or a copy somewhere?

This just looks like a mess now and i have no idea whats what any more. ive expanded the folders i think are relevent.
So what am i after?
ideally i want to wipe the whole **** lot and start fresh. But my folder sizes are so huge im wary of loosing so much music, and having to rebuild 170 odd playlists - I setup albums as individual playlists and have different playlists for moods, genre, etc. Folder sizes:
U:\iTunes Media Folder\music - 81.2GB, 11,886 files
U:\iTunes Media Folder\manual copy\iTunes library folder - DO NOT DELETE OR MOVE!! - 32.5GB, 4503 files
i can see from Songs in iTunes that i have 11,596 songs added to the library. sorting by name shows that i have at least 3 copies of each song somehow!? ium guessing that happend when the original corruption occured and was a result of me panicking and trying to fix it.
So what is the easiest way to fix this? i really do not want to spend hour upon hour of starting a whole new library and adding each song one by one, or having to rebuild playlists (which are on all my mobile devices except the iPad mini).
im also extremely weary of loosing my iphone backups and connecting my phone to itunes again incase i loose everything.
Can anyone give me some clear advice on how i should go about fixing this please? i tried looking through the community but i just got more confused.

Thanks for the reply, i double checked and everything on both pc and mac is set right:
both are opening the same .itl file
both have the media folder set to <NAS>/iTunes/iTunes Media
both have the two check boxes ticked (keep folder organised and copy) <------ could this be the problem?
So this is exactly what happens step by step, after having just restored from a backup:
PC
First I open iTunes on the pc, play some tracks - all fine.
Exit iTunes
Wait a minute or two whilst anything saves etc (just incase)
MAC
open Itunes on the mac (its already pointing to the right library)
it says "updating library" - really quick - maybe 10 seconds
all the songs look fine, until i try to play one.
the song could not be found, would you like to locate it? - click no.
Exit iTunes
wait a minute
PC Again
open iTunes on the pc again
"updating iTunes library" - takes a while - a lot longer than it took on the mac - approx 4-5 minutes
now all of the tracks have a "!" next to them
exit iTunes
wait a minute
Mac Again
open iTunes on the mac again
"updating iTunes library" - really quick again
now all the songs have the "!" next to them too.
exit iTunes
restore from backup again
Not really sure why its doing that to be honest.
Any ideas?

"Module Domains" confusion

Dear all,
I'm currently playing around with Flex modules api and got
very confused with the "Module Domains" section on the Adobe docs.
It's under:
Adobe Flex 3 Help -> Advanced Flex Programming ->
Creating Modular Applications -> Modular applications overview
-> Module domains.
In that section, it basically talks about how class
definitions can be "owned" by modules, how it affects the
mysteriously undocumented "SingletonManager" thingy, and how
singletons such as PopupManager might not work due to ownage. I've
read through this section at least 5 times and have done quite a
lot of testing but still couldn't figure out exactly what it means.
Well, here is my questions below and I hope someone can shed my
some insights or point me to a more detailed documentation
regarding this topic:
1. The doc says, "Because a module is loaded into a child
domain, it owns class definitions that are not in the main
application's domain."
What does it mean by class definitions being "owned"? As far
as i know, parent-child ApplicationDomain relationship is
constructed in such a way that class definitions on child domains
are overridden by the same (usually newer) class definitions on
parent domain, but I don't understand what it means by "owning" it.
This also leads to my 2nd question below.
2. The docs then went on saying "For example, the first
module to load the PopUpManager class becomes the owner of the
PopUpManager class for the entire application because it registers
the manager with the SingletonManager. If another module later
tries to use the PopUpManager, Adobe ® Flash® Player
throws an exception."
Well I've tried to replicate this scenario by creating 2
modules and have each of them calling PopUpManager.createPopUp() on
creationComplete event. I loaded up both modules from my shell
application and the popups from both modules worked, i.e., i see 2
popups on screen. But according to the docs, I should get an
exception when the 2nd module tries to run
PopUpManager.createPopUp(). So why is this not the case?
3. The docs also says, "This technique also applies to
components. The module that first uses the component owns that
component's class definition in its domain."
So, I assume what it means is that such restriction affects
not just singletons but normal objects as well. I tried another
test by having module1 instantiates an object of classA, pass it on
to module2, and then try to access it from module2. According to
docs, I should also get an exception from the player; however, this
is not the case. I was able to access the classA instance from
module2 with no errors. Consequently, I also tried to instantiate
classA from module1 and then instantiate another instance of classA
from module2, and that also worked.
As you can see, I'm really confused about almost everything
mentioned in this "module domains" section and how it affects us in
real life. Of course it's all nice and well that all my tests
worked and no exceptions are thrown, but I really wish to get to
the bottom of this and understand what "module domains" really
implies in all these scenarios.

