I think I got duped.

I received a Verizon email back in September saying I had an "exclusive" deal that would give me new iPhone 6 and extra free data and $200 for my iPhone 4S. Sounded too good to be true but I called and the rep said it was indeed an exclusive deal for being a valued client--yada, yada, yada...  The rep was really nice and casual about it all and it felt like she'd been doing the job for a while--at the end of the call she had me in a pre-order iPhone 6 Plus and I even called back shortly after hanging up to add the insurance that she suggested.
A couple of notes:
I ended up going with an iPhone 6 instead when I deemed the other one was too big. I've never been one to go out and get the new device and I've never waited for an iPhone to be released. The iPhone 4 was my first and I didn't get it until summer 2011 and I was thoroughly impressed. It wasn't until I thought it wasn't going as fast as my wife's iPhone that I upgraded to the 4S. In short, I was very satisfied with the iPhone I had before I received the email.
I received the iPhone 6 a couple of months later and my $200 gift card about a month or two after that...I bought a cover from a Verizon store and applied the rest to my bill.
Yesterday, I received a $299 charge on my bill. My first call to Verizonwireless took almost my entire lunch hour, the rep wasn't helpful though he was trained to feign helpfulness with artfully placed statements...  I called back after work and cordially asked to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred four times and each rep identified themselves by name. I asked very politely if each was a supervisor, declining to identify my issue other than to state it was a billing dispute. The last customer care representative said there was a wait to speak with a supervisor and offered to help. I said I was fine waiting until a supervisor was available. About 10-15 mins later I spoke directly with a supervisor who in less than five minutes understood my concern and offered to credit my account $99. She explained that there were consecutive offers and some of the reps got them confused when the offers were released. She offered the $99 credit because as she says if I had gotten into the program and sent the phone back I wouldn't have been charged but since I did receive the gift card, then she would credit the $99. I agreed and was happy to be done with the matter.
When I got back home I relayed my story to my wife (who happens to be a former manager with Sprint) and realized I am paying full price for this iPhone 6 and I gave away my iPhone 4S for free.
The first sales rep I spoke with wasn't new, she knew what she was doing...  The supervisor understood my situation very quickly and offered to credit my account within one minute of my explanation. To have her say the offers were confusing to the Verizonwireless sales reps...not a good excuse. I feel like I was a part of a long con. I've been with Verizonwireless since 08' and pay routinely with a steady stream of auto payments. Tonight I am looking at the offers from T-Mobile & Sprint to buy out contracts and replace existing phones with other carriers because it feels like I've been duped. I don't want to keep paying a company to be shifty and shady. I am wondering if my situation is unique.

$299 was charged because I didn't return the device via the Edge program. However, I called after received the first email that advised I would be charged back in December and the Verizonwireless phone rep told me to disregard the email as I had already sent the phone in and had received the $200 gift card. The customer care supervisor who credited me the $99 told me the offers were confusing to some of the reps when they were put out together. So you see why I am concerned? Had I not received the first email in September and called to speak with the sales rep I would have waited until my June 2015 upgrade date. It only made since when I had the $200 gift card offer to offset the extra $27-$30 I'm being charged (in addition to the tax of the full price of the phone I paid in my first installment) but now that's a wash.

  • HT4623 i think i got the 1st or 2nd gen ipod touch how do you update it??

i think i got the 1st or 2nd gen ipod touch how do i update it?

    To update
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes
iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
A 1G iPod can go to iOS 3.1.3
A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1

  • I think I got scammed on iTunes?

Hi, I think I got scammed on iTunes. I purchased this...
    https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/born-for-this-single/id872605458
And then I found out that it wasn't actually released by the artist himself, but someone else under his name.
Can they get my credit card information? Or only the $3.38? What happens?

  • Think i got sweat on nano and it won't come on at all

Think i got sweat on my nano 6th gen and it wont come on at all

You can try putting it in a Baggie with raw rice or new silica gel packets, letting it dry for 4 - 5 days, charge it for a half-hour then reset it on the charger.
Just remember sweat contains salt which is corrosive and may have done personal damage.

  • I was playing my iPod and then shut it off... When I tried to turn it back on it wouldn't work and I don't think I got a warranty

I was playing my iPod and then shut it off... When I tried to turn it back on it wouldn't work and I don't think I got a warranty
    Please con someone help

Although you may have already tried this, I suggest plugging your iPod in to see if its battery has run out.  To check your warranty go to apple.com -> support -> contact us -> check your coverage. You probably have  one year warranty if you bought this product new from apple.

  • Did you not get what you paid for and think you got jipped?

Yesterday, July 25,2013 I bought 4 songs from iTunes, and I received an error code saying the purchase could not be made and to try again latter. I went and checked my bank account and saw that the purchase had been made. I get on iTunes again today and it says that I did not buy those songs,so I bought them again and they downloaded this time. The 4 songs costed $4.92 and I bought them a second time for $4.92. I spent $9.84 (my math was off when I emailed them I told them $9.92). Now I have to wait until they email me back and so on. Has something similar happened to any of you? BTW this isn't the first time this happened to me.

I got those emails and they said I have to wait 48 hours. I know I have to be patient. I just posted this to see ancd find out if this has happened to anyone else. I had incomplete tracks too and I solved it. I just deleted the song from my library and redownloaded it or a different version. Until my problem is solved I think I won't use iTunes store for a while.

  • PLEASE HELP!!!!! I THINK I GOT A VIRUS/TROJAN/WORM

Yes this is the first time this has occurred..
I will tell you what happened... Here i go
Ok tonight i sent an im over aim to somebody and they said i sent a link which i didnt and i send another im to another person and they also said i sent a link which i didnt. So i dont know what this is, is it a trojan horse, a virus, or just a worm? I would think it would be a trojan horse. But i asked them what did the link say and they sent it back to me but it didnt register. And she told me that she sent it... Andi didnt think about it being a virus/trojan/worm untill she exited out of the window. Well i asked her what the link was and she said she didnt know. So it i told her if she gets the link again just send it back to me with out the .com so it wouldnt be a link. I am worried that i got one b/c this is the first time this has happened to me since i had my expensive imac. I am running a mac os x version 10.3.9. And i ran a virus scan for my apps with ClamXav so far there hasnt been a virus detected. Can someone PLEASE help me becuase when i tell my dad he is going to kill me if i dont fix it....
    Thx alot, Robby

    Hi k0rnyfr33k,
This is one of the oldest tricks in the virus writer's bag. When one of these infected e-mails hits a Windows computer, the virus/worm/Trojan automatically copies itself to every person in their address book. At the same time, it uses any one of those names to spoof the "from" address to make it look like it came from somewhere else. So it's an almost 100% certainty that the virus they got came from someone else's computer whom you know who has your e-mail address in their address book. I've gotten such stuff with my own address as the sender. Meaning that I know it came from one of my relatives, friends, or someone else who has my e-mail stored in their address book in Windows.

  • Help, I think I was duped by a seller

So, I bought a used iPhone 4 from the internet. The seller said he bought it April 2011 but got a replacement from Apple on January 2012. When the phone arrived, I noticed that the IMEI sticker had been peeled off. So I couldn't check whether the phone IMEI was different or the same (obviously if it's a replacement phone the IMEI would've been different). Then I checked the serial number to know the manufacture date. 79******A4T. it means the phone was manufactured on the 12th week of 2011, right? So I suspect this is the original phone that was bought on April 2011, not a replacement! What do you think?

I think that buying a used iPhone from the internet is risky and foolish.  Now YOU know why.

  • I downloaded Firefox, then when it was done two new apps called Ot Shot and PC Fix Speed appeared, i recently had a blue screen and think i got a virus

I think i may have gotten a virus from downloading firefox

The '''Mozilla.org''' Firefox installer only installs the Firefox program.
Where did you get your Firefox? You should get the program from
'''Mozilla.org'''. If you got it from somewhere else, it may have been hacked.
Try to remove all of those programs using the Win Uninstaller.
    ====================================================
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • MSI RX9800-TD128. I think I got an R360

Does this mean I have an R360 core on my MSI ATI RX9800 TD128?
    (keeping fingers crossed)
Excuse my ignorance, but I did some searches and they didnt turn up much (I actually havent slept for almost a whole day so I may be missing the obvious)
Basicly what happened is I consistently hit approxamately 38,900 on Aquamark with my MSI 9800 pro drivers. Hoever I just DL the latest catalist drivers from ATI and now my drivers read as 9800 XT. So I re-checked my Aqua score and without any tinkering Im consistently scoring approximately 41,300.
Any thoughts? My case is got 7 fans in it including a 120mm so I dotn think cooling is a problem. Didnt see any artifacting. *shrug*.

The password is good for 15 minutes to make purchases. You should receive a receipt in 24 to 48 hours for the purchases. There is a link to Report an issue. You could use that to start a conversation with iTunes Support about a refund.
Apple considers all sales final. But has been known to offer a one time refund. So the question is, do you want to use your one time refund on this purchase or one more expensive in the future?

  • I think I got LUCKY!!

Need some feedback on anyone else who has tried overclocking their K8T Neo FISR2, ie how high you got your FSB and what voltage your processor is at. I think i must have gotten a good CPU and mobo as i've read that to get good results with this processor you would have to use Nforce3 Mobo.
I have been totally amazed with mine, ok i know i'm using water but have heard that this board falls over at about 217 FSB. Not so for me, I couldn't have made a better choice.
Can run all benchmarks up to 233FSB and then after that they start crashing back to desktop. Windows is ok at 236FSB.
    Anyone else had much luck??

230FSB Prime 95 stable.  All stock voltages with everything in the sig.  I ran it one night like this with no errors in Prime 95.  I have it back at stock, using the CoreCell Chip dynamic oc'ing now.  I've read where the 1MB L2 cache inhibits the OC'ing ability of the 3200.

  • I think I got a scam call...

So I got what I believed was a scam call from +1 (661) 748-0240. He said some stuff about him detecting security issues with me and my IP address. I ask how he would know that, and he said it was through the servers connected to my PC. I'd like to think I'm fairly tech-literate so I could tell it was a bit of crap. Looking it up, I see it's a default skype number and that it's used for scamming quite a bit. So that helped my suspision. But here's the thing. This was a bit different. He knew and recited my name to me, and even said he was a third-party contracted by Dell(I own an Alienware laptop from late 2013). That was a bit scary as I have no idea how a scammer would have that info. But I'm pretty sure a REAL third-party network security company would have a REAL number.  So I'm fairly sure it was just a scammer. but I have no idea how he would have that info. Has anyone else had this instance where the guy knew your name and somehow knew your PC brand?

Hi, Maora34, and welcome to the Community,
    You are correct: this number: 001 661 748 0240
is a well-known generic caller ID assigned to outgoing Skype calls by the land line telephone companies when Skype caller ID is missing, corrupted, or simply not programmed or added.
I would be extremely wary of such calls, and suspect that perhaps the place you purchased your computer from may have been compromised.  Call that vendor directly to ask for more information.  As a proactive measure, change your on-line account passwords and run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware software suite using today's virus signature files.
Dell, and the vendor from which you purchased your PC, needs to be made aware of this incident.
    Regards,
    Elaine