Spry Accordion Menu Tab Link css - totally confused

Thanks folks from an l-plater but I've totally confused myself trying to work this out and I'm hoping some fresh eyes will see the answer clear as day. I've created a spry accordion menu with links in the actual panel tabs. Menu and links all working fine - problem is in css styling, particularly panel tab link open and hover states which should be blue text over green background, same as non-link panel tabs. You'll see from code that I've tried a few styles but can't get this to work. I'm thinking I've totally overdone it and some styles are overriding others and solution is a simple deletion of some unnecessary or conflicting styles.
Thanks so much in advance for your help - I just can't see for looking any more though I'm sure it can't be hard.

Yes Beth, you're right and I've corrected my css - I think - problem with AccordionPanelTab link open and hover states still happening so css still wrong. I've uploaded site so you can see what's happening (www.11acu.org). All tab states should be as per Photo Gallery, Newsletters and Forms. Hover state in tab links seem okay until mouse moves away from "a href" block - rest of tab area not working so its like the two styles, ie "AccordionPanelTab" and "AccordionPanelTab a:hover" are both working at the same time but I only want the latter to work. Now I've probably got you confused as well! lol Apologies! Recreated css for tab links below. Html same as in original post. Any help much appreciated.

CS3 Layers disappear when importing map into InDesign

I have an Illustraor .ai file of a map with many layers and when I import it into my InDesign document
some of the layers disappear. When I open the map in Illustrator they are all turned on but in InDesign some seem as they are turned off or transparent. Very frustrating...any help is appreciated!

Thanks so much for your responses. Although I don't complete understand what the issue was becasue I am no Illustrator expert I did find a solution. I found that there were multiple layers within a layer and also many of those layers had paths/compound paths. So I pulled the layers within out and made new separate layers for them all and removed unnecessary compound paths. So now I have many layers instead of a couple layers with multiple layers within. Confusing I know...but it worked!

Confused with HD-SD

Hi,
All the sudden I am confused with my searches on this forum and would appreciate clarification
I am presently working on a HD project (from HD clips and HD stills).
If I want to get the best out of it, should I use only BluRay burning or would it be OK to use HD setting and burning with DVDSP on a "regular" DL disk (the compressed project will be over 7 GB ?
Should I understand that if I use HD setting with DLdisks only a HD compatible DVD player will be requested ?
will a Bluray player play the HD-DL fine ? or will a bluray disk be requested on bluray player ?
As you can see I just got really confused ...

No doubt this stuff can be confusing. Hopefully I'll be able to clear a few things up.
You shot and edit an HD project in HD. Now you would like to create a DVD correct?
You have 2 options for DVD
1. Standard Definition DVD authored in DVDSP.
2. Blu-Ray DVD. You'll have to purchase a burner.
If you are on the newest FCS then you can author and burn a Blu-Ray DVD inside of Compressor. If you are on the previous version then you need another application to author and burn Blu-Ray like Toast or Adobe Encore.
You made mention of HD-DVD. That format is dead and won't play on anything other than your Mac or a couple specific HD-DVD players that haven't been in production for years. If you look in the DVDSP preferences you can choose which kind of DVD to burn SD-DVD or HD-DVD. Choose SD whenever you are using DVDSP.
Blu-Ray players play Blu-Ray DVD's and SD DVD's. It will not play HD-DVD.
How long is your project if the compressed (m2v) files are coming in at over 7GB?

Drag n Drop Explaination In Confused Mode Detected

Forgive me if I'm wrong.
But I'm currently still trying to understand about the concept of drag n drop dealing with Swing component.
For the aim objective which I concerned is just to get understand how

and it was this detail;
1) Taking the X and Y coordinate (from the mouseEvent) Plus jLabel1 coordinate (both X and Y).
2) Positioning a Coordinate taken to JLabel1
3) Passing the Coordinate taken to jLabelX, and jLabelY.
The problem found was;
if we make 3rd become comments, now the jLabel1
could works!
I mean, jLabel1 could be dragged to another Coordinate (by dragging it to another location)
But,
if we un-comments the 3rd source code,
The effect would be no movement of the jLabel1.

I mean, the jLabel Coordinate's is referenced
from the panel where the jLabel is attached to,

I wanted to make a BorderLayout, and have two of my custom components in the layout but every time I try to run this mc is visible (the first component, and me is not visible...
it says me is not visible but i set it to visible clearly in the code, what is the problem..

I think I got duped.

I received a Verizon email back in September saying I had an "exclusive" deal that would give me new iPhone 6 and extra free data and $200 for my iPhone 4S. Sounded too good to be true but I called and the rep said it was indeed an exclusive deal for being a valued client--yada, yada, yada... The rep was really nice and casual about it all and it felt like she'd been doing the job for a while--at the end of the call she had me in a pre-order iPhone 6 Plus and I even called back shortly after hanging up to add the insurance that she suggested.
A couple of notes:
I ended up going with an iPhone 6 instead when I deemed the other one was too big. I've never been one to go out and get the new device and I've never waited for an iPhone to be released. The iPhone 4 was my first and I didn't get it until summer 2011 and I was thoroughly impressed. It wasn't until I thought it wasn't going as fast as my wife's iPhone that I upgraded to the 4S. In short, I was very satisfied with the iPhone I had before I received the email.
I received the iPhone 6 a couple of months later and my $200 gift card about a month or two after that...I bought a cover from a Verizon store and applied the rest to my bill.
Yesterday, I received a $299 charge on my bill. My first call to Verizonwireless took almost my entire lunch hour, the rep wasn't helpful though he was trained to feign helpfulness with artfully placed statements... I called back after work and cordially asked to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred four times and each rep identified themselves by name. I asked very politely if each was a supervisor, declining to identify my issue other than to state it was a billing dispute. The last customer care representative said there was a wait to speak with a supervisor and offered to help. I said I was fine waiting until a supervisor was available. About 10-15 mins later I spoke directly with a supervisor who in less than five minutes understood my concern and offered to credit my account $99. She explained that there were consecutive offers and some of the reps got them confused when the offers were released. She offered the $99 credit because as she says if I had gotten into the program and sent the phone back I wouldn't have been charged but since I did receive the gift card, then she would credit the $99. I agreed and was happy to be done with the matter.
When I got back home I relayed my story to my wife (who happens to be a former manager with Sprint) and realized I am paying full price for this iPhone 6 and I gave away my iPhone 4S for free.
The first sales rep I spoke with wasn't new, she knew what she was doing... The supervisor understood my situation very quickly and offered to credit my account within one minute of my explanation. To have her say the offers were confusing to the Verizonwireless sales reps...not a good excuse. I feel like I was a part of a long con. I've been with Verizonwireless since 08' and pay routinely with a steady stream of auto payments. Tonight I am looking at the offers from T-Mobile & Sprint to buy out contracts and replace existing phones with other carriers because it feels like I've been duped. I don't want to keep paying a company to be shifty and shady. I am wondering if my situation is unique.

$299 was charged because I didn't return the device via the Edge program. However, I called after received the first email that advised I would be charged back in December and the Verizonwireless phone rep told me to disregard the email as I had already sent the phone in and had received the $200 gift card. The customer care supervisor who credited me the $99 told me the offers were confusing to some of the reps when they were put out together. So you see why I am concerned? Had I not received the first email in September and called to speak with the sales rep I would have waited until my June 2015 upgrade date. It only made since when I had the $200 gift card offer to offset the extra $27-$30 I'm being charged (in addition to the tax of the full price of the phone I paid in my first installment) but now that's a wash.

Confusion in Byteode and machineCode

Hi Frieds,
Today I was searching for some tools to convert java bytecode to machinecode. I saw a listing of some tools like JOVE, VisualAge, VisualCafe, JET etc. But I got really confused.
1. It's Ok that java produces ByteCode for plateform independancy and on running this byteCode performance is slow as the byteCode is first interpreted. But my question is what happens next time, if you run the same application second time, is the performance slow again. I don't think that again interpretation is done second time. So if it is slow second time also then WHY? and if it is not slow then why do we need the above mentioned tools, how are they beneficial?
2. These tools convert byteCode to MachineCode which is plateform dependent, at the same time they are talking of making executables which can run on any machine (.exe files), so how is this possible and what is the performance of such executables?
Please help me in clarifying my doubts,

The bytecode to machine langauge translation is performed each time the program is run. Some JVMs translate any bytecode to machine language before it runs it. Others interpret the bytecode until it's determined that the bytecode is a "hotspot" that is taking a significant portion of the execution time. .exe files can run only on Windows computers, not on any machine.

Player detection confusion.

Hi, I have made a flash website in flash 8, and now I would
like to set up player detection on it but got really confused when
I downloaded the "Detection kit" can someone help me figure out
what I have to do / where I have to put all the files. I would like
to use one that uses flash to check for the correct player.
basically I wont it to work like this - open a website it starts
playing the "detect flash" flash movie clip, then it sends you to
the appropriate page (noflash & flash), on the noflash site it
plays another flash movie clip that gives you the option of
downloading the update to flash 8 (with out going away to
macromedia site) or not. If you choose not to then redirects you to
whatever.

Step 1 put the 2 frames from (

Step 3 added the swfobject. JScript Script File to my site
and tested and it works.
I tested it by removing flash player from my system and
running the html and it came up fine, next I installed flash 7 and
ran the html file and we had the option of upgrading and it
upgraded me and redirected me back to my site.

Confused re:packages

Hi
I have the Bronze BT package with broadband and I wanted to include Sky Sports 1, would that cost me £11.99 extra a month.
I have got myself a bit confused with the £32.99 a month deal with getting Sky for £6.99.
I probably pay about £32 a month now for both so should I just change it over, and is this even possible?
Sorry, too much information to take in, got myself confused so if anyone can help a simpleton like me I would be grateful!!
